what will happen to altcoins if btc price drops to 10 dollars?

My guess is that altcoins will also fall drastically and maybe some of them can't handle the impact so they will die (price plungest to zero) and cannot recover anymore but strong altcoins that are at the top can still hold on.

We don't know what the future awaits on BTC but many of us are still optimistic and we think it will only go up and hit more all time highs therefore I don't think 10 dollars for BTC is possible anymore. That is only possible when BTC was still new and the adoption for it was still low but we have gone a long way already. At the moment, we are now close to the Bitcoin halving event and that will have a positive impact on the price of BTC.

If bitcoin falls to $10, we cannot rule out the case that one of the altcoins will take its place and the other altcoins will become independent. It is also possible that in that case bitcoin will become similar to stablecoin. Therefore, I would not categorically state that if bitcoin falls to 10 dollars altcoins will die.

we are only talking theoretically here. because right now, that scenario is very far from happening. there's possibility that btc will indeed become obsolete in the future, and be replaced by a new one. we can't tell that yet. possibly that a new alt or new currency will be introduced to the humankind, who knows? but more then likely, a lot of alts already died at that point.

it is true that your explanation also makes sense, indeed if bitcoin goes to 10 dollars in my opinion it will also not be possible because the number of bitcoin adopters is very large.

Who cares? 99.9% of them are going to zero no matter what will happend to bitcoin because they are scams made only to collect founds from investor, do pump and dump shame.

The 10$ target for bitcoin is also a crazy idea. at that price 1 whale can buy every single coin and manipulate price as much as he wants (including pumping it back to 1 mln $).

You have the idea I guess. When the price of bitcoin goes on high during the bull run, alts do come with it, right? And if bitcoin goes $10 soon, the price of altcoins are gonna be cheaper than what it is right now. But here's the thing when bitcoin drops to $10, there will be a lot of people that will be quick to buy those cheapest bitcoins in the market ever. They've seen it not just once not just twice but many times that it has recovered from its dump and that's why it's not gonna be a matter of price if that happens especially for bitcoin and, I think that the same scene might be created for some few altcoins that's also known.

The price of all altcoins are in coordination with Bitcoin's price if it rise then altcoins also enhances but as Bitcoin goes in dip all other altcoin also face some situations. So according to this relation if bitcoin become down the  surely altcoins will accommodate this changes in price but those tokens which have already lower price will become more in dip so as bitcoin reduces 10 dollars then already reduce tokens will completely loss their value and now it will be very difficult for those coins to return back to its original position.

In my opinion, if the bitcoin price drops to 10 dollars, of course that will be bad news for altcoins, because of course you can also imagine if that situation happened.
because like this, for example, if bitcoin drops by 5%, sometimes altcoins can go down by up to 17%. so if that happens, the altcoin price will definitely be destroyed.

I don't see this happening but if BTC price drops to $10 most of the Altcoins in the space would die naturally because they will be trading at Zero and the liquidity would dry out. Markt marker would suffer the most losses. BTC price currently is $25k and Ethereum is $1,600 so do the math, if BTC drops to $10 then Ethereum Ethereum would likely trade at $0.6 or less, so at what price would most of these Altcoins trade, Zero.

the worst case scenario is that the price of altcoins will be greatly crushed, and as far as I'm concerned none of the altcoins have their own price control, all depend on bitcoin so even if you are an altcoin investor, you also have to invest in bitcoin.

In short, this whole experiment will be over if that happens.  I mean I'm sure bitcoincan fail and other projects continue on but in the near future I can't see that happening.  If people lose faith in bitcoin then I can't see why they wouldn't lose faith in all of crypto.  Can other projects thrive, yes they can but bitcoin at $10 would upend any progress crypto has make in the last 10-15 years.

There will be no altcoins anymore if Bitcoin reach that price, imagine the dominance of Bitcoin over this market, that could also mean cryptocurrency are set to failed if Bitcoin goes to that level. Let’s not overthink here because this will never happen again, the public is already aware about the importance of cryptocurrency and they are slowly adopting, let’s be more worry about the mass adoption, let’s hope that it can happen soon.

certainly majority of altcoins gonna turns zero, bitcoin drops to 10$ is basically a doomsday it's easy to say that the whole market is done for, many that invested are turning bankrupt and it will start crisis i think, but one most important thing is that majority of altcoins are just gonna outright lost their value because many are panicking and massive selling gonna be occurring and at such event, altcoins usually gonna become the first target of massive selling.

Altcoins will not survive, simple as that because that can be a worst market and a big crisis for sure and maybe many people will also not survive out of that crisis. Bitcoin should remain strong and remain the standard of cryptomarket, let’s not overthink for this and see Bitcoin as one of the best currency today that we should value more. Looking forward for the next five years of Bitcoin, I’m sure it will be a great market again.

isn't it obvious even at the slightest correction altcoins already losing so much of its value, you think if btc drops below $10 alts will be unscathed that's certainly not the case with this, $10 means all the funds are going out of the whole market, you will expect massive collapses of many investment company and majority of altcoins which also holds reserve in form of bitcoin, turning into dust and cease to exist basically vanish into oblivion.

for bitcoin to dump that low means people lose hope and trust to crypto so what would other fate are you asking here mate because it is obvious that by then crypto is dying and that is the beginning of the end for cryptocurrencies .
I am not sure about all altcoins but for sure even top altcoins will fall so bad if not to die.

In bear market, altcoins usually lose more than 90% or 99.9% of their highest prices in previous bull market. If a market has a day when Bitcoin drops to $10, more than 90% of altcoins will die.

Even in better market, in normal bear market, there are thousand of altcoins die each year.

if that crisis happened maybe you are correct that every altcoin will fall hard or if not died because the bottom line here is that Bitcoin is the basis of all cryptocurrency to move one , if it falls we see market reddish and if grows then the market greenish , so how come that it will not happened to any altcoins once the price drops that badly.

Altcoin will follow the direction of the bitcoin movement. And if BTC drops to $10, there will be a lot of altcoins that can't survive and it's probably a massive purge that could happen in the market. And only the altcoins that can provide benefits will survive in that situation while the others will disappear from the list of coins on the exchange.

But it will bring a huge riot in the market because many people can't bear to see that happen and may choose to sell their bitcoins quickly to save their assets. This time, they wouldn't have thought that bitcoin could bounce back and break even higher. And hopefully, that will never happen in the future.

Additionally, if the altcoins stay afloat, they may be under bitcoin in price, and may be under $1 or even far below. the worst condition is that many altcoin projects have gone bankrupt and maybe only a few altcoins have survived, that's because many holders might sell their assets when the price hasn't gotten very low. Anything can happen, but I still firmly believe that bitcoin will have a higher price than its current price in the future.

Some altcoins stand on their own, they don't rely on Bitcoin, so if Bitcoin crashed down to 10$ there will surely be some turmoil but Ethereum will switch over to the 1st on coingecko and CMC, many altcoins including Ethereum will lose their value but the strong ones will be cut off from Bitcoin and Bitcoin will die, it will also take a long period of time before things settles.

But who cares that even I never saw it could happen (bitcoin dropped to $ 10), even when bitcoin goes down, then those big investors will immediately come in and make the price of bitcoin pump up again.
To be honest, I personally didn't think of anything like this before, because I didn't think bitcoin would touch that price. I never imagined that someone who had an early dislike of bitcoin would laugh at the drop.

If BTC drops to such a low price (which I doubt it), altcoins will become "worthless". Many of them will die, leaving us with only a few players such as Ethereum and Litecoin. Crypto/Blockchain tech is just getting started, so I wouldn't hope for a major downfall in market prices in the time being. It could take decades, if not centuries, before BTC and altcoins drop all the way down to "rock bottom".

I'd focus on filling my "pockets" with prominent coins at a discount, to sell them at a profit during the next bull market. Don't expect much from altcoins, especially when they aren't as comparable to Bitcoin in terms of decentralization, and censorship-resistance. They're just experimental grounds for Bitcoin which is the real deal. Who knows how long altcoins will last? Just my opinion :)

Waste of time thinking about the problem of no return, when people dream of material value that it will go up OP is thinking downward. Theoretically it's not possible until now, if this happens give me some more specific cases. As for the hypothesis from the OP, I think there is a good answer, look again then the BTC swap capital is not even equal to 1 person's money so why do we care about it.

If such thing happen to BTC, I guess altcoins will take the place of BTC because altcoins team will use that period to prove to people that altcoins can pump higher without BTC in the market. But I don't think BTC price can fall to $10 this year because people have experienced 17k last year that made some to wait if the price will reach$10k before they can buy BTC, and the price moved to $20k in the month of December 2022. BTC teams are very ready to make sure the price of BTC reach $50k before the end of next month which the price has moved to $26k to encourage investors to invest more on BTC than altcoins.

ETH going all the way down to $1 is impossible. The same thing can be said about BTC going down to $10 per coin. But if it happens, most of the altcoins will die because they depend on these two cryptocurrencies alone (BTC and ETH) to survive. After all, Bitcoin and Ethereum dominate most of the crypto market. The only way this will materialize is if governments around the world ban crypto/Blockchain tech for good. Mainstream adoption will decline, leading towards lower market prices in the long run.

Altcoins often come with higher risks than Bitcoin alone, so I'd suggest you diversify your investment to protect yourself against a massive decline in market prices. No one can predict the future so we can only hope for the best. Just my opinion :)

Just like doing probability math we can predict for the future, there is a lot of speculation about the price but OP gives everyone such a thought.
That's okay, we're here to speculate on everything about the market, I think $10 in BTC would mean a bunch of altcoins would then be of little or no value. And such a low-value market will no longer care, because its past price indicates a collapse.

When Bitcoin is worthless and drops to $10, what else can one expect from an Altcoin. It will impact all ecosystems in crypto, all will be destroyed. But maybe there will only be a few who start to rise.
But to think that bitcoin will ever reach a price of $10, that would be an impossible delusion at this time. We see that bitcoin has a very fast growth from the beginning bitcoin was worthless until today.

Better if you are starting to read some worthy articles in internet about the failed of altcoins. You may able to find some cases related to the altcoins that were failing to the ground even though bitcoin was still pricing so high. FTX, Terra luna, and many more given us very good lessons about the fact that if it doesn't even need altcoins waiting for bitcoin to be failed.

It is understandable to speculate on these things here, we can think of the most absurd things, but it is not necessary to agree with such a view.
Assuming BTC will drop to $10 with the current market conditions and context, I think it will be a disaster for the economy in general and this market is only a small part. And then altcoins will no longer care about them with things that are no longer worth using.

The theory that bitcoin drops to $10 or some conspiracy theories about bitcoin to zero are unrealistic and completely unfounded. Instead of worrying about it, we can expect more of a recovery and put our faith in bitcoin. Bitcoin and altcoins have strong correlations and dependencies. Therefore, assuming that happens, altcoins will still survive but decline in value and even become unsustainable.

It will remain a theory but there could be possible scenario where it could reach that valuation again but that's too farfetched. It's a very speculative asset so people are speculating the unthinkable but on my own point of view, it will never get there again and for sure those who wait for that will just get old or be gone in this world before it happens.

I think the very first thing that comes to my mind is why bitcoin could experiment a drop of 99.6% on its price? If this happened then almost all altcoins will disappear with the exception of those which have a use case, also I doubt that during that time there will be a lot of people willing to buy bitcoin as they will be incredibly afraid that whatever investment they make could turn into dust, that being said I do not think this scenario will ever happen and it is not realistic at all.

The only ones who want Bitcoin to go down as low as $10 are haters (eg: banks, governments, etc.). The rest of the people simply want BTC to go all the way to the moon. It's highly-unlikely Bitcoin will decline to such low prices, when it's widely-known to the public. Not only that, but demand remains high while supply is capped at 21m units (added scarcity). If BTC goes down, you can expect altcoins to go down with it too. After all, they follow Bitcoin's "footsteps".

By the time BTC goes to $10 (very unlikely) most of the altcoins will simply disappear. That's because they depend on Bitcoin to survive. Let's all focus on buying and "holding" BTC, as the best is yet to come. Just my thoughts ;D

True, long term holders can appreciate a dip from time to time in order to get more bitcoin for their dollars, but no one wants to see bitcoin going that low, after all something really catastrophic will need to happen for such a price to even be a possibility, and I simply do not think this is possible anymore, so if anyone is out there thinking about waiting for this to happen so they can buy some cheap bitcoin, they should give up right now or otherwise they will never buy any bitcoin.

It's likely the price of altcoins will also fall as most alts are influence by Bitcoin's price. So if the price of Bitcoin plunged to $10 then alts will also follow.

Anyway why did you ask? Do you think Bitcoin will drop to $10? With the current standing of Bitcoin now (adoption and increasing number of investors) I don't think the price will drop to such price. We don't know what lies ahead but i'm positive that there's still more to look forward.

Altcoins still depend on Bitcoin, the market exposure of Bitcoin is still huge and that can totally affect he trend of altcoins. Let's think positive here and let's hope that we have this Bitcoin now where it can give us freedom, a real currency and not being controlled by any government, Bitcoin should not come back to this price level.

If bitcoin drops to $10, then you can officially say that crypto is dead. Since crypto won't die any time soon (probably never), then bitcoin will never drop to $10. Bitcoin going down to $10 would kill every alt out there. The exchanges will go bankrupt, lots of other businesses will go bankrupt, hell I think some retirement funds will go bankrupt too. It would be catastrophic. Bitcoin is too big to fail now. The government will have to bail out everybody if something like that starts happening. This is no joke. Millions of people will suffer.

Bitcoin will not be 10 dollars, it used to be 10 dollars but it will never be 10 dollars ever again, those days are gone and will never come back again. Probably it will not happen,if it happens means.The market is crashed fully,the crypto currency will loss his importance among investors.It’s unexpected one from the crypto community,most of the investors in bitcoin holding for the time.Even if the crypto market was crashed,it will not happen in one days.So till that exchange your money from website,the website will give you some time.And bitcoin will not reduce to 10$ at any sense,because people holding billions of dollars in the form of crypto currency.So they never allow this to happen at any circumstance.Hold the crypto currency till it was alive in the market.

what does it mean? they will not survive or gonna die? while I support that majority thing , yet destroyed is not that  close to happen because many will survive but will not grow as high as expected , meaning that many altcoin will continue to maintain their position or get lower though will continue being used by their supporters in their own way as it was being used.

No altcoins can hold on because people will start selling their altcoins due to fear of the whole market crashing and not existing anymore. We'll also have people that'll be looking to accumulate bitcoin so they'll be selling anything that's available to them to ell to get as many Bitcoin as possible because they believe the market will recover.
If this was to happen now, I'll sell everything I have to buy Bitcoin because a bounce usually happens when a market crash like this. The market might be dieing but it'll still have some life of bouncing and then I can sell and wait on how things ends.
Bitcoin holds the cryptocurrency market together, every coins is trading with BTC and if Bitcoin was to fail then we can't have the cryptocurrency market anymore and this will be worst then the altcoins collapse we have witness before.

I'm also thinking the same. Traders will desperately try to revive bitcoin by selling their altcoins and hope to get a massive profits as they bought bitcoin in a really low price. It's more logical to hold bitcoin in that kind of scenario rather than volatile altcoins. If there is a drastic dump like bitcoin going down up to 10 dollars each, I'm speculating that stable coins will be depegged as traders and normal holders will be rallying in buying those stable coins. Any other altcoins that is not that much relative or has no proper foundation will massively crash into nearly zero value if bitcoin step at that kind of price point. Though I doubt that this kind of scenario will happen  ::) we are just speculating here..

Bitcoin brought a revolution by blockchain, will the market in ETH easily meet the demand then? Personally, I think the path for bitcoin to drop to $10 is pointless and almost 99% realistic of it will not happen. and we probably wouldn't expect too much in this situation.

The scenario might be like that but to be honest I don't believe that Bitcoin will go down that far,
when Bitcoin goes up the altcoins also go up and vice versa,
so just imagine if Bitcoin disappears of course it's like the end of the world for crypto.

The scenario is very unrealistic as it does not make much sense for the price of bitcoin to got that low and stop at that level, at that point it would make more sense for the price to go all the way to zero than to remain there, a scenario that is not very likely at all either, taking into account how the adoption of bitcoin is growing each day, and this also means that its price will keep going up during the next months and years.

if it will going to drop that low then lets admit that the crypto is a nonsense and will die together with bitcoin because what is altcoin if there is no Bitcoin around? because dropping that low means there are no support from the people and there is nothing to continue.
but the good thing is what we do believe and that is 10$ for bitcoin will never happen for sure.

Exactly. Most people will sell their altcoins holdings out of fear from a total market collapse. After all, Bitcoin is the reserve cryptocurrency of the crypto market. Every altcoin has at least one BTC trading pair in an exchange. If BTC falls to $10, altcoins will drop massively until they become worthless. Not even ETH will survive.

BTC has gone a long way since its inception, so the odds of it falling to $10 are very slim. With the halving right around the corner, you can say goodbye to "cheap" BTC for good? Who knows what would be the fate  of altcoins as BTC becomes bigger and stronger than ever? Just my opinion :)

It will never happen and just imaginary question. according to Google survey more than 1.3 million users are holding btc and this number was just 1k in 2010. The possible reason to drop btc to this stage os only if Btc Contract code accessed by someone and hack the full code which is impossible. This isbthe reason Btc is Most trusted Crypto coins because of its decentralization.

If it happen and btc drop to 10$ then all Altcoins will crashed like ustc and Luna. no one will be in mood of buying any coin and we would see big sell pressure.

But till now no one can hack full code of bitcoin and thinking it is just an illusion that will never happen worst impact on crypto so we have to be positive believe bull season is coming and for anyone long term investment will take high profit so take advantage of market corrections to increase bitcoin balance in trading accounts and don't risk FUD for $10 because that prediction will never happen.

Although it will never happen in the future market, if i assume BTC will crashed 10$, then undoubtedly i can say that altcoins market will dead, big whales will manipulated in the whole market. Where BTC is dead, how others crypto will sustain in the market it’s very simple thing.

I don't think this will be happening, but say that it happens, well weak coins will likely go obsolete and then others will be priced in the cents but then again this is super discounted and demand will certainly push price up which will see bitcoin market price go up and allow other altcoins to ride this wave and price will go up supper quick.

This questions is really easy to be answered. If you OP is regularly watching the market and you will known what must be the reality. Altcoins are only following bitcoin at this moment. It jumps and down based on the bitcoin price. If btc drops and everything will be dead. Altcoins are going to the zero value if bitcoin will be dead soon. Ethereum may also worth a few cents only.

I am not sure if I could ever be a billionaire, that seems like the most unlikely thing ever. And to be fair I am not looking for that neither, since living in my nation is not really that much insane, I could just get 100k and that would be more than enough for me and it's very realistic in the world we live in right now.

Crypto could get me 100k, and considering 1k per month is more than enough for me and I already make nearly 1k myself as well, I would be able to live a comfortable life. I would put that in interest, and I would just spend the extras and I would live a much more comfortable life. In order to reach that I keep investing into bitcoin and check some alts, one day I am going to reach that level, even if it takes many years.

Yes it is without a doubt and as long as we keep learning and trying it is likely that we will make more profit in crypto,

Are you sure about that? as far as i know that if some altcoins like xrp, matic and qblockchain actually relying with bitcoin. I kinda feel if the price from those coins will be going to the zero value as well as bitcion price that will be plunged so hard but to be honest if this thing was only in our imagination. bitcoin is very strong right now and it can also be called as store of value. No point to call it to go to the 10 bucks again.

BTC falling to that level price will surely will kill the atcoins with that, it may hard to recover if that to happen though this is just an assumptions so it's safe to say that bitcoin will continue to set to high price in the futures to come hence bitcoin has a limited supply and it will become more scarce in the near future.

BTC dead altcoin dead. BTC up altcoin makes only slightly movement. All of altcoins may be dumped to the all time low. Bitcoin is the key for altcoin to increase, if bitcoin is failing to increase and altcoin will be following it too.

There are some altcoins that does not depend in bitcoin so  I believe that some investors and users will convert their transacting if they start losing trust in bitcoin as what your scenario is asking.

surely current market capitalization of bitcoin make it hardly goes that low, even if it reaches $100 so many already ready to bag this coin but it's just talking about possible scenario and this one is also possible, i think overall bitcoin hitting $10 is marks the end of cryptocurrency reigns, effectively, all other altcoin gone to dust and vanish.

So when other cryptos crash, it has to do with the economy? I bet no. They crash because they experience a problem. Some crises can indirectly affect BTC making its value fell or became stable because people might not have a money on them and the only solution they can think of is their BTC but it does not lead to a point where BTC fall that low. I think that is because the crises are already solved.

People does not sit and wait but they also do an action to speed up their recovery. Alts can sometimes depend on BTC but there are times where they can go on their own too. We already have a BTC and it gives us a freedom the way we use it a currency. If you mean freedom in terms of profits. well you will need to buy and hodl hard for that.

But don't ever think that will happen to the investors because they surely leave the marker before it happens. So, if ever the price of Bitcoin drops to its dying price, we also have nothing to expect from altcoins (any from them) to survive as people had dumped it already until the come has come that nobody is buying anymore.

But it was just a sort of market assumption, it can be right or wrong. We never know what really awaits us in the future, 10 years, 20 years from now, perhaps we don't have any clue about it.

BTC has come a long way since day one. You can't expect it to lose value overnight. $10 is way too low for a scarce cryptocurrency such as BTC. If that happens, it would mean people have abandoned the cryptocurrency for good. So far, there hasn't been any indication that mainstream adoption for BTC is declining. On the contrary, adoption is on the rise even during these times of crisis (COVID-19 pandemic, inflation, Russo-Ukraine war, etc).

I'm pretty sure BTC will reach a new ATH in a few years from now. Since altcoins follow BTC's "footsteps", they will lose value big time if the "King of Crypto" goes all the way down to $10. But again, that will never happen because of the reasons mentioned before. Let's all sit back and enjoy the ride as BTC sets course to take over the world. Just my thoughts ;D

For have some assumption then it would be understandable that it would really be having that free fall on that case if ever it would happen but as just said its been that close to impossible for it to happen unless if t there would be some huge major exploit on bitcoins chain on which transactions could be reversed or something that in connection about its anonymity or decentralization then it would really crash to the ground.

People's confidence towards it would really be wiped out but of course we do know that if there's something been kicked out in place then there's always that someone or something who would really be taking the

Don't forget that whenever the price of Bitcoin is dropping other altcoins price will be dropping too, which many traders are aware of that and it will be difficult for the price of altcoins to increase higher more than Bitcoin. I don't think, it will be possible for the price of Bitcoin to decrease to $10,000 because the price has increased to $28,321 few hours ago which there is a hope that the price will increase higher in this season to hit $40,000 before the end of next month. If you are part of those traders waiting for the price to drop down to $10,000 before they can buy, I think it will be difficult for them to see such opportunity in the market again.

I think looking at the past, we can say that the future doesn't really hold 10 bucks, it could go up and I have no idea how much so I agree that we do not know what will happen, but I do not think that it will go down. We are not aware of how much it can go up but at least be aware that it will go up, that part is true and doable.

But for some people, it could be an opportunity if Bitcoin drops to 10 dollars, because most of people altcoin follows Bitcoin and I believe the percentage of dump on altcoins is higher to Bitcoin everytime Bitcoin dumps.

BTC will never drop below $10, though just what you want to know.  So I would say altcoins will also suffer severely and many altcoins will die. Also the altcoin utility will decrease a lot,Investing long-term in altcoins, meme coins carries a high degree of risk.So the number of long-term investors will also decrease and people will slowly move away from cryptocurrencies.  Although I have no idea about the future, I can guess.
