I don't have experience in altcoins, but I have quite an interest in investing in altcoins, but when I hear the news that investing in altcoins is very dangerous because the potential for losses is so big, but I found out on the internet, it turns out that we can invest in altcoins as long as the in quality altcoins,
and finally I saw on cmc that the number 1 altcoin is ethereum, and finally I'm quite interested if I have the capital to want to invest in ethereum.

Ethereum is a No. 1 altcoin but that project had a big change to switch from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake.

Its network now is very centralized and with centralization, transactions can be censored. It is not good with the possibility of censorship, manipulation from centralized investors or groups of investor.

Instead of you confused about which altcoin is potential, which will be difficult to find, even though it is ethereum, you better invest in bitcoin using DCA. Maybe ethereum has a good future because it is still no. 1 in altcoins but everything can change when there is a new technology that can compete with ethereum and of course, the other coin can replace the ethereum position.

Indeed right, investing in altcoins is risky (even Bitcoin) but have you wondered why people are still investing in them? It is because they know it was not really dangerous when you are doing it personally. All of these are presumptions from a person who is mentally affected by their losses due to investing the wrong coins. They're not wrong, altcoins are risky because most of them are new scammy projects. There are old ones, but the profits you'd get aren't as big compared to investing in a completely new project that will grow.

For ETH, I wouldn't really guarantee that it has a good future, any project has really if you think about it. Comparing it to other altcoins though, it has better chances of standing in the future as a big name (if it isn't already is) among cryptos. I myself have kept a part of my portfolio recently into ETH. If you're debating, then going for a DCA method isn't that wrong, especially if we consider how the prospects of ETH is better than other new altcoins out there.

I say ethereum is the queen of the king of bitcoin and for the future ethereum doesn't need to be doubted anymore after you can research ethereum's track record long ago. ETH has always had great potential and future when buying at a bearish time and holding on until a bullish party arrives.

Even though i am also just a normal dude with no inside knowledge about cryptocurrency in general and also not about Ethereum, i will try to answer your questions. I think Ethereum definitely has a good future, next to bitcoin it is by far the most popular and also the biggest crypto project out there and if Ethereum should really fail, then 99% of the other altcoins will probably die way before that.
ETH is the number 1 altcoin because they invented the whole smart contract functionality. Without that feature we would not have stuff like tokens, NFT's, Defi, Dexes, Yiel farms and other stuff today. All those other platforms like (Solana, Cardano) are basically just copying what Ethereum has invented.

Safe than any other altcoins but I would tell you also that it will depend on how manage it. Because many people lost their money from investing in this and that possibly happens to you also if you are too careless with your decision. But if you can make it so well, earning a huge profit is not impossible.
I would say that - don't look on the negative side but rather ignore them. ETH has been in the market for so long and it shows a satisfying performance that is why people never give up from investing this even during the dip.

Nobody knows if eth has a good future. It did fine so far but we can't know the future for sure. Litecoin used to be #2 coin too. Look where it is now. The very same thing very well may happen to eth in the future. It is less likely but not impossible. Another example is ripple. It used to be the #2 coin on coinmarketcap. People thought it is the next big thing. Then it was revealed that it wasn't more than a centralized scam.

No it's not! The thing is wrong is if you invest all your money in this. [ never put all your eggs in one basket ] You need to have some part of your investment in bitcoin and some in other large cap as well.

Its transaction fee is very high compared to other L1 blockchains (which will be fixed according to the team but for now it is its drawback)

I do believe that it's one of the best out there right now. I know not many people believe this but it is definitely the best altcoin for me. It is obvious that many people think the same way as well because it is the second biggest coin ever, only after bitcoin itself and if people didn't think that it's the best coin then it wouldn't be able to go there at all.

This is why it should have been so important to have some on your portfolio and I can definitely say that I trust it to be safe. This is of course my understanding and if we are talking about being safe or not, you can't possibly know and maybe I could be wrong about it and it's not, but I do trust it.

I think this is still quite safe, Ethereum is one of the alt that is quite good in my opinion compared to other altcoins, Ethereum is clearly better in terms of investment but if it relates to the election there is bitcoin there I suggest to be in bitcoin but if you really want to be in altcoins then indeed Ethereum is definitely not something wrong and you should be there if you want altcoins.

Relatively speaking in terms of crypto yeah its pretty safe but no crypto is safe for certain.  We've all seen what happens to even the "safest" of projects or businesses, they can collapse in a moments notice.  As the story goes don't put in more than you are willing to lose.

ethereum is considered really safe for investment, usually investment companies that invests in cryptocurrencies always consider ethereum for their investments with considering all the risk management meaning ethereum is relatively safe enough. there's certainly reason why eth is no.1 altcoin that's because it was the one that started smart contract trend and there's so many tokens that are good quality ones in eth blockchain.

I think those coins that collapsing are quite different with eth, luna is coin released by certain foundation meanwhile ftt is utility coin released by ftx exchanges so I think it couldn't be compared even though indeed there's always risk of collapsing but with eth it's gonna be different. you see luna crash also because of its ust coin.

If you will invest in Ethereum for short term, the chances of you getting profit especially right now might be low but in the long run, if you will hold Ethereum then you will surely get profits. Safer in comparison with other cryptocurrencies in this industry but won't give the assurance that loss would be avoided. Its market value still is also volatile just like the others but atleast it would give you a bigger chance to avoid huge losses, as an investment or asset. You won't build an experience if you will just stare there. And you said you have a burning interest on the altcoins? So, why would you limit yourself. I think that's no different from torturing yourself. Forget about the news you hear about how bad the altcoins are, as you know that it's not true because altcoins are not a single coin but it's only just a name or categorization of a crypto.

Altcoins are actually composed of different cryptos and there must be a few of them (if not most) who are legit. But for ETH. I think I have a mix feeling about this alt. Sure it's old and currently number one in the altcoin category but this have some anomalies, I think that's because it's more of a centralized coin. Maybe you can only invest small on it and then find a better altcoin, preferably decentralized and not totally new.

That's true, it is one of the best coins out there in the world right now and people should be glad to hold it if they have any. The problem for me is not having enough money to buy even more, I don't care about the increase we had now, I want to buy more, I did when it was lower, I did when it was higher and I would now too.

So, when you feel like you are not sure what you should do, if you should buy more or not, remember that there are people like me who would buy ETH right away as soon as they get some money, and they can't because we lack the funds for it, and if you do have any funds to buy ETH and not doing that, you are not giving it enough justice.

After the ETH Blockchain V2.0 update from the POS to the POW I am not sure about the future of ETH let me present a small analysis of ETH as when ETH was on POW it was a deflationary coin and the future was bright with that model i know the about gass issues but Layer solution was working good on ETH but after POS update i am not even sure 1% about how it still stands as a deflationary coin. So investment in somebodies advice is not at all satisfactory.

I think Ethereum is definitely one of the altcoins worth investing in. In the past, I did not find it right to invest in any coin other than Bitcoin for the long term, but when I saw the thousands of developers working on Ethereum and some of the needs of the industry, I understood that it is definitely a valuable asset. Eth is safe but not more then bitcoin so you need to put at least 50% of your investment in bitcoin then see other alts because your portfolio safety is more important then its growth .

POS isn't really tested out yet on such a big scale. And new tokemonics could bring results we haven't really calculated. There could be new exploits bringing it down.

if eth as second biggest coin could be collapsing then I think the cryptocurrency market will be shaken hugely, the only thing holding eth back might be the fact that it's over supply and even like that there's mechanism that gonna reduce its total supply.
I think eth is definitely safest choice in term of investing in altcoins, mainly because the fact that it's first ranked altcoin.

From all indications, Ethereum has proved itself more instrumental in the development of this industry than any other altcoin. I even maintain that if not that Bitcoin is the pathfinder in this game and has got a very strong fan base, ETH would've taken the trophy from it a long time ago. Just look at the Ethereum smart contract which it started before others and tell me why anyone wouldn't want to invest in ETH. Ethereum is the queen coin while Bitcoin is the king. But we know that a centralized coin isn't that good enough because there is always a risk of manipulation just like the one you've mentioned and investors won't be attracted by such even if Ethereum is labeled as the #1 Altcoin, and I for one, rooting for the Ethereum to be fully decentralized this year or next year. Aside from ETH, there's this another altcoin that has been running in a decentralized ecosystem which also belongs in my portfolio, it's BNB. OP can do some more research besides ETH.

They are noob, they have not tested any coins and it may have happened that they are very very new in the whole crypto process. Altcoins are always surprising to us and as bitcointalks follower I have already seen peeps getting looted in the name of good project for alts. I'd be surprised if ethereum as second most valued coin isn't even considered safe then I guess all cryptocurrencies investment is essentially gambling, the thing is there's reason why ethereum is considered safe mainly because it's too big to fail, it's unlike other alts in general that have some measly valuation, ethereum is valued so high that I don't think it will ever be valueless. I think you shouldn't doubt about investing in ethereum because it's just that good, the only thing holding it back is the fact that it hasn't even solved its gas fee problems until now which could be the reason that it's gonna be overtaken by other similar smart contract eventually.

basic rules of thumb should be you are allocating majority of your investments in btc and eth then some other coins after that. then you're gonna get relatively low risk investment portfolio in your arsenal and shouldn't worry about losing most of your money when some alts collapses. so that for long term you could get more benefits out of your investments since alts in general only suited for short term.

Number 1 because of the price or its features? imo it lacks the features needed to be a main stay in cryptocurrencies. Btc has the best features and Monero probably has the next best because their features are for a different type of person that btc cannot offer. Everything that eth offers can be achieved with btc and will probably be in its shadow forever.
