Title: Do you believe racism has come to stay!! ?
Post by: Chucksmark on January 08, 2023, 05:44:03 AM
The majority of American adults believe that more than 150 years after the 13th Amendment ended slavery in the country, the legacy of slavery still affects how black people are treated in modern American culture. According to a recent Pew Research Center study, more than four out of ten respondents believe that racial equality has not been sufficiently advanced in the country. There is also some doubt that black people will ever enjoy equal rights with white people.

I don't believe racism has come to stay, over time the black population has evolved, blacks are currently being accepted across the globe, they are expert in almost every field of endeavours, ranging from sports, academics etc.
The age of white supremacist are gradually eroding as the years go by, the new generation of children, I believe don't have that capitalists mindset we use to have, where blacks, Chinese, Indian, Iran, Indonesia etc, are despised or looked down upon. I think as times goes on, the world will fully accept any race, without any form of racism attached. Because If I'm an expert on a particular field, I don't think a company will hire me because of my race, I think I will be hired based on my qualifications and expertise.

It never disappeared from this world, I'm sure they still exist, but it's just that such discriminatory acts happen on a minimal and rare level. The human world has never been equal and fair, there are always evils that quietly creep into our lives, just because we can't see or hear about them doesn't mean they don't exist. But we should also accept because the cases of racism, rich and poor, don't become too big, so we don't need to worry too much.

To some extent, it will be very difficult to eradicate racism in our society because, for some people, the behavior is genetic. Because, even today, most satanic behavior is represented by black, and the younger generations are still seeing it and comprehending its hidden meaning.

Consider a police officer searching only a black man among his white friends, with no regard for what others might think of him.

Racism would last forever. It would always be branded and rebranded to suit different societies and times. American Society would find it very difficult to eradicate racism because it has been institutionalized. The political, social, and economic sector of America doesn't favor blacks and other colored people. The police and judicial system has not been fair to the blacks which have led to a high rate of extrajudicial killings and racially influenced court judgement. Donald Trump's tenure as American President promoted racial discrimination to the extent that racists were openly celebrated by the government. African Americans also contribute to the racial discrimination they suffer. They must ensure they utilize educational and developmental opportunities, shun crime and be willing to contribute to the nation productively.

Racism is a major problem that needs to be erased permanently from our society and environment,  we should learn how to appreciate and respect each other irrespective of our different skin colour ,
Weather white or Black we are one, and we should show that through respect and love for each other.
It's hurts when I see footballers who give us joy been racially abused, most of them ends up crying and even walking off the pitch,
Racism has not come to stay I thank God an organisation like UEFA sounded it clearly SAY NO TO RACISM,. And the need to respect each other in every champions League matches,
The fight against racism is still on and sooner than later racism won't have a place among the human race

There is half truth in this but never the less Racism will one day become a thing of the past. There is hope in the sense that it get better by the year. How the blacks were treated in years past isn't the same today things get better each day the sun rise. But Africans leaving in Africa need to find a way to add more value to the society to attain a racially equal society. Americans will be left with no option but to treat the blacks with equality when the blacks in Africa start adding more value to the society

I doubt if Racism will ever end, just like things like Tribalism will never end.

I think the problem started when the Europeans or colonialist started poking around different parts of the world in the name of Exploration. If things had remained as they were several centuries ago where the natives stayed in their lands with no forms of colonialism and slavery from foreigners, the world would be a better place.

First of all, they really need to make some effort on changing this kind of mistreatment by educating their people against racism and all people need to be treated equally no matter what their race is and color. But we all know that this is not only the case in the USA but in the whole world as well because this kind of mindset has been imprinted by our ancestors to let us think some people are superior to others because of their past bloodlines and any other reasons. That's why to start changing these kinds of domino effects to the next generations, we need to strive to teach our children about the bad things about racism and it should not be in our mindset to think that we are superior to others due to our colors.

There is also some doubt that black people will ever enjoy equal rights with white people.
Just as there are doubts that the LGBT community will ever be fully accepted, equal opportunity for all races is also in doubts. There can be massive campaigns and programs aimed at raising awareness for people to easily accept every race as equal, but the only time it will be possible is when the mindset and perspectives of people that have been shaped by society is changed in a way that everyone on their own begin to see that we all the same regardless of our skin colors and race.

Agree! The United States always upholds the slogan of human rights, many people say that in the US human rights or human freedom always come first. But according to me, those things are ingrained in their minds and it's like a genetic disease that can't be completely cured and evils like racism that will never go away in their country.

Racism, and discrimination against women, and LGBT will always exist in this world, as long as people are greedy and jealous, these stories of discrimination will never disappear.

Instilling it in their minds is a result of family, community orientation, and education. Racism is controlled by some communities by indiscriminate punishment of the guilty; citizens have an easy time understanding the Government's views on racism and can exploit them. Black race seem to be most recipient of racism, it even comes from the Northern Africans. Education, strong ethics, and hard work should be the cornerstones of black culture to improve their future perceptions.

If we are talking about racism then it will not be completely discussed without diving into the history behind mother Theresa and how she was able to defend unity as against racism made on blacks in America, it happens that there usesd to be a section for bkacks and a section for whites in a train but not until a white man rose up against a black man in racism to give him seat, then the provoked mother Theresa challenge the white instantly and henceforth proposed a bill and fight racism against the blacks.

Racism can only be removed when when the African Continent is developed to the standard. Yes I will agree with you to some extent because we can see this from different world events where everyone one comes together to do things and there most be a thing use by the white to disqualified the black or remove the. from the gathering.

Write from 10 white people always choose or since black people like a slave so but in this current time I don't think that all those things are still in existence or working again so even white even black are not civilized like white people so all those things should be the character of that particular person that exhibit in particular country that can lead them to be thinking of this kind of negativity

I believe that there is only one race and that is human race ,

And as to Why racism is still surviving in this time and age is because  Of  behavioral patterns being transfer by show of modelling the culture of racism from the people who lived during the time when racism was legal to the young ones who weren't in existence at the time when racism was legal but got to practice racism not just because they were told that they have superior skin tone but because the ones before them either consciously or unconsciously had showed them how to go about the behavior of their ancestors to other races ,

Remember a child can forget forget what was told to him or her but can hardly forget what was demonstrated to him or her.

Racism is a cultural ideology practice by white supremacist,
although cultural ideologies can be reduced but can be wiped out so long as the people who once practice such are still in existence  , such ideology is likely to be transferred to the next generation.

So racism is here to stay

The phenomenon of racism does not only occur in America, but throughout the world. Racism is a racial problem that has been ingrained in the midst of multicultural society in various parts of the world. My country is one of the multicultural countries in the world. Racism can be interpreted as differences between humans which usually occur due to differences in skin color.

But in my country, racism is not only based on skin color, but also based on race, ethnicity, culture and beliefs of each human being. with so many differences and diversity in my country, of course acts of racism often occur and cannot be avoided. acts of racism will never disappear from this earth, in fact every country has made the right affirmation in order to reduce the spread of racism with regulations in the form of laws.
even so, acts of racism do not go away. as long as humans have hate, racial discrimination, ethnicity, skin color, racism will still exist.

I don’t think racism will stop now but it can be reduce to its minimal level that it won’t have any impact in the society again in the future. Black people I would also say have effect on how they’re been treated around the world. Some being treated like a piece of trash because of their disloyalty to one another but gave all their respect to the white man. Black people population has evolved over the year even though they can’t beat the population of the white.

One thing for sure is that they’ll also be supremacy by people around the world whether white or black, but the best of those are the ones that see each other and treat one another as sane humans. If this happens then we’ll be a bit closer to ending all this or being reduced drastically.

Great point mate. Racism is mostly suffered by people from developing societies because the developed world see them as parasites. Most racists see Africans as opportunist that comes to thier land to reap what they have not shown. Except Africans develop Africa, they would continually suffer racism and disrespect. Until Africa became comfortable for Africans that most of them wouldn't have the motivation to look for greener pastures abroad, racism might not end.

But come to think of it, how do Africans treat thier fellow Africans. Xenophobia and tribalism is ravaging the continent. When Africans don't like or respect fellow Africans, then why should we expect others to respect us. South Africans are killing fellow Africans in thier country. In my country tribalism and nepotism is killing the country. Some tribe in my country feels superior more than the others. Until we fix Africa economically, political and socially, racism against Africans will never end.

As you rightly point out, racism still exists in all countries, not just the US, but I don't think it is occurring as often as it used to be. I think that is very rare in today's world. Not only racism but other evils, such as discrimination between rich and poor and jealousy between religions... will always exist on this earth. In this world, we will never be able to see peace and equality, as long as there is human greed, these evils will never be able to vanish.

The history of racism in the uk is veritably old racism and geographical abomination have taken on a different color in the uk. The complaint of racism and immigration conflicts is now confined to all countries it has spread among people of other races as well as black and white. Professional politicians are using racism and immigration as their political tools. They're trying to move the white maturity that only blacks can cover white interests this is important hotter than the lid.

It will take time to eradicate racism from the world, especially in the United States and the United Kingdom. Because some of them still find it difficult to believe that all human races are equal, imagine buying a black phone  less expensive and a white phone more expensive just because of the colour variations. Even in their movies, whites are portrayed as superior humans over blacks.

Sure, xenofobia and racism exists everywhere and t would be racist to suggest otherwise. But west has pretty much industrialised racism by using it as a building block for a society, and made it an efficient tool for controlling minorities. But just because something has existed in the history, doesn't mean we couldn't get rid of it in the future. It will just be a slow process and requires a change in attitude and teaching material.

Who are 'minorities' and why are they called that?

How very American of you. Your constitution contains no reference to God either yet it's in everywhere. In the money too.

If you really didn't understood what i was saying i was of course referring to institutional racism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institutional_racism)

It's about discriminatory laws, policies and practices, as well as the lack of representation and opportunities for certain racial groups. And how beliefs and stereotypes about different racial groups are reinforced and perpetuated by institutions.

If you were unlucky and your school didn't teach about these things, sadly i am not much of a teacher either, and i would be much more comfortable to point you to an actual experts who have studied this a lot. Luckily there's ton of reading material around about structural/institutional racism. Start from wikipedia and then to studies (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4306458/) like this.

Are you simply playing? Or did you forget to read the rest of what I said.

1. How many categories of people are there? One for every person. For example. You can't judge people by the color of their skin as being in one race or another. Why not? Because everybody's skin color is different from everybody else's, even though skin is similar in many ways. In other words, every person is his own race. Racism is great, or don't you want to be an individual as everybody else is.

2. Harming other people is something that is wrong. It doesn't matter if they  have skin color that is basically different. Since they are people, harming them is wrong. And if they harm others through racism, they are wrong.

3. The whole racism focus is something that certain groups of people, usually in government, are using to weaken our working together. Racism is good, since we are all of the human race. Racism is good, since we are each our own race because of differences. People who use the idea of racism as a tool to cause harm to various people are bad.

Interesting you mention change of attitude and teaching material.
Because I have heard and read that in the United States, for example, there is an ongoing debate or argument about the material which children should learn in schools about topics like slavery and the history of racism in the West.

Allegedly some people wants future generations not to be aware of the atrocities of the past. Since I am not live in USA, I can not be sure whether the things I have read are true or not.  :P

It never really "came", it seem a natural instintc of humans to distrust whatever is different and somehow feel more affinity for those with similar looks and similar culture. It is also related to the ability to better interpret non-verbal communication of those similar to us. However, despite being natural, it does not mean that it is right and that we should accept it at all.

Now you are talking about why the divorce rate is so high. Marriage must be based on something other than trust. Maybe it's hormones. Do you think it's the same for racism?

Tribalism has been a characteristic of all hunting animals throughout history. Racism is just a form of tribalism, and it will never be eradicated.

Actually I noticed that in any place there is racism and it will always happened to a country who feels that their economic is very high so I believe that our country economy contribute almost 65% of differentiation of foreigners and the originator or origin of free country many country today not particular country or one country continue to partake in such racism depending what they are detecting 4 or 1 should be there reason of agitation

Racial equality is undoubtedly a key factor and is considered an essential part of the country's development, which should be promoted.
However, if the people are not following racial equality, the government must take strict action to ensure the same.

Racism is not natural. It is a word formed by man to hate his fellow man. On thinking how to execute the hatred they tagged to colour and race. Why I said that racism is the creation of man is that, if a fair complexioned baby is born into a dark complexioned family. As they grow together, no one will hate each other because of color. Racism is taught and there are fanatics who  always will remain racist for life.

I really feel bad when I see some football players suffer racist abuse, like a player once said, "IF I SCORE AM HUMAN AND IF I DON'T AM A MONKEY THAT Eats BANANAS" that sunk me badly, our authorities must do everything possible to eradicate racism from our society, because racism is more dangerous than ethnicity so don't racially abuse anyone for any reason he is human too, black lives matters like the white lives matters too.

There is no way racism can be abolished. Let us not deceive ourselves. People react to his people look, whether they are handicapped or of different colour or tribe like what happens in my country. You can not stop that. It has been there for ages. In today's world we also get to see that in sports too, with football fans chanting racist songs. Colour difference says alot. In my country those who are dark skin have a certain they react to albinos around them who are also blacks like them, and we want racism to stop at the world stage? It is not going to happen.

Racism can be backed a long time ago, from the colonial era's. It has been a thing among humans to be racist against some sets of people. We have heard of many cases when black or Africans are treated as trash just because of their skin differences. In the ancient times, black people are treated as slaves amongst the white and their lifes had no value. Racism can result from, skin differences, religion, culture, languages, beliefs and many more.In the world today though racism has been lessened with the introduction of some human right activist and some other laws Against racism. Some countries or persons still practices racism. So I don't think racism will ever be a thing in the past. It goes on and on till the end of time.

There's nothing that give room for racism than hatred on mankind, when there's live, we wouldn't see our fellow brothers from another country or background like an alien, we will embrace kive just as we would want to be loved by others, the truth is that if we always out ourselves in their same shoes then we will realize that one day we will also need help from others, we cannot leave this life alone without integrating with others, in eo doing we are learning from their cultures believes and lifestyle and way of life as a matter of fact, no need for bearing a wicked mind against each other.

Yes, that's how it is. Racism has become a world problem that has been going on for generations and is still there from year to year. in fact, in the process of solving this problem, a solution to this problem has not been found, not to mention that the problem of racism has been passed down from the previous generation to the younger generation now. many forms of racism have occurred in this world, such as insults and stereotypes against skin color and physical form. Discrimination in schools, workplaces, courts, to intimidation by security forces, many people around the world are discriminated against just because of the color of their skin and much more that doesn't just happen in football.

Cases of racism will never go away, and there are still many cases from the past until now that have never been resolved. in fact, sometimes we ourselves can unknowingly become perpetrators of racism or vice versa. So, will racism ever really go away, the answer is no.

in fact, in the process of solving this problem, a solution to this problem has not been found,

And I repeat as long as people get angry and loose control of their emotions, they will lose their reasoning and insults will fly up and down to get revenge and this is where the utterances that cause racism come out of the brain. We see people of other colours different from our own as though they are handicaps. Most people see handicapped people or those who are physically challenged as lesser humans. That is what also happens with colour difference to those who curse others because of skin difference. They see them as lesser human beings. With that there is no way it will end so long as man exists.

Racism still exists in many parts of the world due to factors like inequality, stereotypes, and lack of education. To eliminate it, we need to educate ourselves and others about different cultures and ethnicities, challenge biases, promote diversity, and support policies that promote equality and justice. It may take time, but it's important to stay hopeful and keep working towards a more fair and just society for everyone.

I do agree that racism is still prevalent in USA but it’s obvious that it’s already far different than the past centuries. Gen Z especially are very adamant on making changes in where they believe should be. It’s gonna be a long process, trying to erase a mindset that has sticked around for a thousand of years, but I believe we are making a significant progress. It might be possible for racism to be totally abolished.

The stupidity of the idea that there is racism is this. People are flocking to America as fast as they can... from all different countries. If they are going to be upset over getting together with people of other races, why come to America, the mixing-pot of all kinds of peoples and cultures and nations?

Likewise, if people don't like other races in America, go back to the country you came from. Or at least go to a country that has the same skin color. Then see how you like being with your own kind.

You can find all kinds of people saying that they are fighting racism. Most of them have a visible difference in their skin color or some other physical form than those they are fighting. Then go and take a look at peaceful people who have the same skin color or physical form as the agitators, and see that they deplore those of their own race who make a big stink over racism.

Wake up and see that it is government that is agitating the races in the US. They are doing it for money, skimming off the top of money they take from hard-working Americans to give to the lazy non-workers who are fighting against racism.

I have no doubt that some level of racism exists in all parts of the world, obviously some countries more than others. Modern day First World countries are much better than they used to be. Some countries even have job positions that have to be filled by people of colour, even if they are not the best candidate for the job. They have quotas to fill.

Racism exists towards white people too. I just wish there was no racism anywhere, we all bleed red. The colour of our skin means nothing. Like I said though, we have come a long way, there has been so much progress but skin colour shouldn’t even still be being discussed.

It is in the human nature to fear, despise and dislike anything considered "different", but it is also in our nature to mature and be rational about these instincts. It is not just racism, but also different cultures, religions or ways of thinking.

So, racism has not "come", it is something that humans just have by default, so unless you become aware of this, it will be there in all your decisions. Part of becoming adult is deciding what is right and wrong in our own nature, so most people will decide that racism, while quite natural, is undesirable and avoid racist attitudes. In people who are at a more mature level, racism as such dissapears.

Of course, all people are to a point racist. White, black, "yellow", "red" and all. This is applicable to anyone.

Racial and ethnic discrimination still occurs on a daily basis in many parts of the world.i'm of the opinion that someday, maybe in no distant time racism " oppression" of a racial group will be a thing of the past,it will not stay.though there are different forms of racism today that may not be very visible to the ordinary eye's except when looked at closely.i believe that the cure for this ungodly attitude is genuine love void of jealousy, bitterness and hatred, acceptance and the practice of the principles of equality.its high time we together kick this menace of our society cos racism is dumb.

Racism is part of human nature, for us to totally eliminate racism. We have to eliminate the human nature which is not possible, racism should be tolerated, that's the only way to kill it. Let's all tolerate it, because anything we can't change, the way to eliminate is to accept it. God that created us with different colours and sizes know they would be discrimination among the creator. I huge everyone going through racism in one way or the other to accept it , it's your facult. You will only overcome it, if you accept and endure it.

The idea of the existence of racism is something being promoted by government. Government is promoting it because they want to make one race out of all people... easier to control that way. Sure, different races exist, but we don't always have to agonize over this fact like government is trying to make us act.

As it is, the various races have abilities and ideals that are good, that they can offer to all the other races. The assorted peoples of the world should work together to the advantage of all.

Yet, many of the lifestyles of other races don't fit what is acceptable to us in our race. So, we will want to remain separate. This doesn't mean we can't live in friendly ways with other races. It simply means that we are free to NOT adopt every aspect of another race.

On one hand, the fact that more than four out of ten respondents believe that racial equality has not been sufficiently advanced in the country, and that there is doubt about whether black people will ever enjoy equal rights with white people, suggests that racism is still a significant issue in modern American culture.

On the other hand, there are also many efforts to combat racism and promote equality in the United States. For example, there are numerous civil rights organizations, laws protecting against discrimination, and ongoing discussions and debates about race relations in the country. Additionally, the fact that a majority of American adults recognize the ongoing effects of slavery on black people suggests a willingness to acknowledge and address the issue.

Overall, it is up to individuals and society as a whole to continue working towards greater racial equality and to actively combat racism in all its forms. While progress has certainly been made, there is still much work to be done to ensure that all people are treated with dignity, respect, and equality

In my opinion, in the state of racism in USA, it will come to stay for years. I think racism is deeply implanted in the roots of americans. They tend to see theirselves to be the superior race. I think this continued to be passed on to the generations since there is nothing done to end it. They continue to do racist acts. The mindset is still there and will still be passed on. It is sad to think that some people have that innate hatred towards a specific group of people. And it is more sad to think that kids today are still acquiring these mindsets.

Racism as come to stay to the best of my knowledge, for example take a look at South Africa upto now Black people are been treated as slave even in their on land. The white people are just deceiving us by showing it public that they are fighting racism which is not true. I was watching a video in YouTube titles "what do you think of Africa" it was so annoying to me, few people were asked but the answer they gave was so disgusting because the all have bad thoughts by Africa. If really their elite are really fighting to eradicate racism, they shouldn't have been saying all that about Africa. They only becomes friend with us if they see something good in us.

Racism in the west is synonymous with tribalism in Africa. And both have come to stay. The need for recognition amongst pairs and/or class means people are willing to smear, trample and segregate humans to feel good euphorically. Intolerance and uncompetitive attitude towards challenges stir racism/tribalism.
