Title: I'm minting Bitcoin White Paper on Blockchain using Ordinals NFT Protocol
Post by: CoffeeKing001 on May 17, 2023, 03:35:02 PM
The project name is: qrpaper
The github link is: https://qrpaper.github.io
The twitter link is: https://twitter.com/qrpaper_sats
The discord link is: https://discord.gg/3MjNRBhuRv

bitcoin whitepaper will start inscribe from 2024/1/3 18:15:05 UTC (#BitcoinFirstBlock 15th 15th 15th years)

## Slogan
Salute to Satoshi, every blockchain project should mint their white paper on Bitcoin.

## Foreword
There is only 600 segment NFT, I want it can be hold by the most core Bitcoin users to enhance the consensus of Bitcoin, it's all free for mint. Follow the twitter and join our discord to get White List. Bitcointalk users is priority to get.

## Significance
As the earliest blockchain, Bitcoin's value mainly comes from consensus, but it is also constantly facing challenges from other public chains. In order to consolidate the value of Bitcoin, we put forward the slogan "Salute to Satoshi, every blockchain project should mint their white paper on Bitcoin", which is not only conducive to continuously strengthening the consensus of Bitcoin, but also It is beneficial for new projects to be understood and accepted by Bitcoin users.

## Introduction
qrpaper converts the white paper into a plain text markdown format,
and after splitting it into sentences, encodes each sentence into a QR code,
signs it and mints it on Bitcoin with Ordinals Protocol for permanent storage.

the theory image is here:
https://github.com/qrpaper/qrpaper/raw/master/docs/img/qrpaper_theory.jpg

the example image is here:
https://github.com/qrpaper/qrpaper/raw/master/docs/img/first_441.png

## Why bitcoin
1. Bitcoin is the first blockchain, it is the chain with the highest degree of consensus and the highest security
2. Bitcoin ordinals protocol, storing all of the NFT data on the blockchain, it would not be lost forever
3. Bitcoin has the largest TVL, minting your project white paper on Bitcoin is very memorable and advantageous

## Why qrpaper
1. qrpaper is the first project who helps users mint their white paper on Bitcoin use ordinals protocol
2. qrpaper optimized the NFT image generation technology, compressed the data size to the limit, it greatly reduced the mint gas
3. qrpaper use qrpaper.sats domain to sign every NFT to ensure no one can fake it
4. qrpaper split and visualized the white paper to qrcode, which has a beautiful style, it is easy to spread
5. qrpaper is governed by community through qp-dao, it's a decentralized project

## qp-dao
next, we will start the qp-dao, everyone who holds the NFT of the three core qrpaper(bitcoin, ethereum and qrpaper) will have the right to join. And you will have the benifits like airdrop, whitelist, vote and so on.

Oh, cool project! I also happen to have a few dozens of white papers from back in the old good days, I believe they were writing them in bulk for a few satoshis, even now you can buy as many as you want, after all it's a simple task of copy pasting.
I could immortalize my scam coins forever after minting them.🤣😉

Why QR codes? That seems like a bad idea. Text would be so much more effective, and it has already been done.

Because, the White Paper sentence format is diverse, there have hyperlink, formula, image and so on. use pure text like loot project is not beautiful and hard to spread. Loot project has fixed fieled and the format is uniform, so it looks not confusion.

I have desiged a QR code, which embeded the big bitcoin logo into it, it looks harmonious, and every QR code has an serial number in the foot of it.

The example and project details can be found here https://qrpaper.github.io/

This project is the only one which could be a very first good use of the useless ordinals protocol but you still ruined the idea my friend. If its main purpose was to save their Bitcoins whitepaper on blockchain as ordinal that would be a really nice step by a community member but your idea is to mint every white paper on Bitcoin blockchain and that's really not a good thing.

There have been many scam projects in the crypto community and some of them had really good whitepapers and in coming days there will be many more such whitepapers that will be mainly focused to scam people, and now with your help they can print a copy of their useless and scamming whitepaper on our beloved Bitcoin blockchain.

With this thing people won't only save a copy of white paper but they can save many useless texts on the blockchain which is no less than a burden on the blockchain. The idea might be good but it can be used for illegal purposes.

Thanks for your admire and your advice!

It's true that there is some scam project, qrpaper as an decentralized project, it will governed by qp-dao community, which can vote to decide to support only the project that are accepted by most of the qp-dao community. And all of the people who hold bitcoin white paper NFT can join this community and vote.

It may can not copied, because every qrpaper NFT is signed and with an unique serial number.

And it use Ordinals protocol, which can ensure the uniqueness and permanency.

Who knows, but it's a good experiment. I think it's good for enhancing Bitcoin consensus and importance in the Crypo World.

Bitcoin Whitepaper does not need to be minted as a NFT. Minting NFT is non sense.

It is readable at https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

Stop using term like Bitcoin Chain. Chain is for shit altcoins, not for Bitcoin. You can use term like Bitcoin blockchain.

Ordinal protocols, BRC20 tokens are useless.
[WARNING] Stay away from BRC-20 tokens - there are far better options (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5451905.msg62211946#msg62211946)

you could probably store the entire whitepaper in a single ordinal. why would someone want to buy a single sentence? i think people already uploaded pdf pages of the whitepaper but not the entire pdf in a single ordinal. but i could be wrong.

What is the sense of all this? Is there a need for it? Would this initiative help Bitcoin grow? Would it boost in any way Bitcoin adoption?

As for me, I'd rather print a hard copy of the Bitcoin whitepaper. Or perhaps download it and save a copy. Or not at all. After all, the whitepaper is always available. You just have to search for it online and it is there.

As a matter of fact, to a certain extent, this whitepaper NFT is a betrayal of the whitepaper itself, of Bitcoin itself. This hampers the very function of Bitcoin as an electronic cash system.

My humble suggestion is to shelve this idea and help ease the network's traffic.

What is the sense of all this?
probably to make money. that's why people do this type of things to sell their creations. and imagine how much money the OP could make. every sentence in the whitepaper is its own nft. how many nfts is that? 500? 1000?

Quote
My humble suggestion is to shelve this idea and help ease the network's traffic.
if the goal was to help people read the whitepaper then it definitely doesn't do that. who is going to scan the hundreds of qr codes so they can read each sentence of Satoshi's whitepaper sentence by sentence.

up next:
make a qr code for each individual satoshi on the bitcoin blockchain. and create an ordinal nft for each one  :o oh wait. that's impossible!

Indeed TXID i mentioned is not NFT. IMO NFT feature isn't needed when someone just need to store arbitrary data on blockchain.

qrpaper use Ordinals protocol, and encoded every white paper sentence into a beautiful QR code, It's tradable and it's easy to spreed.

the example NFT image just like this:

If we're talking about easiness of spreading Bitcoin whitepaper, i could just share one of these links
http://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf (http://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf)
https://archive.is/qnVRb (https://archive.is/qnVRb)
https://web.archive.org/web/20100704213649/bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf (https://web.archive.org/web/20100704213649/bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf)

And you can even convert those link to QR code image easily with any QR code generator.

Yes, it's a good ideal, but there is mainly three reason, which cause me to split it into sentence:

1. mint the whole whitepaper by one person is too expensive
2. hold by many person may more easy to build Consensus
3. every one hold the only one unique sentence may interesting, make people have chance to communicate, which is good for build Consensus community.

Now that there Ordinals was, no one can stop people mint NFT on Bitcoin with Ordinals protocol.

you know, the image which use ordinals protocol always larger than 10KB or 100KB.

But I have optimized the qrpaper NFT image generation technology, compressed the data size to the limit, only about 1~2KB for every qrpaper NFT. It has saved so much resource of Bitcoin network's traffic.

first

We have split it into 600 Sentence now, and we may let all people mint it publicly for free.

Only 30-nfts will be reserved for bitcoin-community(15) and qp-dao building(15)

qrpaper bitcoin nft holders will have the right to join qp-dao and have the benifits like airdrop, whitelist, vote and so on.

details can be found here: https://qrpaper.github.io

second

There is so many people don't have interest to read the whitepaper.

It may be not only help people read the whitepaper, but also help people communicate the whitepaper with fun and the wealth effect.

But the most important is to build the consensus, which encourage every blockchain project mint there whitepaper on Bitcoin. It's good for Bitcoin ecology.

The whitepaper has already been mined in the blockchain sometime in 2014. Just open Electrum and click Help > Download Bitcoin Whitepaper.

We only need so many copies before they too become spam.

Yes, To guarantee the value of every qrpaper NFT, they should only mint on Bitcoin. And we have optimized the NFT image generation technology, compressed the data size to the limit, now the qrpaper NFT image is small enough, it very cheep to mint on Bitcoin, there is no need to use Lightning Network.

...  ???

By minting your asset directly on layer 1 using very cumbersome and bloated text JSON representation, you are paying much more in fees than when you are minting it in binary using Lightning Network. This causes massive (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5437787.0) transaction (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5452219.0) fee (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5453860.msg62294008#msg62294008) hikes (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5452159.0) for everyone else and cancels out all of the space-saving advantages of using native Segwit.

Do you think they will use Bitcoin LN? There moto is to congest the network and again create a panic. We all know what happened a few days back. It will again happen! Wait for it!

I want it can be hold by the most core Bitcoin users to enhance the consensus of Bitcoin.

It's all free for mint. Follow the twitter and join our discord to get White List.

Bitcointalk users is priority to get.
so you're giving away 600 nfts for free? if it was really free without anything to pay then i might take one but if i have to pay anything, no thanks.

OP probably just mix term "tx/transaction fee" with "gas fee". And it's somehow common occurrence based "+gas +fee +bitcoin" on Google search.
so then basically he wants people to pay $10 or $20 to get one of this nft. because that's what the transaction fees been lately. from what i heard.

gas is different than tx fee since with ethereum gas the transaction can fail but you don't get the gas fee back. :o

It's about 6~9$ now, the tx price is about 45 sats/vB, the NFT image Size is 1~2KB. I use https://unisat.io/inscribe

Didn't quite understand what was the point of encoding every white paper sentence in a beautiful QR code? Does this have any practical benefit or does it solve a network problem, for example?

The network was already suffering from high traffic after the release of the Ordinals protocol, and now many of these unnecessary projects will add to the problem.

It's all free for mint. Follow the twitter and join our discord to get White List.

Bitcointalk users is priority to get.

but what's difference someone make copy of the qrcode and reupload it as an ordinal then they have one too.

Every NFT is signed by qrpaper.sats domain name, no one can copy it.

But It seems it's not an NFT and it's not  vivid.

qrpaper use Ordinals protocol, and encoded every white paper sentence into a beautiful QR code, It's tradable and it's easy to spreed.

It can enhance the consensus of Bitcoin, and if every Blockchain project mint their WhitePaper on Bitcoin, then it can keep the most important position in people's mind. So that your Bitcoin can be more valuable.

The github link is: https://qrpaper.github.io
The twitter link is: https://twitter.com/qrpaper_sats

## Introduction
qrpaper converts the white paper into a plain text markdown format,
and after splitting it into sentences, encodes each sentence into a QR code,
signs it and mints it on Bitcoin with Ordinals Protocol for permanent storage.

the example image is here:
https://github.com/qrpaper/qrpaper/raw/master/docs/img/first_441.png

Ok, so you're one of those spammers paralyzing the network with your stupid "whitepaper minting" crap?

Have you thought about people not being able to send and receive payments because of your irresponsible actions? Mint my ass.   >:(

Thanks, that made me laugh and I add to the OP: do your NFT shit on Ethereum. At first I though this is some sort of bullshit bingo contest, throwing around with fancy words in such a concentration that there's real danger they form a black hole. Holy crap, dear OP, what kind of substances did you consume to propose such nonsense?

And you still pretend owning your NFT have impact on consensus, while it doesn't.
did he actually claim that? because if so then that's kind of strange! that would mean all the monkeys could affect consensus too but we know that can't be.

Most of the people think Bitcoin is nonsense years ago. Time can proof it.

And you still pretend owning your NFT have impact on consensus, while it doesn't. On top of that, you doesn't even give explanation how your your NFT could have impact on Bitcoin consensus. At this point, i'll just quote this answer.

For a given network, consensus means achieving a consistent view of the global state between all participants. For Bitcoin, this means that all nodes/wallets should be considering the same utxo set. For Ethereum, it involves all participants having the same state trie. Minor other variations exist for other networks.

Mining and protocol versions are simply means to achieve this consensus - miners are motivated to only select valid transactions (transactions that spend unspent utxos, and meet other validity requirements) as their block will be dropped by other participants in the network if they produce an invalid block.

--snip--

Thanks, this quote inspired me. May be I have not explain clearly.

qrpaper is a NFT project, so the consensus of it just like other NFT project.

At the same time it's good for Bitcoin ecology consensus. Imagine if every new BlockChain project mint their WhitePaper on Bitcoin, it means they all acknowledge Bitcoin as the Base of BlockChain, and this is saluting to Bitcoin.

Could you tell us definition of "ecology consensus"?

Maybe, but NFT part and splitting the data to many tiny parts are completely optional.

I think "ecology consensus" is the consensus of all of the blockchain ecology users, not only bitcoin users. Every blockchain user should admit the core position of blockchian is Bitcoin, forever!

Quote

The reason why I split it is:
1. mint the whole WhitePaper is so expensive for one person
2. let people hold the WhitePaper together conform to the decentralize spirit of Bitcoin
3. let a group people hold it, it's more easy to build a community to make consensus

he's giving them away for free but you still have to pay the transaction fee. not sure how much that would cost but it won't just be small like $5. some of these monkeys they mint onto the blockchain can cost $50.

so basically he wants people to pay to upload these things onto the blockchain. pay the miners.

That's a good business initiative! I suppose there will be increase in the overall power of mining facilities in some time. NFT-Ordinals attack made it clear that there is a lack of mining power now. So all the new mining initiatives, I think, are beneficial nowadays. I hope mining industry will develop into something great!

There is plenty of mining power on the contrary but not enough block space for legitimate transactions.

And no don't think that increasing the block size will fix everything. If all transactions could fit inside a block then there would be no reason to use fees greater than the minimum 1sat/byte and miners revenue will start to suffer which will impact the uptime of their miners.

Why QR codes? That seems like a bad idea. Text would be so much more effective, and it has already been done.

I think QR codes are also fine considering we are moving more towards the digitalized zone and everyone carrying their phone-based QR scanners. It's crazy.

I think OP should take this idea further with the minting of some historical papers too. You know those papers that held importance in human history. Gradually a digital library can be created using this method and thus preserved over blockchain forever. I am not sure if minting it publicly will reduce the value of its ownership and also the auction value but it would be good for forever storage.

The papers like the first signing of independence of America (or any country) with images, or some important document which expose the Nazi deeds and what not. I am not sure if this would be relevant or not but could be another good project OP can think about.

We are looking at several megabytes of data to be inscribed into the blockchain with this method, so you should consider the potential fee spikes your minting will have on normal transactions in the process. Even if its just text data, it's not like you can encode a 100KB text file into a transaction cheaply anymore so that would have to be split up into 100, 1000 transactions. It is better to use RGB or Taproot Assets for this purpose.

Agreed.

If that "Ordinals" idea expects to achieve any viable acceptance, it should be used for implementing something innovative, rather than merely storing something everyone can already read.

i don't think anyone is going to do that because it costs money and your product has no demand right now. there is no market for it. you would be better off promoting it on some nft marketplace where people aren't so skeptical.

you worked hard to make this project so why not promote it someplace where it has a chance because that place is not here i don't think. :o

list your nfts on some bitcoin nft marketplace for free then. see if anyone is willing to pay the transfer fee on that marketplace. because most nfts have a price. no one sets the price to just free.

secondly to cannot make claim of owning the whitepaper.. in any way
