Title: I want to migrate from Trust Wallet to another wallet.
Post by: hack3rcon on May 19, 2023, 03:54:48 PM
Hello,
I want to migrate from the Trust Wallet to another wallet and I have some questions:

1- Which wallet offers similar features and security?

2- I staked some Tron coins in my Trust Wallet, if I import my seed phrase to other wallets, then What happens to them? They staked automatically to the new wallet or I must unstake them before using a new wallet?

3- Can I use two wallets simultaneously?

Please answer my questions briefly and share your experiences.

Thank you.

1. Exodus, Unstoppable.money. Neither of them support staking for tron though.

2. They will remain staked, but you won't be able to see them.

3. Yes, you can do that.

If you choose to migrate to another wallet, all you would need to do is to import your recovery phrase to the new wallet.

Thank you so much for your reply.
The Exodus doesn't support Tron staking?
So, I must unstake my coins first, then use another wallet?

Hello,

1- Which wallet offers similar features and security?

Atomic wallet is your best choice if you want same feature and experience since it supports almost all coins with open source that is much better to trust wallet. It has a built-in staking feature so there’s no need to rely on 3rd party defi apps.

2- I staked some Tron coins in my Trust Wallet, if I import my seed phrase to other wallets, then What happens to them? They staked automatically to the new wallet or I must unstake them before using a new wallet?

It depends on the new wallet that you use if it’s support web3 feature. Remember that your coins ownership is on your private key. So regardless of what wallet are using to stake the coins, You can still access your stake coins on other wallet as long as you use same private key or seed phrase.

3- Can I use two wallets simultaneously?
Yes

No, it doesn't look like the support tron staking: https://www.exodus.com/status/

Well, if you're not interested in keeping them staked, then yes you can go ahead and unstake. If you do switch to another wallet, and keep your funds staked, then nothing will happen to them, you just won't be able to unstake them from this new wallet and you have to do it from Trustwallet instead.

Atomic wallet is your best choice if you want same feature and experience since it supports almost all coins with open source that is much better to trust wallet. It has a built-in staking feature so there’s no need to rely on 3rd party defi apps.

Is it actually open source? I found their github account, but not the wallet's code repository.

I think only Metamask is capable to import the seed from Trustwallet but I do not think it's a safe way to import seed phrases from Trustwallet to Metamask.

If I were you why not create a new wallet on Metamask and send all your funds from trustwallet that's the safest than using the same seed from another wallet.

And if you staked some Tron coins on the trust wallet just leave it there or better use the ledger hardware wallet they do support staking on ledger live.

I staked a coin on Atomic. I import the seed phrase on Trsutwallet, I saw the coin staked but I was not able to unstake the coin. I unstaked it on Atomic wallet.

I staked on Trustwallet, I did not see it on Atomic wallet at all.

I staked on Trustwallet, it gave me problem and I was unable to unstake it which has not happened to me before but once. I import the seed phrase on Keplr, I successfully unstake the coin on Keplr wallet easily.

Atomic wallet is your best choice if you want same feature and experience since it supports almost all coins with open source that is much better to trust wallet. It has a built-in staking feature so there’s no need to rely on 3rd party defi apps.
I do not like Atomic wallet because they are using their own validator. I prefer wallet that have several validators. If anyone want to stake coins like Atom, Osmosis, the best wallet is Keplr.

For staking Tron, I have not gone into details about it before.

Hello,
I want to migrate from the Trust Wallet to another wallet and I have some questions:

1- Which wallet offers similar features and security?
You can move from trust wallet to other wallet. But of course you need to import the seed phrase. But you can use Atomic Wallet and TokenPocket Wallet. You can use this wallet as multi wallet. Very good in terms of security.
2- I staked some Tron coins in my Trust Wallet, if I import my seed phrase to other wallets, then What happens to them? They staked automatically to the new wallet or I must unstake them before using a new wallet?
Since you have Tron staking in your trust wallet, if you use another wallet to import the same seed phrase, you must unstake your Tron from the trust.  Then you can see your Tron balance in your other account.
3- Can I use two wallets simultaneously?
Of course you can use  more than two wallets at the same time. But be sure to keep your wallet seed phrase in a safe place after importing it. Since you will be copying it, don't paste it on Twitter, Telegram, Messenger, etc. That should be noticed first.
Please answer my questions briefly and share your experiences.

Thank you.
I don't use multiple wallets. I am using trust wallet only. But I intend to use Electrum wallet very soon. Since I only hold bitcoins at the moment I decided to use Electrum wallet for more security and for my convenience.

Trust Wallet is good, but my problem is that I sent some Bitgert from CoinEx to my Trust Wallet and my current Trust Wallet version (5.9) doesn't support the new Bitgert network and I can't update my Trust Wallet. I use Android 7.1.1 and I don't know why the new version of Trust Wallet doesn't support my device.

Hello,

Which of the following wallets is better?

1- TokenPocket

3- Guarda
4- Nabox

Your trust wallet is seriously old versioned because the current version of trust wallet is the 7.19.2. It also absurd that your phone isn’t compatible or support it because according to google play, the app is compatible with android phones with versions 6.0+. So you might have to look into your phone again. But if you’re looking for DApps wallet why not use MetaMask or any of the suggested wallets above.

Not familiar with most of these app probably because they aren’t one of the top ones. You can read here about wallets.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.0)

Futures?

In terms of being a multicurrency wallet, maybe unstoppable wallet could be good. In terms of security, I prefer open source to closed source wallets. Unstoppable wallet maybe?

Nothing changes since the staking is done on the blockchain, not the wallet software.

3- Can I use two wallets simultaneously?
yeah, though, it exposes you more to security threats. It's like keeping 2 keys to your house in two different locations in your compound

If you give us your cryptocurrency list that you prefer, the answer will be better, but I will rely that you are looking for the best Android/iOS TRON:

TronWallet: it is an Open Source Secure that supports many options for you as TRON staking.

  • Website: https://www.tronwallet.me/
  • Gihub: https://github.com/gettyio/tronwallet-mobile

IMTOKEN wallet is an easy and Secure Digital Wallet, supports bitcoin and some trading pairs, perhaps a good alternative.

  • Website: https://token.im

You can find more TRON wallet here https://tron.netlork/wallet?lng=en

If you are looking for an alternative to trust wallet Unstoppable.money is the best, it is slow sync and you can find user experiences here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5436273.0.

3- Can I use two wallets simultaneously?
Yes, but importing the same seeds between several wallets exposes you to the loss of your coin, I do not advise you to create new seed for every wallet.

Trust Wallet has not been in my recommendation list since the first time I used that wallet which I almost lost all my coins there for just a transaction. The process is stressful. From the above listed wallets, I only know of coinomi though I have not used it before but most of these wallet has their root trace back to Trustwallet. So if I will answer your question, I will recommend coinomi to you. I will not recommend something that is not even popular. And by the way, coinomi is running a campaign in the forum so I advise you to use coinomi so in case you can even contact them in the forum for further information.

Coinomi wallet is closed source, i will recommend only open source wallets to people because their codes can be verified, there are recommended options like Electrum that is open source, so why should one use a closed source wallet that we cannot verify what goes on behind the scenes or how the keys are generated.

Coinomi wallet aren't running any active campaign on the forum, i think you are making the mistake of thinking Coinomi wallet is the same thing as Coinomize (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5434813.0), which is a BTC mixer.

You need to unstake your Tron to get the staked balance + staking rewards back into your original wallet. It might take a few days for that to happen. After that, your full account balance should become visible elsewhere.
Why not try TronLink if you want to stake Tron? It works for Android and iOS devices.

Separate your bitcoin holdings from your alt and shitcoins. In case your altcoin wallet/s get hacked, your BTC has a greater chance of not getting affected.

Atomic wallet is your best choice if you want same feature and experience since it supports almost all coins with open source that is much better to trust wallet.
Atomic Wallet is not open-source, it's closed-source. It might support open-source cryptocurrencies, but the software code isn't public. I would never use it for my bitcoin or coins I deem important to me. Since OP mentioned Tron and Tron tokens, it could be an option to store those, yes.

And if you staked some Tron coins on the trust wallet just leave it there or better use the ledger hardware wallet they do support staking on ledger live.
Not anymore. Tron is now using a Stake 2.0 system, while Ledger only supports the old Stake 1.0 architecture. The TRX you staked via Ledger will keep collecting staking rewards, but you can't currently do anything with them through Ledger Live. You have to go through TronLink and connect that to your Ledger HW.

Unstoppable wallet maybe?
Unstoppable Wallet offers no support for Tron and Tron-based tokens, so OP can't use it. Not for that asset at least.

Coinomi wallet is closed source, i will recommend only open source wallets to people because their codes can be verified, there are recommended options like Electrum that is open source, so why should one use a closed source wallet that we cannot verify what goes on behind the scenes or how the keys are generated.
OP owns altcoins like Tron. Electrum can't help him for that purpose.

Thank you.

1. There are many wallets that you can choose from and Metamask is one of them, the Klever wallet can be used because it is also under
    Tron, and so on.

2. Of course, since you will transfer your assets to another wallet, you must first unstake it in Truswallet, because you cannot transport it
without unstaking. Also, if you transfer your assets to another wallet, you will also need the seed phrase for import.

3. Of course you can...

I want to migrate from the Trust Wallet to another wallet
A good wish because there are many choices of wallets that are better than Trust Wallet.

1- Which wallet offers similar features and security?
Unstoppable wallet supports many types of coins besides Bitcoin.

2- I staked some Tron coins in my Trust Wallet, if I import my seed phrase to other wallets, then What happens to them? They staked automatically to the new wallet or I must unstake them before using a new wallet?
Importing the Trust Wallet seed phrase still allows them to have access as the owner of the initial seed phrase even though it is not possible for Trust Wallet to do that. Sending coins from Trust Wallet to another wallet is a good option in my opinion.

3- Can I use two wallets simultaneously?
Can. You can still use two wallets simultaneously.

Please answer my questions briefly and share your experiences.
Experience using Trust Wallet?
If yes, then I often experience concerns like no incoming coin notifications.

The problem I often complain about is also while using Trust wallet.
I use many wallets and probably almost all crypto wallets trying to find out which one is better and suitable for me.

I currently use Safepal Mobile Wallet + Hardware Wallet, Bitkeep Wallet, and imToken.
Of the three wallets, both have advantages and disadvantages, but maybe for a more complete network you can use Safepal because it is always updated with many new chains, and also for BitKeep has many features that other wallets do not have such as complete crypto security features.

It would be better to stay away from this one as it is too risky.

I also installed many types of wallets that support android to find out the advantages and disadvantages.
I used imToken for a long time but then I switched to a trust wallet before finally completely forgetting it due to several problems that occurred.

For a while, the unstoppable wallet was very comfortable with me on android although there are several other types of wallets that are just as good.
So far, the wallet that I use to store assets is the Electrum.

imToken seems to be a mobile wallet that many crypto users use, but the features and appearance have no significant updates, still the same without any additions so it's a little boring.  But instead of using a trust wallet, I prefer imToken.

and I also often use Bitkeep and Safepal, but for Unstoppable I haven't used it yet.
I will also try it so that I can know which one might be better and become the main Mobile wallet.

imToken is a well-known wallet among users who own a wide variety of cryptocurrencies. Until now it looks like imToken is still open source.
As for Trust Wallet, you know more about it so there are reasons why you don't want to use it.

IMO, Unstoppable is better than imToken as a wallet that supports more than one coin.
For a mobile wallet, unstoppable is very easy to use.

I haven't used Bitkeep and Safepal so far.

Trust wallet does not seem to have a place for me and imToken is still Open Source but for updating features and others imToken is very slow, the user interface is still monotonous and there are no updates.

Bitkeep is also Open Source and is also a recommendation from me with various features and a fairly better appearance, Security is also complete.

I also tried Unstoppable and as you said this is one of the best crypto mobile wallets with complete chain support, especially Bitcoin and Altcoin.
The appearance is also fresh and makes me choose to use it from now on and the network security feature using Tor Connection, I only found on this Unstoppable wallet.

I'm not going to force anyone who hasn't used Unstoppable to use it.
But people who still use Trust Wallet as a wallet to store Bitcoin, I hope they need to find out by trying to see how Unstoppable wallet is.

But if the duration of stake is elapsed, hope the staked coins will drop in the new wallet.

I'm not very familiar with the staking process but if that's how it worked then yes. If the funds went back to your wallet whenever the staking period ended, then it shouldn't be any different with the new wallet since you're using the same seedphrase/private keys.

In DeFi staking using a centralized exchange like Binance. Few days after the stake duration expired (2 days or so), the staked coins will drop back to your portfolio balance. I don't know about Trustwallet but their is much likelihood that it will happen the same way.

3- Can I use two wallets simultaneously?

You may use as many wallets as you want and there is no restriction to it. I would suggest you transfer your coins to another wallet if you have funds in large quantities. If you have fund in small quantities you may keep them in your trust wallet but make an account on Metamask or unstoppable wallet and in the future deposit your funds in those wallets.

If I were you why not create a new wallet on Metamask and send all your funds from trustwallet that's the safest than using the same seed from another wallet.

Sending your funds from one wallet to another wallet will cost you a transaction fee and if you have a lot of altcoins stored in your trust wallet, sending them through the Ethereum network would mean that you will have to pay a good amount of transactions fee.

You need to explain to the OP how to use as many wallets as you want because many experienced people explain that only one software wallet can be connected to a hardware wallet.

Sending your funds from one wallet to another wallet will cost you a transaction fee and if you have a lot of altcoins stored in your trust wallet, sending them through the Ethereum network would mean that you will have to pay a good amount of transactions fee.
Another alternative is to use the Binance Smart Chain network which is said to be much cheaper in transaction fees than using the Ethereum network.
As far as I know, many altcoin investors use the Binance Smart Chain network to carry out transaction activities.

And if you staked some Tron coins on the trust wallet just leave it there or better use the ledger hardware wallet they do support staking on ledger live.
No you're wrong, Trustwallet uses BIP39 seeds and standard derivation paths, so you can import Trust wallet seeds in most standard wallets. I've recently imported seeds from Trust wallet in an altcoin wallet (FUN token wallet) and I got back all my funds from the Ethereum blockchain and the Polygon one. I've also imported the seed in Metamask and it worked smoothly too.
