I know you all are know this scam
but beginners send crypto to these addresses like dumbs

uneasy to say, but I doubt if YouTube recommended that. This event was what cost Sebastian his 10 bitcoins in the scam and this is an old event, I must say.

That's not new.

Those YouTube channels that has a huge following are mostly tricked by these scammers offering some sponsorships and they'll send a link where these content/YouTube channel owners has to fill on the phishing link that they've made.

And that's how the trick goes.

When they've taken full ownership of the channel and before the owner retrieves it back, they'll play an unstoppable live video of podcasts or interviews and the title is like a giveaway but we know it's a scam.

This has been a long-running scheme these scammers use to trick people off their valuable bitcoins. Back then there has even been an incident where mass hackings of twitter accounts, especially those of notable celebrities and personalities were held. Afterwhich posts like the ones you mentioned surfaced from these accounts which twitter took down eventually, but not before the scammers got away with a couple hundred or thousands of bitcoins at the time. That lone should serve as an evidence that scammers use their brain but they choose their victims, because schemes like these will not really work against the informed investor. It's just like the concept and logic behind the Nigerian Prince email spam.

This scams are so so lame. Why would anyone who supposedly want to go a giveaway using cryptocurrency want someone to first pay to a certain address and only then would you get double the amount. That’s a very poor idea for a scam and the scammers didn’t think much about it.

Sadly, a lot of people would still fall prey to this and would send some coins to the address to get double the worth back. I think the use of Elons picture is a nice touch as it would lead ignorant folks to believe more in the scam. I think people who would fall prey to this type of scam are either gullible or greedy or perhaps, both.

Scammers have gone far way above this. One just have to be very extra careful as not to fall into scams posing as such. All these can be caused by lack of sufficient knowledge. But I really don't understand how YouTube can allow such misleading advertising on the platform.

This has been happening with the cryptomarket for a long. People only need to be aware and keep their funds secure. Myself too came across the stream and made a cross check. I don't know how precise these people are getting into scam attempt through the YouTube which used to broadcast verified contents.

This is through stream, apart from this there are exchanges that look similar to the original exchanges. Need to be careful with the url and entering the login credentials. This have made many people loss their funds.

I keep saying that we all need to be careful out there, I've been a victim of this shiiit; all I did was to take a close look at the massages that kept popping up everytime... It's Kinda reviews from other so-called clients that got paid. When I took a close look, I realized that those reviews were smoothly done by copying &pasting -- nothing new was said -- it was simply some mere repetitions. I had to ask a question on how we were supposed to mine them BTCs when we send some amount of real BTCs to the provided wallet address: they were so dumb to the point of saying just the same things they said earlier and none was close as an answer to my question... There and then, I realized it was a big SCAM. This happened 5 years ago though...hehe
PLEASE, don't dare give a trail to anything related to that, it's a major SCAM

I've seen a similar one where there was an interview with Vitalik and below there was a fake ETH giveaway. I watched the address for a while out of curiosity if people are dumb enough to send them money but they didn't. It's a shame that people get caught by this low level scam. It's like messaging those fake youtube accounts on telegram that comment everywhere asking people to contact them because they have a private investment opportunity.

The problem is that scammers use verified accounts from Twitter, so they have the seal. Twitter users see the name Elon Musk with a seal on its side, leading them to imagine it's a legit giveaway. After all, that is the purpose of the verified accounts, right? I don't think it's all exclusivity of people's stupidity, but also a clear signal of Twitter system's flaws.

There is a black market of verified Twitter accounts which feed this kind of scam attempt and unfortunatelly the platform doesn't protect users from it. People are by themselves and must always question if the offers they are seeing around aren't too good to be true, before blindly going for them.

It is not that scammers are smart, it is that people are too dumb and fall for this scammers trick.  I bet the scammer has several people confirming the first transactions paying.  Then those naive investors believe the testaments of these so-called early participants, the hacker probably pays some strangers participating in the system making  readers and viewers believe that he is really paying, then when the scammer thinks he got enough, he will then run with the money.

It is the greediness of people that makes them lose more on this kind of scam.

people need to learn their lessons the hard way. scammers always look for some naive users out there, and there will always be people who are attracted with that kind of bait. maybe, it is the hope to earn more, greed or being gullible or just trying their luck. we all know that these scammers are feeding on these naive people. well, we can't stop someone unless they experienced being scammed. scammers don't use too much brain, they are just exploiting these gullible people who are after for get-rich-quick scheme.

Its not something new and its been already known back in the past with these very old tactic but surprisingly that there are still people who do get victimized with this kind of old trick.
People cant really stop nor get rid of their greed and once they had lost money then this is where people do learn.We should really have the time on reading up others
experiences so that we do at least make ourselves able to avoid without the need of losing money just because you havent done any research or do make your assignment.

This isn't new, the same on Twitter that someone impersonated those big-name accounts or hacked their account posting to double your Bitcoin.
I think people learned from that and no one will fool again with the same trick.  It's obvious that someone personating the Tesla Youtube account.

We can help them and bring this Youtube impersonating account down and Youtube will eventually close the account.
Go to their Youtube account name and click "About" under that tab you'll see a "report user" and click "impersonation".  With the huge number of reports, they'll easily be banned or close account.

I disagree, these scammers actually did not use much of their little grey matter to pull off this scam whatsoever. The only thing they did "right" was to assemble a nice looking webpage, so more people will fall for this disgrace of theft.

Scammers do not need to use their brain while these lame old scams continue to work against the most naive people on internet who happen to have some satoshis. It pains me to see how easily it is for them to get away with this.

they should be able to recognise a phish and auto ban the account/ad/recommendation.. they simply dont

cheating brains will always have ideas to cheat, so it's no wonder that there are a lot of fake brains and websites and their goal is beginners who are new to crypto

The problem with this is that Twitter does nothing to eliminate these bots. Even before Elon took over it was a major issue. Basically any large crypto follower had tons and tons of bots replying to any of their posts with this fake give a ways. They have been doing it for years. They do it because it works.

And the scam is pretty clever because if you look at the block explorer for those deposit addresses they give away, it shows people making deposits and right after getting 100% sent back. And they look legit however those are transactions that the bots send back and forth. Twitter needs to do something to combat this theft.

People may be beginners in the bitcoin and cryptocurrency world but they are not new to this world and this life! For example someone promising a massive amount of money in return if you pay them something first is a red flag anywhere in the world, using bitcoin doesn't change that! This means anybody who falls for it is gullible in real life and falls for a lot of other things. Hopefully some of them learn from their mistake or mistake of others and don't repeat it elsewhere...

this is indeed not a new scammer's way, everyone needs to be reminded of the events and how scammers carry out their illegal work.
a beginner there is a quick learner. but some feel crypto is a safe place. therefore scammers will always be there to find victims. I wouldn't say those who have been in the crypto market for a long time won't be exposed to scammers. but maybe the type or method of scammers will be more difficult to deceive experienced people.
I hope everyone will be careful with their assets. don't be easily fooled by offers that are very profitable in an easy way.

Scammers always have been one of the most creative people in industry. On one hand they did not invent nothing new, on the other, they adopt old tricks to modern situation. And I even think that some people even have special cells in brains, that tells them "to try how something work if they do things different way", and part of the scam are done after curiosity. But when curiosity and creativity meet greed and laziness, people lose money.

My best advice is do not visit any link through Youtube, some are not really legit links and a Youtube account might be hacked to lure people, I have visited Youtube most times only to detect that the Youtube video is tampered by hackers, there are more than one version of the video but the difference is original links swapped with fake links.

If you have some doubts just search for how to stake dodo or other token like pancake 🥞 swap you will see multiple videos with the same person in each video. Especially this face

People will have brain know giveaway is literally 100% free without any deposit lol, so if there's a people get scammed just because of this, they're really careless and I believe they will get a good lesson after it was happen.

Verified accounts are useless nowadays, actually it could be a conspiracy where the popular people are trying to scam, but he will create a drama if his account were hacked! No one will realize it and he has no way to know the person who own the address.

I think you give them more credit than they deserve. Most often it's a single scammer creating a new way to scam people, and then everyone else just copies it, and the cycle repeats every time new technology appears or just someone finds a new way to scam people. And most often it's not hard to recognize a scammer if you have more than 5 brain cells.

Looking at the website alone gave me a weird feeling and I'm sure others felt that too. I see no reason why someone will be willing to just give out free crypto most especially in this present market state and the funny part is that they will request that you make a certain deposit amount into their wallet address claiming that it's for gas fee. 😂

The gas fee scheme has been used on newbies and it seems to have been effective. Aside from newbies falling for this type of lame scam I think some other members who are quiet acquitted with crypto still fall for them due to them allowing greed to take over.
Most people seems to lose their sense of thinking whenever they see free money or other valuable belongings, at that point in time all they can think of is ways to get it without bothering about knowing on "how will this company/person be able to generate this amount of money?'

I believe the issue isn't that scammers are smart and use elaborate schemes (or whatever using too much brain means) but that humans on average don't possess the necessary knowledge to deal with things like this. There used to be a time when the vast majority of the population couldn't write, read or count, and then the time when they knew only the very basic stuff taught within primary school education. Now, children are learning plenty of things, but are learning perhaps too much of some and not enough of others. In my country, economics is not always taught at schools at all, and when it is taught, it's usually very poor. Basic financial management and familiarity with popular scams should be taught at schools, so that everyone gets the basic knowledge about that. Another thing is a skill that should be encouraged way more at schools as well: critical thinking. Schools focus so much on teaching what is right and punishing wrong answers that is numbs the natural tendency to question things which children usually develop at some point. So when people grow up, they often don't question what they are told, just as they were taught at schools, and this leads to many problems, including falling for scams.

First thing is; if they want to victimize more people they need to level up their 'game'. Second is, many people are easily fooled by the idea of a "shirtcut to becoming rich".In reality, there are no such thing as 'easy money'; you have to work hard for it. Many people are falling for the same scheme ; send an amount to this address and get a reward. This still works because people does not think of why do platforms give something to people? Are they that generous? Sometimes it is our way of thinking which endangers us.
That is simply it. Always think as much as possible;, if something's sounding unrealistic why not avoid it or study for it to determine your asset's safety? than to just go with the impression that there is a way to win big time in this industry.

The harsh truth, but it's the truth, these scams are too obvious, and it can be said that all mistakes come from lazy greedy people who don't want to do but want to have money. I never blame the creators of scams, I will blame all the greedy people who just want free money. As you said, if we are not greedy and make money with our own strength, these scams will soon disappear. As long as human greed persists, these scams will never go away.

I've noticed that whenever there is a cash transaction, scammers are nearby. Another thing I've noticed about scammers is that they constantly come up with new ways to con people, and despite the warnings given, many will still fall for their schemes. They particularly like to use social media to lure victims, constantly boasting about the investments they have made profits from, among other tactics.

Just report them as a scam. YouTube needs better safeguards in place as these should never make it onto their platform but I've reported half a dozen over the past month or so and they get removed pretty quickly.

I think the OP wanted to point out that scammers are often very intelligent, rather than exposing the scam scheme here.
I have to agree with him because I have seen very sophisticated ways of fraud, which required good detailed planning, and excellent communication skills. so I wonder why they don't use all that knowledge and skills for some legal jobs. why do they prefer to take other people's money fraudulently?

To be honest it's not a very sophisticated scam at all. It's the basic send us your money and we'll double it scam and I'm not sure how people fall for that. The most impressive thing is how they're gaming the YouTube algorithm to show up on people feed's and recommended videos consistently.

The victims are not also using their brains, this offer is very old, and if they only do research on this kind of scheme like checking Google about scam Cryptocurrency give away, so many people are greedy and gullible, especially those new in Cryptocurrency investing I hate blaming these newbies they don't deserve to get scammed they invest in Cryptocurrency in the hope of changing their lives, but end up getting scam.

I don't know if people in comments are quick to judge, have you never been scammed? In my early years in crypto, I was just as gullible and fall for several scams then eventually learned. I think it will be same for these people.

They already existed long before Cryptocurrency existed, in fact, they long existed long before the internet was conceptualized, scamming already exists since time immemorial, they thrive on the greed of people they made a business out of people believing what will bring them healthy wealth and fame, we cannot stop these scammers and they will continue to scam, but we can prevent ourselves from falling to their traps and this is by educating ourselves and controlling our greed and knowing how to do research on the personality of people who offer you products, services, and profits that are good to be true.

Perhaps because it is basic fundamental to us that no one will double our money. These individuals do not require online investments from strangers if they wish to give money. Anyhow, I tried it once before to be honest, it was during my first year in crypto. Because I was curious. It was a small sum, comparable to my usual wagers on casinos. Also, it was not a doubler, which was pretty obvious; it was somewhere between one and two percent per day. I was also trying to figure out crypto mining at that point.

The more technology evolve the more scammers became more adopted to the technology and they frequently do some good updates so that they can deceive people to their new methods created. Although there are still classics scam still became successful so new investors should be aware about this and also always think about that if the profit is so big while your investment is small that is a big red flag.

I don't want to make rebuttal, because I think you are right on this point. The more sophisticated the technology, the smarter the scammers. Basically scammers are smart people, but they don't use their intelligence to get money properly.

There are still too many people who are greedy, so they will do anything to get money the easy way without thinking too much about the risks. So there will always be scammers and their victims.
