Title: What is the Strangest Bet You Have Ever Had?
Post by: Davidvictorson on March 19, 2023, 05:01:44 PM
Gambling or betting is moving beyond just casinos and sports to other sectors of the economy. There is a thread here on betting for the 2024 United States election, and another one for the Oscars. I have seen people bet on movie characters and all sorts of things. This is not to say that they are addicted to gambling. I think we do it for fun, as a form of socializing. While thinking about it today, I wondered what the strangest bet I had ever had was. I remembered having a bet with my brother that he would give me $80 if I could eat 5 packs of 200g of instant noodles in less than 5 minutes, and if I couldn't, I would give him $90. What is the strangest bet you have ever had?

Luckily I have not done any strange bets as I don't seem to remember having done such bet.I am a conservative in almost everything that I do and as such mostly I play sport bets or slot machines but luckily I don't feel anymore the urge to keep playing slot machines anymore as there is no point, you can't become rich with them while I think with sport betting if done consistently and not with obsession you can make a nice decent amount of extra money every month, this is only my theory though which in practice has not come true  ;D.

Some people have bet that they will eat sh*t of someone else if they lost what they called a sure bet,but that is clearly disgusting and I don't think I can call these species human beings, humanity has done a lot of stupid things unfortunately.

It seems I have some strange bets in my experience, maybe you don't think it's weird but I myself feel weird about the bets I make, one of which is I bet with my classmate that seven days from that day it will rain or not and the correct answer is will get $ 100 from each person who bets, Second, I bet on who can not sleep within 24 hours and everyone who is lose must pay $ 135 to the winner, at that time there were 5 people who took part in the bet, I think that is the strangest bet I made and it is beyond the ordinary people's minds to place a bet.

After remembering that I had one bet that I thought was weird and that I did with my own friend. In short, my friend and I are betting to get 1 woman, or competing to date the same 1 woman. Yes, at that time my friend and I made a bet on who could get it first, then the first date, all costs were borne by the loser. Maybe many people experience this kind of experience, but for me personally this kind of thing seems quite taboo and I consider it a strange bet that I make.
Honestly I'm sorry, my regret is because I feel it played on the woman's feelings.

this question made me remember the time when I was really addicted to gambling until I made a bet with 3 of my friends about the sound of the lizard sounding how many times. and that's not all I also once bet with my friend about whether it is raining or not today and if I am right I will get $ 20 if I lose I will give $ 20 to my friend.

this is a ridiculous bet that I have ever felt in the past. well, even if it's just for fun, but for me it's really fun to bet with my friends about bets that never exist in casinos.

When i was young i made a stupid bet with a girl. She told me that if i can keep a 20€ in my fist and she can open it just by talking she could get the 20, if i managed to keep my fist closed she would give me 20. So that was a no brainer, i won't just open my hand and get free 20. And i guess i was drunk because immediately she told me that this won't count, i need to have my thumb outside the fist, and i opened my fist to take it out and she took the 20.

I felt like a moron so i guess i deserved it.

My siblings and I often bet on commercial ads on TV when we were young.
It could be more time on playing PS1 or which channel to watch next.
LOL it was the very first form of bet or gambling that I've done and I could remember.

I can't remember any really crazy bets but my buddy would bet the strangest things.  We bet him $10 if he would eat a dorito we lit on fire.  And even worse $50 if we can take a staple gun to his arm a couple times.  I don't know if those 2lwere bets or we just paid him to do some wierd shit.  Either way looking forward to some of the answers here lol.

I can't speak for myself but I can speak for a few people I've read/heard stories about. There are people who have put money on the European championship in 2004, that Greece would win it. Greece was then seen as one of the weakest teams in the European Championship, but in the end they won the tournament. Someone sold his house and bet everything on Greece winning. He probably bought the whole street with his money afterwards. But that was a success story, there are also people who have experienced the downside with betting on odds of 1.01 who went completely wrong and placed a bet of $100,000 or more. That's how it can go.

I've been with those type of bets when I was younger, yeah, a kid that do gambles with his friends about nonsense stuff and I think that's quite normal. Like if who's gonna win with your friend's sparring. I've got crazy experiences about it and I just realized that it was strange since the adults that has been with us have tolerated everything and it was a different norm way back then when we were younger. But now, as an adult, I wouldn't teach kids to gamble for physical fights even if it's for fun since kids shouldn't hurt each other whether it's made with prizes or giveaways.

I only bet on sports and on casinos I still don't remember betting that can be considered strange,  the closest that I can think of was the time that the ferry in our location will arrive because it never arrive on time, sometimes I win and sometimes I lose and I still wonder why that ferry cannot arrive in the time that it should, given that there's no traffic in the sea and the speed is always the same.
If you're a gambler you will bet on almost every circumstance, some gamblers do this to sharpen their analysis and to earn extra bucks, one of the popular jokes on this is
Quote
I am not going to gamble anymore so do you want to bet if I will really not  :D

No doubt, the gambling industry is not static, and as such adapts to new threads & innovations that has great investment potential and a very good source of fun/entertainment.
So in regards to the question you just ask about what is the strangest bet I have ever had? I will likely say that for now, I just can't remember any, but their was ones I manage to see few weeks ago about a content creator on the street asking people if only they can finish a full 75cl of bottle water in 6 seconds, he will give the person #10,000 naira (local currency) equivalent to $15, and until I left nobody was able to finish the water within that short period of time, just as shown in the picture below which I got from google.

Here in our country, this still happens to this date. If you've heard or been aware of the spider fight? That's what of the strangest bet I guess that someone from other countries will hear from us.
Just like cock fighting, this is what most of our fellow gambler countrymen are busy with and it has become a trend and I think it is still right now.
Bets could be more than a thousand bucks and I did it a long time ago I was like a noob betting on spiders that I don't even know if they've been into fights before.

I remember some funny bet with my friend as well, a bet if I can pass the exam or not since it was not my favorite subject during that time and I’m really struggling but i guess this bet push me to study, since If I failed I have to give $50 bucks, and that’s a huge money already for a student like me. Fortunately, i passed the exam not that high but at least, i won a bet and they will not see me the same thing anymore.  ;D

Hotdog eating contest in Nitrogensports.

I'm not exactly sure why I bet on that event. All I know is that I was an extreme degenerate back then and I wanted to bet on literally almost everything and get some profits. Before I did the bet, I made some search, but man the only one they know on this contest is the defending champions, and the rest are first timers. I still put out the bet anyway, and the man I placed my bet to lost on 2nd round quite easily lol.

As long as i do gambling I have never done strange things like this fortunately :D
I don't know if it's because I'm really boring because I don't want to try anything else or I can be said that I'm not really a brave gambler but indeed for betting from the beginning I was in gambling only about football and basketball which I followed and nothing else.
The reason is simple, because I rarely watch other sports like cricket or maybe MMA so I prefer to bet on what I watch.

I have seen several gambling offers but I do not dare to bet to those I see strange.  Since I do not have any idea about the game, I feel that there is a huge chance that I will lose the money I bet to it.  Most of my bet are from regular games.  I am really not attracted to the type of game that is not ordinary or of regular mode.

Here in our country, this still happens to this date. If you've heard or been aware of the spider fight? That's what of the strangest bet I guess that someone from other countries will hear from us.

I do not see spider fights or insect battles as strange because I often see them in my place.  I even sponsored one of my neighbors to buy a good one and raise it to pit against others but sadly my neighbor do poorly. LOL

One that I can think of, and I don't know if you guys have heard it, is what we call "ending game" here, you can read the explanation from one of our own, @goaldigger Let me introduce "Ending Game" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5134723.0).

And then when I was a little, me and my friends will have some kind of money, we are going to guess the last digit of the plate number that will come. So it's a winner take all kind of betting, hehehehe. Just bring back my childhood memories.

And another as what @blockman said, Do you have experience betting in a spider fight? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5134445.0) or In my town there are ants that only appear once a year and it is common for children to capture one and start a fight against others ants. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5133119.0) Or this kind of game maybe as the OP says it's a pre WWII game, Historical Street Gambling Game. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5061587.0)

Yeah, it's not strange for us but in other countries that probably have heard this for the first or second time, it's totally outrageous and strange for them.

I remember also the battle of beetles. Where we put bubble gum on each other's back while both of them lays equally and whoever flips the other end wins.

This thread has made me remember not just all of those strange bets but also what a colorful childhood I've got.

The strangest bet I've had and only did it once because it's really very strange is when I went against my neighbor because he has an uncle who always has a drink almost every night, I bet against him triple the amount he bet if will bet against my bet and it seems he and his uncle are conniving because when I bet that he will drink on a given day he will not, and when I bet that he will not drink on that he will drink, I was so foolish not to find out that they are conniving.
I never bet on strange bets again after that, I prefer to bet on boxing and on other sports where people usually bet.

This attempt at arbitrage, was an oddity.

8x winnings on one side if Demetrious Johnson won.

38x winnings on the other if Henry Cejudo came out the winner.

(It also needed TJ Dillashaw and Pedro Munhoz to be a true arbitrage play. You can see from official results of the event that both were victorious.)

I think this was around the time I began attempting accumulator / parlay arbitrage gambles back in 2018.

Lol, Op just took my mind far back,
To talk of the strangest bet I've ever gotten involved in, i think its one I did with friend of mine, where he said that he could lift a 50kg bag of cement with his teeth and walk around our compound with it for 3 minutes, I told him he couldn't, but he insisted he could, we ended up betting about $50 dollar each, there was another friend there who decided to act as escrow, we gave him to money to hold, there was already a bag of cement on ground, so i asked him to lift it with his teeth and walk round the compound  for 3 minutes, he tried and tried but couldn't, at the end, he said I should give him back his money that he was only joking, I refused, he pleaded and pleaded, at the end, I decided he is not having his money back and I am also not having my own money back, we went to a nearby hotel with other few friends, there, we ate and drank with the money, in the end, me, him, everybody was happy.

In my opinion I think betting is getting limited as lots of regulation are coming in. We can basically bet on anything therefore it shouldn't be having a limitation. Elections, award etc can all be gambled on with bets with your closed friends or general public. I have many bets that can fit into this categories of strange best but I'll have to go with the I won huge.

I once was bet huge some of money to ask out ten girls in my day at college, and they all should accept to go out with me. It was around $375 that was the prize and I was dare to begin. I successfully won the bet although it came at a cost of something more valued as I lost my girlfriend that week after should found out I asked those girls out.

This thread reminds of past memories. Going through the OP's fun gambling experience I remember similar event of eating competition where I was offered mere 5$ and finally I won and my friend didn't paid me. During Christmas Carol we were offered food at the end. That particular day we were offered Rice cake, I'm not sure whether you people are familiar with. The bet was to eat 25, I finished it and he increased the number to 50. That too completed and the bet remains unpaid  ;D >:( Those are really fun filled days.

This might be not the strangest bet to consider for others. This a bet that something had a low chance to win but I was able to nail it. That makes it strange as only a few bettors might be able to risk decent money for it as it is almost impossible to happen.

Back in the 2016 NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers were against the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are having the best season of that year finishing a big record in the history of the league with a 72-9 standing. They were 3-1 in the Finals and now need 1 win to be the champion. Imagine, a team with a record-breaking achievement in that season, Cavaliers need to beat them 3 times in a row, that seems impossible.

Guess what, a sudden turn of event happened as the Cavaliers did the impossible and become a champion that year. The big risks I faced paid off betting a place for the Cavaliers under being down by 1-3 really paid off.

Yeah, the Oscar betting and the US presidential betting are kind of strange ones but I never really bet on those regularly, only if there's a movie that I cannot get out of my head or an artist who really did well with his acting skills.
If I ever had one strange bet I don't recall it anymore.
But I had mistakes that are kind of strange to me. Betting for over the total score but picked the under instead and then I was happy after the game because I know to myself that I took the "over" and then surprisingly looked at the results that I lost my bet. The feeling is kind of sad and shocking. The whole day I went thru silence just trying to remember if I really did a big mistake. Up until now, I don't remember it, I just tried to move on.

The Eurovision is probably one of the strangest bets that i've placed back then I can't remember specifically if it hit or not as it was only a small bet though so I barely paid attention.

Next to my Eurovision bet is the presidential election, i'm the type of person that barely followed the election but somehow I ended up betting on it due to the hype and trend that it accumulated at the time. I had a bigger bet though so I still recall that bet winning and some of the users were spamming the chat nonstop about their bets on Trump.

I cant remember when i was old enough betting on strange things but my friends always betting when there are local elections on us and it has variety on it like who will won a mayor even it you plus 100 votes on him something like that which makes us voters feels nervous when they start counting the votes

I think the weirdest one was when I was in school, I think I was around 16 years old.
Some friends and I liked an specific show on TV and we decided to bet on what would happen in the future episodes, I remember we not only bet some money but also food in that occasion.

I lost and I had to buy a sandwich for one on them.

Political betting is as old as traditional betting just that few casinos offer them, so there are unpopular but existed, we are more familiar with the sport and other games betting but the truth is that one can stake a bet in whatever events that are contested on, be it sport, politics, and other prize events as long as there will be contestants one can bet on them.

-The world is changing, and unpopular events are becoming popular people are diving into other sectors outside what they used to know, and this has opened up a lot of things in the betting world since we now have varieties of events to choose to bet on.

Maybe I've never made a weird bet like you or I forgot about it because it might have been too long. But maybe it's not too weird, but I don't know. When the five of us were on the street, we met three girls and the five of us made a bet on who could get the number first out of the three girls, he would get $50 because we bet $10 each.

In the end, we all tried it and only one of my friends got the phone number of a girl whose name we knew was Cindy. I don't know if it is a bet but I think it is a bet because there is money that is a prize for getting that phone number.

I used to gamble on Futuur. There is a unique experience there. The platform is offering odds on things that I consider strange. Of course we have heard of crypto bookies releasing odds on the US elections and the Oscars, but no other crypto betting platform offers what Futuur is offering.

I just checked the platform and betting odds are still provided on things like business, entertainment, science, politics, etc. So you can bet on strange questions like "Will the birth of a cloned human baby be announced by the end of 2025?" or "Will Brazil implement universal basic income by the end of 2024?"

I've made bets on these strange topics.

What is the strangest bet you have ever had?
The strangest thing is betting on the American presidential election a few years ago, this is a common bet actually because it became an event that was also highlighted by a lot of media so it was quite viral at that time, but it was not a presidential election in my country where for sure only American citizens could see chances are who will be elected and also because of some things the results take a long time to be known there are bookmakers who immediately finish this betting market but there are also those who prefer to wait and for that it is quite a strange bet because I interested in betting on the presidential elections of other countries

Hmm, I'm not really sure if this would count as strange but I believe back then after my mum was done with her cooking me and my siblings would go back and add more spice to our food and then make a bet on who is going to finish his or her own first. My elder siblings always came out victorious after giving me some headstart and allowing me to have hope that there was a chance for me to win.
I guess that's the only one I would call strange because betting on who is going to come out victorious in an election or competition isn't strange and I do that a lot with my work colleagues.

A lot of people are doing this, but I always find it strange and fun at the same time. Me and my friends used to play this when we're still in college and getting drunk along the highway late at night. We place small bets about how many cars will pass by in 10mins sometimes 30 mins. The closest count wins. That was really fun coz we were like literally screaming like hell when a car passes by, people even think we're crazy laughing at every car that passes by, until someone approached us and asks what's up with all the noise every time a car passed, then we told him about the bet and you know what he said? "Well, that's fun and more better than doing drugs!" LOL.

I remembered having a bet with my brother that he would give me $80 if I could eat 5 packs of 200g of instant noodles in less than 5 minutes, and if I couldn't, I would give him $90. What is the strangest bet you have ever had?

I don't think I've been involved in very strange bets. I do remember in the past, when internet use was not widespread and even less so on mobile phones, that bets were made that are no longer made today because the facts are checked by looking at the mobile phone in a few seconds. I remember betting shots, drinks or a meal on factual discussions.

What is the strangest bet you have ever had?

Getting tricked into eating wierd stuff for money was pretty common in my highschool time. I remember that one time a friend of mine bet me 20 USD that I couldn't eat a whole garlic in less than 3 minutes. Unfortunately I took the bet and swallowed all the small garlics as whole without a problem and felt good about the money. In the end I smelled like a garlic myself for a whole week and every time I started sweating I was almost throwing up. Until today I hate the taste of garlic. The craziest bet I ever heard about was like the guy that sold his house to put everything he owned on roulette. No idea how you could put your whole life on one single bet. The funny thing was that he got filmed doing it and it's on youtube, I watched that clip so many times with my friend.

Honestly I wouldn't call it as strange bet for eating 1kg of instant noodles for less than 5 minutes because the challenge is still able to beat, someone who have fast eating habit and can eat a lot can pass this easily. I think the strange bet should be like a bet where it's almost impossible to happen, like a parlay bet where you guessing the goal result of many football matches, that's really hard to do and strange if your bet are correct.

Nothing defines gambling more than this; we began betting as children and found it so enjoyable that we continued to do so without even realizing it. The one I had was with my course mate, there is this particular course that people find difficult to get a distinction and not because it is too difficult to pass, anyone can get a distinction under normal conditions, but due to time constraints, students don't have enough time to finish the exam but I bet it that I will have a distinction in the course, I prepare myself and practice multiple times and when the result came, I had a distinction and I won the bet. How did I win? I was fortunate; the preceding year's questions were repeated again, and the outcome was favorable, I think this is luck favoring my gambling.

Just a childish bets before when i was in elementary like I'll bet you he cant reach it or I'll bet whether who has higher score gotten in exam. I cant remember when i was old enough betting on strange things but my friends always betting when there are local elections on us and it has variety on it like who will won a mayor even it you plus 100 votes on him something like that which makes us voters feels nervous when they start counting the votes

Yeah we all have that childish bet but when I was a child, I thought that everything I did is a childish play. I used to bet in horse racings, find clues in newspapers and watch race tracks with some people in our town. I can't remeber that I won but I remember a huge stack of money in front if me from the winnings of other players. I realized it so late that those aren't for children. Kidding aside, I've always thought there is pattern in those races and believed that luck contributes the biggest in winning.

I think betting who wins in presidential election is actually fun. In our country, people took too much pride in their bets without checking the credibility of those. In the end, it's the citizen who suffer when the wrong candidate won.

The most strange bet I had was when I was 10 years old and I bet into a slot machine. I think it was illegal and I don't know why that store had 2 slot machines inside. It was a horse race in a slot machine so basically, it was pure luck. At first, I was cheering on the horse I bet which was consistent in the 2nd and 3rd place. But when my horse is nearly at par with the leading horse, I felt scared. All of a sudden I thought that if I win, my mother will punish me if she caught me having money and I can never tell her that I played in a slot machine. I was full of sweat at that time and was praying deep inside that my horse will lose. In the end, my horse only placed 3rd and I was so happy deep inside. :D :D :D

The strangest bet that I have ever had was when I was a kid around 6th or 7th grade and it was about who in our friends group could get to kiss a random girl first. Anyway, long story short, I was cheated out of my few dollars and a Pokemon card (a japanese dark Charizard, if I remember correctly), because one of the kids who bet me broke the rules and planned to share the win beforehand with a girl he knew. ::)

Anyway, a good life lesson not to trust anyone. Verifying is better. ;D

I think me playing like baccarat when I was like 10 years old and against those street hustlers in our street. It's strange though because I'm not that tough kid or what, but that time, I'm really taking big bets from those individuals not just older or even that time adults already, but those guys are street hustlers and they can just say, "hey kid, are you cheating or something"? that's enough for them to get all the money that I won against them. Nevertheless, I just acted tough and was lucky that night, until someone whisper to me that my mom is already looking for me so we have to stop the game, LOL, what an experience growing up in the streets that time.

Not really that strange if you consider it, I and my friends bet on a night trip to a graveyard near us, we (or others not in the game) set up some stuff early on and whoever got it first had to pass it to the person standing guard outside. We did it in the middle of the night and boy was it dark, bloody place did not have lamp posts (or even if they did, it wasn't exactly on then). We bet around $30 each, it was kind of like the stuff we were supposed to get meant how much we would get each, I got around $70 iirc since there were quite a few of us.

Nowadays gambling is not only considered as an economic dimension. In some cases winning the bet is the key. Whether it's the election Oscars or your Instant Noodles, there's a lot of fun as well as money. Although such betting is done through money, it seems strange to many. However, such incidents will be seen in the coming days more then previous. There was an incident in my life where I made a bet with friends to eat raw vegetables. Where I won a small amount of money.

What is the strangest bet you have ever had?
Of course, you are not talking about online betting right, of course I often do some strange betting ideas in my life, of course all I do is just for fun with my friends and relatives I make those strange bets.

For example:
* Make a bet by doing five people and put some silly ideas in the box including money, so we'll shuffle the boxes, who is lucky he gets the money and instead they will get what is in the box, The strangest thing about the contents of the box is that they have to bathe in flour if they guess the city.
* Another strange bet is to pull a random collection of threads at the end of the thread there is writing, so whoever pulls the thread must accept the risk that what is written on the end is right on the paper, The threads must be the same color and the same size, the threads must be covered so that only the ends and initial pull can be seen, the middle cannot be seen, in my opinion the strangest bet I have ever made.

A bet that I often made in the past was betting on sports when the World Cup started. Each of our bets for his favorite team, and the bet amount varies depending on the mutual agreement. I didn't win many bets because I didn't know which team to choose and just randomly picked and saw if the team was from a big country like Brazil, Argentina, Italy, and others. And if one of the big countries is going to compete with another big country, I will choose a team from my favorite big country.

Well, that's probably the real bet we've made in the past few years. And now we are far apart and rarely get together again. We miss those days and want to return, but it's impossible.

What a strange bet you had there. LoL ;D

I sure would have lost that bet if I was the one that placed it, first of all, my looks would have discouraged me and also placed me in a bad position, and then secondly my shy nature would have been a disadvantage for me. That idea of approaching a lady head-on scares the hell out of me and that's the reason.
I'm sure it must have been a great experience for you and your friend

Strangest bet could come in many dimensional ways to every gambler, one may comes in making a lifetime surprising win over an unexpected bet, it may comes in form of a huge amount of losses over time or at once, while it may also comes in as series of bets one has experienced staking with different outcome and the new betting strategies coming into the gambling world whereby people are developing new ideas and approachs on, once a gambler experiences something nee from the usual in gambling, it becomes as a strange occurrence to the gambler.

That's cool and fun too. I remember last year me and my friends bet on which player will go to the grand finals of a mobile game, the prize will only be food because that time we don't have enough money and we are still studying but during that day we don't have a food to eat after the game so the one who will win the bet will not need to contribute to our food. Playing with friends using money or some other things is fun and never to forget moments.

My strangest bet is when I was a kid. We were playing "pogs" which is a circular thin cardboard used to play where you can throw it and slam it when you win, you will get the enemy's pogs. So everyday we were playings pogs it even reach to the point that my fellow friends their pogs run out so I have to go to the other neighbor just to play with them. However, I have like $10 dollars and my enemy almost run out of pogs and then he said "I'll pay $10 dollars if you win". So as a kid with $10 who play for fun agreed then I throwed the pogs at the air its like head and tail situation which is mine is head. So when the pogs dropped it shows head and he paid me $10. That time I was amused like I can gain money by just playing? So the next time I play I always ask them to bet their money than the pogs itself. And a lot agreed since I am good with this game, my $10 went to $100. That time I haven't realized yet that simple games of kid became gambling, of course I don't always win that time so I only got $100 dollars. This experience was stranger for me since I have no idea that I am already gambling with that age which I found fun.

This is not strange but rather a phenomenal bet because it focus on same gambling game that people usually use. It just vary on the possibility of the outcome therefore you can still categorized as normal bets. I believe strange bets are those bet that you didn’t even know it exist due to its unique conditions to determine the winner such as the OP example.

My personal strange be is when me and my friend bet on whoever who will make a certain girl become girlfriend. We bet our special items on our games that is very valuable for us. At the end, the result is tie because we are both don’t get a chance to be the boyfriend of the girl.  ;D

I don't bet on bizarre things or on banal events. I think I could talk only about unlikely bets, that is to bet against the favorite one as the strangest bet I've ever made. It was during the world cup of 2010, a match between North Korea and Brazil. Brazil was the favorite without any doubts, but I predicted the game would end in a draw by 1x1, because a seer told that on the television one or two days ago. However, the game finished with 2x1 score for Brazil...

I know that there is difference between the speculations and also betting and I think that Just blind guess is called betting and on the other hands if you have more probability like more than 50% of your winnings than it is called speculations and you should take risks.
By the way and also luckily I have done these kind of strangest betting because it could addict me to do these such things and in this way future could be in danger too. So be alert and sty safe.

I remember one time that i decide to hit an x9999 on Plinko, so, I made a 0.1BTC depo on the old casino called Luckybit and start placing bets like crazy... after betting all day I lost almost all my balance so I give up that day. But here comes the magic, on the next day there was an event at the casino, so I decide to place a bet to verify the engine was working fine, and there it was, the first bet of the day and x9999... I get back the 0.1BTC with that shot. It was weird as hell because the day before that I placed like 10k bets.

And another strangest bet was when I decide to hit an x300,000... and if you want to read that story here is the thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5406456.0

As I'm reading through the thread as well I'm recalling other strange bets I have had, it's always exciting when you win those bet. Even though you don't get paid like in your case, the excitement that comes from winning the bet is worth it and if we still have this bets thses day I won't hesitate to participate. It feels like now we're getting too old to bet.

I had so many strange bet even with my parents, one time they get me to pass my grade with excellent since I wasn't the most brilliant. I did study hard that session but they didn't reward me when I came out with flying colours instead they told me that was what I was meant to be scoring. I didn't take this to heart because it did benefit me to this day

This one isn't a strange bet from my side but it was what I experienced so that is why I want to share it here. I was walking down the street on a sunny day getting to my bus stop,I saw some group of area boys gathering and arguing, I decided to pork my nose into what is happening. Getting there I saw a guy saying that he could drink a bottle of dry gin named Chelsea at a stretch and people were telling him he can't. A man came out of the with $20 amount in my local currency to challenge him on a bet that he can't.

This was how the bet took place, they bought the big bottle of Chelsea and handed it over to the guy,he opened it and started drinking without resting. He finished the drink and collected the money but after that he could hardly work few steps away from his standing point before he started vomiting blood and slowly he died. Everybody ran away. Since that day, I decided not to bet on strange things. This should be a lesson for everyone not be bet in challenge of something that is very risky to our health.

Growing up I have experienced different awkward but funny bets in my childhood among friends.  One of such bet was more like a challenge bet. It happened that I had to let him know about my interest towards a certain lady in same street we living and he was like, no way, I can't get her and I felt it was like challenge to me and I told him in four days time I was gonna get her to my side and so we had to bet $20 each. To be frank Caroline was like a rock I couldn't crack through despite all tricks I used, and four days went by I never got a chance that was how I lost that bet challenge.

IMO, in any country, there is at least a slightly unusual diversity of stakes. I mean, traditional gambling which involves several groups or players versus players. whatever it is, everything can be a gambling medium for people who like it. without exception, in my country there are many traditional bets which are quite strange to me which are carried out by players versus players. however, I've never gotten involved in anything that doesn't appeal to me personally.

Including as you said in this thread for example, betting on the 2024 United States election, or betting on the Oscar winner. maybe, for some people this bet is not strange. but for me personally, a little bit funny indeed. to be honest, I can't see the essence of the gamble. I mean, the fun I can have. probably, for most people it is very attractive and therefore it seems that many gamblers are interested in it. but whatever it is, talking about the strangest gambling seems to be difficult for us to find at online casinos.

Ever since I realized that playing too many clubs increases risk, have been so careful with my money. I hardly bet. I only do so when I'm very confident about the teams involved and it always works for me. I take two or 3 games and give it a good staking Power,  and every time I do so,  I seldom lose more than a ticket if I play up to 3 or 4. But I have never been this disappointed at this new strategy until I involved Leipzig and Baryern in my ticket which they both lose to Bochum and Leverkusen respectively. This is the strangest best result I have met.

When it comes to some odd bets then it was particularly on a swimming race on how far we do able to reach out.Of course since we are submerged on water then payment would be done later on.
We've been betting around $100 on whose the farthest and pooling all of those funds and the winner takes it all. Yes, its true that we do make out bets according on specific events which would
really turns out on making bets to make things a bit spicy or more interesting with having some involvement of money or bets.
This is why it is really that applicable for whatever things you would be encountering.

Betting makes routine events fun. So I think it's a good idea to make them fun by betting on things that are starting to get boring... When I was a kid, we went on a boring tent camping holiday as a family. My brother and I had a bet when we were doing a stone skipping race on the sea. The person with the lowest score carried water for the dishes that night. Damn it was a bad try and I carried water for the dishes because he was better at it than me. Looking back now, I see this incident as one of the weirdest allegations and memories I've ever made in my life. It wasn't something that involved money, but we managed to turn a routine event into fun. I think that's what matters.

Well, I believe everyone must have had a lot of strange bets in their lives when they were younger or maybe kids. We often bet on things when we are kids where we just feel that something will happen but someone else keeps saying no it wouldn't, and so out of anger or whatever someone may call it, we call a bet on it and challenge them to see if who would win it.

I remember when I was a kid, I was with my cousin's friends and we were going somewhere on foot. On the way there, we saw two dogs fighting, and as expected, we took a lot of interest in it and even started betting with each other, lol ;D. One of the dogs was pretty healthier and looked stronger, so one of my cousins said who will have a bet that the stronger one will win the fight? I took the chance and the risk and said that no, the one that looks a bit weaker will win in the end, and believe it or not, I won the bet ;D.

Some people have bet that they will eat sh*t of someone else if they lost what they called a sure bet,but that is clearly disgusting and I don't think I can call these species human beings, humanity has done a lot of stupid things unfortunately.
it's either you didn't grow up with your siblings or you where too serious with life and you guys didn't relate much because, I do not think there's any adult who didn't bet for fun while growing up, at one point or the other, we have all placed a bet even when we don't seem to have the money to redeem ourselves if we fail, we bet either with our friends or siblings.

Betting on a spider fight.

Kind of weird I must say, but that's the only weird and maybe strange bet that I did. Back when I was a kid, there was some elders out here in our place where they will hunt some spiders in the forest. After that, they will meet-up on a particular place where they will put their spiders that they caught into a fight. The winner will spun a web against the loser, and will eat for days. We kids are betting on who will be the winner, and I think it's kind of weird and strange for me because that isn't happening for most parts of the world right? :D.

Anyway, maybe there's more strange bets that I did in the past, but that's what I remember and I consider it a strange and a weird bet.

What is the strangest bet you have ever had?
I;m not sure if this is truly strange but of course we all have our "Fun Bets" from the past meaning yes I still have those memories .

when i was young , we even use the road for betting and you know how it does?

We stand in an Over Pass in which bellow us passing the cars and yes , we Put a bet for the first color of a certain car we choose and the one who can guess ? will take the pot.

sometimes we put 2 bucks (since we are young and has small allowances)

Like seriously, it was really fun growing up in the 90s with lots of arguments, bets and playing so many games. I do feel that children of nowadays are missing those excitement of olden days. Technology has taken over everything. I remember during my kids days arguing with my fellow kids that God loves me more and that's why he allows moon to be following me everywhere I go  ;D
That's how we started the argument until the elders intervened and settled the case. Yes, we had no money to bet but what we normally did was to knock the person who failed. Very weird thou.

As far as I can remember the strangest bet I ever had was on a game "cockfight", it is common here in my country and though local games are illegal there are also some that are held on a coliseum in which it is considered legal. I had remember one time I went into a coliseum with one of my relatives  who is an avid gambler of that game, and me personally, I don't even gamble on this kind of games and he kept teasing me to try and gamble coz maybe I'll be struck by luck ( he means beginners luck ), but I kept refusing him coz I am not really a fan of this gamble. So he made a bet on me that if I chose one of the chickens and win he will $2,000 of cash, but the catch is he will still be the one to give me money as capital since that time I didn't bring even a penny with me. So I did the wager since it's all free either I win or lose I'm not the one losing. The fun part is that I didn't choose either of the 2 chickens, I wagered on "DRAW" that means nobody is the winner. He was so angry when he learned that I wagered on that and he does have a reason coz it was somewhat big amount of money. He kept grumbling coz I was wasting my money, but I was there on the side just laughing so much that my stomach is already hurting. Also the thing is I was the only one betting on that side coz when it comes to cockfight only the last one standing will win, which one died first will be the loser and there is almost zero percent that you'll won by draw like you are flipping a coin.

The funniest part is that I actually won, I don't know how it happen coz I don't really understand the mechanics of that game aside from someone winning or losing. To be honest up until now I still find it funny why I won on that gamble, but in the end he still gave me the promised amount.

Fact: This game is illegal in some countries due to that being animal cruelty, and I am saying this coz I don't really liked the game due to it that is why I didn't bet on it intentionally.

I guess that's not necessarily true either because if someone were brought up in a strict family environment and were very strict about caring for their children until they grew up, they would not even dabble in gambling, even if it was with their friends. They will not break the rules set by their parents because if they play gambling, somehow their parents will find out. I have friends who are like this and until now, they have never touched gambling or thought about gambling. So maybe it depends on how parents can educate their children.

But on the other hand, I also have friends who often gamble with peers and sometimes the bets are simple things that can become bets for us. For example, maybe we once bet on the presence of a teacher at our school during high school so we would bet on whether the teacher will teach a class on time or whether he will be late or even not teach at all. And we might make many other simple bets when we are young.

Personally, the strangest bet I've ever made was between me and my siblings. I guess most of us who have siblings has done this before. Way back, my siblings and I would bet on who will predict the next advertisement on TV. The one who gets the right answer of course, will take the money each has bet on. Most of the time, it was our youngest sister who would guess the correct advertisement, which made her earn enough to buy several sets of cheap toys being sold around the market near our area.

It was a fun experience and we were having a good time way back not really knowing that the thing we are doing was already considered gambling at some sort. We still do this kind of bets until now, but mostly it's related to lifestyle and decision making bets which I suppose is still harmless because we only bet what we can afford to lose.

There had been different options for us to chose from and I like the way many casinos had been giving us different option to select from even at an early stage. The bet on the United States election is quite surprising to me when I first saw it because the time interval this bet is going to be a win or lose is many months coming and I know that there would have been some gamblers that would have bet on the election outcome which is very surprising. I know with time, there will be option events and competitions that woul be added to the number of option we will be seeing on casinos.

This takes me back to my teenage years. I don't really think it's strange since it's normal among young adults but it's not something you see on any betting platform. I dared a friend if he could get a girl that we're not close with. The bet was to make her the "girlfriend" within a month if I remember the time limit correctly and I'll treat him to a drink if he could. I spent quite a lot of money on that but we did enjoy the night out hehe.

I once bet on my school friend with a bet on who succeeded in dating our upperclassmen at school, then for a month she would be treated to snacks and meals at school, at that time I happened to lose because I was not handsome and stupid again I bet with a friend I'm pretty handsome, lol
I had to treat my school friend for a month and we still remember that to this day.  ;D

I'm sure it must have been a great experience for you and your friend
it means you are not a confident person, I still remember that bet and I can't forget it maybe because of my high level of confidence at that time and thought that that woman would prefer me over my friend but it turned out to be far from what I imagined, lol

really disappointing but at least I have the courage to ask her out even though in the end I was rejected and ended up sad  ;D

Back in college or about six (6) years ago, me and my friends hanged out a lot in campus. Most of the time, we would just walk around and do some crazy things just to kill some time. Then, this idea was created where any one of us would shout "sex" or "dick" inside campus elevators with random strangers inside. The person who shouts it must be repeated by us with even a louder voice- the loser would have to treat us something.

Going on, I betted my friend that he should shout "I'm gay" while inside class for around $10. To my disbelief, he actually did it and the prof just continued lecturing while the class laughed about it. I guess that is one bet that I would say is the strangest bet that I have ever made... and it was worth it!

You should think many times before made your bet on spider fight.Because it’s huge risky one,we can’t ensure the predicted results in spider fight game. This happens in my country too, because being a gambler we are interested in gambling in any form of game. This type of gambling was happen using many animals,my senior use the trained cockerel.Because my senior had an habit of grow the cockerel from the young stage. The buy only the ethnic cockerel and not the normal cock.Because it won’t give desired results on the gambling based fights. So the cock was mostly prepared animal in the gambling as compared to the spider.Because we can control cock from his younger stage, this one is difficult in the spider fight.

It wasn't a 'formal' betting game but I once bet between a friend being pregnant or not. It was an agreement or betting game between my colleagues and I, since one of us was getting married that time. So in a sudden one brought the idea of a reason why they are in a hurry and this was one of the option. It is I think strange because that is really something to not argue about but the person of interest is down to it. I luckily won by the way, along with the two friends who voted yes. But with official betting game such as with bets among other gamblers, best one so far is the presidential candidate in U.S. First thing here is I'm not from that country. Second is, it is a serious matter because the fate of a country relies on the result.

I realized that I had a lot of silly and strange bets when I was younger. One of those bets is when I and my husband were watching a movie series and since the ending was unpredictable, we decided to bet whether it was going to be a happy ending or not. The loser would treat the one with the winning bet. Unfortunately, my husband won and I had to treat him to lunch out the next day. There were times that we are doing gambling unnoticeable but it's honestly fun especially if we are doing it just for fun as well. Gambling could exist anytime and anywhere we want.

These days I can’t say I’m making many strange bets. As a kid, we’d bet on anything we could think of prior to learning about actual betting games like cards and dice. One bet I can remember making as a youngster was who was going to have the most home runs on our little league all star team. There were plenty of bets to eat things and do embarrassing tasks as well though.

During our high school and college years, we all love to make bets with our friends, and it can be done almost several times a day. It's hard to remember what I did the craziest thing for money, but I think I climbed up the third floor of the women's dormitory down the drainpipe. We were a little drunk at the time, but I won a case of beer. I'll remember that bet for the rest of my life.

If you are a type of person who does have lots of friends and this would usually be happening on your elementary or high school days on which these kind of bets could really be made out on point basing up on moods
in between you and your friends.Same as yours on which i do have lots of experience about these odd way of betting on things and thats why i cant remember on which one would be the strangest.
Usually this would really be talking about those common actions if ever you and your friends would really be seeing something along the way. I cant point out which one
but for sure i do have those youthful days to be an enjoying one.

I think the three that you mentioned there which are; Election, Oscars, and Movie Character betting are still considered to be normal. There is also miss universe. I don't consider them as strange bets at all. Do you know the gambling site called Futurr? Not sure if I spelled it correctly but this gambling site is the ones that offer strange bets and not only limited to those events we talked about earlier.

Indeed, betting on these things doesn't mean that we are now a certified gambling addict but we only find them interesting. It also has to do with our personality. We are the type who like to venture on newer things and we can get easily bored on the existing ones that we are doing.

Personally it was betting on the most recent presidential election in the US for Biden and it was a little strange to see the bet settle so late after what should have been a clear outcome. Think the gambling company paid out after a few days but the bet sat in my account for another few months while all the legal wrangling was taking place through the courts. I even remember there were some pretty crazy odds against Trump winning his first presidential election campaign that would have paid off nicely if people took the chance on him at the time. Now though he is too tarnished, bitter and is unlikely ever to make it back successfully into that position again.

I think it has little to do with betting since it was a competition in the first place. And secondly, betting implies that everything is decided by luck, that is, each player has a chance, and this is where the fun lies. Competing in skill is fun too, but making an absurd bet (such as that one of several pigeons will fly first) and waiting for a result you can't influence is also fun.

To be honest, I didn't find the essence of the gamble you mentioned in this thread. before I want to say, that I would not say it is the strangest gamble. but for me personally, I did not find the essence of the bet. I mean, the fun I'll get from the election betting session, Oscar winner, Miss Universe.

In my country there are also local casinos that make betting as we mentioned in this thread. maybe, most people like gambling like that. So, there's nothing wrong if someone likes it and it doesn't mean they are gambling addicts. related to personality, maybe you can think like that, but gambling is your own choice, if you like it then you can bet with it if not then you can look for other options.
IMO, actually the essence of the OP's thread, more of a weird bet towards traditional gambling, it's just that the OP is lifting from a thread that seems very unfamiliar to him. yes, at least, I caught the OP's thinking like that.

I think I have placed bet on all kind of strange stuff and by strange I mean stuffs like racing between me and wife but we kinda do it for fun though, I just challenge her on a quick race staking a small amount of cash to the race of $30 to the actual winner of the bet, sometimes we also gamble on who is actually the best cook and my children actually act as the judge to the bet to give the decision to who is the winner and actually the greater cook ;D but all this we just do for fun.

As for me, my strange bet is when I bet with my friends that anyone that can hold breath in side swimming pool water for  3 minutes where all of us drop $20 each and we are 5 in number, which make everything $100 which we
promise to  give the final winner, but nobody was able to hold the breath for 3 minute in side water till we reduce it to 90 seconds before we latter get the winner but I was not the winner.and my second strange bet is when me and  elder brother bet that who to win ludo game three time continuously, where we bet $60 each but surprisingly I won my elder brother.

I consider this as one of the strangest bets I have ever made even though there's no money involved really.

So back in 2015, I was very big on League of Legends, and so are my friends. Just so we can party up as a team and play together with good comms (Voice communications wasn't available in LoL at the time), We'd rent a couple PCs in Gaming Cafes and play to our hearts content. So here's where my strange bet came in. I had a female friend who's included in that LoL group who's pretty good at the game and a gay friend that's just starting to learn the ropes. After going out for some food, we decided to play league at the usual place. For some unknown reason the gay friend and I decided we'd bet on if the female friend will play with us on the gaming cafe or if she's going to stay home and play on her laptop. We went back and forth at it, I made a bet that she'd play with us, the gay friend bet on the other option. Oh by the way, loser has to voluntarily die 5 times against their lane opponent effectively throwing the game on their lane.

By some stroke of "I'm going to mess with this particular guy" the female friend said she's going to stay at home, and so I thought I lost. I even went so far as to keep my word and willingly submit to my opponent in 5 deaths.

She played with us on the gaming cafe , so basically I literally just shot myself on the foot. Didn't even struck me that she played with us until after the game was over.

So yeah, that's how my strangest bet went.

The strange bet that supposes to be fun, gets to my turn it became an unforgettable experience that I can't forget in a hurry. I was supposed to drink all of Don Simeon's wine and win $20. Yet the requirement was that I remain standing without sitting for roughly an hour.

I accepted the bet to consume all of the Don Simeon wine. Within 10 minutes of completing the wine, I had defecated all over myself and dozed off for days without remembering to eat or take a bath.

Every time I think back on what transpired that day, I remind myself not to participate in or attempt a crazy bet with anyone, regardless of how amusing it may seem.

That's crazy I guess, I attended a boarding college where we were free to eat and drink what ever we liked, but were never allowed to take alcoholic beverages or contents.
And there was a boundary between males dormitory and females dormitory, and on no account should any of this sex's be found on opposite sex's dormitory.

As males, we enjoyed alot of games and betting and stuffs, but was never really as fun as it should be without the female counterpart, you guys were pretty on the loose  ;D.

What is the strangest bet you have ever had?

Here in Brazil there is a very popular television program called "Big Brother Brasil", it is a reality show that shows several people confined in a house, and every week one of them is eliminated.
I honestly don't even watch the show, but I know a lot of people who bet on certain people leaving or staying every week.

I've never made a very bizarre bet, I think the most "out of the ordinary" bet was for an Oscar winner (I lost) or for the next president of the United States (I also lost :D).

At least when it comes to the bets I have personally made my strangest bet has to be when I made a bet Trump will win the 2016 election, do not misunderstand me, I am not really into politics as politicians will say anything to get your vote and do whatever they want at the end.

However when I saw the odds given to Trump during that election I could not help but to think the odds were wrong and he had higher chances to win than that, so I took my chances and made a bet that he would win, however that was not the only reason I made that bet, as we know Trump can be a polarizing figure so many people around me were mad at him and I made the bet just to piss those people off, and once he won I suppose you can imagine how mad they were not only that Trump won, but that someone they knew actually made money because of it. ;D

this is funny because i have to bet in the past in Rat game in which a rat will be released and in what box number he will enter? then that is the winning one.

never that I bet in this again because for me this is an abused to the said animal because there are lots of gambling way and not to use them for fun.
though i am not condemning Horse racing because for me ? it is their purpose in life to race and to give people entertainment .

Now that you mention this, there was a Crypto currency gambling site like this, where the "rat race" was shown live through a streaming video and then people bet on those mice.

I have to admit, I thought it was a good idea at the time... until I saw that the same mice were used 24/7 and that food were used to get them to participate in the races.

I stopped betting on the rats and I see the site is gone.... so I do not know if animal activists complained about this.

Here in our country, this still happens to this date. If you've heard or been aware of the spider fight? That's what of the strangest bet I guess that someone from other countries will hear from us.
Strange for other countries but for us it's already common. Because of that I remember my childhood days with my friends. One night, we escaped from home to find and capture a spiders because we want to have our own spider to fight for each other.

It's so fun and satisfying to bet in your own spider then will win. That's certainly an unforgettable experience of my childhood. Anyway aside from this, the strangest bet I had is when I bet to my neighbors who's going to arrive first at our school during our primary days, but instead of money we bet a food.

What is the strangest bet you have ever had?
I had a strange gambling experience to be precise when I was young with my coworkers, in short I was on vacation at a waterfall, if I'm not mistaken in 2018 in May the second Sunday. As usual we take a shower to refresh our bodies and some time later my friend offers a betting challenge, whoever dives the longest or holds his breath in the water is the first to surface the water, he who loses with a bet of $ 350 with 3 rounds, I'm interested in trying it , for the first round I won, the second time I lost and so on I lost and of course my friend got $ 350 from my wallet. At that time, I often did strange gambling with my friends, such as guessing height, guessing sleep duration and others.

I have a sports betting experience that is a little strange in my opinion because this is done by physical bookies who bet directly using fiat money every time there is a football match.
Where every gambler will deposit the money they are betting with a 100% winning multiple of the amount at stake, for example when I bet using $ 100, if the team I am betting on wins I can take a total win of $ 200.
And if there is a match in which one team has a greater advantage and has a greater chance of winning, the dealer will immediately reduce points to that team so that it seems fairer in each match.
I don't know how the bookie got his profit but in fact he is still the bookmaker of the sport and lots of gamblers around are betting with him.

When we remember the odd bet we made, it might bring nostalgia to us and maybe there is a desire to repeat what we did in the past with friends. But things have changed and even though we can repeat that nostalgia by playing the same game, the feeling is different and changed. And that odd bet will remain in our memory, becoming a memory of the good times with our friends.

So those of us who have already made that odd bet should feel lucky because not everyone has that nostalgia. And we are part of that nostalgia that we can cherish forever.

I've some strange bets, I mean very strange ones maybe to me because their was a time we had to bet on who sleeps last and we were able to bet $50 each and who ever sleeps last goes home with the entire bet and then we really didn't tag it gambling because we only did it out of shared ignorance but as time goes on, I was ale to figure it out to be gambling and I did felt the Impact of that $50 because as a kid I knew how much and how long it took me to raise such amount of money and I even lost it while hoping to make it thrice😁.
And the other strange bet was when we had to bet a friend to go sleep with a guy and she ended up doing it without stress and got the whole money

I once used 10$ worth of Bitcoin to gamble on freebitco website and I did some rolling and I netted 0.2BTC this was a very long time ago, I was surprised at first that I reload the web page again, I quickly try to withdraw but this spirit of confusion came straight for me, I thought, why can't I just keep doing this? Maybe I can win more, and I ended losing everything.

It is very easy to lose yourself when you win a gambling game, your greediness that's been buried within you for a long time will wake up instantly, what I learned is to always take your winnings, if you want to try your luck again, use 1% of your reward, or better come back some other day.

All these gambles have more pleasure than money. I think gamblers are usually take part in such things but the people who never gamble often play this type of gambling. And here bets are placed on various strange things. Where there is a fierce fight about winning and losing. But that fight is also done with joy. Usually this type of gambling is more organized between friends and family. I think every human being has less or more this kind of experience.

Oh,we systematically bet with friends and the prize is most often beer. Our bet is as idiotic as possible and I'm afraid to write about them here)) We also bet on various world events and events that take place in my country. One of the strangest I had was this: if I don’t pass the entrance exams, I will have to run naked around the house. But the victory was mine and I received money as a reward.

In my high school days i had this strange bet of who finishes some sticks of cabin biscuit after a few count. It was one of the ways of adding to our weekly allowances. Lately i have seen bets on reality shows both local and international, as well as street bets on daily activities such has what car a certain wealthy person in the street will leave their house with when they have fleets of cars to chose from. Bets has become part of the society and people create new styles every now and then.

The most strange bet I ever saw was a bet that connected with space jumping. I think it was several years ago. Someone has set a record of jumping from space or something like that. I dont remember clearly what was that jump about, I only remember Red Bull logo and I remember that there were a lot of gif pictures on the internet about that. And it was one of crypto gambling casinos that offered to place a bet on that event. There were two kind of bets, will the new record will be set (which means jump must be a successful and that person must survive) or not. I knew that people from long long past made weird pari, but that bet really amazed me. I did not know that people place bets on such stuff.

(Maybe I have confused something, but that bet was about something with space and it happened 1-2 years ago)

Oh man, I've had my share of bizarre bets! Like when I bet my pal I could polish off a whole pickle jar in a single sitting! Confidence was sky-high till my mouth felt like a wildfire! Lost that bet, but learned a thing or two about not overvaluing my pickle love.

Joking aside, bets and gambling can spice up our mundane lives. Keep it playful, don't get too serious, and turn those losses into life lessons! So when you're betting, ensure it's goofy, fun, and have a water jar handy for pickle wagers!

I have this experience too wherein my confidence was beyond the horizon during the betting placement, but still lose it even I was really so sure I would win. This is because i became negligent and impulsive due to believing so much on my capabilities rather analyzing the situation and the risks. So yeah, it was a bit embarrassing and humbling at the same time. Made me learn a lesson which is to assess the possible outcomes first and check whether it will be worth it or not to gamble upon.

Allow me to tell my story about strangest betting experience I've ever had, it happened a long time ago but I still remember because me and friends often talk about it. At that time we were young but we liked gambling to increase our pocket money. 6 people including myself, did a challenge going to haunted forest, each of us put $2 in an empty jar. Only one person who can survive 1 hour will get the prize $12 :D in short we can't survive that long we are scared including me, also the prize that was in our jar os gone. Where did our money go? when only one person which into this forest meanwhile this jar are hung on a tree and surrounded by five people.

these kids bets are usually fun
like betting who can eat more of something like OP mentioned, or betting into physical stuff
the other day I saw a video of a guy paying people 1 dollar per squat rep with a lot of weight, don't remember how heavy

to make things more interesting I went to ask chatGPT

Quote
me: hi, what are some of the strangest bets in history?
ChatGPT: There have been some truly strange bets throughout history, here are a few examples:

The Houdini Bet - In 1926, Harry Houdini made a bet with a group of businessmen that he could escape from any jail cell in the world within one hour. The businessmen accepted the bet, and Houdini successfully escaped from a jail cell in Washington D.C. in just 50 minutes.

The Beard Bet - In 1860, two men named Abraham Lincoln and William Fogg bet on the outcome of the presidential election. Lincoln bet that he would win, and Fogg bet that he would lose. As the stakes, Fogg bet his beard against Lincoln's entire campaign chest. Lincoln won the election, and Fogg shaved off his beard.

The Titanic Bet - In 1912, a man named Joseph Dawson bet that the Titanic would sink on its maiden voyage. He placed a £5 bet at a local bookmaker, and when the ship did sink, he collected £10,000 in winnings.

The Million Dollar Bet - In 2002, a wealthy businessman named Robert Kraft made a bet with a casino owner that his New England Patriots would win the Super Bowl within the next five years. The casino owner accepted the bet and agreed to pay Kraft $3 million if the Patriots won. The Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl three times within the next five years, and Kraft collected his $3 million each time.

The Rat Bet - In 2003, two men in England bet on whether one of them could live with 40 rats for a month. The man who accepted the bet lived with the rats in a sealed room for 30 days and collected his winnings of £20,000.

These bets may seem bizarre, but they demonstrate the lengths that people will go to for the thrill of a gamble.

EDIT:
asked the same question again and it returned me a different result

I didn't verify it but it's fun anyways

There have been many strange bets throughout history, but here are a few that stand out:

The first recorded bet on the weather was made in 1690 when a man named Elias Ashmole bet 20 guineas that a particular day would be rainy. The bet was won, and Ashmole donated the money to charity.

In 1851, two men bet £20,000 on which of two raindrops would reach the bottom of a windowpane first.

In 1880, a group of men bet on which of them could swallow the most goldfish. One man reportedly swallowed 199 fish.

In 1964, a man named David Threlfall bet that he could drive a motorcycle around the world in less than 100 days. He completed the trip in 92 days, winning the bet.

In 1979, a gambler named William Lee Bergstrom walked into the Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas and bet $777,000 (equivalent to about $2.7 million today) on a single roll of the dice. He won the bet and walked away with $1.5 million.

In 1980, a man named Brian Zembic bet $100,000 that he would get breast implants and keep them for a year. He won the bet and kept the implants for more than a year.

In 2002, a man named Ashley Revell sold everything he owned, including his clothes, and bet his entire net worth of $135,300 on a single spin of a roulette wheel in a Las Vegas casino. He bet on red and won, doubling his money.

In 2012, a man named Rory McIlroy bet his father and two friends that he could hit a golf ball into a washing machine that was situated 150 yards away. He hit the shot and won the bet.

These bets are just a few examples of the many strange bets that have been made throughout history.

What is the strangest bet you have ever had?
It was a good experience and quite strange in gambling, I think I have done it too but with different foods like pizza and fried chicken, when my younger sister challenged me to whoever eats more wins and whoever loses he will paying for the entire food bill I find it pretty weird and fun, and I also had other weird gambling experiences back in my school days like guessing the grades of a subject at a $30 bet and one more weird thing is who can make a deaf person smiles with a serious expression of defiance taking $300 from the loser.

I do not know about you but for me it is really strange. I know it's common to see someone who does like that due to that mukbang videos but I never saw someone who use it as betting. Eating 5 packs of noodles within 5 minutes does look hard too for someone who is not used to it like the OP. I can't even finished one pack within 5 minutes lol, so I probably won't accept this challenge.

Strange bet does not mean that it was almost impossible to do but strange bet is the ones that we don't often see in the casino. On some Asian countries they even bet in two spiders who are fighting in the stick. This can be another example of strange betting.

Haha. Your story reminds me of a funny bet made by two of my comrades. The subject of their bet was a soccer match of our country's national team in one of the international tournaments. Our team had once again lost and one of the comrades, who is a particularly ardent supporter of our team, was forced to get from the car to his home naked. And he did. I remember laughing until I cried.

Mine is running for like 1000 kilometers. There two bettors one will run while the other will eat madiga (local cake) bake in a local oven. When the runner returned and the madiga has finished then the eater had won but of the madiga has not finished then the runner had won and the worst part of that game is that you wouldn't drink water when eat. So it was very difficult for the eater to win the game.

Strange Games that are not common in the society

Personally, I don't play gambling as an addiction but rather as a hobby, for example the game of poker that people play so commonly. Nowadays gambling has developed rapidly, there are so many types of gambling that we can access on online casino sites and elsewhere.

Of the many existing gambling sites, we had a strange experience in a bet that was made while still in college. Everyone who loses playing playing cards must rotate the campus building 5 times, tie rubber on the ear and pay for food and drink in the cafeteria for the winner, this is the most ridiculous bet I did when I was in college with friends.

The strangest bet that I had ever had,was when I was given five wraps of pounded yam to eat on a sit without drinking water. Actually I don't drink much water when eating,so I thought I will be able to win the bet but I was wrong because after eating the third wrap,I couldn't eat anymore and this was how I gave up my bet. It was quite funny after so much bragging in the presence of my friends but I just had fun on that day. I don't do strange bet anymore because it doesn't look matured. I lost $30 in that bet.
