Didn’t realize there was so many of these Bitcoin movies out there.

I remember the first time that Bitcoin was mentioned on television was a show called The Good Wife. And this was very very early like 2012 or so. I am actually surprised they decided to use Bitcoin since it was so new. It probably brought fame due to that one episode.

I wasn't aware that there are many documentaries available on different topics concerning Bitcoin.So are they all available on YouTube or any other platform? I have seen it's reference based in some movies but little or say 1-2 dialogues about it but haven't watched short movie on it.So will try to see them and observe what they have tried to convey through it to the audience.

There are quite a number of movies where you would have heard  the mentioning of bitcoin but the whole movie is not focused on bitcoin while some would have a lot to say about cryptocurrency in general since bitcoin falls under same category, but from the list OP has given us here, am not familiar with anyone from the list and this may be due to my lack of committed time to watching movies but if the list i can see truly exist and talks about bitcoin then am going to give some trial in watching some, i could also get some taughts from there in addition to what I've known before.

Are all of these really movies about bitcoin? I think Ive seen some scenes on movies that were mentioned bitcoin and even on series.

Thats a lot of researching. For sure there will be some movies whom acted by famous actors that will hit the real idea of bitcoin and people will see its meaning. One thing to spread of bitcoin knowledge is through film so i am hoping there would be a high quality movie that will show the world how bitcoin works. This is good if some big actors or actress would play a role for this so viewers would actually watch it.

I thought it was just a clickbait since common movies are 1 hour long. But dang I clicked the links and find out there's a lot of sources of Bitcoin movies that are actually free. These list are so many so it took a long time to gather these information so salute to the OP. I always find a series or movies mentioning Bitcoin so I think it is a good advertisement to Bitcoin as well like the series Euphoria. Since the girl (Kat) want to receive some payment anonymously so her fans used Bitcoin so she took advantage for it without revealing her identity.

Unfriended Dark Web is also a good one to watch where dark web and cryptocurrency is involve. It's thrilling and kinda gross to watch since murder and other disturbing things that happens in the dark web is there. It's story is about a guy or a girl I can't remember it well but they found a laptop in a cafe where the guy works and they opened it out of their curiosity. The laptop has a cryptocurrency wallet that has a lot of money so they are having second thoughts to return it to the owner.

And that's where their nightmare begins when they explored the laptop files.

It won't be long we shall see those kind of movies that its story is solely related to Bitcoin. Some series I have see on netflix has those sc nes where BTC was somehow discussed though.

The very recent I hve seen was the BEEF series which the main character lost money thru trading and hes pretty much  broke for the rest of it. Not a very fun stuff but a funny movie.

The ones above are documentaries related to Bitcoin. The ones that I have watched was the 2nd. The end of money as we know it.  

The Ross Ubricht Silk Road documentary was more interesting to me actually. Its also avaliable on youtube afaik.

To be honest, I didn't know that there were so many Bitcoin movies. That's impressive! I've seen about two or three of them so far, and I think one of them is also available on Netflix. "Trust No One" isn't on the list, but it was a good movie. I've also watched "Banking on Bitcoin" which is a really interesting film.

IMHO, movies related to Bitcoin are really good because they can help people learn about it through these documentaries and maybe even inspire them to start investing in Bitcoin and crypto. It's like promoting Bitcoin and crypto in general through movies which is great because I'm sure many people enjoy watching movies and would like to discover new things each time.

The bitcoin was reached the most of the people and it’s the reason for the concept choose in the film.We can expect more movies in the upcoming years,then the price of the bitcoin will increase to the five times of now.The bitcoin was mentioned in 2012 will be unique because of the less adoption and investment.But the people from all around the world had their investments in the bitcoin.With my knowledge nearly 60 percentage of world population will have their investments in the cryptocurrency and in bitcoin.

The bitcoin related movie I have watched and also enjoyed is 9lives. Although the movie was not all about btc but there was some scene that the producer made btc to be known. Am not good at analysing movies but anyone who have seen that movie will get what I mean. I was really impressed to see how btc was portrayed in the movie.

First one talks also about Silk Road saga.

Third one is first Bitcoin documentary made in Asia and many iconic figures appear in the film, such as Jihan Wu or executives of ViaBTC or other Asian crypto exchanges. Perhaps the most fascinating character from this documentary is a trader, whose face and voice are obscured, which brings more mystery to the movie. Among others, this trader also explain how he made his "first barrel of gold".

Wow...this is great,I never knew that there are a lot of movies and documentary on bitcoin. I have only watched one of the movie that bitcoin was mentioned because it was related to money. With all these films mentioned by OP,it shows that bitcoin has gained its ground and nothing can shake it,even with any new government policy on crypto because there is already high interest on bitcoin. I will take my time to watch Dark Web so that I can understand what it is all about,since I hardly have time for films and I am not a movie freak. The movies will speak louder than voice and people from different place will also watch the movie and that is how bitcoin awareness spreads.

Yes. Everything you have stated above is an information medium as a learning effort and raises the topic of BTC even though various views were born about Bitcoin, sometimes the response after watching this film is a positive and skeptical view.

It is true that there are many movies about bitcoin, but there is not a major work that resonates with the world about Bitcoin's place in the financial community in the world.
Hopefully in the near future there will be a movie that does this, the role of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will become larger and larger because many institutional investors and governments of many countries have joined the game in large numbers.

I'm surprised that there are so many movies about bitcoin, and looking at some of the comments, I can somewhat understand some of the issues about whether they are really talking about bitcoin, or just using bitcoin as a gimmick. any other. Media, entertainment, education abound, and the fact that bitcoin is appearing more and more in the places we observe is a somewhat positive signal, but does not mean that the information is there. share with the right goal, many things only distort the view of those who are new and outside of the field.

You just need to search bitcoin and then add movies or documentary to your search engine and you would be given out the results that you're looking for. I doubt that you're really surprised because bitcoin's been around for a decade and I don't think that content creators and filmmakers will pass up on bitcoin as a theme of their documentary or movie. You needn't worry about the distortion of information, there's a lot of smart people out there that can filter out the bad information about bitcoin.

They're not movies OP, most of the titles that you've listed are documentaries and they're pretty different from a movie, it's just semantics though so who cares? Right? I recommend watching the Bitcoin Gospel, hard to watch if you are close minded because it talks about the negatives and suspicions that many detractors have pointed out over the years but all in all it's a good documentary. Accidentally watched that documentary while scrolling through my social media account.

Do you want to know if bitcoin is accepted in many places and areas of life and business? You need to capture information every day about bitcoin. Just because bitcoin is mentioned in a movie doesn't mean it's popular, the two have nothing to do with it. Filmmakers aim to take advantage of dramas, scandals, or hot events to make movies, and profit is what they aim for. They are not good enough to make a propaganda movie about the popularity of bitcoin.

You are reasoning with your own point of view, and you have stood in the position of different people while talking about this issue, don't take the matter from your own point of view but see the reality of it, I don't have the intention will have to explain it to you better, because I think the experience is different but it will also be realized how the problem is.

Also, what reality are you talking about? I just said in the quote that I doubt that you're really surprised, I do agree with you on the experience though.

What arguments are you talking about? What contradictions? The stuff that I've only talked about is that I doubt your reaction to the plethora of media that has bitcoin as the center of the theme or the story and the easing of your worry about information distortion. Also, I wasn't recommending that documentary to you, it's a general recommendation.

I see relatively Bitcoin movies on YouTube. He helps you understand how Bitcoin moves and not only BTC and other cryptocurrency. They release some video about cryptocurrency daily and weekly. There are a large amount of well-made crypto factual that have always been released on the YouTube.

There are a lot of movies about BITCOIN and cryptocurrencies but can you guys with more experience tell newbies like me what movies to watch to understand more about crypto and how to make money from this market?

Jimmy Zhong is a user and hacker who exploited Silk Road and successfully got many bitcoin from it.

If you are here to make money by trading and investing, then movies about bitcoin is not the thing for you. At least hollywood movies who might portray BTC in the wrong way like being used by criminals and the underground like dark market.

There are a lot of crypto movies being filmed. Bitcoin has come a very long from mentioning it in passing in movies to finally making a whole movie and docuseries on it. I would like to a real life bitcoin movie about bitcoin and El Salvador. I don't just want a documentary or interview based film, I want a whole movies that has fiction and non-fiction embedded in it. Looking to South-America movie directors and scriptwriter to take a cue.

Trading is not what I recommend but if anyone want to trade and learn about trading.

Documentary films are good because they respect facts and reflect it neutrally enough. It can be better than live videos from influencers on social media which don't neutrally reflect what happen in society. Influencers only make live videos on what they like or hate, they lack of neutral balance.

With documentary films, you will get some overview information around events in the film as well as some insightful remarks. It is helpful information but you must draw your own conclusion with information from documentary films.

If you want to understand more about bitcoin, we have available documents, youtube videos that explain everything about bitcoin in detail and clearly.  why don't you go to them, why waste time looking for a movie about bitcoin?  to be honest, I have no interest in bitcoin movies because its purpose is not to propagate bitcoin to people but producers are taking advantage of its popularity to make movies with the desire to bring in revenue for them. 
If you really want to learn about bitcoin you should be serious about it, a documentary or a cartoon about bitcoin is never a good way to learn about it.

I don't like seeing movies, even when my girlfriend persuades me to the cinema, nothing actually interests me. But seeing this description, I am overly interested to see this movie. Who knows it could be the beginning of me liking videos so that at my leisure I will actually have a good time with my girlfriend.

This will also make my girlfriend develop interest in bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I know if I start watching bitcoin related movies, she will gradually join me and her bitcoin knowledge will surely increase.

Op, you made a nice compilation and I wish this thread will be alive for people to always discuss. Many people will like to see a full bitcoin movie.

These movies have to be interesting to watch if not it will still not attract people to watch it to the end to actually here more mentions of bitcoins. If the movies are not worth watching, people can easily loose interest from the beginning.

Just as there are more movies now generally on LGBT to condition people into accepting it because it has now been accepted as normal by very influential countries, If big countries accept bitcoins, producers of movies will be indulged to include bitcoins in most of the movies, and there will be more mention of bitcoins in movies that they will produce later on, and that will promote acceptance.

Am a not a movie type of person as I do prefer reading books and to say the truth, I have very limited knowledge about Bitcoin movie and the Bitcoin cartoon was the first one I actually watch and even that one was because I came across the  reference from the forum here. I know Bitcoin has come a long way and it's growth is leading to different areas so seeing all these development is actually normal but I feel most of these movies can potray Bitcoin as a bad influence since most people just want to kill it.

Researching about bitcoin can be found in various types of media so it is nice to have an actual list of movies and documentaries that mentions or touches bitcoin in a way. Also, may I suggest Unfriended: Darkweb, it touches on the darkweb and crypocurrency, although it a relatively bad light but still a good watch.

Out of all the movies mentioned so far, I have only come so close to seeing 'Deep web'. Although I didn't get to have the patience to wait for the introductory part because I was rushing to meet up a deadline, now the name has resurfaced, I am sure my interest has been renewed.
BTC has become a name that the old and young has got familiar with. As long as one has had interaction with different humans since birth till this current day, or has digital devices or technology to listen to or view from, then there's the chance they have come across the word, term or name, BTC.

bitcoin is become something that really trendy, it is good for the growth of bitcoin adoption. I didn't know that the number of movie which include bitcoin in it's content is that many, but it seems that many of that movies are serious. I hope there more various genre on that list so the information about bitcoin will spread among various people. include bitcoin in comedy, horror or romantic genre seems not so relevant but if the story is good then I think there is no problem.

These are not films, they are documentaries, but you can understand that from the context. I've seen some of the older ones, thanks for the list OP, I've seen that there are some newer ones less than a year old, I'll take the opportunity to watch them.

Those "movies" or should I say "documentaries" are very helpful for those newbies to learn something about Bitcoin.
It's like these if you're a newbie, and you want to learn the basics of Bitcoin, these are the ones that you need to watch. Now if you want to make money, these videos aren't the ones that you need. Find another set of videos where the topic is about how to make money from Bitcoin.

When I was still starting, some of the documentaries that you've shared OP are the ones that I had to watch, and I had to watch each of them multiple times so that it will stick to my mind. I don't know, but is documentaries and movies the same because most of the videos that OP shared are more of a documentary than a movie. Anyway, I recommend all of the newbies out there to at least watch those documentaries multiple times, focus on watching, and as much as possible do it alone so that you can focus on the video because most of the contents of the documentaries there will help you in the long run.

I think I'll go back in watching educational videos again especially the ones that some shared here. :)

And, curiously the thread has the title "movies" but most are documentaries, I don't know all of them, but curious is that the film that refers to the forum and perhaps one of the most notorious cases is not there, Silk Road:..., available in prime. 

Obviously none of the ones I mentioned are free to use or available on YouTube, but it's worth mentioning.

Not really into short-form documentaries about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies but I found "but how does bitcoin actually work" by 3blue1brown which you can watch  here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBC-nXj3Ng4) to be the most in-depth and interesting bitcoin video out there. Tackled everything you need to know about computing and bitcoin, how it works on a fundamental level, which gives every newbie an in-depth journey in the inner works of bitcoin so they can gain proper understanding of how it works. It's also a little dumbed down by removing most of the hard to understand jargons which is really great for people like me who's not that keen when it comes to stuff that is a little hard for me to grasp in one go.

My favorite is ... "Bitcoin: The End of Money As We Know It" - because it came at a perfect time, when Bitcoin were stagnating. The movies mostly concentrate on the negative side of the Bitcoin use case, where it is associated with money laundering / hackers and crime.  ::)

I think The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin is the only Bitcoin movie I’ve seen. While the documentaries are cool and it is awesome to see members of this forum having their contributions shown, I get more excited when I see Bitcoin make an appearance in more popular culture and movies. Shows like The Simpsons have featured BTC quite frequently and that’s always cool.

Thanks for sharing the list. Yes if we watch the films then we will gain more knowledge about the coins. But if we actually see it through a cinephile’s view then these movie lacks screenplay that we expect from a full length movie. This title can be edited to “The most worth watching Bitcoin Documentaries “. The direction style is more like documentary than a normal movie. Nevertheless thanks once again, I am sure many newbies will learn at least something from these movies.

There is a lot of people talking about bitcoin, a lot of information about it. However, for a newbie like me and other newbies, the application of bitcoin in technology, life is still a vague thing. Hopefully in the near future bitcoin will be more practical in practice. Bitcoin is a medium of storage, a new technological advance or whatever. Experts give us more information.

Thank you, it's true that bitcoin movies starring famous celebrities who have a big influence on most of us are needed for bitcoin movies to reach more people. The movie in which the content is professionally built with a more complete plot. The films I mentioned above are mostly short documentaries, so it's a bit dry and little known.
