Title: Today is Bitcoin Pizza Day.
Post by: Coin63$ on May 22, 2023, 09:31:34 AM

18th May 2010 143rd member of the BitcoinTalk forum, Laszello Honeys, posted on the BitcoinTalk forum that he wanted some pizza for which he would give 10,000 Bitcoins. Incidentally, there has yet to be a public transaction in Bitcoin's history in which people have purchased anything in the real world.

I want you to know about its importance and significance.

Inaccurate. People use Bitcoin to buy and sell goods and services every day. There isn't any reason for these transactions to be publicized in the media/forums like the Bitcoin pizza transaction because that event was the first time that Bitcoin was traded for something in the real world. Investopedia (https://www.investopedia.com/what-can-you-buy-with-bitcoin-5179592) recognizes use-cases of Bitcoin for goods and services, listing car dealerships, and stores such as jewelers, tech providers, e-commerce and more. It's no longer a question as to whether Bitcoin can be used to buy real-world items or not. It's already established.

People are using bitcoin for payments very well, but people are celebrating pizza day because the day was the first known bitcoin trade.

You want us the know the importance of bitcoin? Did you know that this forum was created by bitcoin founder, and that pizza trade conversation was on this forum.

you are wrong. in fact, many people have bought goods using Bitcoin now. you can see countries like El Salvador where they allow their citizens to shop using Bitcoin, and many other examples. so it's wrong if you say that nowadays nobody buys things with Bitcoin.

I love to read these old historical topics, the ones that remain and see how lightly OP wrote:

So nobody wants to buy me pizza?  Is the bitcoin amount I'm offering too low?

I just think it would be interesting if I could say that I paid for a pizza in bitcoins :)

Haha for sure Laszlo can say he paid for a pizza with btc, and pretty sure he won't forget it  ;D

Happy Pizza Day my dear Bitcoiners friends  :)

Bitcoin Pizza Day, which falls on May 22 every year which makes it unique and historic, is where the first transactions using Bitcoin as a means of payment began in the history of the development of crypto currency. This event also highlighted the progress and widespread adoption of Bitcoin as a globally accepted form of digital currency. as a digital asset.

Im late with the news previously just saw a facebook post related to the person who sells a 10k bitcoin just for a pizza and this man really gives a huge impact to us it serves as a part of the history of the whole bitcoin itself.  I tried to check if the account are still visiting in the community and as per checking in the Bpip.org it shows the user is inactive for 5 years feels sad we didn't make an update up to the recent time.

I don't know why people create an anniversary of regret.
The regret shouldn't be remembered
we shouldn't repeat it again.

If today someone bought pizza with 0.0004 BTC will get the anniversary Bitcoin Pizza Day on 18 May 2034

It is amazing to see the price change in 13 years, it is a crazy rise and you may rarely find that the price of Bitcoin was different from the price in the past.
I hope that we will go beyond the prices during the first 3 years and start comparing after 2013, given that from that point the price began to gain value and from that point we will find a good rise in Bitcoin every year.

Buy a pizza today, enjoy it, you may have lost more than $10,000 if you used its value to buy bitcoin.

Everyone talks about the person who sold that pizza, but no one knows who bought it.
His name is Jeremy Sturdivant and he noticed when he was 19 years old a strange request on this forum. Sturdivant filled the request, and sent him two large pizzas (cheese and "superior") from Papa John's but unfortunately he didn't keep them and used them to travel after a while.

You can read the details of the story and the sources here: https://nypost.com/2021/05/24/bitcoin-pizza-guy-who-squandered-365m-has-no-regrets/

Quote
“I had no idea how huge it would become,” Sturdivant said. But despite losing out on boundless riches, the now-30-year-old said he is “proud to have played a part” in the “global phenomenon.”

It is the first recorded case, but this does not preclude that someone had carried out similar deals.

Why do you call this an anniversary of regret?
Even Laszlo himself when  interviewed said he is not regretting his action till today. Moreover, he has made a history that would be remembered for years, but some people who had such amount of bitcoin then might have lost theirs to one thing or the other. So this is an anniversary of fame and not of regret.
Laszlo Hanyecz is among the heroes of bitcoin.

Well for some its the value of bitcoin now they are regretting for those pizza bought. But for some reason, even the person who did this didnt actually regretting it. Well its because its one of the early success of bitcoin as peer to peer transaction in the real world and its been used to purchase a pizza. Its worth before snt that much but the thought of using this. If Satoshi might be alive he could definitely give it back to Laszlo for doing that as a gift or commemoration . Just a thought

The reason why some people say different things about the transaction is not doint enough research which results in saying that they regret it. The value of BTC before is not the same as of now and you can say that 10000 BTC at that time is around $40 and it only reach high value when BTC reach its new ATH. You can read it online that he himself did not regret of doing it and if someone bought pizza with BTC then it would only be a commemorate to the event.

Thank you for letting us know about this. Bitcoin pizza day had been one of the remarkable celebration of Bitcoin which had cut the international attention and making people to be aware of the event that happens many years ago. This celebration is making a lot of us to be wise and not make such a mistake that was made few years ago and I know some other persons would have made this same mistake too because they never believe in the future price of Bitcoin. This same thing will happen in 10 to 15 years coming when we all might be blaming ourselves why we never hold our Bitcoin for as long as many years.

Laszlo full filled the purpose of bitcoin, he used the bitcoin to make real-world transaction. And it is not the only real world transaction it is the first recorded or I might say most viral transaction of Bitcoin till now. Maybe we think that he regrets that decision but I think buying those two pizza made him known to the world as a bitcoin pizza guy.

Because you will actually have an idea of the value of the Pizza as time goes by when the price of Bitcoin is increasing, it's a good promotional actually, in fact, I successfully invited three friends to look at Bitcoin because of this event while we were eating pizza, and as we celebrate this big event we can look back and see how far Bitcoin has gone over the years.

Actually if you listen to his interviews he has said that he didn't regret it because at that time he was asking if someone could help him to buy two pizzas for which he offered 10k bitcoins so he could feed his family. We are making it big scenario because now the prices are too high which would have make him millionaire but at that time it was not worth much and also the sender of two pizzas sold the coins for much less value as already posted above. They are not in regret at all and we also should not think in that way.

What if the opposite has happened and price would have dropped significantly or even not in use by now so would we have remembered him? The main aim was making transactions and Laszlo contributed well to it and now we celebrate this day in our own manners which is main part.

The significance of Bitcoin Pizza Day is very important, if Lazlo Hanycez hadn't bought pizza for Bitcoin that day, we might not be seeing this day in history today. But before every great work, something has to be sacrificed, maybe Lazlo Hanycez has already done it. Today we have a day to be proud of him where we remember him with respect.

May 22, 2010 will be a day to remember for all. Because on this day a person made one of the biggest mistakes. He bought only two pizzas for 10,000 BTC. And we are celebrating his day after 13 years. If he had bought pizza with their country's currency back then and kept his bitcoins, his life would have changed in the present. No person wants such a day to come in their life.
