Title: [ASK] My account is blocked
Post by: Olimpchange on February 23, 2023, 12:45:17 PM
Hello!
I registered an account (Hello******hey), after logging into my account I saw a notification: "You have been manually whitelisted by a moderator. If you couldn't before, you can now post normally. Various limits have also been reduced (but not eliminated)."
Please explain the reason for blocking. I didn't even have time to do anything from that account.

The message doesn't mean your account has been blocked. As the message clearly says, not only your account hasn't been blocked, but some restrictions have been lifted and you should be thankful to the moderator who whitelisted you freely.

You are automatically whitelisted if you buy a copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote). You don't need to wear the copper membership, just own it. You can also be whitelisted for free by any staff member and a few non-staff, but we're going to need some reason to think that you actually deserve it. Do not ask me for free whitelisting..

I apologize. The wrong notification was inserted.
After registering the account (Hi******ey), a notification was sent: "(Hi******ey), you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
You have been permanently banned by a forum moderator, probably due to spam or plagiarism. You may appeal here, but your chances are not good: banappeals...@bitcointalk.org".
Please check what is the matter.

Write your account nickname or provide a link to your blocked account. There are no clairvoyants here.

looks like you have a banned account, then tried to create a new account but was restricted by evil IP. Next, you asked for whitelisting. I guess your flow is like this.

About your banned account, reason is either spam or plagiarism or both of them. If it is spam, you can make ban appeal. If it is plagiarism, you can make it too but chance to be given a second chance for plagiarism is very slim.
There's been no policy change. redsn0w wasn't permanently banned due to several factors which made me think that permabanning him would be a net negative for the forum. Nobody is banned strictly because of "the rules"; it's always handled case-by-case, but almost always, plagiarists deserve to be permabanned.

If you think that a ban should be ended, make your case in a new topic from a "good for the forum as a whole" perspective.

Staff do not want to hand out bans for unconstructive posts but if we feel that you as a user are continually making very poor or unsubstantial posts due to your paid signature the following bans will be issued:

First offence: 7 days
Second offence: 14 days
Third offence: 30 days
Fourth: Permanent ban

Your first ban is your first warning. If you have to be banned for a fourth time it is permanent and you will no longer be allowed to participate on the forum under any accounts. Note: If you are banned on one account then you are not allowed to post under any accounts you own for the duration of your ban. The only exception to this rule is Meta where you can discuss the circumstances of your ban if you wish to do so but anywhere outside of that sub will be considered ban evasion and will get your ban doubled, but it is generally best to just patiently wait out your ban and improve your posts on return and hopefully no further bans will be needed.

Warning: Anyone caught copying other users' posts or plagiarising content from elsewhere on the web will be immediately permabanned. You shouldn't need a warning to know that this isn't acceptable under any circumstances.

If reason is spam, you should be banned a few times before, perhaps up to 3 times.
If it is plagiarism, you can be banned immediately.

  • Plagiarism: If you copy some text from somewhere, then you should have a good reason for it, and you must link to the source. Doing otherwise is plagiarism. Changing a few words around doesn't matter. If we find that you plagiarized, then you absolutely will be permanently banned, even if we find it years after you did it.

The  forum rules (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.msg7955645#msg7955645) clearly states that plagiarism is prohibited. I think that could be the reason for your ban, you should reference your original account so the moderators can confirm if truly this was a case of plagiarism or mistake. Meanwhile you shouldn’t post anywhere else aside from this thread, if you do it will be tagged as ban evasion. Good luck!

25. Ban evasion (using or creating accounts while one of your accounts is banned) is not allowed. If you get banned (temporarily or permanently) and create a new account to continue posting / sending PMs, it's considered ban evasion. The only exception is creating a thread in Meta about your ban.

33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed. This includes both copying parts or the entirety of other users' posts or threads and copying content from external sources (e.g. other websites) and passing it as your own.[e]

I think it was this user, Hill.money (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3534725).
If you will visit OP's post history, you'll see an post  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5436594.msg61646994#msg61646994) identical with the one that can be seen from the archived you mentioned. They just changed the name, website, and email addresses.
Also that account was the most recently created account from the list you provided. AND, the last log-in time is extremely close to the OP's time of posting.

If this is indeed the account the author of the topic mentions, he was banned for plagiarism.

Copy:

To a moderator, two different accounts are two different people, unless proven otherwise.

For the author of the topic. Next time you create a topic from your alt, make a note that the copied text belongs to the same person.

That would mean it's spam, because posting the same thing again isn't allowed either :D

Also, worth mentioning, the olimpchange(.)com domain mentioned in the OP's post actually redirects to the hill(.)money domain from the deleted post of a user who got banned. It seems pretty clear that both accounts are being managed by the same person who's trying to promote their shady exchange site on this forum. Definitely something to look out for.

Do all these belong to a single individual? What's the big idea of account farming in this way! I never really get it in recent times when we've got the merit system to put a check on growth. Common on @OP, this isn't so pleasing for the eyes if these are all you. It might not be an offence that could attract the ban penalty but, such farm isn't what we like to see on the forum.

As for your ban account @OP, the reason is clearly started to be plagiarism related. You don't need no explanation other than that. You might as well check your post for the plagiarised content and be at peace with the judgement. Its a new account and that won't hurt so much for one who is comfortable operating an account farm.

From what I understand so far, all those accounts listed by loyce does not belong to the same user he only just listed the account because Op refused to write the complete name of his banned account and it has been proven that the account Op is trying to hide is "Hill.money".

And if you check the creation date for some if the accounts you'll notice that most of them were banned more than two years ago and I'm not sure if there's anyone that'll be creating a thread because of an account that has was banned 3 years ago.

A few of those are proxy banned, i.e met the evil fee when registering, and never decided to pay. Hence, they haven't actually posted anything. A lot of our users are proxy banned, and therefore appear like they registered, and never posted.

Probably not, considering most are proxy banned, and they were registered at different times. I think they're just the usernames that could potentially match what the original poster obfuscated. Again, I'm not sure why you'd censor the username if you want it to get unbanned. If you wanted to do it privately, you'd just follow what the message says, and email the address.

That's right, our account - Hill.money
We explain the reason why some force majeure situations were forced to change the domain of the site. We would like to change the login and subject through this account (Olimpchange) But we were told that it is impossible to change the login. It is for this reason that we created a new account that corresponds to the domain of the site and tried to post the topic. We are ready to delete the old Olimpchange account and the topic, it is currently irrelevant. And so that you understand that there is no intention to create two identical themes. The reason for creating a new topic was explained above. We will be grateful for your assistance in unlocking the Hill.money account, Thank you for your understanding!

So that you have no doubts, after unlocking the Hill.money account, you can delete the topic from the Olimpchange account, or we can do it ourselves if our functionality allows us to do it.

Then why didn't you say so when you opened this topic? My suggestion: change the subject into something useful, like: "Unban request, I was banned for copying my own text", and give all information necessary in the first post of this topic. That's much more convenient than making Admins guess what it's about when you talk about being whitelisted.

This is the first time we have encountered such a situation. Therefore, unfortunately, they did not know how to do the right thing. We apologize for what happened. They wrote to that mail(banappeals...@bitcointalk.org ), which was indicated in the notification that our account was banned. We have not received a response.
We will be immensely grateful for your assistance in unblocking your account.

AFAIK, it may take forever to get a response from that email so create unban requesting thread as LoyceV said, and lock this thread because this discussion is now obsolete if you have a convincing reason then you may be unbanned by admin or global mod then you can create posts, creating a new account when one of your accounts is banned will result into the same thing again so-called permanent ban.
