Title: Who is online?
Post by: rby on June 28, 2023, 08:27:27 PM
I remember I have once or twice seen users online at any time in the forum but I do not remember how I did it. I did some search and found this link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=who). But the link is giving a feedback that the function is disabled. Does anyone know which other way I can go about this?

I think there is an auto setting for users to see other members online. I do see others online just like you right now; you are showing online, but I believe this active online status seen by users is based on the other users settings.

If we go to our account-related settings, there is a box after the email hidden settings that is actually for "Show others your online status." If that's ticked yes, then others can easily notice when you are online, and if it's left blank, then you will remain offline on others views.

By default users are online, but if you do not want people to notice you when you are online, you can do that in account related settings (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3254306;sa=account). If anyone set it to be offline by leaving the box checked to be blank, you can still know if the person is visiting this forum by checking 'last active' on the user's profile.

You do not do anything to see who is online or offline. It all depends on if the feature is enabled or not by the user. Yours is disabled so others are not notified when you are online on the forum and when you are offline.

Any link to user related stats has been disabled on the forum.

It seems that I did not explain what I meant very well.
I mean, a link to click and see the list of all online bitcointalk users at that time.
Not the one that displays with green signal beside the profile information.

Not everything should be seen easily in public, but how about trying this link to see who is online (https://bitcointalk.org/SSI.php?ssi_function=whosOnline).
This doesn't include all the users who disabled online status in their profile settings, but you can see individually their Last Active time.

I never seen such page or thread mentioning it since i registered.
I check the smf manual and they really have it, probably it was disabled for privacy reasons.

Ohhhh, so there you have it.

Great!
Exactly what I'm searching for. I will lock this thread now. Cheers!
