Title: Help "I had Free Bitcoin 2011 with registration"
Post by: Devyl94 on December 27, 2022, 11:03:26 PM
Hallo ,

It was 2011 , maybe summer , I registered on a site to receive Bitcoins as a gift

I can't log in my email anymore for identification problems of microsoft.

Does anyone know any sites or exchanges where they gave away Bitcoins in 2011?

Thanks and best regards

Kraken exchange that I know was alive in that year but I don't know if they giveaway BTC before if you are looking for other companies or exchange that was alive in that year 2011 check this list below.

Why not just provide your documents to Microsoft instead just to get the information you need about this exchange or site that you use where you receive giveaways?

I'm sure if ever you found that site or exchange you still need to provide the old email you use and they will send authentication to make sure you are the rightful owner. If you don't have access to your Email there's no way to recover them if that's the only thing that you provide before.

There was a site named bitcoin faucet, if I'm not wrong that site used giveaway free bitcoins back in the day.
You can try logging into that site. That site also has a way of earning bitcoin faucets by doing some tasks. But I am afraid you need to verify your email if the site still exists, so better make a way to log in to your email account.

Hmmm, no one is into sorcery here -- atleast not the peeps I know here, not even myself... How do we get to know which site you were given 'em coins? Yeah, back then, there were alot of sites in operation but only few did stuffs like this ....
Secondly, what's the essence of trying to login your email if I may ask? Don't tell me you're tryna claim some audio Bitcoin that weren't shown much concern when awarded until now, is it? Cus virtually everyone HODLing much BTCs in the system got some as you did too; they weren't as careless as you to have gotten it in their control until now, No...that wasn't the case.
The only thing you'd do to save your ass (if only it works) is to try recovering that OLD email, except maybe you added a recovery email back then, if not,  it's gone for life, just as you never wanted 'em at first. Good luck with that!

Best you can do is talk to Microsoft Support.  If you can not even log in to your e-mail any more, why do you think finding the website that gave you Bitcoin for free helps you in any way?

Am pretty sure over 90 percent of the Bitcoin promoting websites that existed back in 2011 are dead today.  I think looking for it is beating a dead horse.  Better solve your first problem first.  Gain back access to your account.

That is why it was necessary to keep the bitcoin personally. Even years later, you would be able to access them. Now, the situation is such that the chances of regaining access to these bitcoin are almost zero. What in 2011, what in 2022, people trust storage btc to different online platforms. As a result, an almost guaranteed loss if left for many years.

The website giving the bitcoins doesn't matter much after that many years.
If you withdrew those coins into your own wallet - which I expect you didn't - then you should have the private key or a wallet file at least.
If you've left your bitcoins in others' custody (at the same site that gave the bitcoins or another) - which I expect you did - those have most probably spent your coins (in a way or another) long ago and the service no longer exists.

So, did you left the money there or you've withdrew into a local wallet or a non custodial web wallet?

Forever there are cases like yours and in fact there are many well documented but they have more additional information to conceive a positive result.

On the other hand, it took you a long time to formulate or think about those bitcoins, if you trust that the search for that information, then is worth "investing" time and money in that happy end, You do not repeat today, the "mistake" that brings you here.

There are always people who have cases not necessarily similar to yours but here is a story that is developing.

There were some sites that gave away bitcoins, they were the so-called faucets, but I think many will have closed and will no longer be available.  Is this particular one you mention still active?  You write that you have a verification problem with your Microsoft email but if the problem depends on your email and the site is still active then you should write to Microsoft support otherwise if I misunderstood I ask you to explain better what your problem is.

There's nothing if you'll try contacting them but I have a doubt that's already gone together with the website.
Because usually, the Bitcoin website that has a faucet or Bitcoin giveaways was shut down and can't open anymore.  Not unless you have control of that wallet's private key so that you can able to recover the wallet even though the site itself was shut down.

Freebitco.in was the oldest gambling site that has a faucet since I'm new in crypto and I think before that was not a gambling casino.

Try to recover the email by contacting Microsoft, but to be honest, I'm not sure the free bitcoin sites we called faucets from 2011 will still be around for now. I'm pretty sure about it because I used to join a lot of faucets to get free bitcoins, but in 2020 when I checked those faucets, it was gone.
We can't blame you either because back then, everything was very new, and no one thought bitcoin could be as successful as it is today, in so many cases like you.

Even if the site is still active, which is unlikely, and even if you had a few bitcoins in your account at the time, which were worth only a few dollars, it is unlikely that the site owner would have left such an amount of money in a dormant account for so long. It's worth noting that the value of 1 BTC soared to over 60k USD in 2021. So that money is most likely gone long ago.

I hope you can get it even though I thought it was no longer there. The site may also have been offline for a long time and no one cares about it anymore. But it never hurts to try contacting Microsoft.

But if one email has been inactive for 6 months to 1 year, the provider will delete everything and you can not get anything. But good luck @OP.

Exactly, even if that site is alive the chances are almost zero as things have changed in the last 12 years. When OP got those free bitcoins, it was worth less than 1 dollar, and now they are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, asking the site to pay for those bitcoins will never happen.

OP, those bitcoins were once in your possession, but since you don't withdraw them to your non-custodial wallet, if you can find them again, they will have no reason to pay you. Their value has changed a lot, no one gives you hundreds of thousands of dollars for free.

I do t quite get you!

Are you saying, you don't know the exchange for which you were given them free bitcoinss back in 2011? Or
Your actually looking out for new sites with similar giveaway offerings? Maybe you could find that with altcoins and not bitcoins.

You writing g about being aware of your password... That's should be enough get away or login into your account, at least for the email. At what point are you getting this verification request should your password be right.

It was wrong of you of you attached any value to it at all, to have used furged details. It's as well gone but, I won't say you should stop trying to retrieve it either.

Even in 2011 there are multiple scam sites that trick people into thinking they are getting free stuff including bitcoins AFAIK, but I get that there's no hurt in trying so maybe ask Microsoft Support if they can helpcyou get a hold of that email adress once again so you can access the site. That is if the site is still active to this day which I highly doubt given how many crypto aites have gone under the radar in the few years bitcoin has been in circulation. Then again, just try, who knows, things may go in your favor after all.

You registered on a site to receive free bitcoins as a gift right? So why didn't you get your gift? What kind of a site giving free bitcoins asks for email and not a bitcoin address? You don't even have an address.

To be honest in 2011 most of crypto related website gift a free bitcoin, although I joined bitcoin in 2014 because there is dozen faucet that give u free bitcoin and its a lot can be farmed at that time.

Try open your browsing history if your computer still exist and back in 2014 Im using wallet from blockchain.info and coinbase maybe you can check there aswell

There might be something fishy about it. Back then, too, frauds were prevalent. They are much more pronounced today, but they were there. You should ask Microsoft Support to help and guide you with that. Email address.

Quick advice to the OP: give up.
Even if the site is still active today and is willing to give you the bitcoins you claimed years ago while too valuable right now, you may not be able to recover them because you have lost access.

I doubt that bitcoin was the target of scammers back then, it was a disproportionate effort because bitcoin was not very valuable and in circulation was much less than today. It will bring scammers at high risk of being caught.

In 2011, bitcoin had little value and there were many faucets giving away bitcoins for free, so there is no scam in this case. The OP's problem was that he didn't withdraw it to his personal wallet at the time, so even if he could find the email and access the website, I can assure you that he will not get those bitcoins back. Just take a look at the current value of bitcoin, it's a huge amount, I'm sure that nobody would be willing to give you free money these days.

I would advise you to forget it, your efforts will go nowhere, even if that faucet is still working and you recover your Hotmail account. If you don't appreciate it when it's worthless or only worth dollars, when it's worth tens of thousands of dollars, you can't own it either.

I just want to ask you one thing, if you are the owner of that website and when someone asks about bitcoins from 12 years ago and wants it back, would you be willing to pay them bitcoins? I'm sure you would say no, so you shouldn't expect them to pay you bitcoins that way either.

I think it was difficult to find a site that gave you free bitcoins at that time, because since 2011 there have been many sites spread out to offer free bitcoins and not all sites will give us bitcoins for free, if you still remember the email and password and can't verify then the site I think has become a scam and we can't re-enter to take the assets we have, try you contact Microsoft maybe they can help you in logging in to your account, actually many events happen like the one you experienced but they no longer care because they think that the site is already a scam.

I had 2+ bitcoins that is now gone as well, it's common if you have been here for a long time. I couldn't get back in, no matter what I did, no matter what I tried, I forgot the mail that I used as well so it was like near impossible. In any case, it's fine and I do not care anymore it's really not that important.

It was something that I had once in a while and now gone, that's it. If you want to make money, do not look for the past but look at the future, that would be a better way. Maybe you won't have that much bitcoins, but it's better to have something small than hopes of something with reality of nothing. That would at least give you some solutions this way.

It's hard for me to think because in this statement alone I think it's already an answer.
Quote
I used an email with random personal data, I remember the password but I can't verify the identity

On the other hand it would be great if the OP linked something else in his email to be able to verify but for it's been over a decade I'm not even sure this email can be recovered especially as far as I know if the email hasn't been used for a long time then it's like it can't be accessed anymore.
Let alone for more than a decade, maybe even for 1 year, the unused email will disappear.
I think giving up is a good thing, not to belittle the seriousness of the OP but this is definitely difficult even if you contact microsoft to prove it.

If the website was from 2011, it's very likely that the faucet might have already been down and closed a long time ago. I've been into faucets when I was new and most of them, I've never seen them operate again and gone permanently.
I know that you could have good amounts from that year but, it's most likely that you'll never see it back again unless you remember the exact thing and you're just involving everyone trying to help you guess what it is.
