Title: RX5700XT Sapphire Stable Miner ?
Post by: igotek on October 19, 2022, 04:49:20 PM
RX5700XT Sapphire Stable Miner ?

I used the phoenixminer. It was really good. It starts to give errors after several months. I use HiveOS.
I asked the developer about it. He told me HiveOS use different kernels from phoenixminer and the problem is that.

I started to use Team Red Miner. But there is is always errors.
No matter ethash or another alogirthm on TRM.
I have 8 rigs, each rig has 12pcs GPU. I dont know what should I do ?
I changed the risers, the riser works well at another gpus.
do you have any advise ?
There is no any error if i play game on windows.

Code:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2022-10-19 10:00:27] GPU 5: detected DEAD (13:00.0), will execute restart script watchdog.sh
[2022-10-19 10:00:27] Watchdog script executor thread executing script 'watchdog.sh'

You try removing all over clocks?  When i mined nim on my 5700s it was very buggy and crashed a lot.

It looks primarilly like a HW issue with GPUs 5 & 9. Reduce clocks on those GPUs to see if it helps.

I flashed the original bios.
I started the mining at factory settings.
The same result.

But the same gpus have no problem when mining on windows or playing games on windows.

My tip is: try another miners like NBminer or Gminer, they are good too
I don't know exactly why, but I had a mixed rig with 5700, 5700xt, 3060ti, 3070 and RX6600, and sometimes I had the same problem, the rig used to crash after a few days and it was buggy. With another miner my rig started to run 24/7 again, but after several days, another crash...

Maybe it's some random bugs, you have the option to try windows on at least the problematic rig, windows is not so hard to maintain.

lolminer works well for 5700XT but it needs higher power than TeamRedMiner RR Mode :(
I think I will use lolminer at the end.
You know electric fee is too high. Each watt is important.

Lolminer I have been using it for my rig which is with a lot of different cards and one Rx 5700 Xt Gigabyte in it and never gave me any problem while all other miners after a certain time usually a maximum of 105 hours meaning just over 4 days they crashed,in Lolminer I had an whopping 375 hours without problems and it was only electricity going out that the miner was shut down.

For electricity the 5700 Xt if tuned correctly should not consume more than 115 watt for a card which I think for 55 Mhsh is a great value for the money. It is all because of the stupid Russian war that energy prices have skyrocketed this high unfortunately.

I have a similar situation on RX 480 video cards. On video cards where errors occur, I installed the original BIOS and use the stock settings. If you increase the frequency, then such errors occur more often.
In my case, this is the problem of chip degradation after 5 years of mining.

So far i found trm is best for my sapphire rx5700xt pulse micron memory.the secret is dont push memory oc too much.for example they work solid stable at 1800mhs voltage 720mv.1200core 1800 memory 720mv they do 54-55mhs at etc rock solid.im on win10
And best part in trm is you can set memory temp target ijust loved how trm keeps mem temps same.perfect miner for rx5700

Sure, I have tried older versions.

In Ethash, TRM gives many error on some GPUs.
In Ethash, lolminer is good for RX5700XT. No any error.

In argon2d-nim, TRM gives many error on some GPUs. TRM is the one option with good hashrate.
In argon2d-nim, NoncerPro Miner, Nq Miner and Sushi Miner gives too low hashrate.
is there any alernative miner for argon2d-nim ?

Sapphire Nitro+ 5700 XT and Red Devil 580 GPUs are the best ones I had experience with since last 4 years of mining. They both are very silent and mined for 2 years non stop. I stopped using them since ethereum merge. They only were used with phoenix miner

Try underclocking the GPUs that fault the most.

The Radeon 5700 XT has been on sale since September 2019, and for the first 4 months or a little more, the hashrate was minimal, because the miners did not optimize their software. Then there were many models with poor cooling, which caused overheating of video cards. You probably bought the most expensive models with the best cooling.

Agree that the hashrate was less than what others have posted. Also, I wanted less noise and was fine with lower hashrate. Same for my 580s from RedDevil. A bit expensive because I bought at the peak of 2018 but very quiet and worked non stop for over 3 years.

It's 100% over clock problem, reset your OC to default and try with Teamredminer again, after things are back to normal, use OC settings that others are using in hiveOS instead of coming up with a number yourself.

I don't understand when you bought RX5700XT video cards. The first hash rate was less than 10 megahash, so these video cards cost a lot and were not in demand among miners. Optimized miners appeared much later, then BIOS firmware appeared.

I had bought in Q4 2020 from Amazon. They were giving around 52Mhs on Ethereum.

TRM is great miner for RX5700XT to mine Ethash algo. You need to setup correct OC and downvoltage. I have several rigs with RX5700XT, uptime is month at minimum (yep, sometimes I reboot 'em).
To know more how to OC and downvolt - dowload TRM for Win, there are detailed instructions in archive, read them all, they are almost step-by-stem/

And on Linux with R Mode - TRM is unbeatable for the rx5700xt - 100w or less with around 56mh.
