Title: Creation of differents wallets and reset of HD wallet
Post by: Becassine on April 25, 2023, 08:17:36 PM
Hello,

I still have a lot of questions... Some of them may seem stupid, but never mind ...

If I want to create different wallets with a mnemonic sentence specific to each wallet from an HD wallet, I have to reset the HD wallet each time (for example with a bitbox) ?

To create different wallets on HD wallet like electrum you do not need to reset it, all you need to do is find the option to bring out the list of wallets then click on new, this prompts you to either generate a new seed or import a wallet you already have, or create a watch-only wallet with your public key.

What makes HD wallets different is that it contain multiple addresses linked to a single master private key and provides more privacy with change of receiving addresses and change addresses.

I hope I understood your question fully...

You could have still placed this your question on your first thread that you just created not less than thirty minutes ago. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5450163.msg62148586#msg62148586

I just have to try again to install electrum ... Thank you very much for your answer. (I have problems to install electrum, despite all the good advice, but I'm not very good I think ...)

Indeed, I could list all the questions I have. But I'm trying to keep it organized so that other beginners can easily find the answers if they have the same questions.

And I can also find myself in the answers that will be well arranged too  ;)

However, forum etiquette dictate that all related discussions take place in the same thread. So, if you have multiple questions that pertain to related topics, it's preferable to ask them one by one within the same topic rather than creating a new thread for each question.

For instance, let's say I just replied to your second topic, and now I want to reference it. It is not convenient to do so without opening that topic in a new window and manually searching for the relevant parts in the post. On the other hand, I can easily include quotes from other posts within this thread, making it more seamless and accessible to refer back to previous discussions. I hope you understand what I mean.

I don't know if I understand correctly, but for hardware wallets you need to reset your device and then import new mnemonic seed phrase each time, yeah I know it can be time consuming.
From my research, I think there is only one hardware wallet that enables use of multiple seed phrases in the same time (Cypherock X1), but this device works in much different ways than other hardware wallets.
Some DIY devices however are offering very nice fast import of seed phrases with simple QR code scan.

Sparrow wallet is a good open source alternative, and I think it works just fine in combination with Bitbox and other hardware wallets.
