This one. Is this really worth a topic (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435456.0)?

I think the question you should be asking yourself is, would this topic have been made if libert19 was not in a signature campaign?

I think this topic should be locked.
Nothing much over here to discussed about or you can enhance it the more by adding valuable content over here before including this topic.
Btw, whichever link is much appreciated in as much as is visible and clickable by me, I don't mind any of it.

What makes your post to be good is the content, not the link but I always prefer to use the fourth one. If people can read some information in the link, I may leave the link as in the number 1.

Meh, if you check my sign campaign rules, that topic doesn't count.

@LoyceV I was creating this topic, was looking for grimace emoji, that wasn't there so felt like asking about it.

I stand corrected! I apologize for the insinuation.

What is going on your head? This topic was first, then you have another one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435456.0), then another one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435500.0)!

Exactly, these ideas popped up in my mind so here we are.

Not really worth a topic tbh, but from the point of view of readability, this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435453.msg61609548#msg61609548) variant is certainly the best.

However, since some users try to hide malicious websites and files in their links, the clear link is probably the safest option (I would go with the naked one then).

So it's Merit you're looking for?

Don't be too harsh on him, it's not the worst topic posted on Meta lately.  :P

/edit: Just saw his other topics. Lock this shit.

Why do you feel that this thread has no content and as such be locked?
How do you mean by there is nothing much to discuss unless the thread be edited and more contents be added. Do you see lengthy topics as valuable than non lengthy ones?

This is a simple poll created and with the response gotten here, people that are in the habit of dropping this kind of  links  (https://www.google.com) will stop because I hardly click it unless from a trusted user, else I'll first try to quote it to reveal the url.

So, this topic is worth it, just like the topic asking how many bitcointalk users real name you know.

I also support the OP. Links are dangerous nowadays, and no one can be sure that clicking on a hidden link will not get them into some kind of bizarre story. I always check the links that users provide on the forum, either by quoting them so that the link becomes visible or by opening it in another browser that is not associated with the forum.
By the way, just today there was a discussion about how you can steal browser passwords by clicking on a fake link. Is everyone sure where they clicked? :)

Lol  ;D OP must be spending some boring winter evening, instead of playing cards he is playing with the forum by creating topics with a question one by one.

Here is another topic by OP - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435456.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435456.0)

I gave you an answer OP  ;)

When talking about convenience when read, the type of link is No. 2 is my favourite. But the drawback is that we have to scroll down the page first to see the link that contains the reference.

But ironically I am more comfortable with the no. 4 if I were in the author's position. because maybe I'm used to it.
However when I became a reader I was most wary of these hidden type links (4). because well I have to check the contents of the link first. before actually clicking on it.

It depends upon how I am going to insert the link. When I am going to insert the link as reference, it looks fancy and reliable to see the whole URL especially, if I will get it in other website.

When it comes to mentioning names or topic here in bitcointalk, I think it is better if we use the hidden url tag especially if we are using the link inside of the forum, they are all quiet similar with each other.
Just like this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5434579.0

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5433658.0

It is more catchy to use hidden url tag. Since you know what you are clicking on.

It could be a idea for admins to implement link 'unwrapping' - now on mouseover you may see the target URL somewhere in the browser window, but I think it would be not very difficult to add a tip next to mouse cursor (like it is for buttons in "post reply" editor)

It took me few moments to realize what exacttly you're asking for. Usually I make most of my posts using phone, so, I mostly post naked links. Simply because it's not very convenient to post it in other ways. Though, I must admit that even when I'm on PC, I post naked links without hidden url links because I'm just lazy...
When it comes to reading, for me most convenient is hidden url links. Though, it have one downside that you don't know what's is behind it without clicking or quoting it.
When it comes to [1], when I see it used on Bitcointalk I feel like reading Wikipedia or some scientific article from university.
