Title: [Coinbase] Mind = blown...get those free satoshis.
Post by: Altoidnerd on March 28, 2014, 02:57:21 PM
I was buying on coinbase and I took note of the fact that there is no difference, rounded to the nearest US cent, between buying $126.18 worth of bitcoin two different ways.

Code:
.2411 BTC    $126.18

Hmmm I wondered.  Do the final digits change the price?

Code:
.24110499 BTC  $126.18

Coinbase does divide those coins for you.  In one case, it rounded my trailing digits up.

Now I am obsessed...hope you are too.  Have a nice life.

This might have something to do with this:

Anyone can confirm?

This could be why coinbase rounds it up - to avoid a tx fee.

On that note as an aside the insignificance of the final digits is still confronting me.

It reminds me of dedekind cuts.  If you can just hike up the last digits, you may as well enter all 9's.  Then then you might as well...dayom.
