Title: Individuals attached to Bitcoin history
Post by: Ambatman on June 01, 2023, 12:47:08 PM
This thread was created to discuss about Bitcoin history based on the people attached to its adventure and to share the stories of individuals that have contributed and encouraged Bitcoin growth. I can't really surf the internet for all, I believe it would be easy if contributions are added.

There are already popular guys like GameKyuubi the Creator of Hodling(HODL), laszro the first person to make transaction on the Bitcoin blockchain and Lot's more. Would like to kick this off by talking about Wences Casares . Casares wasn't convinced of Bitcoin claims and hired security teams for $500000 to hack the bitcoin blockchain around 2010. After 6 months of having No result he gave up and became a Bitcoin evangelist, ironic that he even created a Bitcoin security firm Xapo.
Contribution will be appreciated. It shouldn't be a wall of test something concise and straight forward.  Thank you

Dear op, your efforts are appreciatable as you want to gather information from the origin of BTC but let me tell you that a thread is already made on it which is comprised of all the ironic events after the beginning of BTC deployment.

  • The most iconic bitcointalk threads. History on Bitcointalk (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4322078.0)
This topic is great for a newbie to start recognizing the history of BTC and how things have went back then and how people tackled them. I found this thread really amazing for me as i came to know about it a few months ago and i am on this forum for more than 3 years.

But if you still want to gather other's opinions here on this topic then please try to continue some unique ones which are not already covered in my mentioned thread.

There are already popular guys like GameKyuubi the Creator of Hodling(HODL)
It's there I AM HODLING (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0). GameKyuubi (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=26945)
HODL (Coinmarketcap Glossary) (https://coinmarketcap.com/alexandria/glossary/hodl)
Terminology (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=126798.0)

Quote
laszro the first person to make transaction on the Bitcoin blockchain and Lot's more.
Write it correctly please. laszlo (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=143), not laszro.
  • Pizza for bitcoins? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137.0)

laszlo is not a person who made a first Bitcoin transaction. It's a transaction from Satoshi Nakamoto to Hal (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2436) Finney.
  • Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155054.0).

Are you trying to make a list of people who contributed to the early development of bitcoin? Start with people who were there from the beginning like Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, Gavin, or Sirius. There's a number of early bitcoin developers you might be interested in, just google the phrase. The (drunk) creation of the HODL word is really not that important compared to what some developers did for bitcoin.

If we want to highlight those people who really made contributions to Bitcoin, then I think we should take several steps back prior to the creation of Bitcoin. Bitcoin didn't come from nowhere. Accordingly, Bitcoin is the end result of a 40-year development process. Credits go to the likes of Wei Dei, Nick Szabo, E. Hughes, Phil Zimmerman, David Chaum, Adam Back, Hal Finney, and others. They all form part of Bitcoin's rich history.

I don't know who the guy is since the thread creator is anonymous. For your info, it was possible to write a post on the forum anonymously. I'm talking about the Legendary thread- I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=12156)
Can you imagine how much his forecasting capability was? He was so confident, so sure about the domination of Bitcoin. He mentioned in his post that even with 10 Bitcoin, you are going to be a very wealthy man. Well, at ATH, 10 Bitcoin were worth $690000. I don't have any idea how much this sum means to well-developed countries like the USA, and Canada but here in my local, it means a lot. 90% of the total population doesn't have this amount of money. He was able to speculate the future and it happened. For me, this is the most Legendary thread in the forum. Everytime I read the thread, I feel goosebumps.

I suppose that all the famous individuals in any marketing field are people, whose influential role is highly overestimated. They are not "superhumans", there are thousands of people who stand behind them (PR-managers, security, financial staff etc). There are no such individuals who can successfully control other people on their own. All the "famous individuals" are just brands created by large companies.

I just take a look at that transaction and i find out that Satoshi actually paid 50.00 bitcoin as a network fee at that time, this amount is worth a lot right now.

Thanks for sharing this link again, indeed this is the real history attached to Bitcoin and I am sure this comment meets the requirements for this thread even though it was for correction.

Aside Satoshi who have created his efforts in developing a decentr digital currency called bitcoin, we also have a number of researchers, coders, cryptographers and cypherpunks who have also contributed in many ways along the development of this digital currencies and technology, one of the most prominent person is Hal Finney, who is very close to Satoshi Nakamoto and happens to receive the first bitcoin transaction from Satoshi, they have worked in hands and join in collaborative efforts tothe success of bitcoin today.

Erik Vorhees. He was the dude behind satoshidice and he sold it for 126k bitcoin, obviously he doesn't have it all now and spent it on a lot of startups and that's understandable, people that high usually do not stop and just retire with a mojito in their hands at Bahamas, they keep working.

Still, that money is about 3.7 billion today, he must have a lot less than that, and he distributed some of that even that day because he had shareholders, but he must be pretty rich anyway. After that he kept on doing stuff, like coinapult, shapeshift, bitinstant, and some other stuff he invested. So we could consider him as one of the first successful entrepreneurs in the crypto space, he did what everyone would love to do and achieved it so early on.

In early months of Bitcoin history, selling bitcoin to have physical things like pizzas is very famous story but many other stories which don't know by many people.

Like this one
  • Raw Thai Honey for Bitcoins, another classic just after Bitcoin Pizza trade! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405962.0)
  • That member ended as a scammer but some deals for raw Thai honey pots were completed successfully. It should be in recorded in Bitcoin history.

We can not deny that those ones are parts of Bitcoin history.
  • Legendary profiles of bitcointalk. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3247239.0)
  • List of Major Bitcoin Heists, Thefts, Hacks, Scams, and Losses (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576337).
  • VIP and donator members (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5208979.0) in Bitcointalk are history of both the forum and Bitcoin community

In my mind there are 2 groups of people in the Bitcoin story and many many individuals
collectively who are attached to Bitcoins history story, I kind of categorise them as:

Pre Bitcoin - because they no doubt had an influence on Satoshi's development of Bitcoin.
I created a thread already about these early cryptographers >
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5217348.msg53597623#msg53597623

Bitcoin - those involved between Bitcoins launch in 2009 and today.

The most notable early people have already been mentioned.

Another which should be added is:
Mark Karpelès - the CEO of MtGox, the destruction of MtGox is massive in Bitcoins history
and while not exactly being a hero like Satoshi or Hal what happened to that exchange is very notable

Bitcointalk history of MtGox and how a Bitcointalk post caught the MtGox hacker. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4412667.0)
