I would be, But to be honest, Pricing in the UK would be difficult to be competitive.

What I mean is, I have hosting of units in U.S.A, Damoh (India) and  South korea, The most they pay is £0.075 P/KWh, In My house I pay £0.23 (medium of day/night rate) Then obviously charge a bit for hosting.

I would love to have some units close to me, I.E. same country. Pencil some ball park figures, I might bite.

well I might be interested to host some machines, but eventually it all comes down to the price you're charging.

ok well that gives me something to work with
£0.23 is very high for house prices
I pay £0.13 at the moment at my house
lol

You really need to switch energy suppliers :o

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub

or

http://www.uswitch.com/gas-electricity/

Home for me is 12.5p fixed for the next 3 years with scottish power.

pjcltd
I'm sure you'll have lots of interest as machines get larger and power consumption on them increases they will soon be beyond home use.

Yes, I got screwed, And the only way to contact them is via a web interface of 200 char or less, LOL

I am moving in a month or two anyway, I have seen some good deals, I like to pay for what I use, Not what I might use in the next 12 months LOL.

Sorry for off topic   ;D

ok this is good
what i need to know is what you would like us to offer

I know that might seem a bit strange but if i go back to the management
and say theres a market for this I'm going to get ask all sorts of questions.
So lets try and get it right first time  (if we can)

so we have 42 / 52 U cabinets that we can fill any way we want.
we can put shelves in etc
each cabinet has duel power feeds.

So whats on your wish list?
i.e.
cost's
Smart hands for reboots etc

I need as much as information as i can get as i have a meeting on Friday 4th April

I would be interested if it is cheap enough and you can guarantee that someone is not going to just run off with my hardware (however I like how you linked a legit video of the place you work and looks pretty legit so far (Cryptocurrency enthusiasts in general tend to be very sceptical about scams etc.)).

I think remote access to your miner and some kind of remote support guy (that actually knows what he is doing) would be important too.

I am only looking to host 3 Antminer S1's, I'm not sure that is what you are looking at scale wise?

In response as for if there is a market for this, there definitely is if you can build yourself a trusted reputation with good customer service - If this were to happen I would definitely know people that might be interested.

I think your hardest part with selling this product to people will be getting yourself noticed.

Hi
ok cool
that's why I put in the OP that I work for XEROX
and that we will be able to use the XEROX DC's

this is totally legit
I just need to know what everyone wants etc
I will compile a list and update the OP

As for
(Cryptocurrency enthusiasts in general tend to be very sceptical about scams etc.).
your not joking lol im one of them.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you about it being a scam etc. Personally I think this is very genuine attempt at something that could be pretty awesome, its just (as I am sure you know) there have been some pretty epic legit seeming scams in the past.

With pricing, it would be nice to pay on a monthly basis, but with some guarantee that the price is not suddenly going to hike up in 3 months time. Hope this is helpful.

no offence taken mate its all good

i think the BIG thing is going to be the power cost
what i would like to see is something like
A fixed price for 3 months with at least 30 days notice of a change

Title: Re: UK Hosting for Mining kit
Post by: cxboyminer on March 31, 2014, 12:15:32 AM
it really depends on the price... I tried to mine in school, but apparently im running a 'sideline business' and hence im breaking the school policy. I was going to debate with the school about whether bitcoin is a legal currency in the uk or not but i just brought my miner back to hong kong.

If the price is right i might try it.

Hi
first off very sorry for the lack of update I'm working nights at the moment so its a bit mad

now as for the meeting / hosting
there have been no objections for Us to do this I have tout a plan of action together with what is required by department involved i.e.

networks
security
operations
smart hands
management

once i have all the information i will put a business case together and submit it to EU management.

this is not going to be a fast thing but its looks like it will go ahead.

I will keep this thread update as much as i can .

i did say that if some one want us to host there ant miners then we can charge them for shelf space

but on the hole they think its a good idea

just need to make sure that i have all the information in the right place

I've PM'ed you. But the gist of what I have said in PM for everyone else is this:

I'd build a separate network for the miners, completely firewalled off from any other networks.

I'd also offer two access services, a firewalled NAT service with a DNAT acess to the miners or SSL VPN access, probably for smaller setups

Then a full access service for those who want to provide their own network, e.g. switches and firewall setup.

How I suggest you break it down is:

Space Cost:
Charge by the rack space used:
  • 1 4U Shelf
  • 1/4 Rack
  • 1/2 Rack
  • Full Rack

Power Cost:
Charge by the 1 Amp but give some ideas to help with the AMP->WATT conversion as most miners work in Watts

e.g.:
  • 1 AMPS (240W) e.g. 1 x 180GH Bitfury rig
  • 1.6 AMPS (400W) e.g. 1 x ANTMINER S1
  • 3 AMPS (700W) e.g. 1 x KnC Jupiter
  • 4 AMPS (950W) e.g. 1 x 1TH ANTMINER S2 / 1TH A1 Dragonminer
  • 6 AMPS (1440W) etc

Data:
Miners dont need much data, so probably just a couple of TB a month, maybe 5-10Mb/s would cover any eventuality up to a full rack, but I doubt even that. From what I have seen 3.5 TH of miners only pulls about 3GB a month.

Also, people may also want physical access especially if they get a full rack or multiple racks.

Hi All.

Is there still interest in this kind of service?

I have some additional capacity and am considering offering a UK solution.
Both send and forget as well as VPN access to the hardware.

Good to hear  :)

Then it seems you might have some competition - which is good for everyone. Could be time to push the powers that be a little harder, I think whoever can offer this service first will get a good slice of the market..... ;)

I agree but I want it done right first time and not rush it (not saying anyone is rushing it) but let's get it right first time

As soon as they realise we want to put 10-20KW in a rack they'll say no, I guarantee it. They assume when we say 5kw that it means 1kw most of the time, up to 5. Its not.

Title: Re: UK Hosting for Mining kit
Post by: cmine on April 24, 2014, 10:08:44 AM
I am currently working on 64amps constant draw per rack. So around 14kw without an issue.

I have played with trying more, but heat then becomes the issue.

Still, no harm in trying eh? Many of these large companies generate their own power anyway.......think positive  ;)

Make it a good competitive deal and you have my repeat (and expanding) business

I could potentially do a little better but would need more of a commitment from users or charge a setup fee. I would welcome any feedback or suggestions from the community as my main goal is to support independent miners, hence the more flexible terms.
