Hello,

I always been just investing over the years and never really ever used any type of dapps at all. I only ever used trust wallet dex feature. I was just wondering how should I go about learning how to use them correctly? Also, any safety concerns or anything that I should be aware off? I would like to try some type of defi or anything else that would be useful to try/learn/use etc.

Make sure you did not use or connect any unknown, unpopular, or unverified dApps. If you just want to learn, stick with popular platforms, like Uniswap/PancakeSwap, and AAVE. And about DEX, only try popular tokens, not some token that anyone is not aware of.

One thing to bear in mind, just in case you join their own social media communities, be aware of scammers that pretend to want help you, usually they are messaging you in DM instead of on the public chat group.

Since metamask has incorporated a more secured feature when interacting on dapps. Your problem would be lessen.

If you are gonna start only. Only with verified dapps. But as long ad you explore on new and unfamiliar dapps, you need to make sure that you are into right website letters by letters cause scammers find a way to make it looks like the real one.

Also use revoke cash app to disconnect your wallet from previous dapps that has record of transaction or interactions.

Feel free to use many dapps. There are a lots of them now and some of them are really helpful on defi and monitoring.

There isn't much about "how to use Dapps correctly".

Dapps are just apps which run in a decentralized plataform. There are many kinds of Dapps, from DEX to games.

Games are usually very boring, like Cryptokitties or something else NFT related. Basically, all Dapps so far are focused on financial transactions somehow, as even NFT are most used to speculate and make money.

When you use Dapps, you have to use them carefully like using Internet. If you connect your wallet to malicious Dapps, interact with malicious smart contract, you will lose your coins.

You should be aware of what Dapps are. Dapps are nothing crazy, just decentralized apps built for Crypto services or mostly for Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and other cryptos.
Metamask is a wallet that will help you to connect your wallet with a decentralized app.

Also, OP, do not connect your wallet to any website. If it have a malicious smart contract behind the scene, it can drain out balance from your wallet. So be safe.

Incorporated a "more secured feature" for interacting with Dapps, whatever it means, is safe enough for you? Unfortunately as long as Metamask won't be a standalone application it will remain not fully safe. And it's always better to keep a browser dedicated to its use.

The WalletConnect feature is very easy to use, you just need to flash a QR-code(or to manually enter the string of the code) and to confirm the connection.

They have secured feature like a warning before your interact or approved transaction on dapps before going through it especially if they detected its a malicious one. Well I guess its safe enough for me. So far dont know which altcoin wallet could be better than metamask. Yes not fully safe, maybe you could suggest one besides it which is like 100% safe and secure. Though its will depends on someone habit how he can protect himself from unwanted dapps that are made by scammers.

I guess I remain safe from thieves since I was careful on dapps as well and not easily caught up with lousy one.

The problem with Metamask is that it's not a standalone software but a plugin, it means it can corrupt the browser used and steal informations such as passwords, seeds, private keys, email addresses, phone numbers, 2fa keys or replace receiving addresses displayed for example. But it can also be corrupted by the browser in order to steal informations entered into it. Backdoors can be implemented in one version(of the plugin or the browser) and disappear in the next one, in order to avoid being spotted. That's why I don't like plugins.

Its just that most dapps supported this and some new one only support metamask like the sale Ive joined Polygon network. Its a dapp and new one and they only used metamask for the sale. I have a whitelist spot there and got a 20% discount. Its not like I dont want to use metamask, especially in dapps its the most required one to use. Anyway thanks for the heads up.

It sounds a bit contradictory when you have known this market for many years, I think it is because you have not really paid attention and only invested through CEX.

I just remind you try to be careful with any sites, so many unsafe dapps right now that can be a trap caused by it was being created by scammers. It must be noted if you can interact only with legit dapps. no reason to connect your metamask to the suspicious site.

It's caused by once you were doing it and it's pretty much the same like giving authority for scammer to access your wallet.

The internal code (smart contracts) of Dapps applications runs on a decentralized network, not on a centralized server. These applications use the Ethereum blockchain for data storage and smart contracts for their algorithms.

My advice is to use verified dApps. But don't use all verified dApps. It's very simple and very easy to do, unless you want to try experimenting looking for and learning some dApps to get a new experience.

If you only plan on trying, use verified dApps since there are a lot of dApps now that can steal you money. You can  use the interet  to search more  information about the dApp you plan to use and you can also find tutorial on youtubr or other platform on how to use it. It's simple but there's really so much to consider especially if you plan to try unverified ones. Interacting with it will be easy as you repeatedly doing it but yeah always be careful.
