Hello buddies, I am considering buying Solana coins and holding for a very long time. I want to know if this is a good idea before forging ahead to buy it.

I dont think that its a good idea to buy Solana and hold it for a very long time. Some short flip maybe if you are good at trading, but definitely not for long term.  The only coin worth holding for many years is Bitcoin as everything else is a big gamble.

It's a big Yes. Solana is a decentralized crypto that has been functioning for 6 years and has a bright future with the blockchain used to operating it. I hear many people daily placing it as one of their top 4 crypto to buy for long term holding. I have some SOL myself. The market cap of roughly $9 billion dollars as of today is little compared to many cryptos. This strike my instinct that it has so many vacuum still left to be filled up. Reaching $250 in the near future can not be a too difficult achievement.

If you're not going all-in, buying solana could be a really good investment, but chances are it's not. In any case the project has already proved that the possibility of a scam is out of the question after the FTX crash. It is true that there are new prpjects now, which may replace solana. You have to realize that investing in altcoins is like a lottery, but it seems to me that solana is not the worst choice.

Can you be more specific on the "very long time" since that sounds vague and its interpretation varies - some people consider one year as long already. I personally don't think it would reach its previous ATH at $250 even during the anticipated bullrun after bitcoin halving but it could still be carried. Maybe that could be your target holding period. Buy now and flip it next year.

Solana was a hot topic in the past but soon a lot of projects moved from it due to it being too centralized> suffering several breakthroughs and some failures.
the competitors have become good, for example, Polygon provides the same features with fees close to zero.

To provide some perspective, I can share my personal views on Solana. I'm a fan of the chain and use it regularly, particularly for NFT-DeFi applications. Right now I enjoyed lending SOL against NFTs on platforms like sharky.fi and FFF's Citrus to make some passive investments. While its native DeFi space may not be as big as it was during the FTX era (guess all that TVL come from Alameda :D), the NFT ecosystem remains active and thriving. Solana's high TPS and low fees are key unique points that differentiate it from other chains like Ethereum and its L2 solutions. If the dev and foundation continue to improve the chain (no more downtime) and step up their BD/marketing game, it could potentially work well for Solana's long-term prospects.

In my opinion, this is a personal matter for everyone. Because everyone has their own strategy. Of course there will be different opinions. In my humble opinion, this can be successful in the medium term. Personally, I did just that, that is, I keep a small amount for a long time. the token is still rising up though we have learned that this is only pumped by FTX. i thought SOL was over after the FTX scam but it's still recovering.

the bottom price i think was close to $10, which could have doubled your money if you invested while it was happening. i will still say avoid investing in this SOLANA project knowing that FTX/Alameda is associated with this project.

The coin continues to grow as bitcoin increases and has found his way into the top 10 Alticoins list but just like you said it will be huge gamble to invest on it considering that FTX wants all there coins back. There’s the Ren token that is currently in crisis because FTX also heavily invested into it. So it is best to keep off Solana for now or just gamble on.

Well, the performance of this project is quite convincing but we're not sure how it performs in the next few years especially when your intention is to hold them long-term. I may say it was one of the lists for many investors but holding them should also depend on how it performs. Unlike when choosing ETH or Bitcoin, you can really have peace of mind holding them for many years but in this project and of these several altcoins, it was hard to assume that they will turn good just like what they have currently shown to us.

The only yourself can determine whether it's good or bad, since solana ATH was three digits and it's time if it's now still two digits and the chance to go up is quite high at this moment. I would not be surprised to see that if solana will able to go back again to the three digits if bullish trend will come again soon. Solana is as good as major coins in the market. It's also having a very big ecosystem at this moment too. There's no doubt that solana will be reaching another ath soon.

People are still actively using it. It has hundreds of thousands of users at this time. Buy when it's still low sell when it's high.

I dont have any doubts when it comes to Solanas potential which i could say that it is really that something worth to be holding on.
This is why if you do make this coin part of your port then go ahead.

You got a point here, after what happened to FTX Exchange, I started to sell my Solana for other altcoins like layer 2 tokens.
And add also their network outage, because it was not the only 1 time that happened, it already happens multiple times.
Yes, the transaction fees on Solana are extremely cheap and fast, I tried the Solana network for quite some time especially participating in their DeFi platforms.

It's good decision. People are always putting FTX as main concern while FTX was only owning some tokens which already liquidated. Solana is coming up again. It's the time to buy it at the cheap price. Let those who scared about FTX to avoid this project. The fact that if solana is still included in the top 100 projects. This project can rise up again as long as there will be another good reason like bullish trend. The price already pumped from the bottom.

It's really hard to give financial advises here.

If there is one advise I can share, it's that you have to DYOR (Do your own research) about the project that you want to invest. Maybe someone will advise you to put huge amount of money in Solana because they are a holder of it. Or someone will sway you against this project because they have other coins in their portfolio. So the best thing to the OP and for those others as well, it's your money that you are going to gamble in the market, so just make sure you invest it wisely on the project that you have studied and look, just saying.

Tough to say whether it is a good investment or not. There are users here are supporting the project and they have their own views on its future. While Bitcoin maximalists have their own narrow but safe view.

It would not hurt to pick up a stash of Solana for future if you have cash at hand to spare following regular buy low rules. Nobody believed etherum when it first came up but look at its price now. Since Solana has been here for long, you should give it a try but only after you have enough BTC at hand.

It seems though that Solana to me has reach it's peak during the last bull run.

So not sure if it can duplicate that success later or there will be new coins that will come in and then become the latest hype and overcome Solana. We all know how tough is the competition right now, with a lot of good projects also wanting to take that big slice out of the billions that investors are putting money in the altcoin market.

Regarding the price line, I have no opinion.
About technology, Solana is like a book that is written on top of it and gets thicker and heavier. In 2021 the Solana chain had many stops for repair due to overload.
Regarding the investors behind Solana, I believe many large funds have not yet disbursed their tokens in seed rounds. So let's hope they pump Solana again. For me, this possibility is not high.
FTX has recovered $7 billion and is ready to reopen at an appropriate time. I don't hope much for the return of the FTX exchange when their CEO is being convicted.

I used to be very optimistic about solana but for now and in the future there are many more competent competitors in my opinion.

The smart developers will be learning from not to be trapped into the same hole again. solana may have some bad stories last year but nothing happened till this time. Solana is still safe. i think that the old hack is not even related to the blockchain. It's about 3rd party who can't properly handle its platforms. Please don't hold altcoins for a long time investing. If you want to hold for a long time, invest in bitcoins. Other projects will die slowly. Advice is not something I am comfortable doing, it's easy to say not buy something, like I highly advise not to buy doge for example and at the worst case you won't earn money, but not buying will not make you lose money anyway.

However to say that you should buy something is a bit different, it just means that you should not be really looking for that, and it would end up being something a lot worse for you if you buy it and it goes down, so saying you should buy could have bad results. But for this project, SOL looks like something you could avoid and it could be fine, I am not saying it won't go up, but it has nothing special about it that can bring you more money than anything else above it, so it should be alright to avoid it.

I had high hopes for Solana before and even thought of buying and holding it for long-term investment but because of the issues and controversies that it has been facing, I doubted accumulating it. I find it a lot risky to invest in Solana compared to well-established coins so if your goal is for long-term investment, just choose coins with higher potential preferably Bitcoin, Eth, or BNB. There are still lots of reputable coins that you can choose from but always do research especially if you are doubting.

How long? If, for example, for 2-3 years, it is quite an applicable strategy for such an asset, but if for 5-7 years, it is a very bad idea. Many altcoins, especially after some shocks, very often grow in a very limited range and no longer update their ATH, such altcoins need to be able to fix profits in time and not to overextend. There is some possibility that SOL will never reach its ATH again, like EOS for example. So better do your research and decide the time frame of the hold, because solana is not bitcoin and a long hold may not bring the same effect as bitcoin. Keep this in mind.

Solana is highly volatile coin, last year i invested 1k$ worth of SOL for the long term but within 15-20days it's decreasing almost 50% then i can't wait to keep hold it for long time. That is because of the situation we have now, since last year, the market is bearish red and no signs when will it come up again. 2022 wasn't really a good year for investors but in the good side, it's still a good thing for us especially for the beginners because it is not yet too late to buy leading altcoins and bitcoin. Not bad considering there are a lot of options out there in the market and new chains are getting some traction. The ultimate goal is to accumulate more Bitcoin and Ethereum but having some altcoins as stepping stone isn't that bad considering you could potentially gain some high results once altcoin season begans.

To be honest, Solana is just one of my favorite coins, especially because the network and platform are running very well, providing various conveniences and cheap fees. so for me, it's not that much of a problem to invest in Solana. it's most certainly always good to invest in solana but the thing is, there is many new altcoins that could give you good profit better than solana like arbitrum.

I'm not usually into newer altcoins but I can sometimes make an exception if I feel that the old coin is starting to deteriorate plus there are new coins which are seem solid. With all the coins that are in the market, it is only Solana that is appealing to your eye? Why not try coins that are work in the same manner like Sol and hold them. Solana has failed lots of people, majority of the investors regret putting their money in it and since it collapse, nothing serious is happening in the network unless the phone they plan to used for Solana chain but from the few reviews I have seen online, you will be disappointeed. Forget the price action you have been seeing, the traders are manipulating the market so that people will think solana will go back to $150 but that is deceiving.

Well it’s all up to you but in recent times Solana has been a solid project but you can never bank on an Altcoin, but if it’s not very compulsory you invest in Solana you can do your own research on top altcoins.

I may have no Altcoin now because of how inconsistent they are but if I am to ever have one I would go for safety, market record and reviews regardless of if the coin is listed expensive now so Ethereum is my favorite option.

I'd see that Solana is performing so well when the ETH fee is high, people are then switching to Solana because of small fees. Though, not as good compared to other altcoins like ETH and BNB but I believe that this project will also compete with others to make a good trend in the next bull season.

If you are aiming to hold them for several years like 5 years and more, I couldn't say it was a good idea but if you are buying in preparation for the next bull season, then I would say go for it.

It depends on how long u intend to hold Solana. The Outlook for this coin is very tricky. It shows a different pattern depending on the perspective of the analysis.

May i ask what gave you this idea to consider? Did someone told you it was a profitable or good platform? If so then why are you asking from random people about it. You can't confirm anyone's track record on investing in here. Or are you just seeking confirmation to your idea to buy it? If you haven't read their white paper and plans, maybe do so. And google criticism for solana as well. You'll be the judge if criticism is valid or not as there will be fud too.

I personally can't see harm buying it but i would feel weird if anyone trusted my word on what to buy. That would be a sure way to get rekt imho

It was getting massive down after FTX has fallen in the past. Solana is still able to defend its price caused by it's not fully correlated with FTX. The only problem if people may still take FTX as the main problems that will not be fixed very son.
This is making the situation even more difficult at this moment caused by solana needs to compete with so many new blockchains in the market too.

Well, solana is a good coin to invest we all know that; its chain became larger than its early years and that is already something to be okay with for this token. Problem are issues on its name. It is being used on nft and other projects which made it on top of majority of cryptos or altcoins. If you are checking for its validity as an investment in this industry, I would personally yes, given that there is a hype which should be enough to sustain the increase on its value in the future. On the other hand, nothing will give you an assured profit on a specific time frame; its market price still is down but for sure this coin would be one to follow the uptrend once the market again, becomes bullish.

 Solona are now again gaining some momentum. when its price drop to 9$ I was expecting that it will down just like luna but meme coin Bonk saved it and its price again recover to 20$. Solona Saga phone is new things they are going to launch which represents that team still doing there best to provide Best network to its user. I think investing in Sol is good.

There is something you need to know about altcoin, investing in altcoin doesn't really depends on you trying to choose a suggestion or even wanting someone to give you the go ahead order before buying. You should look at when making a lost those who have suggested for you may not be there to bear risk with you or even share lost with you, so i just suggest you should make the final decision on whether to invest in that project or not. But get one thing for sure about altcoin since we are closely looking at the bitcoin halving, there is every tendency that most of the major altcoin or all will certainly do well, where i don't encourage buying altcoin is inside bull run because you don't know what may come after Green time.

Why Sol? Why not Bitcoin? I mean, if you aren't sure of the future of the coin you are targeting buying because of unforeseeable risk; why not invest that cash in Bitcoin which has durability? Sol was a hotcake in the past but it seems all that frenzy has died off now. No one can tell you for sure what the future holds for Sol or any other altcoin. We are all speculators. That's the best anyone can get to in this industry. However, for you to deliberate on buying Sol it means there's something you think can make it a beneficial project. If what makes you think so is still there then it should be a good call from your angle. Remember, no one here is certain of the future of Sol or any other.

Some people are preferred to invest in altcoins instead of Bitcoin because of possible huge profit but granting it was intended for long-term investment, I agree it was a wrong decision for OP. However, I wasn't really confident that OP can manage to hold Solana or are able to buy it after hearing some bad news about it. I don't want to discourage him but must also aware of the situation as well and while investing Solana is taking a huge risk, unlike when buying Bitcoin which we could really have peace of mind no matter what will happen in the market.

Inasmuch as I am a supporter of altcoin i won't encourage any one holding much altcoin all less is just for a short term because i doubt if they can survived for long run. As a wise investors or strong believer of bitcoin i will advise you to buy and hold only 30 percent of altcoin and 70 percent of bitcoin at this no much risk is involved because you have tried to lessen the risk factors.

I don't think op would see it as discouragement because he was the one who is solely seeking for an idea, it is good to tell him the truth and left for him to choose whether to invest or not. If he thinks reducing his tension towards the investment then he should go with bitcoin and if he thinks of getting of huge profits then he should go with altcoins but the risk is very huge as well as they may not run for long term rather than shorts terms.

Solana is a good project and sometimes when I see people keep asking questions about it whether it is safe for an investment or not, I just wondered where the question is coming from. Solena has good possibility of doing when in the market when the bull market comes around.

i just think that solana chance of reaching higher again is gone, its already started being replaced by some other coin thats more significant nowadays, like those L2.
moreover the emergence of many coins nowadays thats truly innovative like layerzero and many more are definitely gonna make things tougher for solana.
the peak of solana is already reached, its when ftx was still fine before collapsing, thats when solana has reached its peak.
but right now its just some remnant of past glory, which definitely will make it harder for solana to grow in the future.

I personally like Solna coin a lot and investors have high demand for Solna so many invest based on some of the new coins. Those Solna got good returns from the last bull run so Solna coin is still in the eyes of many investors. And they are willing to invest more.  Like BNB, many trust the Solna project.  I don't think Solna Coin will be good for long term investment.  I think bear markets should be bought and sell during bull runs.  Because it seems risky for long term investment to me.The performance of Solna coin is much better than other coins.

I also think that the time of Solana is already past. Of course new growth can happen, but we should not rely on the previous high prices. As you said there are already other projects that can take Solana's place. This happens every cycle, new projects replace old ones. In the case of Solana it is a matter of a little time and the next bull market.

Solana is still a good investment. They have a good use case and the number of dapps and smart contracts on solana platform are ever increasing. They have one of the lowest fees and quicker transaction. Even though the utility tokens have a competitive market, solana would easily evolve as one of the larger players when the bull arrives. Buying solana at low and staking them as msol could be a good strategy for long term.

Investing on alternative coin is always risky. If you back to the incidence of Luna then I think answer will be on your front.
But if we talk about the Solana then it is also a renowned potential coin on crypto market. And there steps looks good for me so investment can be done also on Solana but best will be to Bitcoin for that here you have to no worries about the security. So fund is your decision will be also in your hand make your own analysis then do the investments.

Buying Solana Coin is not a bad idea, because all market is down, and we are all experiencing Bear market for months now and Solana Coin price is on a particular range as the market is fluctuating is good to buy while make a good entry point before buying and is good for long term holding investment as you mentioned as a profitable return investment.

Did Solana developers address the network outages? Because if they didn't, then odds of a recovery are very slim. Not even an FTX comeback will help. For what I know, this project is nothing but pure hype. Its main selling point are the blazing-fast speeds and ultra-low fees. But deep inside, Solana is centralized and flawed.

Whales won't be able to keep Solana afloat for long, as competing chains gain traction in the mainstream world. I'd invest in BTC and ETH like you've said to help secure my profits in the long run. Even BNB is a much better choice than Solana right now. Who knows if SOL ends up being a worthless coin in the future? Just my opinion :)

the thing is that, solana massively losing its value for the simple fact that there may be rumour about solana downfall caused by ftx collapsing which I guess just make it rather difficult for it to get back up.
if solana was related to the funding of the ftx investment then I guess it would hard to climb back up again its former price unless ftx realised its rumoured recoveries.
nowadays I just don't think that solana will be that great.
I think if i have the money to invest i'd just instead invest in other coin after all many potential coins out there.

I agree that solana still has strength and this altcoin won’t die within short time, even i believe It'll increase slowly but as you agreed, investing fund into this coin solana even in spite of being Layer 2 (L2), isn’t really worth currently. so why should anyone thinking about solana's performance in upcoming bull season  while ether, bnb, matic and so many coins are also eligible for hold until next bull run

It has got a strong community already so dying won't be that easy.

Unlike the other cryptos that don't have strength with their communities, it's highly likely that they won't survive. But if Solana also shows how strong the project is, who knows if it will get more investor to believe in.

The chart shows that it's far from its ATH and too low, looks like a sale but you guys decide if it is.

thats true, just couldnt really find any valid reason why hold solana instead of the other coins out there thats just far better, solana is already falling from its peak, and the reason isn't because bearish but because some company is collapsing, I never think it would reach that high again, gone the golden days of solana i think eventually people will move on from this coin, because honestly the fact that there are more and more emerging coins out there simply means that maybe solana was never that good to begin with compared with the newer ones.
therefore its just simply investing in new ones, it haven't reached all time high and still have many chance of reaching that in the future which simply means it could give massive returns. there's no reason to turn back to solana.

I use to have SOL back years but have sold all of mine in pandemic time
when the rumors and bad news comes to its name , though there are still plenty of my friends who still trust this , but I pass for now.
if you are truly planning to hold this? then better to limit your self and try to find diversified folio for that.

Solana is one of the potential altcoins, even though it is not as popular as Ethereum and Binance, Solana was able to get its best ATH several years ago, and until now Solana can still stay in the top 10 of the crypto market, I personally currently still investing in Solana, I I don't force or advise you to choose Solana as an investment. The choice is in your own hands. If you are sure about Solana then invest, but if you are not sure, please choose another altcoin, because there are still many potential altcoins in the crypto market. .

I wouldn't say that Solana has a strong community. Rather, it's an "overhyped" cryptocurrency with a huge number of followers behind it. FTX was heavily-invested in this coin, but it ultimately failed. There are rumors the defunct exchange will dump its SOL holdings on the market. This will add negative pressure over the cryptocurrency's short-term price.

Whenever Solana will survive the tide or be left behind in the dust is yet to be seen. I'd choose other alternatives that are much more reliable and decentralized than Solana itself. It's not about speed or cost-efficiency, but rather security/reliability/censorship-resistance. Most people don't care about this, as they're only looking to make a quick buck. It's up to you to determine whenever Solana is a good investment or not. Do your own research, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Who knows if Solana's days are numbered? Just my thoughts ;D

Years ago solana was worth for investment and that already proved. But now so many altcoins are available for investment, those are far better than solana cause Once solana was great altcoin with large number of volume but this year, haven’t notice any innovations that! Could inspire myself to investing in it. But situation could be change when bullRun start cause many still believe in solana. So invest extra money, otherwise not.

bullrun will just make slight change towards solana prices I assume, mainly because the reason solana could go down this far is because the collapse of certain exchange that caused solana get many problems.
there also has been many sign that shown solana has been bearish ever since so I don't have much expectation towards solana honestly.
instead i would definitely make bet on something like the upcoming layer 2 and even layerzero that has shown massive growth towards the community and is rumoured to have upcoming events thats being awaited by many people. heck even rarely right now I see some good quality token being deployed in there, but of course i can be mistaken.

As far as I know, Solana is one of the altcoins that has high popularity, but I think Solana is not the right choice to make a long-term investment, because its golden age is over, currently Solana is not popular altcoin, right, but if you If you have a lot of money, there's probably nothing wrong if you want to try it.
