Title: South Africa Delivers the most Bitcoin-friendly Innovation
Post by: naira on September 04, 2022, 01:47:15 PM

As reported from the Bitcoin Ekasi Twitter post (https://twitter.com/BitcoinEkasi/status/1554539426126204928) I found children in Africa doing daily grocery shopping using Bitcoin. The child from Africa has been digitally literate since childhood, through Bitcoin Ekasi (https://bitcoin-bay.org/) or often referred to as a non-profit organization has succeeded in creating bitcoin economic programs in various cities in South Africa. The organization partners with a company called The Surfer Kids (https://www.thesurferkids.com/) to empower children from an early age to earn money. The most famous of the program is surfing training. As a result, the child will get a salary in Bitcoin. With the work that the child gets, he can spend Bitcoin at several vendors who have partnered with Ekasi.

The positive point that I take is that this kind of program stage is really effectively implemented. Where to introduce the world of Bitcoin by way of direct transactions. So that in the future they are familiar with the digitalization payment process.

In your opinion, how far behind is our country when in fact the government does not want or does not provide support for something like this to happen? if under the pretext of no financial control then how jealous we are of African countries which in the next 5 to 10 years will be at the forefront of digital transactions, especially Bitcoin for the younger generation.

Even more interesting, is what happened two weeks ago.
There's 20 kids earning rewards, between the ages of 9 and 14.
A group of them, not all of them, but a significant number of them, came together and made a proposal to the coaches, of their own accord.

What did they ask kids to do?

With phones so cheap that one can buy them for just $25, we can be sure every other country that doesn't illegalize BTC wouldn't really be that far behind in adoption. Africa is taking it to the higher bar with thier innovation. We also knew they were able to have an option to send BTC thru SMS.

Maybe I misunderstood something, but I didn't find anything that would connect these kids to Bitcoin in the sense that they do something to get paid, but their coaches who teach them to surf are paid in Bitcoin. These trainers then try to pass on their knowledge to everyone else, including children - creating something similar to Bitcoin Beach in El Salvador.

However, it is interesting to see that children can obviously very easily master paying with Bitcoin, which in this case is LN - so if it is not a problem for them, then it will not be a problem for the older population either.

In your opinion, how far behind is our country when in fact the government does not want or does not provide support for something like this to happen? if under the pretext of no financial control then how jealous we are of African countries which in the next 5 to 10 years will be at the forefront of digital transactions, especially Bitcoin for the younger generation.

I think these are rare examples for which it is difficult to find an example in some other countries (with the exception of El Salvador). Consequently, it is not realistic to expect such things to happen in some developed countries, but in countries where people are much more left to themselves and the government does not care too much if someone promotes Bitcoin in this way. However, I am not sure that we can talk about the fact that Africa as a continent will be ahead of others when it comes to digital transactions (especially Bitcoin), because not all African countries are equal when it comes to human rights, the level of economic development and the level of corruption.

Are they able to withdraw their bitcoin too?

If the only purpose is to earn it to spend with vendors then that sounds like it's being used more as a gift card than actually giving them experience in using cryptocurrency (or maybe I've read that wrong).

Hopefully this idea will be taken forward and done in places such as schools where more people are able to learn a boy t it (most charities that reach out to children, including educational ones, normally don't get that many compared to how many schools can).

This is a good initiative and has alot of benefit to create among the growing populace of the young generation, also we must tlbe careful by not deviating fron the main purpose in doing this by ensuring the negative side is not allowed to overshadow the expected results and imoact on our children, remember everything good had negative side in which may manifest if not taken care of, we must not fail in helping the children get exposed to only the good side if it all whereby they can develop rach other to the relevant future ahead.

Good thing to hear about in such troubling times we are in now. This brings two things important so to make bitcoin adoption easier:
1, Gives youth an avenue of knowing how and what to use bitcoin for in their daily lives.
2. Has another country to see bitcoin as a means rather than an end to financial freedom.

You got to start from somewhere and build upon it from there. And this shows how this is being done in this African nation.

good topic,, bitcoin is now getting more and more popular in all circles from parents to kids. and indeed with bitcoin many are helped economically, and
now children are getting to know bitcoin a lot like in africa, but of course their parents must supervise so that they do it for a positive cause, and in my country also now bitcoin is starting to know and accept from all walks of life, i think in the future bitcoin definitely will be more popular.

Thats really interesting and a much wanted progress. From a country like South Africa such an initiative to support bitcoin usage among kids is really good. Also it keeps far high among the countries that are crypto friendly. The way by which the kids were rewarded with bitcoin is really good plan. Now, they'll also know about the value of learning.

This shows that African countries are much into cryptocurrency compared to the rest of the world. Another reason for the same seems to be the government and the inflated currencies.

It might only be the beginning. I reckon South Africa might also bring one of the largest inflows of new adopters to the cryptospace before the next bull market begins and it might also be the cause for the next bull market. Binance's partnership with the Nigerian government to create a digital economic zone might be an indicator that Africa is the next jurisdiction of interest after America and Asia.

Binance is partnering with Nigeria to build an Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA). The aim is to create a digital economic area similar to Dubai.

The report stated that the Nigerian authorities intend to build a zone that will be similar to Dubai’s virtual free zone. The space upon completion will be the first in the West African region.

NEPZA’s Managing Director, Adesoji Adesugba, said the country’s “goal is to engender a flourishing virtual free zone to take advantage of a near trillion dollar virtual economy in blockchains and digital economy.”

In terms of Bitcoin adoption, I think the younger generation is the fastest to adapt to the new technologies of our times. So it is definitely easier for them to understand and use Bitcoin compared to the older generation who would even find it hard to familiarize themselves with digital technologies.

But I think making young children work and earn money is not really empowerment. I hope these young children are also going to school and get the education they deserve. I hope they're also having enough time to just play and act like the children that they are instead of seriously focusing on livelihood.

There has been a part of Africa, I believe on the East coast that has accepted bitcoin as legal tender.
I can not recall the name of the city but this would bring them along the lines of El Salvador with being a crypto friendly nation.

In the future, more and more people will use bitcoin in Africa. Moreover, Bitcoin has become a legal tender in the country. so do not be surprised if the children began to be taught about bitcoin. either directly or indirectly.
It's ironic, when our country, which is more advanced in technology and modernization, still hasn't been able to take the same steps as El Salvador and the Central African Republic. But of course there are many things that must be considered for a country to make certain policies. like africa and el salvador they made a policy of adopting bitcoin is indeed they are in need of it. imagine el salvador before the adoption of bitcoin as a means of payment there. El Salvador is still a country that is not widely known by the outside world. so that tourists to the country is very minimal. despite the strategic location of their country if you look at the trade routes. but in the tourism sector they were less advanced at that time. but now after el salvador made a policy about bitcoin as a legal payment tool in the country, the tourism sector to the country is increasing rapidly. and help their economy a little. and el salvador is now a country that is quite famous. So do not be surprised if there is an increase in tourism there. and shops that accept bitcoin as a means of payment are commonplace there.
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQTrnRsUONus-5X1wLvpd_ZVkwirmRUpK6KkA&usqp=CAU

And soon in Africa, such a scene as in El Salvador will become common there. it takes time for the citizens of these countries to adapt. like in el salvador which initially had a lot of rejection from its citizens. but now the citizens there are getting used to and adapting to the new system. and in Africa I see people there will be more open in accepting bitcoin. hopefully more countries will make policies regarding bitcoin as a legal tender.

I haven't read any news about the State of Panama which is also interested in bitcoin.

I think Bitcoin is benefiting the  poor countries the most. The African countries like Nigeria and now Africa seems to be at the forefront of Bitcoin adoption and innovation. I think the main reason is purchase parity index value of daily Bitcoin earning in these countries are highest. Since their averege daily income is very low, a few dollars one can earn through Bitcoin is enough is give a lavish lifestyle in these countries.

As a continent, Africa is considered to be the next and can be the best frontier for cryptocurrency when it comes to real-life use and applications and it can primarily because people in this location can be more ready to be adopting this innovation...as more and more people got lesser choices so when presented with this opportunity many can be gladly taking it. Now, it is helping that there can be hub of innovations or platforms that are using their heads and not their high-flying ideas when it comes to marketing to the people just like this program for kids using Bitcoin which is to me looks like a surf-to-earn kind of thing. Hope the same success can be duplicated elsewhere and I am thinking that the same can also be popularized in El Salvador where many people already called its Bitcoin adoption as a failure.

I also have the same thoughts as you. And after all, Africa does need this innovation. and I think the younger generation there will be very easy for many to be interested in and even it seems that many are already interested in bitcoin. If we look at the increase in crypto users in Africa, we can see the potential for rapid growth in the country in the field of cryptocurrency. although there are still limitations in the country such as electricity which has not been able to reach the entire region. and the internet is not as advanced in our country. but it looks like it won't be a problem in the future.

Even Africa is in second place if based on data on the continent with the most user growth in the age group of 18-24 years old

Hard times always call for greater ideas and change in oneself. That’s what brought us to the current level of civilisation.

African countries are nothing but the same sort of example and it’s already on the course of bigger adoptions. With their continent’s poor economics (or income) it’s getting harder day by day to up lift national unemployment or development.

This is why Bitcoin is always hot topic in the bitcoin. It’s lovely to see someone is working hard for this. Hope they get to the next level soon.

Children should enjoy their childhood and have everything that every child should have, which is free education, at least 2 meals a day and protection from being used as cheap labor. Unfortunately, in many countries in Africa, but also in Asia, children are forced to work from an early age if they want to survive, because their parents send them to work instead of going to school. Projects that enable every child to have one hot meal at school encourage parents to send their children to school, which raises the level of educated children and gives them the opportunity to ensure a better life.

Bitcoin is not something that can change all that misery and poverty, but it can be part of the solution on the way to a better tomorrow.

What I know in South Africa is that there are several ATM machines available there, making it easier for citizens to withdraw their money at the ATM.
https://coinatmradar.com/country/197/bitcoin-atm-south-africa/
https://bitcoinafrica.io/cities-in-south-africa-bitcoin-atm/

South Africa continues to provide a lot of education about Bitcoin and this happens to children who are constantly taught to make it easier to do all transactions including shopping at vendors that have been provided, I think this is a good idea maybe there will be more small children or other adults who know bitcoin as an easy-to-use transaction tool.

It is necessary to introduce in schools there are indeed many who learn and they are increasingly if bitcoin is educated there.

In addition, the African point of view on Crypto including Bitcoin is very open. This makes it easier for people to know more. No wonder why Africa with all the conditions and limitations of the economy, food, and other resources actually motivates them to able to build an image of far-sighted thinking about technology. Despite all these obstacles, isn't this enough to motivate developed countries which are still silent about paying attention to digitalization. It is undeniable that we are in a changing transaction towards the digital era. Therefore, what Africa is piloting will be a consideration that every country can take part in being a part of Bitcoin adoption in the future.

This is an important point that requires developing countries in the world to open access to crypto channels, especially Bitcoin to children as a relay of the future. We cannot predict what will happen in the future and we also cannot determine their fate in the future, but with experience and knowledge we can guide and assist them in realizing their future.

South Africa is a great example of providing crypto innovation and for me countries in Africa are very rich compared to countries that restrict or even ban Bitcoin. Their vision of seeing the future could pierce the sky.

Bitcoin has now become friends with anyone when their hands are open for the benefits it provides. Children in Africa certainly excite us and as much as possible set a small example or provide education to the family. Simply put, if we can't reach the general public at least our families learn to get used to Bitcoin like simple transactions in the home environment.

I hope these children don't happen to generalize things that its easy to earn money in bitcoin/crypto by just surfing in the internet or whatever the task they are doing of this "surfing" to be able to get this salary.

It's good to see that someone can earn but for a child? I hope it wont fall as child labor which is considered to violate human rights, but i can understand the place/country. Yet it still good to see teens from 16 above is actually there as thought instead.

Bitcoin is not something that can change all that misery and poverty, but it can be part of the solution on the way to a better tomorrow.
the fact is that minors working to help their parents have become commonplace in developing countries and more often in countries experiencing ongoing crises. their parents don't want that either. Likewise, their children always want a normal life like children their age, which is to be able to play and go to school. But their economic situation and condition forced them to work just to fulfill their daily needs. In fact, I once asked a small child who worked at a relatively young age. I asked them if anyone forced them to work?
they answered innocently that they worked because they felt sorry for their parents who often did not eat. they the children know that their parents sometimes hold back hunger and pretend to have eaten and give food only to their children. so the children take the initiative themselves to work and help their parents.

but the fact is that there are also parents out there who have the heart to force their children to work.

But with the presence of bitcoin, I hope it can provide hope for convenience for these children in the future. and I've read there is a bitcoin community that builds schools for underprivileged children. and they also give free food. so that the children are excited to come to school. I would like to include a link to the news. but unfortunately I haven't found the news link again because it's old news. so a little hard to find. if i have found it maybe i will go back and link it. and I'm sure there are still many crypto and bitcoin communities out there who always donate some of their wealth to help people who can't afford it.

This might be an interesting fact about Crypto for now because if I look around me now who are in Crypto are children who really want to learn more (because it starts from games related to crypto) and some of them also have started from ten years old now.
I don't know what it's like in other areas but when I look at my area now it seems that Crypto is indeed more popular with teenagers.
