How do I just cancel it? The wallet I’m using is very old and I want the coins back plz sorry if this is the wrong section If you sent the coin from and exchange then there should be a button or link to cancel it but if it's already sent to the blockchain then I do not think you will be able to reverse it since you do not have the private key of the wallet. You need to wait until the mempool picks up all it's transactions. It will take a while depending on the fees that was set. Title: Re: Btc stuck for hours Post by: Ryker1 on May 07, 2023, 07:50:16 AM You can use RBF to replace the original transaction with a new one that has a higher fee. To do this --you need to create a new transaction with the same inputs as the original transaction but with a higher fee or if you need to cancel it just place the higher fee but a lower amount of bitcoin. The new transaction must also have a higher sequence number than the original transaction. Because when the new transaction is broadcasted to the network, it will replace the original transaction, effectively canceling it in short.
Before making any transaction and to avoid hurrying, always refer to this site [ https://mempool.space ] to see the status of the network, when congested, set into a higher fee. Can you specify this? What exactly did you buy and where did you buy it. With this information we can try to help you better. I think the word RBF terms only refers to a feature in the Bitcoin protocol that allows users to replace an unconfirmed transaction with a new transaction that pays a higher fee --not on altcoins. So I think it is 98% sure OP talking about bitcoin. You can try what BitcoinGirl.Club says about cancelling with Electrum, which I didn't know. I did it long ago, and if I remember correctly then it worked too. Try it. By the way mate, did you just cancel it? I am reading information about it and apparently to cancel one transaction already broadcasted to the mempool you have to: send another transaction that uses the same inputs but spends them in a different way (aka "Double Spend") and hope that the new transaction gets confirmed before the first transaction... but you can't simply make the first transaction "disappear". Title: Re: Btc stuck for hours Post by: BitcoinGirl.Club on May 07, 2023, 08:40:13 AM By the way mate, did you just cancel it? I am reading information about it and apparently to cancel one transaction already broadcasted to the mempool you have to: It's double spending of course. You need to rebroadcast the tx with higher fees. Once you click the cancel button then it will tell you what to do. You don't need any technical knowledge for that. send another transaction that uses the same inputs but spends them in a different way (aka "Double Spend") and hope that the new transaction gets confirmed before the first transaction... but you can't simply make the first transaction "disappear". By the way, when a transaction with lower fees stay around 7 days then the pool automatically drops it. So this is a way to get your transaction disappears. For me this looks more like some test/attack that somebody does.
I think that because the network load jumped pretty quick and is now also going down quickly again. This would not happen if it would just be Normal usage, because then the transaction flow would be much more similar over the weeks. To me this shows that bitcoin at this moment is not what sotoshi wanted it to be. Block size was not adjusted like it was planned, so the network is not capable to have that many users like we have them now. Imagine such a mess with Visa or Mastercard, it’s just unthinkable. At least, that nobody seems to care from the developers. |
