Title: [Warning] Bangladesh's channel Somoy Tv's YouTube channel hacked by ETH Scammers
Post by: ScamViruS on October 16, 2022, 08:15:22 AM
Bangladesh's largest news channel Somoy Tv's YouTube channel has been hacked. Hackers are now using this channel for Ethereum giveaway scams. This channel has more than 17 million subscribers. The channel is still under the control of the scammers and they will continue to use this channel for scam purposes until the TV channel gets access again.

Lol, this criminals or at least the people behind this hack might be sending some messages (besides trying to scam others).

Because as we all know that Bangladesh government is anti-crypto. And so with doing this hack and changing it to ETH maybe they also want to give the government the middle finger, hehehe.

But thanks to the heads-up and hopefully no one will fall for this trick.

I've checked it right now the name of the channel has been changed but the description is now showing in Bangladeshi language I don't know if they are in a recovery period, but I'm sure they will be able to recover their channel, Youtube respects government-run channels all they have to do is to contact Youtube to recover the channel, is Somoy have weak security that their account got hacked easily if they can do this to big channels like Somoy what more with small channels, channel owners should beef up their security, this is getting very rampant.

I just visited the channel, I am not sure if the channel has been recovered because while there are new uploads of vids from 4-5 hours ago the name of the channel remains the same(Etheruem2.0).

anyway, I find it kind of funny how the comment section is thanking the hackers for hacking the youtube channel and uploading supposedly videos of "true news". it looks like the news channel does not have a good reputation with some of the citizens in Bangladesh.

I think it will show the negative side of crypto to a lot of people. if the goal is a message to the anti-crypto government of Bangladesh.

when a hack is intended to deceive by doing anything including giveaways. Of course, the goal is to cheat. no other messages from youtube channel hacking. it will harm other people.

Unless they have another method of defrauding these subscribers, these hackers appear to be novices at what they're doing. How do you trick people into participating in an Ethereum giveaway after you've hacked a popular channel with lots of subscribers like this?

The subscribers can be duped into such schemes only if they are ignorant. I only hope they don't manage to scam people before the channel is reclaimed. After putting in a lot of work to make a life, people are always looking for a method to swindle others out of their legal earnings.

It is true that because of this hacking, the government of that country will become more strict about crypto. But here is another thing, a lot of news will be created about this hack and this news will go to those who did not know about crypto until now. So there are two types of situation here.

A country's largest news channel's YouTube account being hacked, and using that account to promote crypto scams, will certainly make the country's government think twice. So now the negative impact is more visible here, and more difficult times may come for crypto users in Bangladesh.

There’s a lot of incidents like this before, Youtube seems to be week when it comes to security, I guess they have to address this issues to avoid further scam promotions like this.

The only way to stop that is to contact Youtube, that’s a huge account and can easily attract newbies, I hope no one suffer from such scam promotions. For sure, regulatory agency will address that issue and will run after Youtube and askt their security protocols, that can be a big trouble for them.

All I know is the Youtube channel is attached to an email if the email security is weak there's a possibility of hacking, Gmail is equipt with text, 2FA, and other security measures and they will ask for security verification if you log in in a different IP, how com, these hackers able to bypass these security measures, they are really good at hacking so no channels are safe now if they can hack government channel they can hack popular channels too.

this is not the first time that famous youtube channels are hacked by irresponsible groups, usually they always make live videos about ETH, Solana or XRP giveaways

I often see incidents like that, especially in my country, even famous artists here who have more than 25 million followers in my country are also hacked, which is the same as holding an ETH giveaway, I think people who have access to a youtube channel of this size should be held by people who understand about maintaining security are not just video editors, so there won't be another case like this in the future

Bangladesh's largest news channel Somoy Tv's YouTube channel has been hacked.
The channel is under the authority of Somoy TVs authority and they are updating their activities by uploading videos as usual. And they have confirmed by this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enaQhek1id4 though the name of the channel is still showing Ethereum 2.0.

It's great that they managed to recover the channel again. Somoy TV has not yet changed their channel name due to YouTube's further investigation. This hack may have been discussed a lot in Bangladesh as it is the biggest news channel in their country. Hackers also attacked other channels of Somoy TV. But the hacker was not able to gain access to that channel.

They should recover the name, not all their followers are aware that the name Ethereum will be retained because of the investigation

Youtube hacking happens when
Quote
YouTuber inadvertently downloads the malicious software, it grabs specific cookies from their browser. These “session cookies” confirm that the user has successfully logged into their account. A hacker can upload those stolen cookies to a malicious server, letting them pose as the already authenticated victim.

https://www.wired.com/story/youtube-bitcoin-scam-account-hijacking-google-phishing/

So even if the security is tight and they have verification on their login they can mislead the system that the hacker is the real owner of the channel, Youtube owners should be educated on how these hackers work to protect their channels, Youtube channels are the targetted sites nbow because they hackers can make a lot of money here from their fake giveaways.
