Title: Is there a chrome extension to receive forum notifications?
Post by: yhiaali3 on January 26, 2023, 10:40:36 AM
As in the title, is there a chrome extension to receive forum notifications?

I do not know if there is such an add-on or not, of course I know that there is a bot on Telegram to receive notifications and I have been using it for a long time, but I need to know if there is an add-on for Chrome or Firefox browsers to receive notifications instead of the Telegram bot.

I think such an add-on would be very useful, so I hope someone has information about the possibility of such an add-on in the forum to help me find it.

As far as I know, there is no such add-on for any browser, and even if there were, I personally would not use it because I avoid any unnecessary add-ons in the browser. As you wrote yourself, there is a Telegram bot, and you can also receive notifications on your e-mail (at least as far as private messages are concerned).

However, if that accessory means so much to you, you can order it from @mprep because he offers such accessories, among other things -> mprep's Web & Desktop Software Development Services (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5383794.0)

There is no chrome extension to receive notification, I have been using the telegram notification bot and it is very good and I make the links on of the telegram notification to be directly accessed by the browser when I click on it.

You can try LoyceV notification bot too [new topic] LoyceV's notification bot (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5331343.msg56809456#msg56809456)

Thank you all

I haven't tried LoyceV's notification bot yet
I'm using the SuperNotifier "V2" bot found in this thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248878.0

The bot works well and gives very good results, but I work on a laptop and use the Google Chrome browser. I installed Telegram (Windows desktop version) so that I receive notifications immediately instead of a mobile.

But I always have to open Telegram to receive notifications, so I thought that installing the Google Chrome extension would be easier.

The only extension I used was TryNinja's personal note. It was good but then when I started to have issue with cloudflare I had to reset the entire browser. With the reset I realized all notes were wiped. I did not find any interest to use the extension anymore. Extensions are fine as long as you do not need to change the browser or reset it.

Come on theymos, we need an upgrade.

Can you not rely on telegram notifications in browser? I'd assume chrome or Edge will deliver the best results for this (ie they might be able to give you a popup too).

There's a way to access telegram over the Web where you scan a qr code and log in that way.

So far I don't find any extensions for bitcointalk that sends a notification. If someone develops an extension like that, this would be great to have on my browser. Actually, I searched for these kinds of software, and now I am convinced that there is none.

I am also aware of telegram bot but I don't spend time on telegram and I keep my telegram notifications turned off. I just use the email notification for a long time and now I adopted this style of getting notified.

Pop Up and chrome notifications are very popular now if you are a subscriber of one's site, the community is divided on this unless we have one we can see if the notifications will be accepted by the majority of the forum members, the closest that we can get it is to click the box on the discussion if there is a new reply, but the notifications will only arrive on our email, this is a default setting of all SMF forum software.

I have the Telegram addon for Firefox and it works perfect when i get notifications when i got mentioned without any problems.
If you read the notification on your webbrowser addon it will be marked as readed on your phone aslo.
Sometimes i get scared when the Ding tone comes up , but you can turn it off.

Don't you have notifications enabled on your telegram? With those enabled, it'd work good as what you are asking in op.

If someone feels generous, you could revive @hatshepsut93's push notification bot. Strange no one has mentioned it.

I have installed the notification bot too on my windows 10 and I get pop up a notification whenever I am mentioned on bitcointalk so it maybe something related to your app setting, I will check my setting and let you know if there is any changes to be made for running the application in background.

Why do you need additional notification tools or bot while you can turn notify me functions on the forum subtopics you want. You can do that to all the board you wanted, if someone post a new topic it will automatically pop to your email and then you can click directly from the link to take you directly to what the topic is saying.

Below shows how you can enable it

https://i.ibb.co/8dGX38v/notify.png (https://ibb.co/Nmf7hYD)

At this points you get all notifications about any topic created in this sections to email, you can also apply same thing other board as well.

What is a kind of notification you want to get?

There are some forum members and teams develop some extensions, userscripts, Telegram bots, so let's find what match your need.

  • [β] BPIP Extension: user info & extra features add-on/extension, Firefox/Chrome (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5224821.0)
  • [TELEGRAM BOT] Merit, Trust List, etc. [INFORMATION] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5224339.0)
  • [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248878.0)
  • [TelegramBot] Merit watcher and Mention Notification Bot (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5209107.0)
  • [RELEASED] @mention notification bot - now with Telegram (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5023605)

Did you try with this way and working yet? I want to get easy notification way when some one mention or replay with my quote to make another feedback due respect with my post have got respond. I check manually with my post and some one quote or mention my name and seems not effective because I miss many time when my friend or other user mention my name.

Thanks seems simple way with your notification, there are not have to download any chrome extension to know about notification, I will apply right now and see how effective with this notify when some one quote or called my name in this forum.

I am using this one telegram bot to receive notification, its working fine since then till now.
I almost don't even miss/ ignored anyone when someone quotes my writing or mention me in their post because I will definitely read it one by one. Although sometimes I can get it the next day but the fact is this notification bot is very helpful than having to check every post history to know who is quoting.

Are you sure this bot is working? I tried it but it doesn't give anything.
This link is not working also gives an error : https://bct-quote-notifier.herokuapp.com

Yes I use:
BPIP Extension
This Chrome extension is useful for knowing merits, profiles, sending messages, and many other good things, but it does not give the required notifications.

I also use:
Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT
This is a very good telegram bot, but I want a chrome extension that gives me all the notifications I need.

Can you tell me what classification of notifications you want to get from the extension?

Instead of expecting notification extension then I think you can use telegram web or maybe also telegram extension for crhome. You don't need to access Telegram to get notification, but you only need to activate the notification on the site information. It just depends on your preference.

Now for any thread or topic that you commented before submitting the post there are more options at the bottom left hand side that says "additional Options" which you will find something like ( notify me of replies, return to this topic, don't use smileys). Click on notify me of replies you will get notified when someone replies to this particular thread, however this doesn't notify you when your name is being mentioned in a thread rather it will only notify you when a thread is created and when a topic is posted as well as when your post are being quoted. This reduce my stress of going through post manually.

OP seems to be a fan of a Google extension or add-on. I always try to avoid utilizing extensions since I don't like having my online activities tracked. Since there are no other options, Metamask is being used exclusively. The better alternative, though, is a notification bot. Theymos won't likely create a Google extension, in my opinion. Many helpful developments are still pending.

What metamask got to do here?

I’ve been wanting to have an add-on notification on my browser so that I’ll get notified when someone mentions me, received merit and be notified who replies - with this I used telegram bot “BitcoinTalk SuperNotifier V2” which helps me a lot managing my account.

Having this tools will help you here in the forum. I suggest you use telegram on pc and just enable the notifications.

Consider that The Cryptovator is manager: Legendary - Campaign Management Service by The Cryptovator (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5201844.0) - Metamask is the only extension he uses to his management needs. It's not as tool to receive notification, but as one of the extensions he uses. I guess he just wanted to say that.
