How long is long? Multi year investments are generally a good idea based on the past (everyone who's held for more than 4 years so far has made a profit afaik).

If you plan to invest for only a year or less, you'll probably be disappointed and might just be back at these price levels this time next year. If you plan to hold for 2 years, there's a much better chance you'll have made a return on your investment.

With that being said, there might be fewer security concerns related to shorter term trading (protocol related issues cryptos - especially new ones - might undergo). You're shielded a lot from these with bitcoin but it's always a bad idea to sell flash crashes if something does come up as the markets here often overreact.

Hello! Welcome! Have you already made yourself familiar with Bitcoin's overall price history? Have you been observing its daily, weekly, and monthly price changes?

If yes to both, I suppose you've already noticed how Bitcoin's price has risen from less than a cent to almost $70,000. But that was almost a year ago. 6 months ago, the price was already at $40,000. Today, the price is only around $20,000. However, the projection in 2-3 years from now is that it will reach at least $100,000.

With this, I'd say it is better to focus on the long-term. Its volatility and extreme price fluctuations are happening in the short-term. Although you can earn from those, it is risky and hard to predict and probably stressful, too. The long-term option is the safer choice.

Here I will show you about Bitcoinn chart since 2013, what do you think? it's obvious long term prospect is far better than short term!

Investing in general (not only with bitcoin) should mostly be long term. If you're going to do short term, then you're pretty much trading not investing.

EDIT: you've already made 232 posts in total and somewhat you're still a "newbie in bitcoin"?

The only thing you need to do is to look at the history, the charts show that bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that has gone up and stayed up in the long run. For example other altcoins like ethereum went up against bitcoin (to 0.15) then got dumped and never went back up again.

Additionally try to think of bitcoin as a currency not an investment. As a currency you can use it for payment and both send and receive money. Even earn money using bitcoin. That way you maximize the benefits you are getting from bitcoin.

For a newbie Yes particularly those who bought at the top like $69K. But even those who bought at $18k could sell after 3-4years but most importantly sell when they know they have profited. It's easy to trade in short-term when there is a bull run which a newbie can try buying back every dip.

If you invest for long term but you keep watching the market, you might have to do it short term too. Be a day trader. Watching prices is addictive.

For sure long term investment is better option for bitcoin investment as you can see people who have invested and hold it for more then 4-5 years are always in profit. It would be beneficial as a newbie to invest without looking for the charts and all that panic due to volatility so say invest for long term only in my suggestion. If you invest at $20k also then after 5 years at most you will be in a profitable situation so best is go with this option.

true investment has a different plan for everyone. but if you look at how bitcoin moves in the market. we can see how bitcoin is the right asset for us to invest in the long term.
Some people don't like long-term investments. so they will make a bitcoin trading plan for the short term.
but I personally, a person who is not very good at trading, would prefer long-term investment. I'm sure it's more profitable even though it should take a relatively long time.

Do whatever works for you since both can be profitable with the right skills, it is just that I really think it is easier to acquire the skills necessary to become profitable over the long term, as long as you are patient and you actually believe in the long term potential of bitcoin and you are not only interested in making money.

Now it is also possible to make short term profits too, but this requires to train yourself on the ability to trade the markets and to keep yourself calm after several losses in a row, if you can do this technically you could obtain more profits trading than by investing, but the number of people which can actually do something like this is many times smaller than those which can hold their coins for the long term and obtain profits this way.

Short term investment makes sense when the market is bullish - it's likely to crash, possibly below your entry price, so it's better to take a profit while you can, instead of having an unrealized loss. But when the market is bearish, like it is right now, it's better to plan for a long term investment, you should buy and wait, without worrying about the price, for the next bull market. Short term trading in bear market is more risky, because the market often goes sideways, there's a lot of bull and bear traps.

What if you invest in bitcoin until the price increases or reaches a new ATH to sell the bitcoin at a high price and make a big profit.
It makes more sense to do that than not knowing when to sell your bitcoins.
And if you do that, in addition to making a big profit, you will also have a lot of money that you can use to buy more bitcoins when the price drops.
After reaching a new ATH, the price will drop drastically and that's when you can buy bitcoins again.

Long-term meaning 3 years? 5 years? 10 years? because different time frame = different strategies for me.

Bitcoin moves in cycles, and you can see it in its history. Bitcoin tends to make a bull run every after 4 years and then will enter the bear market. It happened in 2017-2018 where Bitcoin rallied as high as ~$20,000, but the year after was the year of hell where Bitcoin went from its ATH down to near the ~$3,000 price. Same with what's happening right now. Bitcoin rallied last November of 2021 to as high as ~$69,000 and now it's currently moving sideways at around the ~$18,000 - ~$25,000 price range.

In general, long-term investing is better and it's less stressful to many including me so I'd suggest you go long term but you're a newbie like you said so maybe it would be better to at least watch some videos and equip yourself with information so that you'll be ready if the worst thing comes. Maybe I'll consider taking profit every bull run and re-invest it when the bear market starts.

The prospect of investing in Bitcoin is long term I have seen history before showing that the long term will be better than the short term, and we know investing in the designation for a long time so that it will produce good profits.

As a beginner you have to plan carefully and target how many years to invest in bitcoin, for example 3 or 5 years, but in my opinion the longer you hold bitcoin, the greater the opportunity, so investing in bitcoin is the best way for you to choose.

Of course you have to be mentally strong during your investment because the bitcoin market has high volatility, sometimes the market crashes which makes us tired of waiting so we can't survive all that way, but I hope you can understand bitcoin and the market so that it won't cause your decline from bitcoin investment.

Well it is called "investment" anyway so I think that pretty much sums up what you're asking. I had sold some of my old investment but then whenever bearish season arrives, I am going to buy back that sold investment to invest another in the long term.

Might be hard to do it, but as long as you're willing to lose what you need invested, you would be fine.

If you're pretty new at it then long-term. Try to study what trading is and the pros and cons of doing it before deciding whether to convert to short-term or not (or you can honestly do both). We're down pretty big right now so it's pretty perfect for an entry toward investments in the long term as well. I don't think there's a "better" option between the two tbh, it's just a matter of what you prefer and what you can and can't do. I gave up on trading since it wasn't really for me so I just went about to doing DCA.

I've never used bitcoin because I'm a beginner in crypto and bitcoin. so for now I just continue to save bitcoins because I think bitcoin in the future the price will be very much high,
good luck with your investment. indeed investing in bitcoin is very popular with many people including me too. because bitcoin has high potential and my prediction of bitcoin in the future will be very far in price, and I also have bitcoin and I haven't sold it because I will use it for future investments.

I am always interested in such banal topics that you involuntarily begin to think that the creator survived the lobotomy operation. OP, what happened to your previously purchased bitcoins? Why don't many of the newbies realize that their post history is visible to the community? And the illogicality of the posts makes you understand why another empty topic is being created.
OP, do you really not understand the answer to your question, or is it not you who have been repeating for three months about the value of investing in bitcoin?

Always go for the long term, I don't know, but even if in real life, like investing in businesses or another form of investment, the best result is in long-term investment. Just imagine you bought bitcoin last 2010, went short-term, sold it all in 2011, and gained profit, right? But what if you go long-term and sell it at today's price? Then, sure, the results are far better than short term. But you are still depending on you if what you prefer most since it's your choice. We are just giving opinions here, but our opinions are what most of us have experienced.

All forms of investment are good for the long term, including cryptocurrencies, especially in bitcoin because of its proven track record of generating significant returns over the long term.
and my advice is to do DCA because the idea behind DCA is to buy consistently regardless of whether the market is going up or down due to fluctuations and
DCA will help you disciplined to buy more bitcoins when the price is down and less when the price is going up. And this will make it easier for you to make investment decisions and avoid emotional decisions.
Buying within your means with money you can afford to lose and doing it consistently is the most appropriate strategy for novice investors, the longer you invest, the greater the amount of money you will save with more optimal returns.
and you don't need to rush to get rich, because investing does take time to show results even up to 10 years.
and the investment decisions you make today will have a big impact if done regularly and consistently over the long term.

No one knows what will happen in the future, but during the current or next year it will be a golden opportunity to buy bitcoin at a low price, and therefore keeping bitcoin for 3 years will be very profitable.
It all depends on how much you invested, the amount for each month, and the return on it.

If you look at the full history of bitcoin you will see its development in the long term, I think you will find the answer without the advice of others. It doesn't matter if you are a new or old investor, but before investing always do your own research and analysis, don't invest according to anyone's advice because we are all different in mindset and life circumstances.

Bitcoin is a diversified form of investment, it can generate profits in the short term by trading and can also be held for a long time for profit. Set yourself a plan and goals that fit your finances.

The answer completely depends on you. If you just want to invest on something solid for long years, then definitely buy Bitcoins and hold it for many years. This is considered as long term investment. But if you want to invest in Bitcoins and want to cash out immediately after reaching a certain price target, then this can be considered as short term investment. Now depending on the necessity and requirement, you should carry out your actions. If you have separate money from emergency fund and want to invest in Bitcoins, then definitely go for long term investment and enjoy the profits when you retire.

Since you are considering investing, I assume you have an exit strategy. There is surely a goal or a magic number in terms of profit you have in your head. Depending on how fast the market moves to that zone determines the end of your investment plan.

If you are considering putting in $10.000 with the aim to profit another $10k and take home $20k, just wait until the market gets there. Maybe in a year, maybe in 5. So, long-term or short term doesn't really matter. But if you are considering speculating just to see what will happen in 3 or 5 years from now, just invest an amount you are comfortable with losing and leave it alone.

Life circumstances can change rapidly. When you are in dire need of money, selling at a loss doesn't seem like a bad idea.

For me, both investment time frames are good but with respect to different individuals, because it can be profitable when you have the necessary tools and knowledge to take advantage of the fluctuating price nature of the market. But for a newbie who has no trading experience and wishes to take advantage of the benefits Bitcoin has to offer, then I will strongly suggest that investing an amount you can afford to lose in a long term is the best option, as there is every tendency Bitcoin doing far better in long term compared to short term

Buy and hold as long as you can to resist the urge to spend. I mean, the goal of investing is to be able to see them increase by a few percent. If it happens within just a few days of starting, it's fine to spend early. Investment term is conditional for me.

It is undeniable that bitcoin is one of the long-term crypto investments that are in demand by many people, including myself, who is one of the many people who invest in bitcoin in the long term, even on-chain research data reveals that more than 60% of bitcoins in circulation are owned by companies and individuals who are long-term investors, for those of us who have minimal knowledge of bitcoin and we have other activities, it would be better if we invest in the long term.

Depending on both the short term and the long term when you can manage risk by making good trades it will not deter investment. but in my opinion, so far Bitcoin will always provide a very promising long-term income. But the portion of a person's needs will be different, so it also needs to be considered properly. If you are a beginner and do have some cold cash, then long-term investing in Bitcoin will answer your doubts.

Histories of bull run's happen on bitcoin will determine all of it that this is good investment so those doubts coming from people looking only on bearish condition is not so valid because if they only look for short term for sure we cannot get the best result on it so doing a long term hold for bitcoin is really much advisable if we can't afford a short term trade because this one could give us more better result.

Investing Bitcoin for long-term is always the best, but what matters is how long you can be able to wait. One thing you need to know before investing in bitcoin is that bitcoin is volatile,  you can't really predict the market. It will be better for you to do research how the market is before now, so that you can be able to make a good decision and not to be in a confused state when you see the market go dip. Try to know the market history to be sure of what you are doing.

Based on the advice and opinions of most of our senior colleagues who have responded thus far, long-term involvement in Bitcoin is the best, because early Bitcoin investors understand the value of investment and gain more than short-term investors, but the choice is yours.
Will you be able to withstand the ups and downs of the Bitcoin market?
Can you be patient and set a goal for your Bitcoin before selling it?
These are the questions you must answer; if you can withstand such pressures, you can have a long-term investment that will undoubtedly be profitable because Bitcoin has a very bright future.

Investing in Bitcoin for a short term period is not the best because you might not get it to the fullest. If you want a better investment practice will good profits then you need to choose a long term investment so that you will learn how to be patient with the market no what how dip the market goes. Some you set your mindset for a long term investment then you will sure get the big profit which would make you the kind of person you want to be. Going for a short term investment can make you too much skeptical about the market making so few loses.

Yes, so my opinion too, and after I saw the chart you showed, I'm even more convinced that long-term investing is much better. and I will patiently wait for the right time to sell.
That was more convincing, honestly. You already figured out what will be the benefits when investing long-term but the thing you should know is that even short-term holding gives you a profit as well. But the question is if are you committed to holding long (years) and is able to wait for the right time to sell your Bitcoin or if it was just in your mouth.

Some people had talked about it but guess what, many of them have failed, it is a broken promise. I'm afraid you will be like these people.

You will not get anything investing short-term, the general investment advice that is given is that you should invest an amount you can afford to be without, the reason for that statement spells long term, that is invest an amount that you will not be tempted to touch. Also before you go into investment you should also know that there are a lot of risks involved, you should make yourself conversant with the safety methods and ways to secure your investments.

Every investment, you need to know how the system works per circle, i terms of Bitcoin investment, it always have four years price difference duration, which has been a long term investment, because of Bitcoin halving, which make it to be more scars with a high price pump in the market, therefore, bitcoin should be a long term investment for bigger profits returns.

The majority in the thread seem to recommend long-term investment, and I agree with them. If you're set to invest in Bitcoin for a period of, say, 6 months or less, it's very realistic that the price won't change much over this time or even that it might get lower. Of course, you might get lucky and invest right before or at the beginning of a bull market, in which case your short-term investment can pay off nicely, but that's not very likely to happen. If you invest and are willing to wait for 2+ years, I'd say it's very likely that you'll see good returns on your investment. But if you invested money, and you see that in 7 months you already have a pretty nice profit, there's no sense in waiting for another year or so because, chances are, the price will fall again, so unless you want to wait for a longer time (another couple of years) for the next bull market, I'd say it's better to cash out.
It's important not to be greedy, to be realistic about returns, to keep your coins in a non-custodial wallet and to invest what you can afford to lose because investing always means taking a risk. Good luck, op!

I think it all depends on our goal some would prefer short term if they already gain the profit that they are aiming,
For me it is better to be  a long term holder specially if you would start accumulating on the bear market.

That's a tough problem. Because I know holding back requires a strong mentality. In fact I had to learn to be patient until recently. Indeed, the average winner is the Holder, they have a tremendous increase when they are able to hold on longer. But holding back has to have an end goal and you have to be disciplined with your decisions. In addition, there are indeed some people who can hold back but don't know when to take off.
If you feel unsure, maybe you can do both for your funds for the short and long term. Remember choose the correct coin capable of surviving and constantly evolving.

Can you be patient and set a goal for your Bitcoin before selling it?
These are the questions you must answer; if you can withstand such pressures, you can have a long-term investment that will undoubtedly be profitable because Bitcoin has a very bright future.

It is indeed a tough problem for most because they live in doubt about Bitcoin. But at the moment that they give the fullest trust in it, I'd say it was easy for them to hold.

Moreover, holding Bitcoin for the long term doesn't guarantee a profit, not even in the short term. Because what really matters most is when we sell them. But if we say that we buy Bitcoin during the bear season, hold, and then sell when the bull season comes - that is exactly a profitable stragegy.

Bitcoin is an extremely volatile asset and almost no one can predict its price in the short term so everyone tends to view it as a long term investment and if you look long term, you will see bitcoin will always increase in price.
Short-term or long-term investment is up to you to decide but you just need to know that bitcoin is a high-return, high-return investment that comes with high risk. So only invest what you are willing to lose and don't invest all your assets in bitcoin.

Before you invest in bitcoin, you must have had a long-term purpose for your investment. Which every crypto investor normally has a target price for his/her investment. Your target price can take years before it hits the price you want it to be.

So, the question now remains what's your target price for hodling bitcoin for so long? Are you ready to hodling bitcoin for so long or not? before it gets to your dream price. I think you will be in a better position to answer how long you are to wait

Investing in general (not only with bitcoin) should mostly be long term. If you're going to do short term, then you're pretty much trading not investing.

EDIT: you've already made 232 posts in total and somewhat you're still a "newbie in bitcoin"?
There’s a difference with that. And most probably, if you aim for bigger profits not only in crypto but in all sources of investments, you should be ready to invest in it for long term. Although some may still get decent profits in just a short term duration, but it’s rare to happen. Most of the successful  investors have definitely invest and hold for long term, because they have set long term goals from the start that made them unbothered when the price suddenly crash or move sideways.

The truth is that I am not very expert in investment, I do not even know many things, but I can assure you of one thing, that if you buy Bitcoin right now it is the best thing you can do in your life, what I want to tell you is, that if you love yourself yourself, you should buy bitcoin if you have the economic means, because it will be the investment of your life and your early retirement ´because there will be no other asset that rises as much as Bitcoin, I do not think that bitcoin will die, people already they ask how to get the bticoin, why it seems so expensive to them and a person who doesn't know much, is going to say, if it was at $20k and then at $70k it will surely go up to $150k and then it will continue, it is the best investment-savings that can be do.

No one knows what will happen in the future, but during the current or next year it will be a golden opportunity to buy bitcoin at a low price, and therefore keeping bitcoin for 3 years will be very profitable.
If it's based on past history, then it's definitely profitable but about the future it's a hope that might not be certain. As you said, No one knows what will happen in the future. So therefore, everyone who wants to invest should first consider the risk for the amount of money can afford to lose because the first point is that no one knows the future even if we are absolutely sure that there is good potential for repeat.

It all depends on how much you invested, the amount for each month, and the return on it.
The percentage is the same, but the size of the profit depends on how much funds the OP has.

i am a newbie in bitcoin, and i plan to buy bitcoin,, and will invest in bitcoin, and i want to ask everyone? if investing in bitcoin is it better short term or long term??? but in my opinion, long-term investment is better, but what do you think?
Specifically for Bitcoin: Unless you know trading, long-term. Investment in bitcoin should also not be done in just one big chunk instead make a habit of averaging out your deposits on every dip. This way you get the overall asset at a better average price. People who bought everything on the tops of 50 and 60 are still regretting but yes at the current price it might still look tempting to do investment in one shot. So consider this as well.

General Investment Advice: Invest based on your needs and aspiration. Everyone when he invests has a goal or vision in mind so invest according to that vision and the horizon of your aspiration. That will be a better plan than investing merely based on the asset.

I think the goal is important how long we do it and of course long-term investments take a long time as well as the desired target price, for example I myself plan for 5 years or more, the target price is still not fixed because I know bitcoin is very volatile it could be 100k or 200k in the next 5 years but I have confidence that bitcoin is always increasing so I use it now to buy more bitcoins when the market is still bearish.

If they have a higher target price for example 100k then have to be prepared to wait longer because we don't know how many years it will reach 100k so if you have high dreams with bitcoin in the future then we are now more focused on holding bitcoin.

Long term investment will always be better than short term even if you go for established altcoins in the market. That way, you won’t be affected with price fluctuations because you have set your long term goal, and you only have to sell not in the start, not at the middle, but definitely when your investment is at its highest peak. And the best way to achieve it is through with bitcoin.

I supposed you never know well about bitcoin because you are not sure yet as it is for long term or short term investment. You can always accumulate more knowledge first and always DYOR so you will always be guided. However, for me it’s best to invest bitcoin for long term because history proves it, and because it’s value will keep on growing every year that comes.

We aren't your financial advisor at all, so we may just express your opinion. We can't advise you what should you do at all. Pro traders don't just hold, they take advantage of the volatile. It's called middle time hold actually between short terms and long time hold. Short time means just getting out when you have some profits. Midterms mean you have a good profit and you want to take advantage of the volatility and buyback again. Long terms mean just leave it till a notable amount of profits. Since you are a newbie, then better hold for the long term and learn more about it. So you might take some advantage later on.

Stick on what you do prefer and dont tend to listen out other peoples perspective since we do have our own different liking and interest on dealing with Bitcoin price. If you do go for long term then go ahead but cant just deny that there are people who do deal up with short term duration which does simply means that it would be ending up on preference.
Not all people would really be that good when it comes on playing towards Bitcoins price volatility. So if you do see that it would be good for long term then go ahead,
but if you do find out that its a bit boring then its not bad to make up some changes.

Yes, I think I'm still a beginner in bitcoin, especially in science, because lately I've been trading bitcoin for the short term, but always losing, so finally I decided to invest in bitcoin for the long term.
There is a reason why the term HODL is one of the most popular in cryptocurrency. Its one way with minimal risk to make the most returns on your cryptocurrency. It's become traditional  and all you've got to do is have the funds for a start up and have some patience. Patience is what makes most users fail in cryptocurrency as, they don't have what it takes to go on a short term but still are too hasty to source for profit in short terms investment.
There is a risk in quick money and even worst still when you swim alongside professionals with many years of experience. Go long.

Many newbie investors F* up last year but I've seen that the majority of them didn't say that they were going out. But instead, they've learned and studied the history of its charts looking at how it looked like during the bear cycle and how it's looking back during the bull run and after its recovery.
The thought of being short term is what mostly newbies have and think that it's easy to get in and get out and just take away the cash, but that's all a lie and you'll enjoy more as you get hooked with investing into bitcoin.

Whatever happens, don't think about short-term investments. Anyway, the logic of the word investment, in my opinion, requires it to be for a long time. You should think this way not only for bitcoin, but also for other coins. In fact, not only for crypto coins, you should make all your other investments according to this logic. Take the amount you can out of sight from the money in your safe and completely forget about it after investing. You will have achieved good results in the future  ;)
Bitcoin is a good investment for long term and nothing else.

Bitcoin halving that has a four year cycle is the reason why Bitcoin has a bull run every four years and it's not just the hype that makes the market go on bull run but it has something to do with the supply of Bitcoin that's why it's a good investment for long term. Unlike any other altcoins most of them are following the trend of Bitcoin. If you do the short term investment make sure you know what you are doing because it's like trading but the profit is not that great.

It needs to be done on the market situation. If the market has made a transition from the bearish trend to bull market, then it is good to spend for short term profiting. If not the focus should be on long term holding.

At times we guess the market to make a big pump even after its high price for the time period. In such situation, we've missed the opportunity and the next choice is to hold long term. Here we don't know how long we need to hold.

Some used to get into trading to increase the portfolio holding, than just keeping the funds idle in a wallet. This way of investment is good, but it have got risk. Close observation over the market is a must in such investment.

For me yeah long term hodling is the most effective way when it comes to newbies though some pro's did it too but it is the matter of choice whether or not you do it short. If your investment in crypto is just your extra money then I highly recommend to forget it and leave it for years. A lot of people in the crytocurrency community had experienced this what we called "regret" when they have some good crypto before just like Bitcoin and spent it after a few days or months after they bought it or mined it.

Long term my answer.

The thing you need to ask is for what you choose Bitcoin as an investment. When your answer is final, then you must be ready to experience various misguided information out there that will make your faith shake.

To convince yourself in choosing long -term investment is to look at Bitcoin historical data.

(not financial advice)

I think everyone has their own needs but you must be able to manage your finances first before actually buying and investing in bitcoin for the long term. many people sell bitcoins that they buy before the price really goes up (profit) just because of an urgent need.

group your income and also your investments well, Bitcoin is highly recommended for long-term investments, so don't mess it up.

All kind of crypto currency investment should be long term, unless you are investing in some coins that are trending or is being hyped. If those are the coins, then invest, make profit and sell quickly before the hype ends or else you will make some huge losses. But if it is bitcoin, then invest, keep holding, when the price drops, invest more to hold long term, when the price reaches your profit goal, sell it and enjoy your profit. Look at the charts. The best approach is to engage Bitcoin in both long and short-term investments, this would help the investors to diversify their portfolios. Trading is very important to maximise the potential of Bitcoin earnings, so it is good to permanently hold half of the investments and always switch sides (buy and sell) with the other half based on daily or weekly speculations.

This plan is important because I don't believe in tieing my assets down for long while I could use them to make more money by buying and selling them at different market conditions.

This can also be assessed from the point of view that if you buy bitcoin at a lower price, then the goal of x2, doubling the invested funds, will be achieved faster. Although this is a dubious strategy, because with this point of view, you can constantly wait for the best time to buy.

If we take a period of 3-5 years to invest in bitcoin, then I think that this is a more reliable investment that will bring good profits. I invest in bitcoin and maybe even for a longer period and I hope that my investments will be profitable. And I am not ready to lose the money that I invest in long-term investments, this is an investment from which I expect big returns in the future.

What I meant to say is that for long term like if there's a bull run but you were right it depends since I don't know what time or year and what is the condition of the market during that time when they bought bitcoin. But I'm sure every bull run the price will pump and that's the only time they can make profit then buying back again when the bear market come.

Someone should have a definitive plan after investing like what they're going to do or when should they sell to take profit but this will not come to them freely. Someone should know what they were doing with their investment and what are the pros and cons. It takes some knowledge to be able to survive in this kind of market.

It is good to have Bitcoin as a long term investment in its early years.  But now I think investors should be adaptive and base their decision on whether to make Bitcoin a short-term investment or a long-term investment on the market movement.  So I think the selling price would be the indicative factor of whether you will have your Bitcoin investment for the long term.  For example, if your goal Bitcoin price is around $100k and 3 months after Bitcoin hit the target price, for sure even if you intend for a long-term investment, you will sell your holding since it already hit your target price.  So I guess forget about short-term and long-term kind of investments and make it more proactive by setting a target price instead.

^Definitely right, only BTC can be trusted in a long-term investment, not on altcoin.
Altcoins are pure hype, especially for those who are new to this business, it is very risky to invest because we did not know what will happen in the future. We have read different altcoins that becomes dead after listing on exchange and some of them are exit scam and that is the reason we cannot randomly select new project. However, on the other hand, BTC was already proven and tested for how many years and when the new ATH will come everyone is very happy.

Wouldn't Bitcoin be more valuable and profitable if used for the long term? We understand very well that there is a bearish period and there will be a bullish period. And in the bearish era is the time to buy Bitcoin, while in the bullish era, we can get high profits. This is at least for the long term investment if we want to get high profits from the investment itself. However, this doesn't mean that Bitcoin is not worthy for the short term. In fact, investing in Bitcoin is always worthy for both short term adn long term, but longer time will probably ris eup more profits.

Agreed, and better choice is to move with the market. If the market is bearish, good to invest and hold for the long term. When the market is bullish it is time to hold and book the profit at the right time. Short term profiting could be out of the fluctuation and sideways movement of the market. Think of the users who invested a week ago has now booked their profit. As stated, in short the profits were minimal compared to the long term profiting.

Whether investment in Bitcoin is long term or short term should depend on the goal the individual or investor has. Personally, I would advice that investment in Bitcoin should be long term for serval reasons but the one that stands out the most is that a long term investment in bitcoin will lead to massive ROI. At least that is the way I see it especially when in a bear market.

It depends on your target to take profits.
If you want to get a fast profit, choose a short-term. However, it seems more suitable for trading if you want fast profits. Daily or weekly trade will be the right option for fast profits. But the profits should be not as big as a long-term investment, depending on your capital as well. On the other hand, the long-term investment requires some years to take profits but you will have the chance to gain big profits. There are many members who already explained it previously, and you should understand how the potential to gain profits from long-term investment now. At the end of the day, what is your priority: fast profits or bigger profits?  :-\

I agree with your opinion, indeed short-term investment is also good, and will definitely be profitable as long as we can buy at the right time. and of course the most appropriate is to invest in two paths, namely long-term and short-term investments. sometimes I also always short-term investment when there is a good moment. but mostly I invest for the long term.
That is technically trading not investing.
In other words if you are analyzing the market and choosing a good entry and then an exit price that are very close to each other and you repeat that in small time frames then you are trading bitcoin not investing in bitcoin. That is also profitable but a lot harder and with more risks compared to an actual long term investment.

For me personally, I still feel like a beginner, because in terms of my ability I am not yet reliable, even though I often buy bitcoins as you mean, and with the aim of posting that because I have new capital to invest in bitcoin. so it doesn't mean i never buy bitcoin. but just asking everyone, about short term and long term investment.

For bitcoin, short-term or long-term investment will be profitable, whichever method you choose is up to you, but we can't decide for you. If you have knowledge of trading then you can make short term investment with bitcoin to make profit but if you don't know about trading then holding is the right choice for you.

Since I am not good at trading I will choose to hold long term and in my opinion this is a good time to accumulate bitcoin and as you said you have money in hand, you should consider buying at this price to hold.

Personally, I would advice that investment in Bitcoin should be long term for serval reasons but the one that stands out the most is that a long term investment in bitcoin will lead to massive ROI.
Another important factor to consider is taxing. Depending on the country you live in, taxes can be higher if your are cashing out a short-term investment than if you do it on a long-term investment. If you intend to pay your taxes and not break any laws, of course.

In Germany, for example, there is income tax that you are required to pay if you exchange/sell your coins for fiat after you have been holding less than a year. But if your investment is longer than one year, you pay no taxes after converting to fiat. In Croatia, that same time period is 2 years unless I am mistaken.

If you can buy Bitcoin in current state then I would say it must be a long term investment. Bitcoin's next halving will be in 2024, and Bitcoin is expected to reach between $100k and $200k there. However, we have seen the highest limit for Bitcoin at $69k Considering this aspect, you must make long-term investment. So those willing to invest in Bitcoin right now should buy Bitcoin and hold it for the long term.

Well, I don't thin so as nobody forced us to hold long-term or short-term for it will depend on us as an investor, might not know that next year they will sell their Bitcoin for some reason. And this is because not all investors can afford to do it as they are preferred short-term deals. But for me, I hold depending on the market situation as my basis until when I have to hold. Just think that if next year the bull season comes, people will certainly be selling their Bitcoin.

Long term hold guarantees that it is not going to be that much of a trouble with volatility neither. It could go down and up constantly, but since you are going to hold it for a long time, you do not have to care about it. Personally, I try to avoid this as much as possible and that does benefit me a lot. It gives me the chance to actually make a big change and allow me to ignore all these ups and downs.

I can definitely try my best on the current situation even though the price has been stable for a long time, but when it goes up, people will be going crazy and hyping it up, whereas I would be holding like nothing changed because I got it when they were afraid to get it.

on this matter of making long-term investment, the person needs to choose well for how many years they will be willing to hold or at what average price the person will sell, for example until a few years ago the price was 20,000$ and there were many people who bought it at this price of 20,000$ and that when the price reached 64,000$ they did not sell, thinking that the price would continue to rise a lot in the coming years, now see that the price is back to 20,000$, that means that if the person bought at 20,000$ 2 years ago and after 2 years the price reached 60,000$ and then dropped to 20,000$ while the person did not sell, so the person stayed for 2 years doing hold without making a profit, sometimes the person can even spend many years doing hodl and not have much profit

Every country is different, and regardless of the time period the government has benefited greatly from crypto taxes. The time period may provide a good choice for investors not to have to pay income tax, especially if these investors are long-term holders.

Regarding the OP's question, I'm starting to tend to think that long term investments are more profitable than short term investments. I mean, this investment would be great for multi years instead of just few months with less than 30% increments. Bitcoin is the one that interests me the most although diversification can also be considered for me.

Long term my answer.

The thing you need to ask is for what you choose Bitcoin as an investment. When your answer is final, then you must be ready to experience various misguided information out there that will make your faith shake.

To convince yourself in choosing long -term investment is to look at Bitcoin historical data.
Definitely, if you invest for a volatile investment, then always choose for long term. Aside from you can maximize your expected profits, you can also avoid panic selling once the value crash because you know your target is long term hodling. You will only get to sell when there is huge profits waiting for you, and not for short term that only give rare chances to become profitable.

The only option is to invest in bitcoin thinking on long term. As predefined goal, short term investment on crypto doesn't exist, because you can be unlucky enough to buy on the wrong time, so right after you bought your coins, bitcoin's price may crash and remain below the price range you have bought for years.

This is an extreme scenario, but it does happens, so every investors must have that in mind before making their decision. After all, their decision can impact their lives for years, so it must be taken in consideration if the investor will need that money meanwhile for emergencies or daily expenses. If so, that money shouldn't be used for btc investment.

What about trading? I think it should also be called a short term investment and many people are trading day to day and making a profit.

Right! Whether it is a short or long term investment, investing in bitcoin is very risky because of its volatility, so it is advisable to invest only with idle money or money that you can lose. Bitcoin investment is not always profitable and remember it is not a get rich quick way.

Investing in bitcoin should be long term. Sort-mid term investment also possible but from my opinion BTC is suitable for long term.

BTC works like a rocket if there is any hype. We saw this 2-3 years ago. So, we should invest long term to catch it up.

Bitcoin is a good investment for long term. If you track the price history you'll understand why. But it doesn't mean you have to hold forever, just set your target price to sell and for how long you're willing to wait.

However, this still depends on your strategy, you are free to do what you think is best for yourself. Either short or long term, what matter is you'll benefit from the decision you made. Much better to have plan so you can timing the market on when you will engage yourself. It takes guts hence be prepared whatever the result is.

I think long term. Investing now in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency can be a life changing decision because of the underlying blockchain technology that makes this possible which can help you make money online even if you don't have any technical skills.

Everybody can make money online, with or without bitcoin, it's that crypto or at least bitcoin can give someone a huge profit, but you have to accumulate and hold long term and that's what makes it more difficult here. It's because of the mental aspect. In also involved that you have the psychological ability not to sell too early or to late in order to maximize your profits here.

The cryptocurrency market has experienced a lot of fluctuation over the past year or so. If you are looking for profit, this is undoubtedly the right time to start your investment in Bitcoin and others.

Yes and that's what separate crypto to the rest of financial markets. It's so volatile, but you can take advantage of it as what daily traders is doing. But for the majority, just a simple strategy of buying cheap bitcoin and accumulate over the years.

Trading on short term with bitcoin is like gambling. If you want to risk losing money that is fine, but if you aim safe investment for future gains it's not advised. Crypto is too unstable in short time frames. I consider it safe only if we are talking about 3-4 years investment, because that is enough time to transit from a bull to bear season, or vice-versa.

I agree with you that long term bitcoin investment is much safer and more profitable than short term investment but if you say trading is gambling then I definitely disagree with your thinking. If you trade without any knowledge then I agree you are gambling but if you have knowledge and skill, it's not gambling. Trading can actually be profitable for you and it is based on your ability not luck so it cannot be considered gambling.

However, we have seen the highest limit for Bitcoin at $69k Considering this aspect, you must make long-term investment. I would not bet on this since the price of bitcoin is still very much influenced by many factors, and no one knows precisely what it will be in 2024, especially newbies, which is the author of the thread. This may turn off many. I would not consider bitcoin - as a long-term investment for beginners.

I'll recommend long-term investment especially for those who wish to contribute to the Bitcoin Project and possibly benefit from its price increase. So investing longterm is better, but you free to sell part of your investment whenever you need money to solve other important issues in your life. You can always contribute ideas/efforts for the development Bitcoin which can also qualify as investment.

Since you are a newbie then it is a better idea to take your time and become a long term investor, becoming a short term investor or more accurately a trader is too time consuming and difficult for most newbies to pull off, now there are a few newbies out there with amazing skills which can do something like this and become traders from day one, but if you are not one of them then save yourself the trouble and the headache and become an investor instead.

If you have long term profit goals, then always go for long term investments. Most particularly with bitcoin because it will only give us good and profitable amount once we start hodling it for long term. Although short term may also be profitable sometimes especially if you bought bitcoin at its cheapest price, but for best outcome, invest bitcoin for long term.

Well, bitcoin is still in a low price right now so definitely a good time to buy. And the fact that bitcoin is prone to price volatility, then set your bitcoin investment for long term. And if we can hold it for a year or two, much better since bitcoin halving is fast approaching. And when that happens, we will gain huge ROI especially if we start buying bitcoin at its bottom price.

Well we will all agree that Bitcoin should be a long term investment. It may feel like BTC is going to hell but in my opinion it is definitely not. It’s always hard to tell when the rebound will happen but historically bitcoin's price has responded extremely positively after every correction.
It’s hard not to let your emotions get wrapped up in it when you’ve invested into the technology. But it’s important to remain detached and objective.
The reality is after nearly every correction in the past bitcoin has reached new highs so see this is an opportunity to get in cheap. Personally, I'm not buying right now but rest assured if bitcoin drops below 15K I will consider adding more to my portfolio.

Long-term investing is a better option for Bitcoin investing. In the long run, you will find that the price of bitcoin will generally rise, and the longer you hold bitcoin, the greater the chance of making a profit.

I think so too, because long-term investments will certainly produce big profits as long as we are strong enough to hold on to it, and don't panic if there is a price drop. because if we have excessive panic nature of course we will fail to make a profit.

Most people will choose long-term because long-term holding is simpler, doesn't take as much effort, and doesn't require as much market knowledge as short-term investing. Short-term investment is trading, to make a profit in trading, you have to invest a lot of time to gain knowledge, and experience and even lose money to get practical lessons. Trading is not for the masses.

Long term or short term investment is up to you, bitcoin is just a tool to help us make profit and how to use it to generate profit is up to us, not bitcoin.

What I'm trying to say in this aspect is that holding a bitcoin for long-term investment is very good but you have to understand that I was unable to call and then have to buy it when the price is low so that you say when the price come up to the bullish market so in that aspect what you are saying is right right but I would agree to an extent that a bitcoin have no time but you can purchase or invest on it

But when is the right time to buy? When it's on ATH? Before you buy, try to study the fundamentals and technical analysis first. Many newcomers say they will buy low, but when? Because they didn't know much about it, they bought it at a high price, and when the price of bitcoin dropped, they had to sell it at a low price. You need to learn it first to avoid losses. So try to read and watch videos about bitcoin.

If you believe that btc will hit a very high price and you have lots of patience then you will go for long term but if you are the opposite of that then short term will be the way to go. How can you say that btc is going to hell? Because, you are seeing reds or its value is dumping a lot? Hell is not in the vocabulary of btc.

It was only the news who influenced the price of btc to drop more evenly but there will always be a force that prevents btc from falling in a very low level in case more negative news pops out. Those who have less knowledge in btc shouldn't be afraid of it but they should use this fall in price as their advantage to stack/stock up more coins.

As the price continues to drop, there will be a lot of emotions being played by the market itself and that's going to make everybody worry from their own decisions being done. But as you can see, if many have bought during the $15k a while ago, they're already in profit because the price of bitcoin flashes back quickly to $17k and about to enter again $18k.

I have 2 plans in trading and investing. i.e. Day trading (my job every day) and long term trading or investing (money that I always set aside from my daily trading profit).

to be honest if my circumstances can afford then I will answer that long-term investment is the best. but my economic circumstances forced me to have to continue to trade daily. because I have a family to support.
for some people, day trading may be used as a main job looks difficult to accept and high risk. and I thought so at first. but after I went through several years with ups and downs between loss and gain. now the experience has become a valuable lesson. and now I rarely lose in day trading. because I have implemented risk management, financial management, profit and loss management in trading and combined with technical and fundamental analysis which must be prioritized. so trading is not speculative.
but of course I wouldn't recommend day trading to anyone. because the risk is high and if we are not good at controlling emotions (emotional management) then it is not surprising that more people lose money from day trading. I was forced to do it out of necessity.

and I even do day trading is to be able to support my family and save some of the profits to invest in Bitcoin for the long term. and fortunately I know this forum so that it helps me a little to support my family from signature payments ($40/week).

so the answer to this question is if you are a financially capable person, or you are working, and you have extra money to save then long term investment in bitcoin is the best.

even if the price of bitcoin is now down. but if you regularly look for information related to bitcoin then you will be surprised because now the wallet that holds at least 1 bitcoin has exceeded the new ATH. meaning that every day bitcoin holders continue to grow. meaning that people are competing to buy bitcoins from the current low prices.

Indeed, day trading can also bring good profit and can also be considered as our main source of income but not everyone can do it and it takes a lot of time and effort even going through a lot of previous losses to make money in trading. Trading is not a job for the masses and not many people can do it.

I agree with you, long term investment is still an optimal and safer option, especially for a newbie like OP. I still prefer to have a stable job outside and combine with long-term investment because long-term investment also does not take up too much of my time.
And having 2 or 3 sources of income is what I think is necessary, we should not depend on just one source because if the job goes wrong, we will be in trouble.

I think it is best for beginners to hold for a long time. It is not suitable for Bitcoin in the short term. The fluctuation is not very obvious, but holding Bitcoin for a long time will bring huge profits. Is now a good time to enter?

When you first entered the market, you may think that it is a low and buy, but you find that there is a lower point when you enter the market, but don't panic, because the price of bitcoin will recover quickly, you must be patient and good mentality.

Eitherways would be profitable. But if you have not that much of a capital, go for short term 'coz long term investment with Bitcoin would require you huge amount of patience given that the market value is volatile, it won't always be uptimes. But also, short term investment required a more precise technical analysis because the market price behavior is changing almost time to time. You need to be cautious of when should you sell and buy to generate profit.

Easiest way is to engage with long term investment because it would require you less time of engagement. The only downside is that the market price of bitcoin will not continuously increase in a rapid rate, therefore profit won't be constant.

Short term as well as long term investment on bitcoin is profiting. Everything gets connected to the market situation. For now the market is at its bottom and to profit out of the situation is short term investing. Quite often some news is getting around and making variation in the price. It is risky, but for users who keep themselves much engaged into the market it is possible to book profit.

Long term investment preference is for users who have a good sum of money left after fulfilling all their needs. Investing those left amount into bitcoin will not hurt them at any cost, even if the market turns downwards. Here patience pays them back with good profit in the long term.

I'm curious, what do you mean by short term investment, is it day trading or something like that?
What I understand is, trading and investing are both profitable, it is something very simple.

For me, bitcoin investment will tend to be more profitable in the long run instead of trading it with various strategies. I don't like day trading even if a lot of people take advantage of its price volatility, especially on bitcoin. Bitcoin would very well be the best choice asset for long term investments like 5 to 10 years. But of course we have to be quite concerned with its development and also how to secure it in the wallet.

If you can buy and invest in Bitcoin at this time, I would definitely suggest you to hold it for the long term. Because at one time we saw the highest position of Bitcoin at 69k dollars. Bitcoin will definitely stay within one hundred thousand dollars any day. This is said not by me but by various experts. So even if you are a newbie, buy bitcoins in this market and hold for long term if you can afford it. It will get better soon.

Research and analysis of the trend of Bitcoin in the market will find that long-term investment will be better than short-term and will keep rising for a long time.
Investing in Bitcoin for the long term is best, and many long-term holders of Bitcoin have already made profits. Start accumulating in a bear market and hold on to it for the long haul to reap huge benefits.

There is no guarantee that after 4 years bitcoin will definitely rise again but history happened, in the past 3 halvings bitcoin always bounced back, always hit new ATHs and now we are expecting history to repeat itself. But with the current development and widespread acceptance, it is certain that bitcoin will increase in price in the near future, supply is limited and once demand exceeds supply, price increases are inevitable.

In my experience, in this situation it is too difficult to decide to invest in short term or long term. Now the price of bitcoin also too dump I think it is a good opportunity for investors to invest in Bitcoin for a long term not for a short because it's price will be up and down. So it is difficult to get profit from bearish market.

There are too many expectations after halving. People are expecting another ATH for Bitcoin, people are expecting huge profits as well which makes them courageous to buy/invest in Bitcoin during the price deduction.

I actually don't believe in history repeating itself but it was once proven to come and I am also witnessing such an event. This makes me change my view of the market and help enlighten me that Bitcoin is really a good investment whether it was long-term or short-term.

History repeats itself can happen but not the whole of history is almost the same. There will be some differences depending on how the market is and some other factors. Bitcoin is indeed a digital asset for a good investment for now, but it is also necessary to know that investing in bitcoin or crypto has a fairly high risk. Every investment must be aware of these risks, such as the volatility that is expected with rapid price fluctuations. This will provide returns quickly and also provide losses quickly, depending on how to make good use of fluctuations.

Bitcoin is currently more suitable for long-term investment, especially when the price is crashing and the price is below. buy and hold for the next few years I think it will be better and can provide benefits. We just have to wait for the new ATH to be reached.

Why because if you can hodl, it will much better especially when the investment is done on a bear market like this, some just can't handle the pressure of seeing their investments go down when the market is bad.

But if you understand the bitcoin ecosystem it will be much profitable you  hodl and go for a long term investment

I still believe in history repeating itself until there is new history. As we also know that we do not have a crystal ball to predict the future, so the only way is to look at history to predict it and hope that it will repeat. And when we look to the long term, looking to the future, if history doesn't repeat itself it's not a big deal because just look at what bitcoin has been and is creating. We can see a marked change from 2021 to the present, bitcoin is more known, bitcoin is mass-adopted at the corporate, corporate, even national level. And they are increasing day by day, so bitcoin is always a good investment in the long term.

sometimes things like that happen. I also have a little experience about a friend and he is a newcomer who is interested in investing in bitcoin. And he did various research before starting the investment. he even considers whether he will choose to invest in the long term or short term. in the end he chose long-term investments. But maybe because he is mentally unprepared and not yet honed and it can be said that he is not ready for price fluctuations in crypto. so after he saw the price drop, he canceled his investment. and sell it at a loss. so the lesson that can be taken is that we must also recognize ourselves personally, especially our personal mental and financial conditions. whether we are mentally ready for the long term or only ready for the short term. so choosing between long term and short term investment is actually not as easy as it sounds.

Benefits of short term investment in bitcoin:

1) This approach is more suited by people who can track the market 24*7. Whenever, there is good news related to BTC or other coin, they can make a short term investment based on that and earn decent profits.

2) One can generate profit in short term with this type of investment if he is able to time the market well. The profit earned can further be invested in other forms of investment for more profit.

Benefits of long term investment in bitcoin:

1) There is higher chance of profit with this type of investment. If you see past trends, anyone who has held bitcoin for more than 4 years had always been in good profit. Short term traders on other hand will make lot of frequent trades and do overall loss.

2) People who are busy with jobs or business do not even have the time to follow the market news for making short term investment. For them long term holding of bitcoin is more practical.

Short-term investment not only requires a lot of knowledge and skills, but you need to accept the pressure and risks that it brings because trading is not always as profitable as holding. Whether short-term or long-term, you should only invest with money that can lose and should not borrow to invest in bitcoin.

Exactly whether short-term or long-term investment depends on the choice and ability of each person. You can also invest in short term if you are confident in your knowledge and analytical skills, many people choose long term because they are not confident and do not want to risk trading.
I used to want to be a day trader because I love making money every day, but it was really too much pressure for me so i couldn't pursue it and i chose to be the holder.

All other investments, especially Bitcoin, should be considered long-term. Your psychology will also be safe.

Most investors prefer this kind of method because they don't want to check the crypto market every hour. Rather they just keep buying when the bitcoins price is low and keep holding it until it reaches the amount of price they want to sell their bitcoins. this works for others but it depends on their situations as well because some investors don't have enough patience for long especially when they see the price rising a little bit, most of them prefer to sell their bitcoins once they see a small profit can be earned.

Be wary that investing into cryptocurrencies are risks that must be controlled and taken advantage off. Given that they are volatile in nature, you can either accumulate tons of profit short/long-term depending on the market price. But if there is one thing that must be taken into consideration, you should definitely consider short-term investment or as soon as you see your initial investment profit. Risk is the most important thing to pay attention to. short-term or long term depending on how you can take advantage of every opportunity properly. Crypto has high volatility and this is its main risk, fast price fluctuations can be used for short-term trading and for the long term it may be possible to target a predetermined price. Greed is a trait that will be detrimental to any investment, as long as greed cannot be controlled, there will be no profit to be had.

The problem when holding is how well we are mentally prepared. One of the enemies of this is that we will panic sell when the price is low. I experienced this before, but later on, I overcame it. Let's practice being mentally prepared so we will not sell it at a low price, but this can be learned when you experience it. To be certain, hold and forget your bitcoin for a few years.

actually both are equally good for bitcoin, want short term or long term. but indeed those who don't want to speculate will of course choose the long term because indeed bitcoin will continue to repeat itself to increase. but if you want to speculate carefully, of course the short term is just as profitable, even though you have to do it with proper analysis and full patience in making the final execution.
patience to execute is needed if you really want to continue to make short-term investments, because bitcoin will always remain profitable if done properly and correctly.

I tend to prefer long term investing in any investment assets over short term investments. Before I knew bitcoin, gold was one of the assets that attracted me to place a few thousand dollars as an investment. I also invest in gold for the long term, even though until now it is still in the form of jewelry, but because I bought it when the price of gold was very low, so for now I really produce something commensurate with the results of my investment.

I think bitcoin is the most potential investment asset in the long term but maybe I should take advantage of market conditions especially during ATH cycles to convert it to fiat. 4-5 years is the most profitable time between the two cycles, so of course I still need to sell it as long as it is profitable and come back to plan the next investment when the price has dropped lower again.

My strategy is to hold it long-term. In my early days of Bitcoin, I would use it as currency, but even though I was trying to help the system and help it be used as a currency, that was my worst mistake. Due to that, I ended up spending my Bitcoins indiscriminately and today, I'm short on Bitcoin.  Now, my mission is to hoard bitcoin and store it to hold on to for dear life.

Both terms of investment are quite significant but it depends on the time ‍and situation especially about the current situation, what is going to happen in the coming days etc. Market experts advise doing proper research before investing in any assets. It is important that investors are willing to accept the risks along with the overall financial goals first. Which form should invest that is largely depends on the financial status of an ordinary investor.

Long-term investment is worthy for investors who want to grow their portfolio. On the other hand, short-term returns must also be considered by an investor in his coin selection and their things as well. Short-term investments are often risky if not properly analyzed. Bitcoin and Ethereum can be invested in both long-term and short-term forms as they are the two market leaders. Investors should experiment otherwise the entire capital may be wiped out in a short of time.

No one can tell you for sure due to the risks involved op. If you are willing to take the risks and if you are ready to invest what you're willing to lose, I suggest investing for the long-term due to higher profit margins.

You could earn well in the short-term too, but the profit margin would most likely be lower in comparison. Do your research thoroughly!

Long term or short term doesn't really matter when it comes to Bitcoin from my perspective, but rather to stay profitable and that is one thing I've always advised people to do which is always stay profitable no matter what area you're facing in Bitcoin.
We've seen and heard of people who are doing extremely very well in investing long term and others in short term and even others in trading and so many other areas of wealth creation Bitcoin touches.
In conclusion, whatever you choose to do in Bitcoin, always try your best to stay profitable.

To stay profitable, you need to determine which strategy is right for you, long term or short term. If you don't have a lot of time and don't have too much knowledge about trading, but you want to make quick money in a short time and you choose to trade, then you will not be able to make a profit let alone maintain it. But on the contrary, if you choose long-term, I believe the profit of long-term holding is not inferior to when you trade, sometimes even greater because trading is not always profitable, and holding is much simpler. Long term or short term can generate profits, it is important that you choose which one is right for you.

Actually investors have no choice. They have to wait the market behave positively, so they can finally claim their profit. If an investor is constantly checking prices, really impatient to sell, he is probably going to get rid of his coins before the right time. That is what happens quite often with the called weak hands, who are so desperate for fast profits, that they end losing confidence in the market for any reasons and selling their holdings for a much inferior price than they should. Then, when they want to start a new bitcoin investment, they can't, because prices are already too high and a new bull run has already started...

No one can tell you for sure due to the risks involved op. If you are willing to take the risks and if you are ready to invest what you're willing to lose, I suggest investing for the long-term due to higher profit margins.
Basically, almost any investment or business is inseparable from risk, because it is involved in trading that involves money, then that's where the risk will arise. However, if the OP wants to minimize investment risk, long term HOLDing in bitcoin is the right pattern. Every long-term HOLDING will definitely get a large return, for example, setting the current year for investment in accordance with the current four-year cycle.

Just waiting for ATH before releasing bitcoin on a long-term investment, the most important thing is don't panic and stay calm when market conditions experience a severe correction, because if the cycle is close to a halving, then the return we get will be far more optimal.

Quote
You could earn well in the short-term too, but the profit margin would most likely be lower in comparison. Do your research thoroughly!
If using short-term patterns, bitcoin volatility is usually much more pronounced, to get a small income, short-term patterns are usually more successful, but they are also inseparable from market conditions when we enter and buy bitcoins. The best way to avoid risk is to use a long term investment pattern in bitcoin.

Because we can set the selling price from the previous purchase price, moreover the four year cycle relationship can take our investment to the next stage to reach ATH and that is why many people prefer long term investment in bitcoin.

Everyone has Thier own taught on Bitcoin investment, but personally I taught that Bitcoin is long term player all those investor will be succeed who plan to hold Bitcoin for long-term, because with time to time after dip bitcoin rise again and make new ATH while this procedure take time , so that the reason I prefer to invest longterm. Same like when you bought it at dip around 17k and then hold it for 2 or more year till bitcoin make new ATH make you more profitable as compared to if you bought it for short term.

Bitcoin is a potential investment so you must invest in bitcoin for long term. and you must keep your eyes On daily price fluctuations and if you feel by your own Analysis that bitcoin price can crash any time then that time you can sell your bitcoin and wait for dip. but if you think you will get a huge profit from bitcoin in short time if you invest in bitcoin then that would be your stupidity. You have to buy and sell bitcoins as per your need so long time you have to invest on bitcoins only then you will be able to get a big amount of profit from here.

Investment in bitcoin is not a bad thing but you should know that bitcoin is volatile and therefore you would need to know the market trend very well before going into it. As a bitcoin holder, holding for a short time requires you to trade constantly so as to making profit which means you buy at the particular price love at time interval and sell it when the price goes high. If investing for a long time, then you would have to buy at a particular time when the price is low or at your wish and holding for a long time which is encouraging so as not to be at loss. As long term investor, you would need some patience while holding because the market sometimes is very much  mind shaking and of you do not have a strong self control, you might likely sell so as to not to be on the loosing end. This is what it means holding for a long time.

not all Bitcoin investments made will generate profits. some people must feel the loss caused by several factors.
Bitcoin for long term or short term, I guess it's the same. can be beneficial and can also detrimental. all depends on our ability to make a better investment plan.
if you can make good use of the moment of the pump and dump. Profiting from Bitcoin can also be done in the short term. and conversely, those who invest in Bitcoin for the long term (which is widely recommended) can also be a loss when we don't get a better moment in the planning we make. or we are not consistent with our investment plans.

Have to keep an eye on daily fluctuations? Meanwhile, you suggest long-term investment?
If investing long term why do you have to watch prices every day isn't it long term just enough to HOLD so you don't need to check the market all the time except daily trading, profit in bitcoin is not quite easy even though it's a shadow just want to get big it still takes a long time for the price increase process then I'm sure from what has been held so far with a 5-10 year term, we can feel it, but if you look at it in terms of a decline every time, for me it's not a long-term investment.
Long term no analysis needed, just buy and hold, those are the simple words.

It is not possible to invest like this, if you invest in this way you will most likely be losing money because of changes in price; you cannot have crystal balls to know by your analysis that BTC price is going to crash, and if you try speculating this way, you would probably sell your BTC at a loss most of the time, making you repeatedly lose money.

If you want to invest in BTC, you have to decide if you are for long term or a daily trader, once you have decided you can now learn how to invest based on your decision.

Long term and short term have their respective risks and certainly have their own potential benefits.
If it's long term you might need to target how long your money is invested which is definitely maybe more than 6 months or even more than one year this target also needs to be made like 4 or 10 years ahead to get a profit, and there are also appropriate adjustment settings when you start in which phase in the market.
Likewise in the short term, you have to be very good at looking for market position opportunities with fluctuations and maybe losses also have the potential to be large.
This all depends on their respective decisions in investing in bitcoin, when your intention is to maximize your income, yes, you definitely choose the short term, but if you invest for old age savings, you have to choose the long term.
I understand that everyone has their own understanding of the long term and short term, therefore it is important to adapt it to the circumstances and conditions of each individual's needs.

The definition of investment in general is to seek profit, Bitcoin does not guarantee a profit in the short or long term. Before you enter, you need to see the chart as an initial reference to determine the duration of the investment you will make. The profit target needs to be considered, you can change your plan at any time depending on the position of the movement that occurs in the market.

Note the image is the Bitcoin price chart of the last 10 years.  Here in 10 years the price of Bitcoin has fluctuated from only $65 to $68.7k  And the current price is above $20k.  In 2017, 1 Bitcoin crossed the $20k mark for the first time before falling back down to $3.5k But Bitcoin didn't stay there, then in 2021 it rose in price to $68.7k. So think for yourself that if Bitcoin can go from $65 to $68.7k in 10 years, how much can it go from $20k in the next 10 years? So definitely Bitcoin is best investment for long term.
Think- if you keep your $20k in a bank by FD then bank will give you maximum of 7% APR and if you keep it 10 years then you will get 70% return it will total of $34k amf from here income tax will be cut 10-15% you will get maximum of $32k after government vat. but if you investment $20k in bitcoin then from here you will get million of $ after 10 years If the price of Bitcoin continues to rise naturally as it has seen over the last 10 years.
Don't rush to invest after seeing my post mate. It's just a calculation looking at the charts of the past 10 years.  It is possible that in the next 10 years the price of Bitcoin may fall to $100.  Nothing is impossible in cryptocurrency.  So before investing  think about the risk first and keep it in mind

I think if you invest for short-term needs it might be recommended for the short term, but if you make bitcoin an alternative investment choice besides gold, I think you need to take the long term, because the long term is very promising, especially in a market like this, of course this is the right time for you to invest in bitcoin, and maybe you will get the best opportunity, in the near term you can get profit, as well as in the long term you will definitely get profit too.

I think it can do both together, because Bitcoin is a perfect coin for both long-term and short-term investments.
And by doing a good DCA planning divides the income into several parts and some funds can be spent on long term and some short term investments. I myself am doing both long term investment and short term investment. But I would say that if there is no such lazy fund then short term investment is better than long term investment.

While a lot of people would agree with you on the potentials of bitcoin, I wouldn’t exactly say it’s a must to invest in bitcoin and for the long term. Bitcoin may seem like a favorable investment to you, that doesn’t mean it is to the next person.
Besides, if you’re aiming on holding for the long run, why bother yourself keeping daily check on the fluctuation of its price. Long term holders do not bother their head and heart about the current market price.

OP, investments generally yield more profits, if any after the long run. So choose wisely.

Not all does have the patience on making yourself able to hold up for long term and literally speaking and comparing in between potential profits then the ones who do actively dealing with are the ones who have
the chance on earning more but of course you would really be needing to deal off something which would really be requiring that kind of risk taking which is something not all would really be willing in doing so.
Doesnt matter whether you do go for short term or long term when we do talk about bitcoin investment because it would really be your total choice on which one you would be sticking into.
It does vary and several factors would really be affecting such decision.

Short-term investment can be considered gambling or lottery. You can lose (most probably) or you can win (if you're lucky). If it's time-limited and you need to cash out at some certain time it's always a bad idea. There's a significant chance you'll have to liquidate at a loss.  ::)

Not really, there is an investment that is good for short-term, mid-term, and long-term.  So investing in a short-term investment does not mean the investor is gambling.  Short-term investment example is day trading or swing trading, another example is real estate flipping where one buys real estate with an intention of quickly selling it for a higher price after some improvement and renovation.

Bitcoin can either be invested in the short, mid, or long term but among this method of investment, long term with occasional selling to increase the Bitcoin holding is proven to be the best approach to take the most profit.

Investing in Bitcoin, or any other investment, should be based on an individual's personal financial situation, risk tolerance, and investment goals.

Bitcoin is a highly volatile asset and its price can fluctuate rapidly, therefore it may be considered as a high-risk investment. Some investors may prefer to invest in Bitcoin for the short-term and take advantage of the price fluctuations to make a profit. Others may believe in the long-term potential of Bitcoin as a store of value and a hedge against inflation, and may choose to hold it for the long-term.

It's important to research and evaluate all the possible risks and rewards before making any investment decision, and to consult with a financial advisor or professional.

Investment isn't a kind of gambling/lottery. But if you invest in shit coins or meme coins, I agree that it can be said to be gambling. So, gambling or not, it doesn't depend on how long you invest, it depends on what coins you invest in. People who invest in coins with good fundamentals must be based on deep research and analysis. They also use certain strategies to optimize profits. While gambling, mostly depends on luck. Research, analysis, or strategy may have no significant influence. So, basically, investment has a bit different approach.

I agree with you.  And you have described it very clearly. bitcoin investment must be long term to gain potential profit. it is not necessary to holding 10 years. bitcoin can do a big pump within 1-2 years. But we can't guarantee anything so if we set a time frame for 10 years then we hope to get profit.  But a big problem is that we can't be patient and panic and sell our coins when the market starts to dump a bit. So long term investment is not possible for those who lack patience

Based on my observation, if you invest after the bitcoin halving, then your investment in it should be short-term because the price starts rising soon and you should try to catch the highest price and sell your bitcoins to profit from the bull market, so the rise of price lasts for one year, then the market crashes and charts decline.
But when you invest after the crash of bull market and the start of bear market, then your investment should be long-term, I mean you should leave your coins untouchable for at least 4 years, till the next halving.

So, to sum up, the mixture of short and long-term investment looks more attractive for me.

The most important thing to understand that this will definitely work for Bitcoin, the disciplined and patient will always be rewarded. This should not be attempted with altcoins, as most of them will most likely bring losses, but for Bitcoin it will be a great strategy.

Bitcoin is the foundation of the entire crypto market, and if something happens to it, I doubt that any other coin will be able to survive in this case, but there will always be bitcoin, no matter what troubles happen in the crypto market. This is especially true now, when we see so many bankrutpcies, the risks of losing funds are high, so invest in bitcoin and store it in a cold wallet, this is a simple but effective formula. I suppose that in a year or two we will see a bull market, which will please us very much.

Wise investors will always take the best option if it is possible, whether it was a short-term or long-term investment but as long as they will gain profit, that is still okay. And base on your example, he can choose not to sell his/her Bitcoin after halving but to wait for the next cycle if his plan is long-term. But I think is not, he/she preferred to enter during halving because he wanted to sell them in a few days - meaning this person is literally a short-term holder, not because of the market situation.

Well it a very good question, I guess it very good one if you live it to take a long time this helps your investment to bring more profit then making it short.
Living it for a short or long term I guess it's on you because if you don't want to make use of the money quick, if you don't have any issue at hand you can let it stay. Because the longer it take the bigger profit it gives you.
It is never wrong if you make it short or long I guess all depends on you.

Of course, everyone has a different opinion about investing.
In my opinion, investing in bitcoin is better in the long run. because in the long run the benefits are greater. but if the short term profit is small, just look at the bitcoin chart from 2009 to 2021. and usually people who invest in the short term invest mostly in altcoins.

I don't know if the four-year bull/bear cycle is an accurate statement. If it is accurate, investing for four years will definitely make money.

This makes me change my view of the market and help enlighten me that Bitcoin is really a good investment whether it was long-term or short-term.

that's right, so the point is that short-term investments in bitcoin are also good as long as we can read charts and must be able to predict well. but if  a long-term investment, of course, our will not think too much about the graph and of course will sell after the bitcoin price rises and of course after there is a big profit.

Short-term investment not only requires a lot of knowledge and skills, but you need to accept the pressure and risks that it brings because trading is not always as profitable as holding. Whether short-term or long-term, you should only invest with money that can lose and should not borrow to invest in bitcoin.
As long as I have traded in short term I got very little profit. Short term investment has lot of risk and after investing with all these risks many times big loss. But I have got lot of profit from long term investment. So now I am no more.  I don't do short term trading as before. Now I like to invest for long term and can make a lot of profit.

I think if we can keep short term investment as well as long term investment then it will be better for us. I used to invest short term at first but after taking advice from my friend I now prefer to invest short term as well as long term. These two  After doing that I don't have much loss and most of the time I have a lot of profit. I always prefer to invest in Bitcoin.

Both short term and long term can be profitable, but I don't think the short term is better than the long term. Short term investment like trading is too risky, and there is no guarantee you will always be profitable, but if you hold for the long term, you will profit. Bitcoin is too volatile, and we can also see that every time bitcoin fluctuates, many long-short positions are liquidated in the market, so to say short-term is better is not true. Short-term or long-term investments should only use lazy funds, do not borrow to invest.

i am a newbie in bitcoin, and i plan to buy bitcoin,, and will invest in bitcoin, and i want to ask everyone? if investing in bitcoin is it better short term or long term??? but in my opinion, long-term investment is better, but what do you think?

I think bitcoin will be more suitable in the long term than in the short term because bitcoin's volatility is so great that short term investments are more likely to cause losses than long term. And long-term investment is easier than short-term investment, short-term needs a lot of knowledge and time to observe bitcoin to make a profit.

Short term or long term investment, of course, both have advantages and disadvantages.
I think it depends on the ability you have.
If you have the ability to invest with short term like trading that's great.
It will give you profits quickly.
But if you are a beginner and don't have good enough ability to implement a strategy for the short term, you shouldn't do it.

I think long term investing is better and makes more sense for beginners.
In addition, we also have time to better understand how to invest and manage our assets properly.

Of course investing in long term is profitable but you need to know when and how you need to buy for maximizing your profits for example at this hyped market i dont recommend anyone to buy for holding because it a full market cycle and before breaking 30k we need to see some lows as history tells us .
So dont buy in FOMO if you want to hold for some years we have full year for buying BTC So stay safe and keep patience .

In my opinion we should buy both long term and short time. For long term, I think this price is not bad to enter the market. As your statement, if Bitcoin cross 30k then it will be a wiser decision to take profit by investing right now. Then there will be another opportunity to buy more amount and thus we will be able to maximize our wealth.

As you've mentioned about the history, $23k which is the price now was once the ATH in 2020-2021 and then now, it's like one of the bottom price where people are doubting to buy.

If someone wants to buy for holding because we're about to have the halving next year, it's very recommended to buy it like if your targeting price increase is higher than of today.

I do agree that don't FOMO when you're buying but instead, DYOR and don't buy hype just because of the hype. But, this is bitcoin, no hype, normal unpredictable markets, no risk-no gain mentality is on it so you decide just like us who took risk.

Short-term investment can be considered gambling or lottery. You can lose (most probably) or you can win (if you're lucky). If it's time-limited and you need to cash out at some certain time it's always a bad idea. There's a significant chance you'll have to liquidate at a loss.  ::)

Of course it's not. I was just comparing it to gambling/lottery, because if you're setting a time limit/period for your investment, it means you'll be forced to sell the stocks, crypto etc you have invested in after some period of time. Let's say you bought BTC at $20k and you have set a time limit of 1 month. After that time you' ll have to sell to get your money back (or may be you borrowed this money) and BTC dumps to $16k after this month. That's what I meant by short term investment. Long term investment, on the other hand, is not so time limited and you have more chance to succeed. After 5 years, say, BTC can be $70k or $700k but you'll earn something either way.  8)

I haven't seen anyone investing in bitcoin or cryptocurrency with a time limit. I get your point that you aren't earning any profit in the short term, and if it has, then for sure you are lucky. As we can see from the bitcoin chart, it is always long-term; yes, you may profit in the short term over a few months, but it is only a small amount compared to over a few years. The reason for those who sold early is always that they can't control their emotions, which is why they sell even if they're losing as they are scared.

But in my personal opinion both of them are good but have different functions and depending on needs, so I think investing in bitcoin is a wise decision if accompanied by good money management, bitcoin can be categorized as a risky investment, because crypto prices fluctuate a lot. the most difficult key in investing is to be patient and manage your emotions, the key to investing is understanding what you are investing in and managing it yourself.

Whether you invest in bitcoin or potential coins would be called gambling if you have no knowledge of it. The only difference between investing and gambling is knowledge, knowledge is what will help you differentiate what you are doing with your money. Investing requires knowledge, but no matter how good your knowledge is, if you don't get lucky, you will always lose.

While I do agree that you do have to have some level of understanding on whatever investments you want to invest in, I think you mustn’t necessarily manage your investments yourself.
There are a whole lot of people out there with investments managers that help manage their investments on their behalf. These managers could act on behalf on their clients and are in most cases, a lot more knowledgeable on everything stocks and investments than the client. I do agree that patience is a key feature to have when going into investing.

You should buy Bitcoin and hold it for dear life as it is supposed to skyrocket sooner or later. Due to Bitcoin fundamentals, the option will always be to hodl. In case you want to speculate then yes, you should hold ot short term.

Both short term and long term can be profitable, but I don't think the short term is better than the long term. Short term investment like trading is too risky, and there is no guarantee you will always be profitable, but if you hold for the long term, you will profit.

Investing short term or long term can also be determined by the period you invested in the market. Users that come in during the bull market should consider investing for short term then take profits and wait for the bear market to return before reinvesting. If you invested at the peak and want the keep holding, you will get disappointed.
Usually the bear will take away all your profits and even your capital when you panic and sell. Bitcoin can be invested in at anytime but make sure you aren't investing at the peak of the bull market as that'll take you alot of years to recover just your capital.
For example, those that Invested in the peak of 2021 now have to wait until 2024 or beyond to get back their capitals or profits. Always considered the season of markets before taking decision on your investment timeframe.

Every investment is subject to risk ans bitcoin is no exception to it. In this regard studying the market is a must to take decision. Investment should be long term if the plan is to hold ans short term plans should be for the purpose of trading. No one have ended with loss out of the long term holding. Short term profiting have risk, but the profit will be high in very less time than any other form of investment.

Everybody have it on direction of investment except that it is a new person that does not to know when he or she will invest invest in Bitcoin so I believe that investment of long-term is purposely or really made for people that have money and I cannot about their money when they have challenge accept the target the house come to accomplish so that is the area or where people get challenge over long-term investment short term investment is for people who want their money very fast and who is inquisitive to get the money that is why it is better for you to run a short term investment or a long-term investment
