I think if you want to sell your motorbike and the money to buy bitcoin, in my opinion that's the right decision, because now is the time to buy bitcoin, because the market is bearish, of course if you buy now it will definitely have good potential for the future. but still you also have to think about the risk of investing in bitcoin, because investing is a risk of profit and loss. but if you don't sell your motorbike either I don't think there will be a problem because an old motorbike will usually have the potential to become an antique in the future. Why not? You can sell that car because you also don't use it, and if left for a long time, its value will also decrease. You have made the right decision to sell your spare and old bike. OP your bike's value will not increase over time but it will lost its value so buy some bitcoins with it. Good idea as you are grabbing the opportunity instead of savings. Saving money is the loss of money as you said the bike was not in use or is not in use so your decision is good. Well, you already answered it on your post already and if likely you're determine to sell it for Bitcoin, have second thoughts before you do so. It's not like easy as that for an speculation, price valuation may take longer than expected and I hope you're prepared if it declines even more in this stage.

I'm not discouraging you not to but this scenario is likely to happen and it may disrupt your mind if you want to sell it for a loss or hold it until you're in profit. It will be wrong if you buy then sold it for a huge loss and it will be the right decision if you hold onto it the longer.

Selling something to buy something profitable is a good thing and you are doing 'investment' right in my opinion. Some people would sell what is necessary because of their impression towards something which is profitable, perhaps Bitcoin, which is not a good thing to do. Always check your necessities and only invest an amount you can afford losing, as being mentioned endlessly. Inspite of the potential for this technology, investors should still measure the risks involved and it won't be smart to loan (in some instances as mentioned by other users in this forum) just to invest. Any form of investment won't guarantee profit especially with this blockchain wherein the market prices are too volatile.

If I had a similar situation with 2 motorcycles, then I would get rid of one, and with the extra money I would buy btc. Actually, no, I would not buy 2nd motorcycles and immediately buy btc. :)

You made the right choice. Motorbikes value depreciate as time passes by while Bitcoin value is proven increasing over time no matter how hard it will dump from ATH. I believe no one has the right to correct you here for your decision since it’s your motorbike.

Your other choices to do on the profit from bikes is to use it on business but investing on Bitcoin is the easiest way to earn profit long term.

First, You need to understand what bitcoin and crypto is before you sell your motorbike. I'm sure that there will be a confusion or possible danger of losing your cryptocurrency after you sold your motorbike. Accumulating Bitcoin is a great idea but it is not advisable to sell your precious property to do so or take out a loan to do so because you believe you can profit from it in the future. Before selling your motorbike to buy Bitcoin, try to go thoroughly investigate the risks that the cryptocurrency market entails.

This is a personal matter in fact, there are people who do not want to sell their physical possessions to buy bitcoins because they see it as a risk, they just buy bitcoins with more money than they need.

The decision is fine as it totally depends on your personal preference. You can buy BTC on not, that's totally up to you. And as the motorbike has already become old, so I think it was a wise decision to sell. It's not like you can keep them fresh forever or sell them as an antique piece. It's not worth it.
But coming to your last words said in the post, not having experience in bitcoin or crypto could lead to your downfall. Don't get into trading with your bought BTC. Use proper guideline to store your assets in order to keep them safe from hackers and scammers.

Selling the motorbike to buy bitcoin is a great idea, bitcoin prize is still really low now, and is a great moment to invest in it. I have sold some stuff too to invest in cryptos, and now is the time to hold and wait for the bump, at least we should double up the invested money this year.

Is it something already considered a classic? Is there any special interest in the market regarding your motorbike? What condition is the motorbike anyway? Bikes that are considered as street classics usually appreciate in value over time, and I have one in my garage collecting dust at the moment. Planning to hold on to it for 10 more years while also keeping its engine, electricals, and fluids regularly maintained. It's a great investment on its own already, and it's always good to have your investment diversified too.

But I appreciated with your ideas and planning for investing at the future by selling motorbike and spent it for investing in Bitcoin, you are in the right time when investing Bitcoin nowadays.

Price Bitcoin under $17,000 and you brave selling your motorbike and use it for investing in Bitcoin, actually I have recommended wallet use later when investing in Bitcoin, don't fully trust or hold your Bitcoin assets in exchange market. In my opinion you are totally right. We have to get rid of stuff we have at home without any use. If you keep the motorbike it's going to get old and obsolet. Even when we don't use a vehicle, it still deteriorates and lose value on long term, so better that you exchange it into something that will gain value on long term. What can I say - you are not a true motorcycle soul if you want to sell them. You know how it say "4 wheel drive body, 2 wheels drive soul". Right now you are about to sell the part of your soul (but if you want to invest and then buy it back, then it is a different story). Motorcycles are not like cars. Manufacturers does not create them in same amount as car manufacturers do. In fact, if you keep your old motorcycle in good condition, then its value will only grow up. Dont forget, that it is easier to fix car after incident, than motorcycle. What I am trying to say, that the amount of motorcycles on a road decrease, their value grows. But you plan to sell it to but BTC. Bad idea imho.

In my opinion your decision to sell an old bike to buy bitcoins is a good one. I don’t think anyone here would disagree, it’s a bitcoin forum after all. What I want you to remember is bitcoin is not a get-rich-quick scheme, so your investment may take longer than expected to reach your target. Just as the bike was sitting idle in the garage, I hope you can bring that same attitude to hodling your bitcoins in your wallet. Speaking of wallets, I recommend you use a wallet that gives you a seed phrase and is open source like Electrum. Many bitcoin users have lost their bitcoins to centralized exchanges and scam wallets this past year, it will be a shame to be a victim.

That's actually a smart move Op i think you deserve some accolades.
Because if you decide to leave the bike to just keeping lying still in one place it might eventually start developing some faults and that will also affect its price if you eventually decide to sell off the bike. But since you sold it now it means the bike is still in a good sharp and probably was sold for some good amount of money.

Op you should also be aware that those Bitcoin that you've gotten yourself need to be kept safe so as to protect your investment. I will advice that you purchase a hardware wallet and keep your Bitcoin in it that will provide more security than using online wallet.

From the title of your post, I assumed you've sold the motorbike to obtain Bitcoin but in the content you are seeking for advice as to whether you are about to take a right decision. In your next post please do well to make your title compatible with the content. So in my opinion, I think you're about to make a wrong decision.
Firstly, you said that you have no experience in Bitcoin and crypto and you decided to sell your motorbike to invest in Bitcoin. That's a blind decision.
secondly, you should not invest in what you have no experience about it. It's obvious you don't even know or ready for the challenges associated with Bitcoin investment. I would advise you to seek for more knowledge on how Bitcoin works before you take such action of selling your property for investment. Don't be in haste to invest because you hear people talking about it. You are not late to invest at any time. Take your time to learn something and have experience on whatever you choose to invest in, not only Bitcoin but everything that worth investing worth to be studied.

This time is not really the best time someone can sell it property because of investing with Bitcoin, because right now Bitcoin have not being doing good for the investment, but it's nice a idea for someone to sell it motorcycle to by Bitcoin, but it's okay to do so when you that the motorcycle is not something you know that is giving you or contributing for your daily income, so therefore that daily income is something you will consider first not to sell your motorcycle because is not increasing.

actually, if you have strong belief that btc will recover very soon, this is a very good opportunity to buy bitcoin. however, you should know the risks on putting money on this market. the value of motorbikes will surely decline, so if the OP feels that it is better to sell off his motorbike to buy btc, why not? as long as he knows what market he is getting into. no one can assure him that btc will rise in the next few months but it is worth the risk if the market bounces again. weigh the pros and cons, and the final decision will be on him.

I don't really understand the price of motorbikes and if you don't use it anymore then I agree with your decision to sell it. If you believe that bitcoin will increase drastically in the future then why not as long as that money is not used for urgent needs in the near future I think it's worth it.

@OP you will probably see your investment grow over time, so it is better than keeping unused items whose value continues to decrease. But here with zero bitcoin experience you will be another concern if you don't first learn the security aspects of the asset, especially in the long term.

Motorcycle is a liability, especially owning two and none possibly generates any income for you but you rather spend on petrol, engine oil, maintenance and the rest.
If I was to be in your shoes, I would have sold the motorcycle long ago to buy the same said Bitcoin. I really liked what you said. Bitcoin is an excellent investment for those who have learned about it and are willing to take the risk, but it will also be terrifying for those who know nothing about it and invest only according to someone's narrative. Well, if you are ready for all that, then I think you don't need to wait anymore but sell the bike immediately before it depreciates further, and the current bitcoin price is also very suitable to buy and hold. I don't know if you've heard of the recent demise of centralized exchanges, but my advice is: don't store bitcoins on exchanges, buy yourself a cold wallet or use a non-custodial wallet to hold bitcoins, don't use exchanges and custodial wallets.

Why the OP kept 2 motorcycles at all? Where they completely different (like one is a sport bike, and the other is enduro)? Or they were two of same class? If they were same, then it is reasonable to sell one. If they have different use case, they I would kept both. For me looks like a strange trade for the sake of investment. Why not sell then everything, but keep 1 fork, 1 spoon, 1 knife, 1 set of clothes, everything in 1.

It will be easier to sell one of the two bikes and keep one, I don't advise selling the two if you don't have a means of transportation, unless you have other good options, a better life is a wealthy life.

I know that motorbikes and cars value depreciate as time goes by but we have a reason of buying them in the first place, I have a car and I won't dare sell for Bitcoin because I got the car to transport my kids down to school every morning and also for other reasons, it's been very helpful so far.

Op, i think you have did the right thing because your statement tells that you are not using the motorbike you sold which is very good move you took. I would always encourage everyone in this particular season of the bitcoin market to purchase as much bitcoin as they can get there hands on. If you have kept the motorbike that you are not using, it would have resulted to the loss of value in the motorbike and the money that you would get from that motorbike over time will decrease excessive, so i think selling it and using the money for a  btc investment is a good choice you have made.

I think it is a good decision to sell motorbikes and buy bitcoins if you own a motorbike, its value will depreciate day by day but if you buy and hold bitcoins its value will increase over time. Most of my assets are stored in crypto but already pulled some out due to the heavy crash of the market, but hopefully it bounces back to stability. Assuming OP's story is true, @OP your need to get started with Bitcoin is just few searches away. I would advise you to invest in hardware wallet to hold your Bitcoin or at least paper wallet if you can do it as well. I am not sure how much your motorbike is worth after selling, but if you could make way for a hardware, please do so.

If OP had not sell the motorcycle,  the motorcycle would have been collecting money from his pocket for maintenance,  and later on if he wants to sell the value of the motorcycle will be less.  Selling it to acquire bitcoin is the thing to do to for the money he sold to later on increase in value.  The only thing he needs to do is to hodl bitcoin patiently and never be in haste to sell.  Long-term investment is always profitable just that some people finds it difficult till a time when it get profitable.

I don't know what country you are from and what is condition of price up and down in your country but here in my country almost all bikes price 2x in just six months. If you feel that you will get better bike than that with same price or cheap than it's good decision.

You already told that the bike you willing to sell is extra from your need . Now the question is how much you can hold BTC. If you have plan to hold BTC 3-5 years than I think it's your good decision because price of BTC already down and market is down. If you cannot hold for long time then you can lose here because if BTC can down from 65k to 17k it can also go further down.

Holding your moto will only cause the price of the moto to fall, but holding bitcoin in the long run will give you some nice profit and you can buy a better moto bike later. Since you have two motorcycles and you use one occasionally and the other rarely, you should sell one of your motorcycles and invest in Bitcoin. Since this plan was long ago, you should have invested right when the Bitcoin market was below $16000. Currently the Bitcoin market is pretty pumped and the price has risen above around $23000. If you sell your bike and invest in Bitcoin at that time. You would have a lot of profit at this time.
