I learned about Bitcoin in 2010, my friend who was working as a software developer at a time told me about some "magic internet money". I didn't pay attention and just lived on. In 2011 I accidentally found this forum and realized Bitcoin has huge potential. I bought some and here I am 12 years later still HODLing.  8)

P.S. You're probably checking my registration date - yes I had a different account back then.  ;D

I heard about Bitcoin on a sad day for me since and I didn't have much to do and I was looking for information about using Kodi I accidentally came across a telegram chat that had just opened and it was exactly Bitcoin Italia of the good hostafat moderator. I was immediately fascinated by this technology that I never walked away from and continued to educate myself more and more.

You managed to hold beyond the ATH or do you mean you are holding some btc but have sold at times that it has gone up? If you did manage to keep hold of your btc in the ath you are probably one of the few that managed to do that. Most people sold even the die hard btc fans.

You would probably be better selling at ath and then reinvesting your money when there is a price correction.

First time in high school (2013-2014) when someone mentioned about "mining" or "using your PC to earn money". I was not well informed enough to get into it.
I decided to dive in this community and learn properly in 2020, out of concerns for my family's way to save money and have access to some asset which would not de-valuate as quick as our local FIAT currency. this happened while I was reading on Twitter about Bitcoin as an alternative to some payment processors which back then were difficult to access to us.

It's too long a story, I know bitcoin from the beginning because it was in 2014 until now, it still stands to continue to stand upright with bitcoin.

But what's more interesting is bringing about a change in our surroundings, friends and relatives now have started to switch to investing in bitcoin and they believe in the interest in bitcoin what I told them.

Most importantly BUY BTC, and long term HODLers. ;)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was because of the news of Silk Road 2.0 being shut down by the FBI. It was big enough news to make it to TVs and websites outside the bubble of crypto enthusiasts, so as you can imagine, my initial encounter didn't leave a positive opinion about Bitcoin. However, it gradually started changing as I learned more about banks, fiat, and how Bitcoin is different, and also figured that you can't really blame a neutral tool for being used for bad purposes (and all sorts of money are used by some people for bad purposes).

I believe it has been discussed hundreds of times. Ponzi schemes were once popular, if I recall correctly. Yes, I have invested in a couple of revenueshare sites. Then I started using fiat currencies like Perfect Money and Payza. Some people encouraged me to use Bitcoin, which I disliked because it is volatile. But now I thank them for inspiring me, and I'm slowly learning about Bitcoin. When I discovered how Ponzi worked, I decided to leave them. Of course, I am opposed to all Ponzi schemes in order to protect people from them.

Every first time is always unforgettable. First kiss, sex, and so on. The first time owning a BTC is like conquering a dream that you may want to fast-forward the year to 10 years ahead thinking about what you'd be doing if the value turns a million.

I got my BTC from an employer who after I worked for him also gave me 25ETH while its value is just $7. If I just knew it will be this big, I would have kept them also.

My decision to start using Bitcoin was influenced by a friend I had in university. Despite the fact that I have been hearing a lot about Bitcoin and seeing it on the internet. I was thrilled to learn about it from my friend because I enjoy learning new things, especially about Bitcoin. I then began my Bitcoin journey in 2019 by making a small investment.

Share your stories my friends, because each story is unique and interesting
Well I have shared my story many times in similar topic like this. But for you, I will do it again.
Here's how it went.
There were news about a game called Blue Whale which was available in the dark web. It seemed interesting to me, so I did some research on that. And there were this payment method where you had to pay in BTC.
That's the first time I came to know about BTC. But I was not involved with the market yet. Cause the news wrote all kind of negative things about BTC. Then I came to realize that it's not bitcoin's fault, it was those who created the game.
Then I forgot about it.
in early 2020 I was told that you can earn some money on the internet. That caught my eyes. Then I did some research and found out that you can mine them. So I searched the internet about mining. And from that point I got involved with this community.

Probably people have a different experience when discovering BTC but for me, I discover it on my own.
Back in those days when I was new in the crypto space, I remember looking for a platform that something I can earn money while at home, after such time I discovered a platform that has BTC airdrop while looking to gain money and altcoins airdrop very popular at that day, I can even earn more than 100 bucks just collecting airdrop. Freebitco.in is what I mean and until now still, they are giving airdrop.

Yes, this is true. After two cycles I was really proud of myself and didn't want to sell. I did want to sell some part during the last cycle but I missed the top completely. I'm hodling but 12 years is a very long time so I'm ready to sell (part of my stash) just waiting for the price to reach my target.

I have learned about bitcoin from some pyramid schemes on social media. Back in the day first I bought 0.03 Bitcoin to join that scheme  ;D
I won't regret joining that ponzi site I got to learn about the crypto industry from that and later I got myself into trading and started my first trading at poloniex.

Which coin your friend used to buy game credit for you? Smaller transactions like game credit cost you a lot of fees if you pay with bitcoin comparing the price of your product.

Yes, it would be more interesting if OP told about his first bitcoin investment to make the story more interesting. But given the current market situation, such questions also help people be more motivated or engaged. The topic, it's too old for you, but I believe a lot of newbies haven't seen it before. It won't be boring if you can inspire new market entrants here.

I found out about bitcoin, because I had to. It was kinda my fate.  :P

I needed to cash out a few bucks from my PayPal account, but it wasn't letting me do it for some reasons that I don't remember exactly (and that I don't want to disclose). Before I knew it, it blocked me access. So I had to switch onto something less pro-censorship. A client asked me if I accepted bitcoin... and here I am.  :)

There are many threads like this available through the search feature, but I’ll play along, again. I read an article in 2011 while at work about a new decentralized currency that was exploding in value. It was being used like cash on the internet and that fascinated me. The more I learned, the more bullish I became for about five years. It was a great rabbit hole to walk down.

Saw it in an advertisment while browsing. Then I've asked my friends about it and it happened that one of them is interested to it. Afterwards, we both read articles about Bitcoin and here we are now, still exploring this industry. I think same thing goes with the majority of people in this forum; someone told them about Bitcoin or you happened to come across this industry and chose to share it with your friends.

Been asked indeed, countless times. But that's indeed true. If you are struggling into something; might as well check why and where did you start in the first place to somehow boost you up on times of market downfall, perhaps in this industry. There are for sure people who thinks of giving up at this moment, but if they'd realize how long did they been into on this industry, this might help them tho'.

It's too often to answer thread questions like this, but it doesn't matter if you want to share my first experience with bitcoin.

The experience of getting to know Bitcoin started with knowing this forum from a good friend of mine. He asked me to create an account on Bitcointalk and do some airdrop tasks.

initially did not understand about bitcoin being the main coin.  but since the significant increase in bitcoin prices in 2016-2017 I started to enter and study bitcoin on this forum, as well as make some investments.

Bitcoin was my first digital investment and it has long term benefits.  created the first bitcoin wallet on blockchain.com.

I heard about Bitcoin in 2014 during my undergraduate years at a departmental gathering unfortunately for me I didn't have enough fund to invest then, even when I know it has a huge potential, one of my friend who invested then is now a millionaire in my country I wish I started earlier

I heard of Bitcoin in 2018, a friend of mine was trying to convince me to invest in it, but I didn't see it as something that has a future then. You won't blame me much because I had invested in MMM and some other pyramid scheme the  but ended up losing my funds, so I saw it as another pyramid scheme. But after many persuasion from my friend, I decided to invest a little, and that's how the journey began for me.

I heard about bitcoin on 4chan at first. That place can be full of weirdos so at first I didn’t buy which was possibly to my own detriment.

I continued to hear about bitcoin in other places so I thought why not. It turned out to be a very good investment for me. I found this forum in 2015 also which has helped a lot in my journey.

The news about bitcoin was probably the most trending talk during the year of 2020 in my locality. after bitcoin reached an ATH. everyone around me was just talking about bitcoin but i never actually developed any interest not until last year when a friend of properly put me through on the whole bitcoin and crypto ecosystem and he referred me to join this forum for more proper and exclusive knowledge on bitcoin and so far it has proved reliable. So i would say i was expose to bitcoin by a friend.

extraordinary. means you are one of those who has been in bitcoin for a long time. I think your experience will definitely keep you psychologically awake in holding bitcoin.

I'm still new to bitcoin in 2022. Introduced by a friend who actually I just knew my friend at that time.
and because of my lack of experience, sometimes I still feel panic when I see bitcoin prices fall. my panic is not wanting to sell the bitcoins that have been bought. But I'm always afraid of falling behind in making purchases. psychologically I am still often in a hurry.
and I want to ask. Does over time and as experience increases, can we become more psychologically in control of bitcoin investment?

There was a hype for deep web like 7-8 years ago and people would sell stuff or services without being tracked with bitcoin. I think the price was around 400 usd. I didn't trust to buy any bitcoin for the time being and now we're here  ;D Then, I guess I entered the blockchain thing when BTC was around 7k

I first came to know about bitcoins from a friend who introduced me to a Ponzi Scheme that their pyramid scheme was centered on gathering bitcoins for ourselves (I have shared this story a couple of times here). I didn't know that bitcoins will be very valuable in the future and so I did not really make moves to even move the bitcoins I had gotten out of their platform to a personal wallet. I lost all the bitcoins I was able to get via the pyramid scheme but I gained an interest in finding out more about these bitcoins that I had lost. That is how I got to know more about bitcoins.

I've known about it as early as 2014, through some ads on a favorite site I used to frequent, but I only ever had an honest interaction with it through this forum, and ever since then I've grown more and more fascinated with the wonders of bitcoin, which is mostly topped by my astonishment of how profitable it could be, and so I started small, joined bounty and contest programs thst lead to me owning a couple other cryptos which ultimately helped me build a substantial amount of wealth both within and outside the crypto space. I would say crypto is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

That was in late 2013 when a friend who lives in Europe sent me bitcoin mining machines and asked me to operate them because the cost of electricity in our country is much lower than in Europe and there is no censorship, in addition to that no one in my small town knew anything about bitcoin at that time.
I kept watching the work of these machines without understanding anything, and curiosity prompted me to search for more details about what their work is and how my friend earns money through them, and things remained vague to me until the beginning of 2015 when I stumbled upon the Bitcointalk forum by chance where I found all the information I was looking for And here I am, still an active member for seven years.

Through this forum we started reading and finding out about Bitcoin.
It sounded strange at first when some friends mentioned the phrase Bitcoin. They look serious with laptops that make curiosity even greater, it turns out that they are discussing on the forum and writing some things about the project to share with social media accounts.

A few moments after that they ate because one of the projects they participated in paid for the campaign results.
That's where I first signed up for an account and it turned out to be bigger than what I saw. I discovered a much more effective concept of financial transactions here.

Gaining full knowledge about bitcoin in the past decade would have been what one will depend his or her live on, it's worth striving hard for. However, most of us were ignorant about this solid information about bitcoin and didn't give it a trial. Although some didn't got the right information about it and were too scared to take a step in the space. Cryptocurrency was easy then with buying altcoins, and waiting for it to shoot to the moon with massive profits from them. Knowing about bitcoin few years ago was actually one of the good news that everyone wishes they got.

That's when I desired to learn more about it..... Though it hasn't been so rosy but I've learnt to hold and not throw all of my life investment on the line.... LoL

For me it's about a few years ago when the price of bitcoin was near 500 dollars, I remember for my birthday my girlfriend gave me a letter with a few words about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and how they work also she explained to me for a little bitcoin and the future of bitcoin and then she gave me access to a bitcoin wallet containing less than 100 dollars worth of bitcoin and that 100 dollar was the start point for my to start doing my own research about bitcoin, thanks to her and thanks to bitcoin I could earn money by investing and holding bitcoin and became independent.

That's really wholesome not gonna lie. I never heard of any women in my social circle being somehow interested in Bitcoin. For me it was the opposite though, I introduced Bitcoin to her though I am not sure if she is interested about it or not though I would force her to invest to it if she is not interested anyway.
Back then I just have the misconception of Bitcoin until a certain friend introduced it to me.

Back in 2017 when I was still a college student, I remember having a conversation between me and my close friend about watches and how I dreamt about owning at least one (1) good watch in my life. After he heard my story, he quickly told me about this forum and the opportunity to earn money online. At first, I was very hesitant to believe him but after reading and visiting this forum, I realized the long-term potential of BTC.

I remember back in the years, the price of BTC was much lower and everything was much simpler. KYC was non-existent at that time and exchanges were fairly lenient. Gambling websites offer lots of bonuses and you could create multiple accounts without worrying too much on your privacy.

I've read about Bitcoin somewhere around December 2013 or January 2014.
Unfortunately I didn't understand much back then and I've spent some (far too much) time (ie years!) following altcoins.
However, at some point, I understood that the vast majority of altcoins don't deserve any attention, while Bitcoin deserves pretty much all the attention. Things got better since then.

So yes, I've bought satoshis when BTC was priced at 220$; but I've also spent plenty of bitcoins; I've paid for my laptop (long ago) coins for which I could have been buying a new car in 2021. Money come, money go.

Share your stories my friends, because each story is unique and interesting
You ought to have set the pace by sharing with us how you got into Bitcoin first 🙄

Notwithstanding, let me share mine. Though I've shared this story before here, I feel nostalgic each time I share it. I stumbled on Bitcoin on my own. No investment or whatsoever was attached to my encounter with Bitcoin. That was in 2016. I was listening to a  radio programme that morning and some dudes were talking about Bitcoin (it was the first time I heard of that name). What triggered my curiosity was when they mentioned the price if Bitcoin and how it was greater than a dollar. I think they put it at $750 per a Bitcoin and that wowed me. After the programme I searched Bitcoin on the net. Then I clicked on something that took me to a site with multiple other cryptocurrencies listed. I later got to know that was Coinmarketcap. I guess it was from that CMC site that I clicked a link to this forum. I didn't even know there was a potential to post and earn before then. Well, here we are today.

Hi all,friends :)
I think that this question will seem very interesting, because the story of acquaintance and first investment in bitcoin will never be forgotten
Someone found out from friends, someone read on the internet, and someone may be standing at the birth of the cryptocurrency itself
Share your stories my friends, because each story is unique and interesting
Because of some certain hyip that i do read on facebook which it did really hook me out because it do offers huge interest in a shortest time or duration which do really make me interested on it.
First things first that i dont know on how to get Bitcoin and this is where all things do started on which making out some research on how to attain it just to make some funding with those hyip
accounts and earn until i had been scammed and do learned up lesson on the worst possible way but later on i did make myself that knowledgeable and able to realize
on what are the things that should have been done and im not im focused on investing via through accumulating some bitcoin and some altcoins.

It's good if you also tell about you.

I'm only here 2 years and starting from 2020 because before that I was a bit anti-bitcoin person because I was on the fiat side before but indeed for some reasons I switched to bitcoin after studying and observing some conditions where I had to change at that time but stupidly I immediately tried trading at that time so that I felt a little disappointed with bitcoin even though this was my careless action and from late 2020/early 2021 I forgot a little I really learned more and established myself with bitcoin until now.

It's almost the same story as mine, starting with getting bitcoin from faucet sites, then moving on to HYIP investment because we thought that was the only way to earn bitcoin other than purchasing it, only to find out you were scammed after a few weeks, and then I went to editing a photo or making a logo that got paid in bitcoin. Then I discovered the forum, which was at a time when there were a lot of ICOs that were very promising and not shitcoins, and that is where I started earning and meeting online friends to guide me, which is where I am now.

Why does it feel like this question is always being asked? I seem to have seen a question like this before. I know Bitcoin very simply because someone told me that I can make money.

Honestly I never had any orientation on crypto I only keep watching the news in CNN and BBC and each time I noticed when the BTC chart comes up it was always going upwards against the dollar that was last year 2021 so I curiously started asking questions.... Now here I am not only a BTC owner but also an educator ...

TBH I don't even remember. I heard about it about 10 years ago but started buying just a couple of years back. One of the greatest mistakes of my life.

I got to know about Bitcoin in 2015 when I was a student. At that time, I had no idea what it was and took it as a joke. Now I realise the potential. It’s better to be late than never!
