Title: Electrum 4.3.3 Relased Post by: PX-Z on January 03, 2023, 03:17:31 PM Even at this early days of the year after a long holiday devs still deliver its newest update of the app to its newest version. And yeah, with lots of fixed bugs this includes lightning, hardware wallets connection, binaries, etc.
Release notes Code: # Release 4.3.3 - (January 3, 2023) Reminder: Only download electrum from the main website[1] and don't forget to verify[2] before installing it. Sometimes it takes really lot of time (ok, not very much, but enough to start thinking if maybe something is wrong or button was not clicked or sth).
The more inputs, the longer it is. And yeah, with lots of fixed bugs this includes lightning, hardware wallets connection, binaries, etc. I see there is some important updates for hardware wallets like Trezor and ledger, and they even added warning for everyone who is still using ledger HW.1 devices, they should migrate asap if they want to continue using them with Electrum wallet. My habit is to usually wait few days after release of newest Electrum update, just in case there are some unexpected bugs and problems found. It would be nice to warn other members here in this forum about the thing you shared. This is for others who use Cold wallets such as Electrum and for the safety of their assets.
I just remembered from a member here on the forum that he also used Electrum but he didn't immediately update to its latest version, that's why the hacker suddenly came to drain the contents of his wallet on Electrum because of the old version he was using. Are you talking about julerz12 who reported I've been hacked (Electrum 4.3.2) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5433643.0) as he was also using Electrum 4.3.2 ? I don't think the hacker was able to exploit electrum because he was using the previous version of electrum. There is nothing mentioned on the electrum site that Electrum 4.3.2 is vulnerable. What do you say? Is upgrading to the new version is a must ??? Are you sure you know what you're talking about? Because Electrum can be used as hot wallet, as cold wallet, or with a hardware wallet... I just remembered from a member here on the forum that he also used Electrum but he didn't immediately update to its latest version, that's why the hacker suddenly came to drain the contents of his wallet on Electrum because of the old version he was using. Again, are you sure you know what you're talking about? The hack everybody is talking about is more likely due of some malware installed on his computer than any problem of the older Electrum. If Electrum itself would be affected we would have been hearing already of much more hacks... Sometimes it takes really lot of time (ok, not very much, but enough to start thinking if maybe something is wrong or button was not clicked or sth). Have tried on suite?. The more inputs, the longer it is. that possible problem in your HW if have the same case. because if too many inputs, with or without a hard wallet, you will get the same problem in electrum. just find the best data cable to reduce it, Title: Re: Electrum 4.3.3 Relased Post by: Pmalek on January 15, 2023, 10:25:47 AM It's time to update my Electrum version as well. The last time I checked, I was using the 4.2.2 version, but since my Electrum is connected to my hardware wallet, I am not worried. There also haven't been any vulnerabilities or major issues with that version that I am aware off.
When I upgraded to ver. 4.2.2., I noticed quite an improvement when signing transactions with my Ledger compared to older versions. When I was doing consolidations, for example, it would take a long time to sign with all the private keys. That has greatly improved thankfully. |
