With the state of trust on discord I was wondering what everyone thinks the best platform for online communities currently is?

It depends on the type of online community, what features and functionalities you are looking for, and a bunch of other factors. There is no one shoe fits all. How about Reddit, Slack, or forums like bitcointalk?

State of trust? That's currently good, right? Or have i missed some news?

Anyway, i technically enjoy telegram and it's sleek and very irc-like. But it suits better for smaller groups. Soon those groups often blow up and get too confusing and big to moderate. Binance telegram is a good example of confusing and too hectic telegram group. They are too hard to follow or moderate.

I personally haven't found a better free place for community to talk then Discord. You can compartmentalize conversations and organize information easily. It's already widely adopted so you don't need people to install yet another program to chat with each other. Important links, news and everything else stays neatly organized and i don't know if any free program even does such a good job at creating communities.

Okay thanks. Personally I am a fan of discord as well but I have found that many people are hesitant to click discord links when it comes to joining new groups

You can get much information through our forum. According to me, it is the much trusted source for the communities. Apart from this you can explore things through reddit. There are trusted service providers through telegram groups and YouTube. I've been following few YouTube channels and have seperate telegram group connected to the channel for discussion. This makes way for discussion based on the contents broadcasted.

Those phishing links spammed by a lot of scammers that even discord moderators couldn't delete? Yes I've read of those. Some people did lose money on that which is why I understand your concern. The problem is that those scam links are present in almost every social media platform. Scammers can slide into your DMs or in a chat group.

Maybe check out Slack as well.

Do you mean the link to join a group or the link spam that spread out when joining a new group?

Discord and Telegram are known as popular places for cryptocurrency group applications, both applications suffer the same fate, which is, filled with a scammer who tries to deceive all of the people. Specifically in regard to the communities, if the participant is wary and has discomfort toward any particular application, then simply raises a new issue to migrate into something better. One of the alternatives I know is Matrix. So, it is up to the community whether it is worth it to migrate or not.

Having used many different platforms in the past, I can conclude that it really depends on the demographics you wish to cater to. The most valued are community built around specific topics such as game communities and tech communities. I have found that the most engaging platforms are those that allow for both real-time and asynchronous communication, such as Discord and Reddit. Social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are great for building brand awareness and reaching a wide range of people.

If it seems a spam link that you'll just post out trying to join people, it is not going to work because that's going to be looking suspicious. That's why if you want to grow your community, you need to be genuine with what you're trying to do with your community.
It's not just all about the platform or whatnot but it's about the community that you're building because if you become establish, you can simply just go anywhere and your community is going to come with you.

Telegram or Twitter. Definitely not Discord. Twitter is now number one in terms of project promotion. Many people analyze projects based on Twitter and its statistics regarding followers and mentions. At the same time, most of the popular chats on cryptocurrencies in telegram and it is convenient to communicate there, there are no restrictions, like, for example, in twitter. Telegram began to actively implement innovations that will also affect the growth of the number of crypto users, such as the creation of separate chats within telegram groups.

Telegram it's more easily compared to discord.

People in crypto more prefer in "Telegram" rather than discord from my perspective "Discord" it's more suitable to build a product information since there a lot things can be setup on there.

Meanwhile, Telegram are easily for discussion and community. I prefer Telegram.

Probably because of some issues with discord as it being targeted by scam group and fake projects, well this is also available in other platform but I prefer more to use telegram since its more easy to access and very convenient for me. Many are also into this platform because its one of the requirements to qualify for the bounty and the developer are actively updating on Telegram as well so it can be your good option.

As many said it's Telegram because it has a very simple feature to use but when it comes to trust it seems this Telegram is over-run with scammers, phishing attacks, and even fake bots, in short, they are a house of all of these bad actors.

I'm in favor of Discord here, it's designed neatly which is all features that you want was there and can have a healthier community.
However, how about you can choose both of them?

Bitcointalk forum is the best source for news and informations regards crypto universe, because it's not solely composed by shillers of determined crypto projects and services. By being here, you aren't inside a bubble where everyone agrees with each other all the time, what could potentially put you under risk of being encouraged to dangerous investments, what is a common practice in closed centralized groups where the admin bans or censors anyone who starts talking stuff which are going against their interests.

also, there are many users here who work on busting potential scam projects . just look at the scam accusations board and you will understand this aspect.
and besides, whatever social media channel you go into, there will always be scammers so don't ever think that there is special socmed that people are all legit and honest.
