Title: Nova wallet users pls?
Post by: Ketesnuko on August 22, 2022, 12:32:06 PM
What type of wallet is Nova wallet? I've not used this wallet before but right now I cant find any that supports kusama, Astr and Azero out of the box, Azero official wallet works through website and I don't like the idea of keeping my coins in a website like a wallet and bookmark it, any past experience with Nova?.

Just have your own research or (DYOR).
Novagithub - https://github.com/nova-wallet

Or on Twitter,
https://twitter.com/NovaWalletApp

Or I heard some update on Gavin wood's Twitter account regarding Nova's wallet.

What type of wallet is Nova wallet?
One thing I know, is not open-source wallet, correct me if I'm wrong.

You might want to be specific on which wallet exactly you want to ask about

I see;
1. novawallet.net (seems to be noncustodial but web based)

2. novawallet.io (Noncustodial software wallet. On their website, they claim that their wallet is open source)

https://novawallet.io/ looks like an open source wallet, but it needs to be verified. At least, they have a public repo on GitHub: https://github.com/nova-wallet

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.novawallet.android this Nova wallet is "a decentralized wallet compatible with BTC and VSOL" and according to https://walletscrutiny.com/android/net.novawallet.android/ it is neither open nor closed source, it is "under development", which means its status still needs to be evaluated.

https://novawallet.net/ is a web wallet but it has a version for iOS which can be found here: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/nova-wallet/id1592044359#see-all/reviews In the description it is said that this wallet is "non-custodial" but it doesn't necessarily mean this wallet is open source.

P.S. Last two wallets are from the same developers: https://novawallet.co.uk/

Beware of using this wallet since it's new wallet created since 2021 same like their company VSolidus.

On 2016 there's an exchanges named novaexchange [ANN] Novaexchange.com - Crypto currency exchange (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1440340.0) but they're already closed since 2018 or 2019. Novaexchange seems to be a shady exchange since many people complaining on their thread.

I think with the 2 years gap, it might from the same people who create this nova wallet.

If you worried to use web wallet, you can use Ledger since AFAIK Ledger support those 3 coins you mentioned above.
