Title: SM Megamall is now ride on NFT's and Bitcoin
Post by: bettercrypto on December 26, 2022, 07:52:59 AM
Hello everyone,

Here in my country most provinces and cities here can be said to have SM Malls that people actually visit. And one of the good things this year is that MetaverseGo partnered with SM Megamall to give away Astro NFT's.

What is Astro NFT?

Quote
Astro NFT is an art collectible with an actual utility, to top it off, redemption is free,” Jake San Diego, MetaverseGo’s Co-founder and Chief Business Development Officer, stressed.

In addition to that, I have seen a T-shirt displayed in the SM mall department store that says Bitcoin, it's just so cool to see because malls like this are open to this kind of innovation in the virtual world in terms of mass adoption.

Is it actually free? I mean just need to drop by on their boutique on Megamall then they'll give you one. Whats the utility of the free nft?

At least its now being connected to nft and Philippines are gonna be adopting a lot in connection to blockchain. Btw OP, until when this activity of Metaverse Go? Does they run it for the rest of the year or  with certain dates only.

That's only a few hours of commute from my place.

But I don't think there is a market for BTC merchandise in the Philippines unless they want to draw attention when going to public places. Plus, why don't they settle for a more minimalist design? They just made the logo look awful by putting a hand and limbs  ::)

Afaik, SM Always allow this kind of boot since this just a brand endorosame with the bunch of insurance agents and condominium sales. I knew Astro is a huge NFT project and I’m wondering what is the requirements needed to get there freebies or its just free by just downloading there app.

I might go in there before new year to purchase PS games as gift to myself. Does anyone know what floor exactly is there boot located because SM Megamall is very huge to search for this kind of boot.

Well according to the articles it will only run until January next year.

Yes, you need to drop by on their place at megamall to get your free NFT, and the utility as far as I know was MGC according to what I saw
to their platform when you're gonna top up on it.

You can easily visit the MetaverseGo booth located at Level 3 of the Mega Fashion Hall in between Uniqlo and Faceshop.

MGC being?  Metaverse Go Coin, or?

-----

This feels like a trendy way tp promote a new Coin nobody has heard of.  Get the app, get a free NFT and tell every one they are giving it for free.

Maybe @PrivacyG this is what OP is saying, when you enter their website you will see a wallet there and this is what you will see

That's probably the utility used when topping up for NFT of metaverseGo.

And according to what I read in the source, they give a free NFT if you personally come to their boot located at the SM megamall,
meaning, no appearance no NFT that's simple as that. It's their rules anyway :)

Literally just went into that mall earlier today and haven't find that promotion anywhere. SM Supermalls have been known to ride on to these promotions whenever there is one, and most probably this promotion is paid and not because SM believes in the project whatsoever. But nevertheless, any publicity is good publicity, although to be honest I don't know what they mean when the NFT has "utility" apart from its assumed value.

Anyways, from experience this booth is nothing special compared to other booths that are present within the mall. Perhaps it's just too uncommon to see a crypto brand trying to promote its name in a place where people are still quite unsure what cryptocurrencies are. Oh and that shirt looks nice, too.

That is just wonderful to see “crypto space” is going out of the way and into the real world just like that. I love it how they are going very far to promote this NFT and they must be killing it with the real deal. On this thread itself there are so many people who are interested in visiting the booth and understand what is it and also try it out. :-)

I wish our locals had such approach towards the NFT or other crypto related product. In here they will have to go through lot of paper work and law makers. Hope so this becomes the usual thing everywhere.

I was intrigued by the topic subject, This mall is hours from my place where I reside currently. Is that actually free even I don't buy anything from their stall?

I don't expect that NFT to have a unique utility for now but it's free, No harm to get that now. I might go there after the new year celebration. I hope that their cute shirts doesn't cost that much since I do might plan to purchase a bunch if their price is affordable. I should make a schedule of my visit to that mall now.

They're too late in doing that. If they've done this during the craze, they'll make a name for it. But still, a good feature and try though. Good luck to those folks that are looking forward to having that. I'm far from that place but I know how to go there and have myself travel just for it but I don't know if I'll do that for this NFT. It's cool to see merch that's tied with bitcoin and crypto stuff but I've realized that I'll not wear that in the public to avoid a wrench attack.

So I was checking out the so called "utility" of the token from the article, and I only found this
Quote
Astro NFT holders are entitled to a free spin per scan per unique establishment that entitles them to win gift certificates from establishments such as Uniqlo, The Moment Group, Slimmer’s World, Plains and Prints, and Crocs. They are also entitled to a free 1-day Game Pass which they can use to play within the MetaverseGo app. Swing by the MetaverseGo booth located at the Level 3, Mega Fashion Hall in between Uniqlo and Faceshop to know more about promo mechanics and NFT utility.
This.. doesn't really say much imo.

Also for those trying to claim, here are the steps from their site itself for more specifics
Source: https://app.metaversego.gg/launchpad/astro/mechanics (https://app.metaversego.gg/launchpad/astro/mechanics)

I also checked the utility on their site, and confirmed that it's just the free spins (so far at least). Doesn't really make it that enticing, but if it's free then if you're going to swing by then you can probably get it easily. I'd rather they held off it's release and instead developed it's utility more to be released all at once though.

Is there any minimum expenses first before you can claim it? I actually haven't heard it and might be visiting Megamall this few days, this is actually good as it would let the people be curious on what the NFT is about I'm sure a lot of people already have claimed their NFT and I just hope that it's not too late next year.

From what I understand, they have giveaways that are given out for free you just need to go in person to their boot section on the 3rd level/floor. Apart from that, they start transacting with anyone from 6 pm to 10 pm.

And This giveaway NFT that they give is the Gudi squad NFT that started on November 25, 2022. Then the only thing I don't understand is that you can buy NFT via their utility but I'm not sure about this yet. That's all I can say because it's their MGC, it's the utility because it's the one that appears in their payment method when you top up.

I can't find what the "actual utility" is but i am betting my shirt that it's something that could have done with a database. People should really embrace the fun and stupidity of nft collectables instead of making up "real utility" for it.

I mean there are actual real utilities for it like in uniswap lp positions but that's not some easy enough idea to understand or sell to people. And come to think of it, why would they even need to know about it? It's a working product. There's no need to understand what's under the hood.

Instead embrace the silliness of NFTs, like in early days of doge people embraced the absurdity of it, and everyone has more fun.

   - I also tried to go around SM megamall and this is what I saw in their department store this is the T-shirt that I saw, and even the wristwatch they have something like this.

Does this mean that eventually, it is not unlikely that they will accept Bitcoin as a payment option in this regard? It's a good sign.

Now that is some cool ride to take around the town. We meeting the real world NFT's around us and they giving us free goodies. Soon we will start accepting NFT as mode of payment, gaming houses in the malls, parks and what not.At least I would like to think about it in that way. From past readings I understand that there are shopping malls who also tried to accept the bitcoins but due to it's volatility they discontinued it. However, in case of NFT the value could be growing all the time since it is more or less based on the art and collectible ventures. The get valued more as they keep passing on from one person to another. Hope so they do best in the near future

It seems even malls are taking advantage of crypto craze, it is a good site to see that bigger store is taking notice of NFTs and cryptocurrency, it is quite surprising because Banco de Oro is somehow hostile on cryptocurrency but SM Megamall rides NFT and Bitcoin popularity.  If I am not mistaken Banco de Oro  is an SM Investment.

They are or the leaders behind SM now is young and that's why they are into crypto and NFT's and what is the latest craze in the NFT. And for sure they want to be the prime mover in the Philippines, after all they are one of the biggest companies in the Philippines and their malls are also in the top 10 as far as the biggest in the world.

BDO though is very different, I mean what do you expect from one of the leading banks in the Philippines?

As a crypto enthusiast, it's nice in my eyes to see that what is written in the design of the T-shirt and wristwatch is related to cryptocurrency. Maybe it's just a matter of time before we will see that the cashier payment at Megamall and even in their other branches will include Bitcoin as another payment options for shoppers.

If this happens, it will be a huge innovation in our era, that's for sure. I hope other malls like Robinson, and others will be open to this kind of concept.

I'll probably go and buy those T-shirts if I'm going to see it in SM, but not sure what store caters for it, I may have to do my own research and see how it goes. It's going to be huge if we are going to see them accepting crypto payment and probably it will be the first time that we are going to see in the Philippines as big as SM companies accepting it.

I don't see it innovation though, it's already here, it's just a matter on how any industries are going to adopt and ride the hype train on NFT.

But I do agree it will be great for competition again if we see Gokongwei's Robinson mall and it's subsidiaries follow this concept as well.
