Title: Today's the Day!
Post by: Phinnaeus Gage on December 10, 2011, 05:17:01 AM
Personally, I can't wait. Would love to let the proverbial cat out of the bag, but I'm sworn to secrecy. You're welcome to guess.

The title of this thread with change twice more.

Don't worry! It's not scary or weird. It's... Damn you! You almost tricked me, again.

It's not software or it would be two weeks. Is it a Trade Hill website facelift?

Curiosity killed the cat, but in two more days, we'll bring him back.

Title has been changed.

Is it 12/12/11? The calendar year before 12/12/12?

It's 12/21/12 you gotta watch out for ;).

Hello, everyone. My name is Phinnaeus Gage and I live in Japan. Only kidding! I live in the US and my moniker is a pseudonym. Reason being: I want to remain...wait for it...anonymous. Yes, I enjoy injecting humor in my posts.

For the past 3 days, I've spent hours reading the messages on this forum. Yesterday, I spent eight hours reading everything @Allinvain wrote. I'm not a reporter of any kind, but wanted to see if I could help solve the missing bitcoins mystery. More on that in later posts after I past the newbie status.

I'm not a troll in any sense of the word.

My main objective is to start another "bitcoin only" commerce site, hence the joining of this forum. I won't be seeking suggestions, or the like, and will only share the site once it's up and running.

What I've enjoy about reading this forum is how the members, for the most part, have a high command of the English language. Thank you for that. I hope my contributations pass muster.

In closing, soon they'll may be an Onion headline that'll read: Chinese Prisoners Forced to Mine Bitcoins

Is this it?

Yeah, but there won't be a 13/13/13.

Note to self: Delete old posts I've penned so that they don't come back to haunt me--starting with the quoted one above.

Or, I can try this ploy:

That was not me, notme, but good find, nonetheless. Thanks for the humor, but this thread has nothing to do with that. Please guess again.

Is it 12/12/11? The calendar year before 12/12/12?

The date is the 12th, but has nothing to do with 12-12-12, or the like. But I could have easily used the 13th, but opt for the 12th to stray from that unlucky date, coupled with 12-12-(11 or 12) looks better.

I hate that expression, and every time someone says it, I feel obligated to post this (also it's my favorite poem)

Also, my mom, dad, and brother were born on the 13th, and I was born on the 12th at 9:45pm

Yeah, but there won't be a 13/13/13.

Unless we rise up as one and demand change!!!!  Overthrow the time keeping overlords!!!!

If that ever had a chance of happening, the Dr. would make you cease to exist if you had any part of it.

Since you are here, you have nothing to do with it and/or it will never happen.

Did you find a way to buy a new Troy-Bilt log splitter with bitcoin?  :D

I like how you think, but this would be nicer:

Just a little bit longer till I reveal what this thread's been all about.

Why the day of his last post (death)? Why not the day he launched bitcoin or day of the genesis block (birth)?

Because I've would have had to wait to long for the other dates to come around. Besides, his last post (death) works quite well since it's close to Christmas, when some Christians remember Christ's death.

I thought he was born in mid to late spring, when sheep were giving birth, too?
And anyway, this whole holiday was stolen from Yuletide and Saturnalia, which were celebrations during the year's coldest and darkest time, marked by a big "f you" to the shitty period with huge celebrations, excess, and depravity. That fits way more for Bitcoin, as something introduced during a really shitty time as a big "f you" to those causing the situation, which will hopefully, with the help of unrestricted capitalism, bring a long period of unbridled excess and depravity (beyond what we have already seen on these forums).

Yes, most scholars agree that Christ was probably born sometime in spring. My point was that nobody celebrates his death in December.

I thought that's when the Sun was resurrected? The sun stops falling on the 22nd, then 3 days later, the Sun rises again?

You're thinking of the Winter Solstice.

Winter solstice = Yuletide = Saturnalia (= Christmas). It's all the same holiday.

Which Christians? Last I checked, any Christian remembers Christ birth on Christmas, and his death on Easter. The actual date of his birth is hard to pinpoint, but the Bible clearly gives the time of year for his death, the stories put it right by the Jewish passover, in the spring.

I'm pretty sure that Phin knows about Christmas being a celebration for Christ's birth, and he probably penned that post pretending to be ignorant of that fact. I know him personally, and how he thinks, therefore pay the idiot no mind.

I think we have to drag you into the sock-puppet thread over in off-topic to discuss wether "Phineas Gage" and "Bitcoin 100" are, in fact, the same person? I have my doubts.

EDIT: Oh, wait, this is already in off-topic.

I is me! That should just about settle this issue.
