Title: List of hobbies to try
Post by: Chripto on November 01, 2022, 09:46:51 AM
Hey folks,

I noticed during the quarantine that I pursue far too few hobbies that I enjoyed in earlier years. To add more adventure to my free time, I made a list of things I'd like to try - a (partly-checked) bucket list so to speak. Of course, the various things on this list could not be practiced during quarantine, but I'd like to include them for inspiration nonetheless.
I implemented the following categories:
Sport, Outdoor, Creative/DIY, Nerdy/Science (no claim to completeness - let me know if there is anything I missed)

Wow that is a really extensive list, I can see you put a lot of work into that list. There looks like a lifetime of activities to try there :)

I may be being really dumb but I can’t see running/jogging in the list. I think lots of people do it to try & keep a decent level of fitness. Maybe you should include it but you have included pretty much everything else. I can’t think of anything else.

No problem, brother. If you really have tried all those activities since quarantine hit with COVID then I have full respect for you. I used to hate walking/hiking but when COVID happened all the shops were closed, all we were allowed to do was exercise, walk outside etc so I took up walking. I still do it now, so lockdown was good for something :D

My new hobbies are:
- IEM (In-Ear Monitor). I really like the sound coming out of the device. With less than $50 you can actually get a decent setup. Before the IEM era, you have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to enjoy music either with speakers or headphones.
- Winemaking. It only needs grape juice, sugar, yeast, and time to concoct delicious wine. In the country I reside, wine is expensive af, so this hobby is so beneficial.

Just keep in mind that any hobbies will burn money if you don't have discipline. Shit like jogging also demands running shoes, smartwatch, etc. lul and don't forget the vitamins/protein shakes ;D

Don‘t get me wrong  ;D I didn‘t do all this stuff since covid, just some of it. The rest is on the bucket list! Just wanted to share my list so anyone of you guys can find inspiration :)

Btw how wonderful is a walk outside every other day? Old people knew it all along  :D and you can improve your move-to-earn Apps aswell!

Some of the hobbies that I enjoy are cycling, mountain biking, reading, and meditation.

There is nothing greater than the feeling of being outdoors from my time off work. This helps me with my mood, reducing stress or any anger that I have. It’s hard to believe that not only are my pastimes something I enjoy but I can make sure that my physical health is in check.

I plan out my destination and gather my gear. Most of the time it is to the beach taking in nature, the sounds, the scent, and the scenery. Mediating on the sounds of nature, birds calling, listening to the waves crashing into the sand. I also do a little reading, not on an electronic device, an actual book to read.

If you have plenty of cash (or crypto) to expense and a good amount of land to spare (or just your backyard), go with beekeeping.
You will get honey and You will get the satisfaction of helping preserve their numbers. We, humans, need them.

Per Albert Einstein:
"If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left.
No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.

I may be being really dumb but I can?t see running/jogging in the list, neither is hunting it seems(I'm usually doing some whitetail and hogs around summer with my Ruger, all you need is a few boxes of 556 ammo (https://gritrsports.com/shooting/ammunition/rifle-ammo/5-56-ammo/) and you're good to go. I think lots of people do it to try & keep a decent level of fitness. Maybe you should include it but you have included pretty much everything else. I can?t think of anything else.

I'm back to hiking, but gotta thank COVID for my home gym :D Had to drop a pretty penny for all the gear, but now I can work out in peace in my garage at least!

I like to be confused with my hobbies, see here I'm interested in living for a while, uh, bored, change again, bored again, change again, bored again, it's been going on until now and nothing has worked out for me.

Wild life photography sounds great! I'm getting a decent camera one of these days, so let's see...
If you get great pictures too, that's great!

Wow, that's a really good list. But in the list of sports, I don't see badminton and football. I think it should be included 😁
