Title: Can Bitcoin be worth zero?
Post by: cmcripto on August 29, 2022, 03:53:27 PM
We all know how volatile and unpredictable the cryptocurrency market can be. One month, a coin may be at its peak of value, and the next, it may have almost no value at all. Unfortunately, this is simply the name of the game when it comes to cryptography. But what would happen if the oldest and most valuable asset on the market, Bitcoin, dropped to zero?

One month, a coin may be at its peak of value, and the next, it may have almost no value at all.
Most likely it was a shitcoin which was riding on hype and had no real value whatsoever.

But what would happen if the oldest and most valuable asset on the market, Bitcoin, dropped to zero?
What would happen if gold or real estate dropped to zero.
Bitcoin has survived long enough to not have this type of arguments around it.

But what would happen if the oldest and most valuable asset on the market, Bitcoin, dropped to zero?

Such thing would happen only if an unrecoverable and very big problem would be found in Bitcoin. Until now no such thing has happened (the big problems were early and recoverable), so we can say it has already passed the test of time and 0-value scenario is pretty much unlikely.

However, was this a genuine question or just some attempt to advertise a website?

because you are a newbie then you have to read a lot more topics that have been past in this forum...

out there we are met every day by writings, thoughts from people who have different predictions about the future of bitcoin (some say bitcoin will go to zero, some will not) but if you examine more deeply then the possibility of bitcoin going to zero is 0.009%.

you can read an old topic I've made, maybe you can get something from there [This is why Bitcoin will never go to zero] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5403842.msg60429569#msg60429569)

OP, I can understand that your concern and what has prompted this question, which is as a result of the recent dip in the price of btc, where the price dropped below the $20k mark yet again, almost unexpected and it is causing uncertainty to brew in the mind of hodlers. Btc may dip further, but the price will never get to zero, at least that is something everybody who has been with bitcoin can say in agreement. There is a possibility for other coins to get to zero, but not bitcoin IMO.

If a 51% attack has happened then it could be one of the reason in the past. But is there any history in the early past of it that this has ever happened?

The projects that had been 51% attacked still has some value but that made their projects deteriorate.

However, was this a genuine question or just some attempt to advertise a website?
I believe it's the latter.

No, Bitcoin has not had a 51% attack, as far as I'm aware.
Comparing the risk and reward ratio, attempting such an attack on Bitcoin would be very difficult to pull of. For one, it has a huge capital requirement to even attempt it, and there's no guarantee that the attacker would actually get any benefit from it.

The hashrate is also growing, making it more difficult with time.

The price of bitcoin was still struggle to being at 20k dollars, many whales trying to collapse it.But with the new and old supporters of the bitcoin and crypto currency. The price of bitcoin back to the 20k dollars.People waiting for the 17k dump in the price of bitcoin. But it take some huge time for the huge dump in the bitcoin price. This will be good time to inverse in the trusted coins.

We all know how volatile and unpredictable the cryptocurrency market can be.

Yes, being volatile is part of the petty sentiments, why? It's gives a designated time for the BULLS and the BEARS even to NEWBIES that are also interested to HODL btc.

P/s: these volatility ain't symetrical because the market doesn't run itself; sometimes, it is based on concurrent repositioning on the world's economy which, we all know as a major catalyst of degradation.
IMO, bitcoin has taken more than a decade to raise a formidable and an unfathomable, structural brilliance so I don't even think an eclipse will do much harm.

Instead of seeing bitcoin in zero value, why not expect the highest peak that it could reach in the next possible years. Bitcoin has lived more than a decade and if it will only drop into zero value, then all its struggles will all fall into nothing. However, as long as the demand of the people increases every year, bitcoin will also develop and grow more, that way its value will hardly fall into zero anymore.

Though this is possible with several shitcoins out there, but I honestly do not think it is possible with Bitcoin.
As the price of bitcoin drops, alot of investors are waiting to buy in, and as investors buy in, the price rises, this is why the price of bitcoin can never turn to zero.

And also to add, what ever causes the price of bitcoin to go down to zero must be really heavy, and that might mean the end of crypto, for as it is currently, whatever affects bitcoin affects the entire crypto market.

When you're reading about bitcoin am sure you've come across the word volatile, this is what is common with the currency and it does not do it harm or bad in any way, it rather give room to enter into the market and proceed with the moves, but what many lack is the understanding of how the market runs, bitcoin is entirely different from fiat currency, and not until the Knowledge is being acquired along with some years of experience it may be so difficult not to have it all in a bad way.

But what would happen if the oldest and most valuable asset on the market, Bitcoin, dropped to zero?

I don't think this is a possibility for now because bitcoin has come and to stay.

I would say that Bitcoin CAN be worth 0, but it's extremely unlikely.  I'm sure there's a price it would drop to where people would be interested in owning it as a keepsake.  Look at Namecoin...  Nobody really uses that for anything these days but it's still got a market cap in the millions.  I imagine if Bitcoin dropped to a penny, many people could afford to buy them all just for shits and giggles as they say.  It would take a pretty catastrophic event for nobody in the world to be willing to pay a penny for a BTC.  I think if that happened, the price of Bitcoin would be the least of anyone's concerns.

I think it will take a very long time before Bitcoin become worth zero if it will be.  But in the current situation, Bitcoin is far from going worthless because its foundation is already established.  On the contrary, I think Bitcoin is more likely to continue to have an uptrend chart because of the strong effect of speculations.

But, assuming Bitcoin becomes zero, I am sure, the world will move on, there may be lots of people who went bankrupt but  I am sure there are also who profited from this event.

If you are just "new" into this market then you would really be definitely having this kind of impression where you would really be having thoughts that it might be going to zero. How can you say that it would come to zero? If you are really that aware on how many times bitcoin died then it do able to recover afterwards then you would really be building up that kind of confidence inside.

Although nothing is assured when it comes to future or things that might happen ahead but basing up with Bitcoin community and its support then it is really hard to believe that it would really lost its value.
If you do have doubts with bitcoin investment then skip out and find another one.We dont really force out people to make out investment.

Obviously it’s more on the advertisement of this website he posted. But anyway, bitcoin will never reach zero value if there will be no world events that will leave huge effects on its price. Although the market had experienced a lot of struggles because of some inevitable events but all those have only come and passed, and up to this moment, there are still no reasons that bitcoin will end up being useless and end up in zero value.

That imagination can never happen, btc will never go back to zero, i don't even believe btc price can ever go below 5k$ again in this life. Even if all the government in across all nation gang against BTC it can never be valueless.
Btc has gained ground, trust and adoption, which we as crypto believe will always do everything posssible to keep it alive.

This question is already expected from a newbie as one is not knowledgeable and used to see the market having price fluctuations most of the time. But when we talk about bitcoin, knowing it’s the most prominent and the one that dominates the crypto market, it’s hard to see its value dropping into zero. Although bitcoin is also not stable, but knowing that it had survived more than 10 years of battling with a lot of attacks, that one proves that bitcoin will not be easily become useless in the end.

The only time that bitcoin will become zero if there is another crypto coin that will take its place and will become the most valuable asset in the market. But for now, bitcoin is still the best and most profitable coin so far so it’s value will definitely increase more and it’s adoption will become a mainstream someday. Seeing it become zero value might be very impossible these days.

If this was to happen, then it is too late. During the beginning days or at the transition point of bitcoin towards the next level this could've taken place. For now it have crossed several deaths out of the crashes and big criticism as it is an asset used for illegal needs and gambling purpose. Now it is on the path for which this is being innovated, so it is never to be Zero anymore.

Bitcoin is really a old coin like you said and their is nothing impossible in the digital market but the possibility of Bitcoin dropping to Zero is on a 0.1% speculation level. If peradventure Bitcoin drop to zero, which is never possible, that means the end of crypto currency because Bitcoin is really what is making some people believe in crypto currency.
OP, if you must know, am just going to give you a scenario of a home without parents, the children in that house are definitely going to behave the way they please and that's how it will look like in the crypto market if anything bad happens to Bitcoin. In my sense of view Bitcoin being the first crypto is now like the parents to every other crypto.

falling to zero would mean no more value, would it mean that there would be no one willing to buy and sell, this is impossible to happen and why do I think that way? let's go back in time, until years ago, at the beginning of bitcoin creation, there were few people who knew about bitcoin so the price was low, but even at that time the price was not 0, today we have a much bigger market compared to the past, more people enter this market every day, so even if there was a misfortune the price wouldn't go down to zero, it could go down a lot but it wouldn't go down to zero because there will always be someone to buy bitcoin, because there will always be someone with faith that the price will go go up, that's why it's impossible to go down to zero

I think it will take a very long time before Bitcoin become worth zero if it will be.  But in the current situation, Bitcoin is far from going worthless because its foundation is already established.  On the contrary, I think Bitcoin is more likely to continue to have an uptrend chart because of the strong effect of speculations.

even if there was another currency more valuable than bitcoin, it would still be impossible for bitcoin to drop to zero, there will always be people wanting to buy and sell bitcoin. an interesting thing is that whenever the price drops a lot people panic and the panic blinds them to the point of thinking that the price will drop a lot to zero, when this is not true

Maybe, but I don't believe bitcoin will reach to zero after our lifetime. Maybe something better in technology could reach the market. From valueless token to such a big market in short period of time will never see a decline to Zero. The only possibility before me is the shut down of entire mining operation, which won't happen.

I think bitcoin will definitely be hard to reach zero price. because the interest in investing in bitcoin is increasing, and there are so many people who put the price of bitcoin at a low price so if the price of bitcoin goes down there will be a lot of people who will buy it. so I think the price of bitcoin will be difficult to reach zero price.

Can be Bitcoin go down to zero? Yes, of course. That's a possibility. In the same way that gold, silver, diamond, and all precious stones and metals could also become worthless. If a global famine for example will hit the world, nothing is more important than food. A quarter sack of corn will be a lot more valuable than a bar of gold.

How likely that Bitcoin will go down to zero? Very unlikely. In the absence of a nuclear global war or a deadly global famine or a pandemic like no other, Bitcoin will most probably remain valuable.

This is a topic that has come up many times and I think something that none of us of course could answer with any absolute certain in the very long run but for the short to mid term, I think it would be nearly impossible for bitcoin to fall to zero. There will be far too many who will never sell their coins keeping it above the price of zero for many years to come.

The chances of such a development happening are very low, it is not impossible because technically nothing is impossible in this life, however the only way I could see the price of bitcoin going down all the way to see zero is if there was the total collapse on our infrastructure and neither the Internet or the electric grid worked.

And in that kind of catastrophic scenario I do not think we will have too much of a time to worry about the price of bitcoin, so do not worry about something that is so unlikely and concentrate yourself in other scenarios that are way more likely to happen.

Let's assume in the future there will be another cryptocurrency powerful enough to replace bitcoin and bitcoin will no longer be the king of crypto but as long as demand remains and people still use bitcoin, bitcoin will never go to zero. Everything just goes back to 0 when it's really out of demand and no longer being used, not just bitcoin. The only time bitcoin goes to zero happens only when our need for bitcoins is gone.

With lot’s of challenges bitcoin have faced in the past years, am sure bitcoin can never go back to zero, we no the market is volatile but bitcoin can only dump and can never go to zero, if bitcoin price dump any amount of bitcoin you are holding remaining the same the only thing that will change is the price but the quantity will not change. If you are trading or holding alternative coins then they can go to zero anything is possible but if you are trading or holding bitcoin your mind should be at rest that bitcoin can never go to zero.

Even the shittiest coin never touch zero price as long as it was still listed on exchange. Terra Luna investor lost there confidence to the project but still there’s still a lot of people keep buying the old token hoping that it will be revive soon. So how come Bitcoin will worth nothing while it is the top crypto currency and other failed project didn’t even touch that price level? I’m sure the price will recover quickly the moment it will deep less than 1000$ a piece because there will always be people buying it no matter what happened because Bitcoin already proven what it’s worth.

I’m not saying there’s a zero chance that it will happened but it’s very rare for that scenario to occur knowing how huge crypto market nowadays.

Yeah, a group or a company that will attempt to do this. They may not even get what they want and they'll cost them more money so it's nonsense to do it anymore, especially on these days when the price of bitcoin was 1/3 from its former highest ATH.

I guess we can conclude that it's highly unlikely that we'll see bitcoin drop to that figure.

The big whales of the market are the manipulators. Like the big investors, the exchanges, the government who have passed the legal tender, the business companies who have bought a lot of bitcoin, if they sell, the price of bitcoin crashed. The Chances are very low that these manipulators will bring down the value of Bitcoin to zero. And if that happens, it will make the all Altcoins of the entire market 99 percent zero.all the big whales invest their billions of dollars in this industry.Which is their source of income from where they are earning money. So Big Wells would never want the value of Bitcoin to go to zero۔Because this way this industry will end.And this is not the work of a one whale alone. For example, if the exchanges sell off all bitcoins, suppose the price of bitcoins goes to zero, then all the business of these exchanges will stop, so they would never like the value of Bitcoin to go to zero.

When bitcoin goes to zero not only bitcoin will be destroyed but the world economy will also be disrupted. But who would expect bitcoin to go to zero? those who expect it are only among those who do not hold bitcoin and do not invest in it. Big whales won't let bitcoin go to zero.

As long as bitcoin was created until now bitcoin has never been zero, bitcoin only experienced a correction and then accelerated to an increasingly higher price. like currently bitcoin is in a bearish crash mode and of course, there will be bulls that will follow later.

Bitcoin has many communities and is now known by everyone in the world. So no one will doubt bitcoin and those who doubt and still hope for bitcoin to be zero of course don't understand the bitcoin mechanism.

It could be yes and it could be no, and in my opinion this really depends on the investment and may also depend on the enthusiast, and depending on the state of the Cryptocurrency market as well of course, I think and I also strongly believe that this is very unlikely to happen, impossible I mean here is the value of Bitcoin that will be zero, this is very unlikely and very, very unlikely to happen.

But apart from Bitcoin itself this will probably happen and very precisely for Shitcoins, Shitcoin will very likely change its value to Zero, and very likely will become Zero.
Unlike Bitcoin, Bitcoin is very decentralized and very and has a very good level of quality, I don't have any doubts about Bitcoin.

I understand we can never say never but in this case, Bitcoin falling to zero price is like 1 out of a million chances or maybe never. Bitcoin has seen dips before and many people have thought it never coming back again, literally, people have called Bitcoin dead a lot of times, Bitcoin Obituaries (https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-obituaries/) and here we are and considering the people and institutions and Governments of countries that have invested in Bitcoin, the worst could be that Bitcoins price might be less volatile but not going to zero.

Truthfully, I very much doubt Bitcoin will ever be worth absolutely zero. Even the dollar note could never be worth less than the paper it is printed on. There must always be a bottom value. And unless we see an abrupt and sudden deadly, unfixable flaw with Blockchain, the technology behind Bitcoin, then there is nothing to worry about. And anyway, its best not to dwell on impossible scenarios. They only fuel your personal FUD.

This was a discussion back in 2017-2018 and yet it is still being discussed til this day, lol. The coin that you're describing in the OP surely does not have utility at all that is why that it still has a peak of value and due to lack of reasoning to invest to that coin, it just go down easily to zero. Like Upgrade00 mentioned, it surely is a shitcoin and the way that you're describing the possibility, that is how shitcoin behaves by default. Meme coins could be another example but due to almost undying hype around it, it just does not die at all unlike those shitcoin in the market.

What would happen if it happens? Surely everyone would just stop buying and before it goes down to zero it surely is going to have a lot of selling pressure.

~
It is not going to happen. Bitcoin going down to zero is just another sentence to be added as another entry in Bitcoin Obituaries obviously. People keep spreading FUDs for good.

Bitcoin is the king of all coins, all cryptocurrencies depend on Bitcoin.Because Bitcoin exists, there are various altcoins and cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin is one of the most valuable coins in the world right now.Bitcoin is being thought of on an international level. Bitcoin is now legalized in various countries, and most banks support Bitcoin.Bitcoin is being traded in various markets. Bitcoin has played a very big role in the world economy. Where Bitcoin is so far ahead, can Bitcoin fall to zero?Bitcoin is nothing to worry about, no coin has overtaken Bitcoin yet and never will.

Only altcoins with no real usecase can drop to zero but not bitcoin. If you know the starting value of bitcoin, then after a year it surge highand then it reached more than $60k, I'm sure you will not think again that it will drop to zero despite of a bear market. Maybe now bitcoin ia in a downtrend but after a year it will bounce back because bitcoin already the king of all crypto and people beleive it will recover soon from this bad market condition.

In my opinion this will be very unlikely to happen, the value and price of Bitcoin will not go down to zero, maybe it is true that the current market price is declining usually called a bear market (Bearish), but with this it cannot be concluded that this will make the value of Bitcoin will continue down to zero.

You are right bitcoin cannot drop to zero, bear market will make people think that bitcoin will drop to zero meanwhile dip is highly required after a huge pump, bitcoin was once at $50 per unit, now its worth more than $20k, such an amazing increase, and if bitcoin tries get back to $10k lots of people will be thinking bitcoin will go to zero which is not possible, for a healthy growth of the market a correction is highly important, which tends to be the bear market, soon bull market will arrive but no one knows when

I don't want to compare but have you ever wondered Gold going all the way to zero? I understand it's metal and shit, however bitcoin is something similar in digital format and more anonymous than storing Gold in the grandpa's locker. Bitcoin is advanced version of it, with great potential that it has proven again and again over the short period of time. In addition to it's salient features Bitcoin's volatility is actually it's wonderful power since it contributes to greater daily trades, long term hodling trades and more. It gives investors chance to buy over and over again when it's dipping and this wat the list goes on and on. So I am pretty sure everyone is convinced why Bitcoin can't go to zero, for it's perfect returning valuation property!

Bitcoin and gold can have similarities, but they also have differences. An example is that bitcoin can be used for jeweleries and also in many other applications that makes it well utilized by humans, because of its glittering nature, people values it. But the similarity is because people value it and hold it, just like people are holding bitcoin.

Bitcoin can not be seen, but because it is a good way of investing, people are buying it, they know after massive bear market, bull market will follow, they buy more and the adoption continues, bitcoin is also valuable and because of its investment nature, its value can not get to zero, only what is happening is all-time-high.

But what would happen if the oldest and most valuable asset on the market, Bitcoin, dropped to zero?
Though this is possible with several shitcoins out there, but I honestly do not think it is possible with Bitcoin.
As the price of bitcoin drops, alot of investors are waiting to buy in, and as investors buy in, the price rises, this is why the price of bitcoin can never turn to zero.

And also to add, what ever causes the price of bitcoin to go down to zero must be really heavy, and that might mean the end of crypto, for as it is currently, whatever affects bitcoin affects the entire crypto market.
If bitcoin ends up in zero value, then definitely the whole crypto market will also end as bitcoin price affects the whole crypto coins. But let’s not focus on what is being impossible OP because if we look at the current status of bitcoin, it’s too unlikely to see its end because even if it’s price drops drastically, the demand even gets higher because people see more opportunities to invest when bitcoin price is low.
Would really be affecting big the entire market where the king of all crypto coin drops its value to zero then it would really be crumbled down also into other coins in the market but we cant really avoid not to think that if bitcoin goes to zero then there might be some coins or projects who had might able to overtake it but in overall or being realistic then it is really still on the impossible side for bitcoin
to become zero value considering or looking into its demand and huge support then it is really something that cant just goes to zero even if we do have that extreme regulation problem.

I said it many times and I'll repeat it again: altcoins aren't bitcoin. The fact that a shitcoin like luna crashed to 0 doesn't mean bitcoin will. Bitcoin does not depend on shitcoins and their problems aren't bitcoin's problems. The fact that a company buys bitcoin and goes bankrupt doesn't undermine bitcoin in any way!

I'm really fed up with people who ask these dumb questions like that coin died, will bitcoin die too? It's like saying my friend died in a plane crash, does it mean I will die in a plane crash?

This was been talked about many times during the earliest day of Bitcoin. And mostly asked during the bear season. Many people are asking and assuming "What IF", some will say it can be possible and of course, I can agree with that but to know when that is impossible. But, I don't really think about it, not in my mind it becomes zero because I see the increasing demand and market adoption making it hard to devalue and turn to zero.
Many people can draw that assumption but no way they are absolutely right, they can be wrong as well( in most cases).

I'm not agree at all, there are some scenarios where bitcoin will worth zero...

1.-Super Quantum Computers.
I'm talking about a machine able to verify all the possibles private keys and extract only the ones with balance. We already have the list of address with balance and the software for the brute force. But the quantum computers still not that power and simple mortals doesn't have access to them.

2.-Artificial Intelligence.
If an artificial intelligence can make an equation with a Linear regression where:
a(x)+b(y)=c
a=Address
b=Hash160
c=Private Key.

3.-Dooms Day.
If the humanity decide to use all their Nuclear bombs to destroy the world.

In those scenarios bitcoin will worth zero.

Bitcoin is a coin that never expires. That's why I can't say that the demand for Bitcoin will continue to increase day by day. Later this Bitcoin will continue to increase in price in a big way. in the past tense Bitcoin is in a much better position than it was. That is why it can be said that it will never be zero. You all can invest without fear. It is possible to get huge benefits from this investment.

If bitcoin ever drops to 0 then it simply means that the whole cryptocurrencies sector completely failed and probably won't be back. Regarding the question you're asking in the title, of course bitcoin could go to 0, just like Apple, Tesla, Google, etc. Technically everything can go down to 0.

We must be able to distinguish bitcoin with shitcoin in this regard.
The possibility for Shitcoin might be like that, even though the possibility is very large and there have been many examples of coins that initially pump craze and then turn out to be worthless.
But when we talk about bitcoin it is clear that this will be very difficult to happen even I consider this an impossibility because regardless of anything from the current price towards 0 it is clear that this is very sparse.

It depends on who is asking, and if you go bankrupt you will say bitcoin is worthless or will be worth zero. But for investors and incumbents, they will see this as an opportunity, a big buy of something almost worthless and sell it when it becomes valuable to some globally.
and the OP is a beginner who in my opinion is not very familiar with bitcoin by his own research and also does not have good knowledge and understanding of bitcoin or crypto.

and in my opinion, bitcoin will never be zero because zero is not a demand, and there will always be a demand for bitcoin and its cult and someone out there will always be willing to buy it.

Those are some shitcoins that you are talking about. You will see them on coinmarketcap trending (i don't even know why cmc doesn't filter those shitcoins. All they do is lure newbie investors) now and then. They get pumped for few hours, and then dumped. Most of the time you won't be able to sell. Or there are some "taxes" that you pay to the developers and you end up losing money (even though the price goes up). Those are the coins that goes to zero.

But bitcoin will highly unlikely go to zero. As long as there is someone buying, bitcoin will always have a value.

I don't think that is likely to happen.
The problem is that I believe we could have some sort of trouble with bitcoin itself, not that it will happen but that is a possibility. Which is why I believe that we could see something changing in there. If a technical problem arises, and someone figures out a way to hack into cold wallets, then it is all zero right? I am not saying this will happen, but I have to say that it is not 0% chance for that to happen neither, there is a possibility.

This is why people always say that "never say never" because it looks like there is a possibility that it could happen. This will result with the fact that people will end up with a "refrained" look towards bitcoin at all times.

Well, the OP is obviously and indeed a newbie in this kind of discussion and seriously didn't bother to do some research before starting a thread here in this forum. Bitcoin has a chance to drop to flat zero, yes, but that possibility is really like a razor-sharp type of slim. Even if the whales will work altogether, they cannot possibly sink the bitcoin to have a zero price easily because there are other holders as well who holds numerous amounts of bitcoins as well as those wallets who have been buried or forgotten.

That is exactly my thoughts, bitcoin cannot hit zero. Apart from believers who are always ready to buy every deep. There are whales who are on standby to accumulate more bitcoin. When the price comes too low the only disadvantage will be, bitcoin will become very manipulatable like altcoins. Bitcoin cannot hit zero and if it eventually does, count me to be a rich man.

Zero of what? USD? Theoretically you could say it's possible but practically it's not.
It's possible for a coin with a market cap of 100 million USD to go to 0 although it's going to be 0 in the form of less than 1 USD not in the form of 0.00 USD. It's not possible for something az big as bitcoin to go to 0 unless there's a proven vulnerability that cannot be patched. You'd need a black swan event for it to happen like a real Satoshi coming out and saying to the world that he's a US government employee and it was all an experiment to see how many people they can get to invest and now they're all dumping what they have and turning it to USD and then they're banning BTC in the US.

Don't let these rumors and market assumptions dictate your mind OP. Everyone can do his own baseless market assumptions but I encourage you then to analyze how unreliable it was knowing that Bitcoin is quite growing and spreading globally. If based on that scenario, we can't certainly think about sinking, and much more impossible if it has been considered as a legal tender worldwide.
What is happening now it seems to be enough to let people know that Bitcoin is having a bright future.

The context presented by OP must have the degree of separation between bitcoin and all other crypto currencies, according to your idea of a catastrophe, so please do not be confused, it is bitcoin + everything else that exists, always.

If you look at the other cryptos from where this paranoid idea of zero value surely arises, you should know that there are more than 500 projects that should not be in the market-crypto. So the stories and behaviors of other cryptos should not affect your confidence, the price of bitcoin if it is going to change can even reach unexpected low, in that sense you have to be prepared, each one in their pertinent decisions, but the zero value for now leave to the rest of the cryptos.

Yes Bitcoin can never go to zero. It is a very popular coin. Which is very popular all over the world Some coins like altcoins can go down to zero. But Bitcoin can never be heard.Maybe we won't have anything called cryptocurrency the day Bitcoin goes down.Bitcoin is slowly building a brighter future. Some countries are now legalizing Bitcoin as legal tender. There may come a time when Bitcoin transactions will be the most popular among people.

This is the reason why we are est ing because of the market volatility if it is not it is the sake line the other assets. Bitcoin can't be value to zero all coil you've seen are still have the value bit become zeo and also it is just the price of the Bitcoin but if you have the bitcoin still it is a bitcoin no matter what happen.

I did experience when Bitcoin dropped so hard in 2020 during corona fear that everyone was furious of the spread of the virus, the price never go below $3k and the same week, the price went back to range of $5k to $6k when institutional investors came in because they were on the bench to have it at discount, now they did, they wouldn't watch their investment get discarded away. Bitcoin is not going to zero, this I'm confident about.  8)

When we do speak about future then there's no such thing about assurance no matter what market we've been dealing with specially with Bitcoin which is the king or father of all crypto then it is really hard

to believe on that it would really just dump to $0 into its value which does simply imply that there's soo much support and trust on the community despite on having lots of coins in the market then it do

still able to place itself on the top which does signify that support is really that strong which its impossible that people would just let it would dump to have no value.

Bitcoin is full of mysteries, but it have got the real growth and the real adoption all around. Even the acceptance level over the years have peaked. This shows when someone gets out of the market, another one makes into the market. This means the growth isn't disturbed in any means. For this reason we can expect the progress to a higher price and not end up with Zero.

Looking at the growth and adoption of bitcoin in recent years, How can something as popular as bitcoin go to zero, that will never happen?
If bitcoin is zero, the entire crypto market will disappear and companies and countries that accept crypto will suffer heavy losses or even crash with bitcoin. Instead of thinking bitcoin will go to zero, you should think that bitcoin will hit 100k or 1 million USD in the future.

There will always be people who lost money on altcoins and claim bitcoin is bs, because they believe crypto is crypto and they do not know the difference between bitcoin and altcoins. We all know bitcoin is awesome and it will never be like any other coin.

But, not everyone knows this and that is why when they lose money on baby shiba floki meme token or whatever, they will say that "bitcoin" will go to zero, when they say bitcoin what they mean is all crypto, as in like the whole of it. But we all know that they made a bad investment and that’s it, there are great coins and there are a lot of them who will stay at the top for a long time so there is no worry for us.

The limited availability and uneven distribution of Bitcoin has increased its popularity as well as its price. One of the reasons for the increase in the price of Bitcoin is the increasing number of requests. This condition is the same as other goods, Bitcoin is basically also influenced by demand and the amount of availability in the market.
The high demand for Bitcoin makes the price higher and vice versa. If investors start selling Bitcoin simultaneously but the demand in the market is almost non-existent, then its value will fall.

So far, Bitcoin has always been able to survive the negative issues that hit it and Bitcoin is also able to withstand government intervention, its price increasing from year to year can give hope to anyone who keeps it. As long as supply and demand continues, never worry, Bitcoin will always have a price.

Have you ever noticed that when the price of Bitcoin goes down, the price of other alt-coins also goes down?  If you have noticed, tell me where the price of altcoin will go if bitcoin goes to zero.  And will there be anything in the world to say crypto currency?  I actually find it ridiculous that Bitcoin will one day be worth zero.

It's inconceivable to see people going crazy by hearing the news Bitcoin has no price. Shocked and all feelings mixed with the restlessness. but it doesn't look like it's going to happen that fast. you should rethink Bitcoin has no price.

It is technically possible for any cryptocurrency's price to crash to zero, as seen with the Terra Luna price crash. But, for something as popular and valuable as Bitcoin, some huge shifts would need to take place to allow for such a catastrophic loss of value. It's important to understand Bitcoin's functionality to understand why this is the case.

Anything is possible. I see it like Murphy's Law: Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Now you can say: What does going wrong mean? It can be with anything, not just bitcoin. Look at the currency in Venezuela, it's lying on the street and has no value. Look at the inflation in Turkey, people don't want to trade in lira, they want dollars or euros. Bitcoin can only develop in two directions. Up or down, there is nothing else and no one can see the future.

By the way, why do we keep having this sort of question about Bitcoin only when the market condition is in the bear trajectory? Is it that we have never seen this market dips before? It has to take more than mare bear market sentiment to think Bitcoins price will fall to zero plus, I agree with what goldkingcoiner stated here:

Truthfully, I very much doubt Bitcoin will ever be worth absolutely zero. Even the dollar note could never be worth less than the paper it is printed on. There must always be a bottom value. And unless we see an abrupt and sudden deadly, unfixable flaw with Blockchain, the technology behind Bitcoin, then there is nothing to worry about. And anyway, its best not to dwell on impossible scenarios. They only fuel your personal FUD.
If there is no disastrous problem with the network how can Bitcoin cost less than what it takes to mine it?

No. The probability of Bitcoin ever hitting zero is so tiny that there'd have to be some sort of technology/AI that could brute force private keys without taking billions of years for this question to have any relevance. Excluding extenuating circumstances, this seems like a pointless discussion to have.

There isn't an absolute minimum from an investors perspective, meaning the current bear market could produce a minimum of 15k USD/coin, 10k USD/coin, etc. Simultaneously, the absolute minimum is not going to be zero. The market wouldn't allow for that to happen, BTC is too engrained in the global economy.

There is always that possibilty that the value of BTC can be worth zero, but this is far from happening in this reality.

There are a number of factors and indicators that drive the price of BTC in the market (e.g. demand and supply, government restrictions, creation of new cryptocurrencies, etc.) but one factor that may entirely affect its price is through government prohibition. If a country starts to prohibit its usage and almost all countries would follow that step, then expect its price to slowly become obsolete in the market.

Though that may be the case, I seriously doubt that we will arrive at that point that all countries would prohibit its usage given that there is a positive effect currently on BTC.

In cryptocurrencies, the parameter for price movements to date is bitcoin, so if bitcoin goes to zero, the history of all cryptocurrencies is complete, because it's like a baby who doesn't have a nanny, and bitcoin is that caregiver. therefore I think it is very difficult to make bitcoin to zero. especially now that bitcoin has spread into many hands, so it is very difficult to make one thought, and I don't think the whales will do it, because the money field for them is this market

The probability of Bitcoin falling to zero is like the probability of gold falling to zero. It's impossible for people to go to zero when they have money inside. Everyone has to somehow sell their bitcoin. However, it can drop to zero this way.
Bitcoin is more volatile than gold. Not only that but btc do also has a lot of haters including the governments and what if all of them ban btc one day? That should cause a massive panic and can lead for all of the btc hodlers to sell before it's too late and their investments became useless. Gold on the other hand is more stable and also fully recognized by the government.

It existed a long time already so we are now sure they won't change their decisions about gold however the supply of gold can be more than the supply of btc and if many gold are found later on, its value can also decline harder but still I don't think it will touch until zero.

It's very clear what you're saying because I've also thought that way in the past so now I'm never thinking about Bitcoin being zero. Because it's a hard thing to happen to Bitcoin even though it's still possible to happen, but with so many hands holding Bitcoin and trading still continuing on Bitcoin, going to zero on Bitcoin is obviously a really hard thing to happen. And everyone also very often sees when Bitcoin begins to increase in the market, the average of other cryptocurrencies also increases with the flow of Bitcoin and this makes Bitcoin a parameter of price movement as you said.

I agree with all you said, Bitcoin is a recognised Coin that is known all over the world, it name alone market the entire cryptocurrency. People are eager to buy bitcoin but when they noticed the price of bitcoin they moved back, they went ahead and ask is their anyone for me to buy. So through bitcoin people know other Coin. So bitcoin can never be zero

I don't think there is any realistic chance for bitcoin to ever reach the value of 0 USD. Right now BTC is around 20,000 USD, going down to 0  from such high levels would never happen. As soon as there would be a decline of the bitcoin price to 10,000 USD investors would start buying heavily again. Same goes for the 1,000 USD barrier. Who wouldn't sell everything he has to buy bitcoin below 1,000 USD. I am sure at such low levels investors would take out loans just to buy more coins. The only chance I see for bitcoin drop so low in price would be if there were technical errors at the exchange and they show wrong prices.

It would be very difficult to imagine the price of Bitcoin reaching zero with such a large trading volume and holders, but there is no denying that it could all end and if it did then Bitcoin would just be history as there would be no more Bitcoin trading in the world. This year. This world. and Cryptocurrencies will only be a story although it is highly unlikely for the next few years or even decades to come.

It practically won't. We saw the gigantic crash of Luna after people proved that it's technically flawed. It was not that old and really didn't have as much market penetration as bitcoin and still, it fell almost 99% but didn't go to zero. It's price bounced back quickly and then you saw it floating around in the market. At worse the same thing could happen with bitcoin people someday realize that whole cryptography is technically flawed and it makes no sense in keeping your money in bitcoin and people start instant withdrawing. Even in this scenario there will be certain sect which will disagree with that theory and will keep on investing in bitcoin so those people will keep the price alive.

Yes, the price of bitcoin could absolutely go to zero. There is no way of knowing for sure right now if Bitcoin (and the rest of the cryptocurrency market) will survive over the long-term. For one thing, Bitcoin isn't the only cryptocurrency by any means, with more and more entering the market with each passing year. Bitcoin is still in its very early days and it is unknown how it will hold up when more powerful and sophisticated cryptocurrencies are released in the future. However, Bitcoin has also made some very significant strides over the years, and many people believe that further adoption is inevitable. Provided cryptocurrency survives over time, then it is entirely possible for Bitcoin to become a much bigger part of our world and society going forward. But, there are no guarantees in life, and people can always be tricked into believing things which might or might not have any bearing on reality.

Well, if bitcoin dropped to zero, then the whole altcoins will follow because whatever the price of bitcoin, it will also affect the price of altcoins. However, I don’t see this happening soon as we are still benefiting bitcoin and its high demand in the crypto community. And until bitcoin opportunities are there, then we won’t be seeing bitcoin losing its value and dropped to zero.

Bitcoin is a coin that is employed as a mode of purchases and it is understood as a root of accurate income by plenty of purchasers. Bitcoin is such a useful aid to gain and generate cash and the price of bitcoin is so enormous that its is not an effortless thing to let it zero in its cost. Bitcoin going to zero would mean 379$ billion dollars flying away and going somewhere else... It could mean the end of crypto universe, as without bitcoin there isn't cryptocurrency, or it could mean another crypto asset has overcome bitcoin with perfection. Personally I don't think an altcoin could take bitcoin's spot in the market. First because bitcoin is unique and every other currencies are simply a copy of it and second because once investors realized bitcoin was heading to zero they wouldn't invest in crypto anymore, fearing the same might happen to every other alternatives around, consequently leading them to irreparable losses.

The movement of Bitcoin certainly does not just go through without obstacles, as you can see some time ago, Bitcoin failed to maintain its price at the highest level. After that, the bitcoin price collapsed again until it touched the lowest level so far this year, price movements will continue to occur based on demand and supply in the market. Although until now bitcoin has not been able to return to its record high level, not a few parties are at stake so that Bitcoin does not collapse in the long term. Investors who are fanatical about Bitcoin will put their money when the price is at low levels as a very promising investment for the future.

Bitcoin has been able to get past the slanted issues that hit it. Examples include Elon Musk tweets on his personal Twitter account, the adoption of crypto payments in several trading platform companies and the regulatory influence of a country's monetary authority that can cause crypto prices to plummet. But once again Bitcoin was able to withstand all the storms that hit it, although Bitcoin has not yet received a special place in several countries, until now Bitcoin still has value and is considered a profitable investment for the future. So don't worry about the prospect of Bitcoin in the future, because as long as there are fanatical Investors who keep their money in this crypto asset, it will not make the value of Bitcoin to 0.

Something that we don't deserve to share.

although uncertain about the future or the things that might happen in the future, but based on the Bitcoin community and its support it is very hard to believe that it will actually lose its value, and Bitcoin is far from useless because the foundation is in place, strong and with big community
On just looking on the support then you could really eventually say that it does really have a bright future although nothing could really be assured on what the future looks like.It would be always mattering on

on the demand and community support which there's no doubt that it is really that high and its impossible that we could really say that it would really become zero in terms of worth.

Nothing is assured though thats why we should really be minding off about that risk management thing so that you wouldnt really get stressed nor shocked whenever the market do messed up.

As you have read from the above replies, Bitcoin is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. Price is one of the most important fundamental factors to be considered as well as supply and demand. If a large number of people decide to dump Bitcoin, the price will surely drop because demand will fall and supply will still remain for Bitcoin in circulation. Given this point, if Bitcoin price continues to decrease and reaches zero, it means there are no more people willing to hold it, which is impossible.

Future is un-predictable with 100% certainty because history vindicates that many times what happens was never expected or predicted.  The price of any asset including Bitcoin depends on what buyers are ready to pay for it.Bitcoin is very precious digital asset & it will continue growing in coming months/years because its supply will decrease after every halving but if WW3 breaks out then price of everything will fall to zero because there will be no buyers.

maybe it can, because this is a market, anything can happen, but the chances are small, because bitcoin is the most high-quality crypto so the possibility of being zero is very small, although small does not mean impossible, the name is also a digital asset, it could be that one day the internet does not exist and digital assets also disappear.

Anything is possible but i don't have that strong believe bitcoin would drop back to zero, not again and can never happened any where any day. It can only get to the lowest of $3k but can't drop $0.0.
I can just say you are dreaming or joking.

Unlike other coins/tokens, Bitcoin is unique. There are only a few coins that have a lot of utility, and bitcoin has the most and is widely accepted. The chances of it going down to zero are highly unlikely.

I understand your question, But I think your question is inappropriate. You have to believe that Bitcoin will never go down to zero. It is unlike other altcoins that will disappear from the market. Bitcoin is a trusted coin among crypto currencies that has been adopted by major countries. Bitcoin may go down due to a bear market but it will never go down to zero.
