Post by: philipma1957 on September 20, 2022, 01:23:00 PM
First off thank you to marcotheminer he did a group buy with these.

Second off I hit me a block!

3% luck factor. edit with time luck will drift up it is now 4%

here I am 1 miner on solo

and 1 miner on shared pool

marcotheminer has 2 threads.

Does this mean you should spend and get one that is up to you.

read his threads and look at the two I have running.

I gave the third one to buysolar's daughter for her birthday

buysolar is a long time forum member that I partner with in a mine in Clifton NJ

feel free to post. questions etc.

I will post more photos tonight

here is the lucky block 3% luck is very good

https://i.imgur.com/t1PvwDb.png

here is the standard pool

even though more time and for a while both miners pointed to here it has earned less than solo due to my fast and lucky block hit on solo

https://i.imgur.com/eOmdAQb.png

so 59 grin with solo in under 24 hours

and 26 grin on safe pool in about 48 hours and some of the time 2 miners.

I will race these against each other and see if the san pool can catch up to the lucky solo pool hit.

at Marco thanks.

philipma1957,

What wallet are you using, I'm using the always.vip.  I just switched to 2miners and I'm assuming I don't need the memo in the address?

no you need

https://grinplusplus.github.io

I loaded it on a spare pc

copied the 24 words of the seed and did a password.

Since I do not particularly trust GitHub.io downloads

I used a spare pc to do it.

when the coins hit that wallet I will post a photo.

philipma1957,

Any idea on the efficiency of the power supplies?  I'm kind of wondering if we cant' drive these using a more efficient PC or server PSU with a breakout board.

Here's a fun graph, my power consumption on 3 units over the last 3 days.

https://imgur.com/yn9tf8Y

This kind of makes me wonder if these can't run using 70-80 watts with the right PSU and winter temperatures.

I also got some of these in marcotheminer's group buy.

Yeah I have been looking at a dozen oem websites that sell 12volt 15 amp bricks.

That is the brick size we get.

After careful study the worst brick I found had 78% efficiency and the best brick I found has 88%

So if you put in a 95% titanium  vs  78% the 111 watts would go to maybe 91 watts best case

but if it is the 88% then the 111 goes to 102 watts

If I can determine that these are 78% bricks I will post back with results using a titanium psu.

I think this adapter tip is 5.5 by 2.5 size

I will buy it I have an old grid seed cable

I will connect it to this tip and use a few psu's

out of stock

in stock

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0915MTZSG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

do not rush to buy any of the above. I will test and present results by Sat the 24th

very fast test today
https://www.amazon.com/Fanless-Modular-Bearing-Warranty-SF-1300F14MG/dp/B00SYR6YBA

this is much like a 1300 watt EVGA gold.

i hooked up a 5.5 by 2.5
dc adapter
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0915MTZSG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I had an old interface breakout board that let me do this a via screws

the psu was running some gpu's  and pulled 490 watts no ipollo

it now pulls 576-592

a range of 86-102 watts

the other one on a brick does 92-109

so it looks like a 88-91 psu gold is a lot better than the brick the brick looks to be around 80 or a bronze

so if you understand how to wire and choose a plat psu you should save 10 watts a unit.

The dc adapter tip is good but needs better wires than what comes with it

Also note this gear does have a power range of 14-17 watts as it pulses the draw.

I suspect if you get a psu like this
https://www.newegg.com/evga-220-t2-0850-x1-850w/p/N82E16817438064?

and wire correctly you could run 4 ipollo at 360 watts vs 420 watts brick

Thanks for the write-up, I might try this. The adapter you bought uses screw terminals, any concerns using these long term? I was originally thinking of soldering wire to a connector.

Thanks for the write-up, I might try this. The adapter you bought uses screw terminals, any concerns using these long term? I was originally thinking of soldering wire to a connector.

well the plug is rated for 10amps and 12 volts = 120 watts.

now that the unit is running on the gold leadex psu it has never gone over 102 watts.

it swings from 86 to 102  which should be okay.

I am thinking of finding a titanium as I have a few and see if I drop to 79-95 watts.

I used 16 gauge copper wire with the dc adapter about 2 feet long

Maybe it is 14 but It is at least 16 gauge.

should handle 13 amps or 13a x 12v = 156 watts.

so I feel okay with the tip and the wire.

I will try to photo this a bit more tomorrow.

i would think if you have a big psu like an evga 1600 watt plat ot titan you could likely do 9 of these grins and save 110 to 140 watts for the 10 pieces

I like playing with lower powered gear for mining.

these units scale well compared to the top of the line model.

price power efficiency are very close

30 x 300 = 9000k which was the price for the big model
30 x 1.2 = 36 which is the hash rate for the big model
30 x 111 = 3330 which is just about the watt use for the big model.

Here in the usa the small one can legally beat import tax.

if you get 2 or 3 of them.

I think I can do 3 more maybe 6 more. but surely 3 more.

Thank you, and for the thread. 3% luck on the first solo block ... nice!

momanz: good thinking regarding power supply and thanks for sharing the power consumption graph.

That's one shiny miner philipma1957, as always you are a blessing to this crypto space, can you please tell me how you these miners cost each? Also who is Marco? I am guessing he is the seller? Do show us more pictures, and stay blessed.

Hello, that would be me. I am not the seller - I just organized a group buy. iPollo is the manufacturer (the parent company being NanoLabs). The G1-mini retails at $299 on their site, group-buy1 gave us 10% off ($269/unit), and group-buy2 discount is to-be-determined...

Yeah me and Marco go back a long time to a  signature campaign back in 2014.

I will be getting 3 or maybe 4 more.

I will run all in my basement on a titanium psu.  I will post a ton of photos it will be fun.

Now that my solo one has not hit a second block luck has drifted from 3 to 60 %

still 100% would be pool luck so it is still better at solo.
