Title: Does lottery rewards expire?
Post by: Turn it off on July 03, 2023, 01:39:36 AM
Yes, you read that accurately.

If I buy several lottery tickets and then leave my account dormant for a long time, say at least 6 months, and my ticket wins the jackpot during that time.
Will anything happen to my prize money? Will the casino refund my money because I never claimed any of the rewards?

It's just a thought I've had for a while and decided to ask here in the community.

Online or physical lottery tickets?

I just did a quick search on bc.game lottery article and nothing was written on the duration at which a lottery ticket that wins will expires or would become invalid for claim.
In my opinion, a user should be able to claim his/her reward anytime they Wish to, because I see no reason as to why they'll render the ticket invalid after sometime. If we were referring to a physical lottery ticket I would have judge that different but since I'm referring to an online casino then it shouldn't have any maximum duration at which it will be valid.

^I don't know which lottery casino you are talking but I am sure that is an online casino.
However, all your questions will probably be answered if you will read the TOS of which casino you are talking about, everything was on the TOS and each casino has its own terms regarding this matter.
Based on the Freebitco.in and I checked it now, it will never get expired.
You can ask this on the casino staff too.

Each gambling site, each jackpot will have own rules for eligible winners and duration when you can claim your reward. Read them in a jackpot you want to join.

No forum member can give you answer on how long a jackpot reward claiming duration will last. It depends on each jackpot so let's read its rules yourself. If you don't read any rule and most important rule, reward claiming rule, why do you buy a jackpot ticket? To push your money away?

If it's half a year or more, then the lottery reward sitting in your account might be reduced first because I remember casinos tend to charge a small fee for inactive accounts.

There's also a chance they might remove the account, as this is mentioned in the terms and conditions of a few casinos. IMO it's rare for casinos to touch your balance, so I doubt the reward would get refunded or moved unless it's stated under their lottery's terms and conditions that they have the right to confiscate the reward if it's not moved for several months.

Yes, they do expire. Depending on the lottery that you are playing and law of the land it is generally between 90 to 180 days. The same goes for online lottery too and it is recommended to always keep a track of the expiry date before and after the purchase of tickets. There are a few apps to help you with this issue. If do a Google search using the keyboard lottery ticket tracking apps. Some of them are from lottery organizers and some are paid apps. If you do want to use it then maintain a ledger with all the details of your lottery tickets.

Centralized exchanges have that shit rule too. If we don't notice and don't read their Terms of Service, we can lose our online accounts and lose money too. Recent months, Twitter, Google tend to follow that trend to terminate inactive Twitter accounts and Gmail accounts.

It is not safe to store cryptocurrency in online account
Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5421039.0), but it is more risky to store in online accounts which you don't log in after 6 months or longer.

Especially half a year is too long. So if there is a jackpot winning ticket in the casino it is better to withdraw the prize within that time if it is mentioned there. Otherwise various steps can be taken like stand KYC you need to be authenticated. So I think it's best not to waste time especially when you win prizes. Since you are claiming money without taking the prize, you should make your withdrawal decision very quickly.

In general, they do expire. In Europe Euromillions and other lotteries you have 90 calendar days to collect your winnings, otherwise you will lose them.

What to do upon winning the Euromillions Jackpot? (https://www.labrujadeoro.es/blog-eng/what-to-do-if-winning-euromillions.htm)

Although it is strange because I see that in the UK, the time to collect the Euromillions would be twice as long (https://www.national-lottery.co.uk/life-changing/winner-euromillions-unclaimed#:~:text=How%20long%20have%20I%20got,draw%20to%20claim%20their%20prize.):

If there is a physical lottery in our country, it will expire, and this depends on what kind of lottery game you are joining; they range from 3 days up to 1 month, and after that, you'll lose your winnings if you haven't claimed them as that is their agreement. But online, I am not really aware of it, but I am not sure why you will be leaving your winnings or, like, forgetting it. I mean, you can check it on a daily basis, like every minute, or they are also sending you emails to make sure that you won.

I'd say it's rine but who's to say that a casino wouldn't be such an ass that they'd cancel your win because of an inactive account? Even if it was directly rendered to your accounts wallet, as long as it's sneakily hidden in their ToS that they can, they will do so. It's pretty much free money to them anyway since they technically "announced" it as a prize somebody won.

As for physical lotteries, they usually have a limit afaik? They're much more public about it though, since technically someone not claiming the prize just resumes the lottery again just lik when nobody was actually called a winner.

Read the Terms of Service of the lottery, in which you are participating. Everything should be stated there.
I don't know about any active lottery players, who would just forget about their tickets and leave their accounts. ;D
I don't think that the lottery would refund your tickets if you forgot to claim the jackpot. Probably the lottery platform won't pay you the jackpot, if you don't have a withdrawal method in your account. I'm no expert in online lotteries. We need someone, who is actively playing online lotteries to explain everything in detail.

There are different rules and regulations applicable to "brick n Mortar" Lotteries and also online Lotteries in every country, so this is a difficult question to answer. In my country you have 90 days to claim your Lottery winnings and after that it goes back into the pool for the next draw.

I can understand that they put restrictions on the time that you have to claim the winnings, because it is extra administration and risk for them to secure that money. I wonder if you get the interest on that money if you leave it there for a month or two... (not that I would do that.. if I won that money)  ::)

Lottery may have various rules, but for this reason, a lottery buyer must read the terms and conditions before purchasing the lottery. Lottery buyers will get all the information whether physical or online. A buyer to keep an eye on those things. In physical lotteries, winnings must be paid out with a specific time frame. Lottery winnings are more likely to expire if a lottery winner does not collect the winnings within the stipulated time. But there is no such problem in online. Because lottery buyers can easily monitor those things on a regular basis. If you win the online lottery, you will be notified by email.

I don't know about the validity of offline tickets, but in Italy the ones who usually win the biggest state lottery which is sometimes 100 million Euros they don't go and claim it right away, some people have claimed it a lot of time after the draw and that was still valid,so it depends from country to country regarding the offline lotteries.

As for online lotteries,I don't think it goes dormant at least in Freebitco.in I have seen dormant accounts who have won the lotteries and they were accredited to their account,so again even here it depends on the different websites politics.

Different platforms have different policies. If they have an expiration date, I think they will most likely take that prize and put it back in the prize pool for a future draw. And if they don't, then you won't have to worry about it. If you win any jackpot, they will contact you and tell you the process of how to claim it. Regardless of the time frame for how long your account is inactive. So if you want the best answer, you need to contact the specific platform and ask them directly. We don't know everything about every platform, so the best course of action will be that. If you really wish to keep your account like that, then ask the platform first and see which one will allow it.

I know about the national lotteries if that is what you want to know. Usually it has a claim date or duration for you to come up with your winning ticket to claim it and if that duration is exhausted, you will hardly get that winning reward back. It is about 180 days that it is placed for claiming. So to that effect, before you play it you are told some of the conditions to claim it including tax on it just like claiming the huge winning from offline gambling sites .

I think that the duration of the lottery awards may depend on the conditions prescribed in each particular lottery. Therefore, if you plan to take a break for a long time after buying a lottery ticket, then first of all you should study the conditions for the lottery. I think everything will be written there. Also, you should take the time to study the local gambling and lottery laws in your country, because, I think, depending on different countries, there may be differences. In turn, local laws may stipulate the period of time when a player can collect his prize money if he won it.

As a result, I can say that:
1 - read the lottery conditions from your service provider;
2 - learn your local lottery laws.

It will be weird if winning tickets do not have expiration dates. But maybe there are countries or companies that are offering no expiries on their winning tickets? After all, it's been paid and the prizes will once again start from their lowest and then grow back every time there are no winners during draws.

In my country, our lottery sweepstakes have a 1-year expiry date which is a lot of time already. Big winners usually do not claim right away for privacy purposes. I even heard about a winner in our local lotto sweepstakes that claimed his prize nearly a year already since winning.

Wait again,  if it is an online lottery such as offered by a casino then I think the reward is automatically credited to your accounts once your number is the lucky number and logically some lotteries such as physical lotteries of those played in the casino would have an expiration date and if the prize winner doesn't claim the winning within a certain time,  the winning may be revoked according to the term and condition and if this becomes the case it will be clear to the player to know the stances and the duration of claiming the prizes.

       -  On the physical lottery outlet yes, you were right that within 6months if the jackpot winner didn't appear to get his winning rewards it will automatically forfeit. Now, in terms of discussion in online gambling, I'm not exactly so sure if they also have the same procedures in it.

Becaue as far as I can see that once you win in online lottery most of the time the jacpot winner always get his winnings at once.
They don't let it last more than a few days as far as I know.

All lottery tickets do has an expiry date and this refers to the terms and condition of the provider, maybe duration give for claimant and if you didn't meet the required time and date of longevity then the provider my decides to forfeit it since you didn't come to come claim it within the duration given.

Most of the casino doesn't give extra time rather they requested the owner to claim it with immediate effect otherwise you don't longer have access to it again. However, the terms and conditions are always on the casino site before you could play and win a lottery always make sure that read the instructions carefully as other not to Violate the rules.

It depends on the website and the online casino you're playing with. If you haven't claimed it yet, what's stopping you? Some may have time limit as to how much long you can only claim your reward or profits and if you don't you will lose it. Some send it directly without claiming notice. But there's a bigger risk for not claiming you're prize money is when the gambling site you're playing with gone backcrupt or just begone all at once. There you cannot do anything about it. So if there's a chance, claim it and store your prize on your own wallet so have the control over it.

The prize can expire and the casino will use the prize for a new period.
They assume that the winner cannot collect the prize and do not give reasons.
And I think it will also happen to offline casinos where when they can't contact the winner, they will disqualify the winner and maybe replace it with another winner.
But I guess it does happen to people because they hope so desperately to be the winner and the last thing they do is buy the ticket and leave the casino.
It's possible that they won't be back for another 6 months or they may never return to the casino.

It's very unusual to have people abandon their accounts say for half a year with a jackpot prize win in it. Not quite sure if anything would happen to your money under normal circumstance but for an offline casinos there's a probability that they can't hold on for such a long period capitalizing on the idea that maybe the prize winner could be dead for wasting such duration of time in claiming their prize. So either they might invalid you as the winner and give it to the number that appeared as the  second runner up. OP, It's better imagined than going through the whole saga!

The different casino are formed by different individuals, and you should know that although there will be some similar terms in how they operate, there will also be a few changes that each of them have made to that will be unique to them. You have to know the terms that every casino has towards their lotteries, so you will know exactly. I feel that with some casino's, if the prize money is unclaimed, they may need to retrieve it so that it can be rewarded to another person who is available to claim it. After a period of time and your reward money is unclaimed, many things can be assumed to have happened to you.

Lucky if you play on freebitco, as there's no expiration, you have no worries if you forget to check out your account.
But when it comes to other lottery games like the physical ones, much better if you always check before it is too late for you if you luckily got it.

I think this depends on the casino, I've never played the lottery outside FreeBitco, and my experience there is that, you could leave your account dormant for several years, and your funds will still be intact anytime you decide to enter the site again.

I left a small amount of bitcoin on my FreeBitco account since 2017 when I last logged in, till 2021 when I logged in again, and to my amusement, the bitcoin were still there, so it very much depends on the casino, I believe information concerning this should be contained in the terms and conditions of the casino, so very important to read that up.

Pretty good question, I also have the same question as you.
because I haven't done gambling behavior like this, got a number then I left it in brackets for quite a long time, so I don't have the experience to tell you, sorry in advance.
But if there is a necessity to claim a winning prize in the rules, what we win will be lost because you don't claim it with a time limit, but if there are no such rules and usually when you get a win it is immediately entered into your wallet/balance it is possible even if you don't open it within six months.
Also, with a note that gambling platform  is still operating until the day you check it, if not, of course it will also disappear even if you get a win. That's my logic. CMIIW

If I buy several lottery tickets and then leave my account dormant for a long time, say at least 6 months, and my ticket wins the jackpot during that time.

With online lotteries you have to read TOS as each company will have their own limit but in general they do expire. The whole company can go out of business too if you wait for too long. ;)

How can that be possible that a casino will retrieve a lottery reward from an unclaimed participant due to one reason or the other and give it to another account or person who did not participate. You have to participate in the lottery or have an account registered for that to be entitled to a reward and you won't have to benefit from another person's win. If the participant is unable to claim it I think it returns to the casino but not to someone who didn't apply for it or qualified for it.

Have you ever read the bonus rules that are given at every casino, each casino has different rules about bonuses, except for your balance in the account.

For your answer, you mainly go to the casino and see and read their rules regarding lottery tickets, bonuses and so on, that you left here, of course you never claimed the bonus, you will find out the lottery ticket, the bonus is still stored there or expired.

As far as I know, some of the casino bonuses or lottery tickets that you get and never take, some of the casinos are yours to lose, it is assumed that you have been inactive for a long time, and some of the casinos are intact, does not disappear even if you are on vacation for one year, when you visit the casino your fixed bonus, for that I suggest you visit the casino that you have played at, see if there are still lottery tickets or they expire.

In the Philippines, if you were to purchase a lottery ticket and you subsequently left it dormant without claiming the prize money, you have one (1) year to claim it counted from the date it was drawn. Failure to redeem such prize would constitute a forfeiture on your part and the prize money would be re-circulated or donated to charity, whichever is the case.1

For casinos, I think it depends upon the ToS and their rules/regulations about lotteries. They have their specific mandates and rules on how long the prize would be valid for redemption. As far as I know, the redemption period has a lifespan of at least <12 months in order to fully receive your prize.

Not quite sure but if I'm not mistaken there's a code in every ticket or such that tickets are numbered which could be a factor especially with land based lotteries. Also, it would be impossible that lottery providers would allow people to have such advantage right? So more likely there's an expiration. With regards to online platforms, I think same thing goes for it. It is simply the edge or advaantage from doing so in which providers cannot allow to happen but on the other hand there's a slight tendency for such lottery combination to be doubled, trippled or more (well winners would have to split the prize in most instances therefore, this is not subject to bankruptcy.) At the end of the day, lotteries won't make it possible for them to be pushed due to their own scheme perhaps being condifent that the number of bettors and the amount they are getting, is still sustainable to the platform or provider itself.

Which website you are talking about? There are thousands of website with the lottery system. I’m sure everyone must be having their own workflow when it comes to defining the timeline. For example, if you check feebitcoin then you will their lottery tickets can be accumulated until the prize is drawn. It’s simple lottery with weekly cycle so I am sure it’s valid only for that particular period of time.

However there could be another tickets such as GT which are valid for period of six months. So in that case that would be by default valid for six months.

The website which you talking about should have such rules, better check and play along.

It really depends upon lottery to lottery and every lottery will have different rules of their tickets expirations. I know there are few physically lottery which will be valid for 3 to 6 months but online lotteries have much lower durations. Its always better to read the term and conditions of the lottery where you want to participate and you will get to know about their expiration.
Also mostly casino will not refund you the money, even if you do not claim any rewards.

If you are pertaining on physical lottery then it has an expiration since the jackpot prize needs to be claimed within the duration date or else it will be add back on prize pool since your tickets is considered loss if you didn’t claim immediately. Check the specific duration dates on your lotto website to make sure te]he specific duration because they have different duration date based on the type of lotto that you are playing.

But online casino lottery obviously doesn’t have expiration date since your reward is automatically claimed and sent to your wallet once the result is out and prize settled.

It's best to give the information as to why you'd not gonna be around in at least 6 months, that's too long and the casino might consider you dead lol But I think if it's a crypto casino, they will just credit the amount to your account if you win.

Let's say it's an offline casino, there is an expiration as they said. Sad that no one will claim your jackpot. For 6 months, what would you do by that time, jailed and you don't trust anyone?

Wait again,  if it is an online lottery such as offered by a casino then I think the reward is automatically credited to your accounts -snip-

That's the clue of this topic. What many are calling "physical lotteries" expire because nobody claims the prize in a certain time (90-180 days), but this is not how online casinos work. There, as rewards are automatically credited, there is no need to claim anything, so this rule makes no sense. Yes, inactivity can still pose a problem, but the deadline for it to happen is usually much longer.

So now, answer this question: what do you prefer, finding in a drawer an old lottery ticket dated last year and worth 100 millions, or a hardware wallet you forgot about in 2015 which contains 3 BTC? Many people don't know that lottery tickets expire, so I hope that after reading this thread you know the right answer.

Based on the Freebitco.in and I checked it now, it will never get expired.
You can ask this on the casino staff too.
Yes, I also think it depends on the terms of the casino itself.

At Freebitcoin, like in some other online casinos, winnings get credited instantly. It's online...

But when it's come to offline lotteries and buying tickets it's different. Maybe a month or two ago I saw an article about some German lottery, after 3 years nobody collected the main prize and the money went back into the prize pool. Every big lottery has its own ToS, lottery tickets expire after some time, depending on the country it can be some short or long period of time...

Quick research:
Quote
Do lottery tickets expire UK?
We hope a lucky player comes forward in time but if a valid claim is not received within 180 days (around 6 months) of the draw date, the prize and any interest earned on it will go to benefit National Lottery Projects across the UK.

I just checked, and in my country, it's 60 days:

Quote
The "State Lottery of Serbia" points out that the lucky winner has 60 days to contact them, and if he doesn't, he will lose the "lotto" millions he won.

If it's an offline casino, sure there will be an expiration since they will need the winners account information for the payment of the winnings, and one does not or should not expect them to wait for the winner that long..

But for online casinos, like you said, they will simply credit the winning to the users account, when ever the user comes online, he or she can withdraw the money, this is if the casinos is legitimate though, there are some online casinos where if they don't see the user online for like 3 to 6 months, they probably will assume the user no longer exist and withdraw the money.

In my country, it will take a full year before the claim expires.  So winners have 1 year at most to claim their winnings but I think every country has their own set of claim expiration so I may say it varies from country to country or if it is in an online platform, we can ask the support staff for that.  So yes lottery rewards expires depending on what is written on its terms.

It does really depend on a certain terms and conditions on each site but if we do speak about physical/local casinos then it would be playing around 90 to 120 days or max of 1 year before your winnings would be forfeited.
I dont have idea if this one would be applicable or been applied on online casinos about on how long those prizes would be forfeited but come in mind that once you do hit up a jackpot then they would definitely be crediting those winnings into your account automatically or on a specific period of time.If ever you wouldnt be able to claim it out then it would really be no problem  since those funds would really be just still on your account
and its up to yours whether you would be letting it sit there or it would be a waste if you totally forgotten about it. This is why we should really be mindful if ever we do make out some bets or gamble into our accounts
or simply being that mindful about our accounts that having some funds or active bets.

You can google it, OP. In case of US lotteries it's usually 180 days to claim the money. In some cases it's 90 days, but no less than that.
In the UK national lottery it's 180 days and in the EU it's the same.

If you win an online lottery, the win is credited to your account and should be available as long as you have access to the account. If the casino is located in any of the above jurisdictions, the time co claim should be at least 180 days, or unlimited, although some sites can have a specific time to claim written in T&C.

It depends on the casino or the company who owns the lottery's terms, the lottery is very popular here in our country and you only have one year to claim your prize one year after the draw, on online casinos you should ask the support or check the TOS, and I believe there is no refund of the ticket because in the first place you are at fault here for not claiming your ticket right away.
It's extreme laziness if you failed to check your ticket when you will only spend a few minutes to do so, it's your ticket to your dream so why fail to check it?

you asked a very interesting question and it would be great if many casinos or sites that offer these lottery options would read your question so that they would go ahead and update their TOS to accommodate the rule of having a certain deadline for people to withdraw the lottery prize. in my opinion it is important that everyone who offers lottery tickets should put a deadline for people to claim their prizes, for example in my country the companies that have lotteries they put a limit of 120 days at most for the winner to go with their ID raise the prize

but there are other companies in my country that set the limit for withdrawing the prize something like 90 days, others have set 60 days and others 30 days, after the withdrawal limit time, the person will no longer withdraw the prize and the value of the lottery increases and if someone else wins the lottery, they will keep all the money. I think it's a fair measure. now for cases of online lottery there is no withdrawal limit, but I doubt very much that they will be waiting 30 days until the winner decides to show up to collect the prize

Many people don't know that lottery tickets expire, so I hope that after reading this thread you know the right answer.

This thread is very educative because I have seen some bettors who don't know about the topic, they feel if you have a winning lottery tickets that you can stay until eternity before going to cash it but that is false and this thread has become an eye to most that are not knowledgeable about it.

However for your moreorless easy puzzle that you want to unravel  ;D if the lottery ticket is dated last year and we are on the 7th month this year which means there is possibility that the ticket may have expired because most lottery ticket don't stay longer than 6 months. So with the analysis of the chances of the ticket expiring, I would go for the 3BTC.

On the second analysis, if the ticket has not expired then I will go for 100 million (I assume this is $100,000,000). So I will use the money to invest in more btc .

I think conventionally, both online and land-based lottery impose strict expiration dates on all tickets they issue, this is to ensure that every draw is made fresh and so people don't use old tickets with potential jackpots in them to get an unfair advantage against the competition. So you might as well use all of them in one go or at least before they expire. For land-based casinos it usually expires on the particular draw date and any further time will render the ticket void and invalid. Online lotteries on the other hand may impose lengthy expiration dates as much as they please. It's all about the system and what works best for these casinos really.

So again, you might wanna use those up before they become useless piles of paper or junk in your online inventory.

I'm 70% sure that lottery tickets has an expiry date and I guess 6 months might still within the time frame and it's still safe for your ticket from forfeiture. I guess the maximum will be 1 year after that your ticket are most likely going to be invalidated.
When your ticket gets a winning I dont think it will take you the whole 6 months before you claim your prize, you should never leave your account dormant since you can access online casinos anywhere. I think land based casinos these days has a website too where regular members can log in to their website for updates and account balances.

Depends on which lottery providers are you playing with.

If it's online lottery, they most certainly have a time period for you to collect your winnings. Same goes with physical lotteries - they have a period in which you collect your winnings, and if you do not collect it at that time period, that amount will either go back to the organization or be donated to certain charities. It depends mainly on the organization handling the lottery; they have different rules on claiming your prize.

When it comes to online lotteries,  I have participated in quite a few of them in the past and their rewards are paid into you account on the casino you bought the ticket,  so long as you gat the winning number your rewards wi be credited into your account.

I do a good number of them and also lost some,  but in all it depends on the casino and before I buy any lottery ticket,  I always check to know what are the criteria and rules guiding their services.

Is there a lottery provider that provides convenience with unlimited time limits to be able to exchange prizes?
If there is, try to explain a little which provider makes it easy so that we can all buy lottery tickets there and collect more prizes if we are lucky?

From my personal experience, I have never known of a lottery provider that does not provide a specific time limit for exchanging prizes.
So far, every gambler will definitely immediately exchange prizes if the tickets he buys really win and whether in large or small amounts, they will be exchanged immediately.

With crypto bitcoin lotteries there is nothing to expire, only thing they can do is to ban your account for any reason if they want to keep your money.
I dont trust anything what government lotteries are telling us and they can do whatever they want because nobody is controlling them.
Any lottery needs to be provably fair and I heard many cases of making stuff heavier to select exact numbers they want.
With digital lotteries and computers this fake draws can only be easier now.

In my own knowledge, they do eventually expire, however the timeline of expiration is set differently from lottery to lottery. This is why reading the terms and conditions as well as a thorough examination of the rules is definitely a must. Lotteries may be regulated but they have waay too much leeway when it comes to setting arbitrary timelines and designing their own lottery rule framework.

But I would not go as far as to call them unfair or scammers. Since they are operating under the regulations laws they are given by their government...

I still believe that there should be a law which states that lottery rewards must have a minimum expiration timeline of a year or two. Maybe even longer.

For the casino point of view, they would never want the lotteries expiration to be that longer duration. They would ideally want the lottery duration to be of minimum duration and the reason for this is that one the lottery is expired people will be willing to buy another lottery and hence spend the money on lottery.

Contrary to this, if the lottery duration is years long, people will just hold on the lottery hoping they would get the reward and may not buy more lotteries in that time period.

In the case of physical lotteries, I think they have got some limit of time before the ticket indeed becomes expired and you cannot longer claim the prize.
It sounds logical though, the lottery agency cannot hold the prize for ever because that would imply keeping a record of all the unclaimed money and the winner tickets, which is rather a hassle and a waste of money they could possibly use for future rewards and promotions.

Firstly know that winning a casino jackpot is different from winining a lottery, they both may have similar things regarding the huge amount you won and for you to leave such without claiming over time, now what determines your consequences depends on the rules and regulations that they have set for every claimant, if you're lucky enough that after six months you can still claim your money then it's better good for you, if their rules goes against that then you might just have risked losing the money, what i still don't understand is the possibility to this cause, if someone can gamble or apply for lottery without checking back to know the outcome.

That's a bit of a random question considering there are thousands of different lottery systems out there that all have different rules. What lottery are you talking about in particular? Of course they should honor your casino win if the ticket is valid. The prize will most likely be paid out automatically to your account and it would seem rather unusual if you have to claim it first, just going by how most other casino games work. However it won't really matter all that much to a casino to sit on your money, because they already earned their commission by selling the initial tickets and have made a profit from that process already. I have seen cases where certain casinos or payment providers will charge a dormant fee so it's worth staying on top of these things.

It all depends on how much the purchased lottery ticket is a document. This refers to the presence on it of any protection signs, barcodes, a security number. Also, you probably need to have a receipt proving that you bought this lottery ticket, online or physical. But in general, I think that even after many years, you have the right to claim to receive this prize. After all, you have spent money on the purchase, and your lottery ticket is identified by the number, which means that he has every right to have the winnings given to you when he announces it.

Otherwise, you can sue this organization.

As a bettor, you should monitor your account and know if you win some and to avoid any problem its advisable to read the ToS and visit your account from time to time, imagine winning the lottery and leaving the reward for months, that’s very uncharacteristic for a gambler. Physical lottery might also have a allowed timeframe for your to get your reward, you should know this too.

I don't know how this gambling things actually work especially  when it comes with winning big,  but common sensically, I think any tocket should have an expiring date and 6 months is a very long time to stay dormant  and I've read of threads where gamblers have to pay some fees for dormancy and some  casino also have some very strict terms for dormant accounts even upto  seizing all the available balance left after dormancy.
But just as my curiosity  has always been eben of the previous threads,  I want to know what a person must have been doing to have forgotten  an account with balance on it for over 6 months and then suddenly  remember and expect full payment without any charges

But why would you win and leave your prize at the first place and Is the casino your site or are you the co-founder?
Typically everyone who bought the lottery ticket and plays probably wins there are some specify time frame you would be given to come complain your winnings otherwise it could be withheld from you as the winner. But bear it that they always required their players to be more familiarize their ToS and of course every single players must read the team and conditions.
^This is what I said earlier in my post, everything is probably in TOS that I stated about all terms that you should follow as a bettor.
That is also a good question in the first place, why do you leave your winning on the gambling platform for a long time, for me, I will leave a gambling casino when my balance becomes empty, as long as I can able to bet, I will never leave that casino.
However, we should also be careful about leaving funds on such casinos because there are some casinos that will lock your account when you are not active for 6 months or more.

Well, you are right, but then, don't underestimate what problems can cause, so just be a cool headed person and stay out of problems always, and also pray to be in a good heath condition..

Just imagine that after playing the lottery and while winners are yet to be announced, one thing lead to another and you find yourself inside prison, do you think you will remember you played the lottery? Let alone caring whether you won or not...

Or how about one that had an accident and ends up in a comatose state, how will such a person claim his lottery price if he wins? How will he even know he or she won in the first place.

Will depends on the rules of the casino or the country where there's law implemented to it. And for span of 6 months I think the reward you get has been voided already due to that reason.

Don't know where have you been and you didn't notice that you win a jackpot in lottery since 6 months is with no activity is enough reason for your account to get dormant. Maybe you can still get something if you reach them so try to contact the support to see if you can settle with them about those winnings.

Yes, it would be always subjective on the rules because each might really be different when it comes to terms and conditions on which there might be having that 30 grace period of 6 months or 1 year depending or
according to them. This is why it would really be that wise if ever you would really be having those pending bets then you should be wary of those terms so that you wouldnt really be ending up on forfeiting those winnings if ever you have able to hit the jackpot on which it would really be that a complete waste on losing these winning considering that lottery does have that huge money we are talking on here.
Expiry would really be depending on how long the duration it would be but speaking about on online lotteries then there might be no expiry since it would be credited out into your account.

It's not right to avoid the problem, shouldn't we face the problem so we can overcome it? Now, regarding your question that if the winner suddenly becomes comatose, the answer to that is this.

Because here, we don't talk about if the real winner dies suddenly, the number one vineverify is that whoever holds the winning ticket will be the valid winner. This means that if the ticket of the deceased or comatose is passed to the child or close family, he will have verification that he won the lottery because he has the ticket.

I also think the same, that's what the To's are for, and it may be that the case you say happens, but if the person wins and doesn't claim his prize, obviously the casino will not keep that person's money, because that's what the rules or regulations are for. , I say something, I am a very clueless person, but if I buy a ticket I must set an alarm on my phone to be aware because it is not known when we are lucky enough to win, and when it comes to casino prizes they are very juicy prizes, That is something that we should not neglect, I am clueless, but when it comes to money, nope, we must be very serious, things must be done very well, it is money, and it would be very painful if it was earned and that time passes to claim and no longer I can have it, it's to cry.

A lottery purchaser must monitor lottery ticket at his own risk and responsibility after purchasing it. Each casino expose details their lottery results and how and what time frame to claim the winnings. Now if a gambler is careless after winning the lottery he is responsible for it. Casino gambling platforms naturally do not act outside the rules. If the money is not collected within the stipulated time, even filing a complaint against them will not be effective. A gambler is therefore solely responsible for his own actions.

Lottery prizes can expire, but that depends on the policies of each casino that provides lottery games. Maybe some will keep their lottery prize for the winner until the winner comes to the casino and claims it. Or maybe someone will return their prize to their casino to use in the next lottery. But I guess the casino will return its lottery prize to its balance if the winner doesn't collect their prize for a certain period. And because only the casino knows the winner's identity, the casino will contact the winner via telephone, sms, or even through something else.

As far as I know every lottery has a time limit, sometimes each country may have different regulations, where I am on average only given 30 days, so it seems that the prize you get will expire if you don't claim it, but besides that it doesn't make sense either if you buy the lottery then leaving it, you should pay attention to the lottery so that you can claim the prize if you win it.

If you are too busy waiting for the lottery prize announcement and forget the lottery you should not play the lottery, why not just gamble whenever you want to gamble because it's better than buying the lottery then forgetting about it and in the end when you win you can't claim it it's the same as throwing it away waste of money and time too.  ;D

Casinos are happy with those unclaimed prices. Some might not bothered to contact the winner and remind them that they win a huge amount of money on their lottery but provably there are some legit business will do some good works to contact the winner since this add up positive reputation to them and this is big marketing tactics they could do since many people could see how generous they are for seeking the winner which didn't claim the prize he won for long time. Didn't see thus yet happening on crypto casino but maybe we can see this to happen on reputable one in future.

Some problems are better avoided than faced, cus it might swallow you in the process of trying to solve it, not every problems is solvable or over-comeable, you might wanna argue this but I've said what I said, remember the proverb which said that, "A prudent man, that is a wise man, forseeth evil(problem) and hides himself.

You can only face the problem that took you unawares, for the one you saw coming, it is wise to avoid it.

Well, when I said what I said, I wasn't referring to offline lotteries which I believe the players sure would have some one as a next of kin to stand for them just incase anything happen..

I was actually referring to online lotteries where most players don't even let any of their family members know that they played the lottery, you yourself will agree with me that, you do not disclosed several of your bets to family members, do you ? This is if any of your family even knows that you gamble.

It depends on each casino, they can set their own rules in order to confiscate someone winnings or they choose to be honest for keeping the prize until the winner claim it. That's why if you join a lottery or something like that, you need to register your account using your active email in order to get notified. If you use a random email and you not check regularly the casino, there's a high possibility you forget it and you don't know if you're lucky or not at that time.

The time limit for such lotteries may vary in different casinos. But the lottery winner must have this awareness. Because every casino will consider it to expire after a certain period of time. As a result, if the lottery winner does not claim it within the stipulated time, there will be no chance to get it. It is held for several months after receiving the general lottery at the national level which may 180 days or 90 days. However, this may not be same with online lotteries. After purchasing the lottery, one should definitely keep that in mind also need to provide active mail for communication which is essential.

I agree, it all depends on the casino's TOS. Some casinos usually set an expiration date and its purpose is for the winners to claim their prizes at the allotted time. However, most casinos provide a grace period for winners to claim their prizes but it all depends on the organizers as well as the regulations of the casino. That is why it is important to check the terms of services beforehand or even provide an active email so you could always get notified all the time. It is still our responsibility to check on the status of our tickets so we'll never miss the results as some casinos don't reach out to their winners so we must also do some actions to stay updated.

Apart from Tos, there is also a notification for each winner that there is certain time to be able to claim the bonus before the expiry date and this is normal because the casino also does not want to lose large amounts of money just because of a bonus that has no limit.
Casinos give bonuses to attract customers and bonuses are used as form of promotion that is quite effective, plus each casino will always give different bonuses so that if they don't set a time limit then this will make the casino have to spend more money than what has been planned.

Moreover, for large casinos almost all available bonuses are always notified via email message and there is final time limit to be able to claim them.
If any gambler misses it then this is their own fault not the casino fault.

We must be wise as gamblers and as much as possible not easily blame the casino for any mistakes or problems we are experiencing.

It should first be known that in any case you raised this matter, it would be beneficial to understand whether it is an online platform lottery or a physical one. If your account has been frozen for a long time then of course you need to reactivate that account first. After reactivation you can claim that lottery winning reward. But here trams and conditions should be read carefully. Because in some lotteries it is considered valid for a certain period of time and there is no chance to get it back after it expires. Here the rules are completely different so definitely consider the terms before buying the lottery. Moreover, a lottery buyer must also have an idea about whether his account is active or not. It is best if you know about this from the concerned authorities.

you should told us if this is Online casino or physical and also best to name them for complete details because I think they have different rules about this

but Internet says

For the Mega Millions, the ticket expiration dates are between 90 days and an entire year, depending on your jurisdiction. The easiest way to find out is just to check the lottery website of the state you’re playing in.

Regardless, most winners don’t take that long to claim their prize. With that said, there have been many circumstances when winning jackpots have gone unclaimed. A $77 million Powerball jackpot once went unclaimed in Georgia, and a $68 million New York-based Mega Millions ticket.

Source ; https://www.withyotta.com/post/do-lottery-tickets-expire

and also added , why a person will not claim His lottery wins? not unless he lost handled the ticket and have found it long time so they are late in claiming.

But surely everything will have expiration because this money needs to be circulate once not being claimed to give to other winners.

It depends on each casino as there may be some casinos that do not allow opening frozen accounts. Existing users may be required to register a new account because the casino may have deleted their old frozen account.

But in his case, the casino had the right to cancel his prize because his account was frozen. Or there is a certain period that requires the winner to take the prize or the prize will be forfeited. Usually, the withdrawal period is 1 month and after 1 month, the prize will be forfeited.

But the next question is why he left his account inactive for so long. In addition, if he intends to leave his account for the long term, he does not need to buy a lottery ticket.

You are very right, for me, I do not see any reason why a reward that is already given to a player should expire, not like the casino is paying any dime to any body or service to keep the reward hanging in there until the player comes around to claim it.

But it's rather unfortunate that just as you have said, some casino do set a time limit to which a reward can be claimed, if it's not claimed by that specific time, it expires and they keep it for themselves.

But on the other hand, maybe some casinos do this in order to encourage their users to be pro active users, not  the type of users that will come online ones in six months and never return in the next six months. This is the only reasonable reason I can assume for this.

Wouldn't the casino have a ruling about the timeframe of the claiming of the rewards? If yes then that means that they're going to be explicitly say the time that you can claim it? Plus, it's their business so they can actually create their own set of rules and there's nothing you can do about that, even if you don't read it, you still have to comply to their rules which sucks but those are the rules, can't do anything about that.

In fact, I don't have the right answer. However, usually, online lotteries do not have an active period to claim. As far as I know, the lottery we win will automatically go into our gambling account. I mean, our balance increases according to what we win. However, what I said could be inaccurate. please understand, because I am not a Lottery fan. So, to prevent unwanted things, always try to read the ToS provided by the casino.

For physical lottery tickets, as far as I know, they are not much different from online lottery casino platforms. However, there are differences. when we win the physical lottery, automatically we have to claim our winnings. Usually within a certain time, if we don't claim the lottery win, we won't have any problems. however, for a duration that is not too long. for example, only a week later we can claim it. because however, the database is usually still stored safely. However, in a case like the one you put forward in this thread, it seems that it will not be as simple as we think. even though in reality, we are claiming the rewards we deserve. However, the point is, we don't know exactly what regulations apply to physical casinos. it could be, if there is a time limit for claiming our victory. moreover, over a fairly long period of time. Apart from that, the winner must first provide prior notification of the reasons and causes if the prize will be claimed within a certain time. I hope that what I convey is not different from the actual version of the situation and regulations.

There is nothing in this world that has no expiration , even Life has mate so yes there is expiration but
I think depend in which casino or their rules , I may ask is this online lottery? and which site ? and refunding? if you are asking
about your initial bets so maybe the casino is generous enough to bring that back but if your winning is what you asked here and
expecting after expiration will be a refund , sorry But I guess gambling owners are more wiser than us, they will take this opportunity
to take your winning if you did not comply with their terms., remember that it is your mistake and not theirs so a win win situation
for them right? so if you won lottery better to claim it right away before there is someone that will try to claim for you .

      -  If you are talking about a physical lotto ticket, yes, it has an expiration date because, in our country, if you do not collect your winnings within 6 months, the jackpot prize that should be yours will be forfeited.

But in the online lottery, I don't know if it has an expiration, but of course if you are the one who got the jackpot prize in the lottery, why would you take 6 months if you can get it in less than a week from the date you actually won? As long as you just keep the ticket, it should not be wrinkled or dirty so that the code can no longer be read and it can be validated without any problem.

As far as I know every lottery prize has specific time and it is said that if you contact within this time you will get the prize and if you are late then you will not get it. As far as I know no one can tell by a word of mouth on the forum where you purchased the lottery only they can.First confirms how you bought the lottery and if you claim now whether you will get the prize and know the details and then apply as per the rules then you will definitely get the prize No you can know that.

It is best if you know about this from the concerned authorities.
it's absolutely crucial, absolutely essential, to know the type of lottery we're talking about here. Online? Physical? It makes a huge, huge difference. If your account's been frozen - and I mean for a long time, not just a day or two - then you've got to get on that. Reactivate it. Reactivate it fast! But wait, you've got to read those tos. Read them once, read them twice, read them thrice if you have to

Some lotteries, they've got this timer, right? Tick-tock, tick-tock... and once it's gone, it's gone! No second chances, no do-overs. So, before you even think about buying a lottery ticket, you've got to know the rules. Know them inside out. And always, always check if your account is active. It's like dating; you've got to know if the other party is still interested, right? So, get in touch with the authorities, the big guys, and get the lowdown. It's the smart thing to do

Everything would really be that depending or according into their terms and conditions on which it would really be that so impossible that they wouldnt be having one.
This is why it would really be that always be according into sites terms and conditions when it comes to claiming up the prize considering that there would really be that expiry date for you to claim.
If you would really be going above with those time limits or days then it would be forfeited on which i would say that it is really just that a standard thing to have.
If we do talk about expiring then it sure it does, i dont know about their expiry date and this is why reading up those terms would be crucial.
Most of the time we do ignore on reading out with those details, yes it is really just that too small but we know that it could really give out that great effect
once we are on such condition.

Exactly what I was thinking, that there's definitely an expiration for almost anything, which I think makes OP's question moot since what's the point of asking if the common sense is to assume that there's going to be an expiration to everything, not to mention that business would want that to happen, for people to not claim their wins so they're not losing anything. The examples you've said though, I think that there's some way to work it out there; if the ticket is lost, there should be a record of your ticket and the numbers you've put in while on the other one, I think that you can argue that the immediate family member or relative can stake their claim on the ticket.

I think there are many other ways to look at it. For example, this guess could be valid for bc games only and other casinos may not work in similar ways. If the lottery tickets are valid for a lifetime then that business needs to be very strong from a financial perspective. I mean if someone won and they just casually came after 10 years to claim their ticket then it could be chaotic. The value that was assigned this year will hold many more times in terms of appreciation in the future and thus it can hamper the business as such.

I remember reading a Coca-Cola story where a man bought shares of the company in the early days when the company was not even at its moderate operations and suddenly after a few decades when the company became multi-billion dollar the shares had enormous value and as much the company could end losing their most of the business if they did the settlement. The claim was settled middle somewhere but such things can happen with the lotteries too.

At first, it might be an irrelevant comparison, but in the end, it's the company that is holding the lottery competition is liable for the reward no matter what when the user claims it.

So I am sure if you have other complaints similar to the one in ops then you can share some evidence or better still create your comment.

If we register on things like that we must have to endervour to go through their terms and conditions to see what is there and how it can affect us if we don't follow the right thing. If you read ToS, then it puts you on the right part to follow. For instance if a lottery winning ticket would expire you would see it from the terms and ensure you redeem it before expiration but if you don't read and you believe it has no expiration then it is not the fault of the casino when the ticket expires.

I think this depends entirely on the game but as per my investigation about lotteries I found out that it takes long for at least three months from the drawing date to claim your prize, anything after is already too late, but the deadline can be extended up to a year too.

So yes lottery rewards can actually get expired, the duration depends on the lottery and the location where you bought it from, power ball time frame is different from mega millions and so on.

I think the best manner of approach is to always check the claiming deadline for a specific lottery to figure out when the ticket will expire, I've not particulate in any lottery before but I am sure that lottery tickets carry their expiring date at the back of the tickets, but not always.

OP I believe any rewards put up for a competition must be claimed by the winners as a result of their efforts to winning it. Most rewards do have a specific time of claim. Some rewards are paid gradually to the winners within a specified period of time while some rewards are paid in full be the sponsoring organisation.

I can recall a particular lottery won by a female Phillipines which payments spans through 25 years here (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/pinoyabroad/content/882861/pinay-wins-over-p387-000-a-month-for-25-years-in-emirates-draw/story/%3Famp&ved=2ahUKEwj4na60z6CCAxU_UkEAHQsNAUYQFnoECAwQAQ&usg=AOvVaw33Tcbru61s8_aZjuJEGx2l)  this was done so that  the company would make the organisational payments within the lifespan they have given so they could not have any issues with payment in the future.

even if you don't read it, you still have to comply to their rules which sucks but those are the rules, can't do anything about that.
Why does that suck? It's how it should be, and it's not their fault if we ignore the terms and conditions and enter the contest without knowing the rules. Our money is at risk, so it's also our responsibility to read and understand everything before we put our money at risk even if it's a small amount. So, a person who either wants to gamble on a platform or participate in a lottery must read their terms and conditions before they get involved financially just to avoid facing problems in the future.

When it comes to claiming the reward on time, that can also depend on the platform and its rules, and it again becomes important for a person to read the terms and conditions before participating in the lottery just to be aware of the window that they will have to claim the rewards before they expire so that they don't miss it.

It takes time for the verification due to some legal process but once verified, Treasury dept will issue a check to the winner's name.

It really depends on what casino implements the expiration of the lottery tickets. But why not just try to get along with it and use it? And when you win, you can keep your profits there for that duration you've mentioned but why would you do that? If we're going to talk about account dormancy, it also depends on the casino but usually, they trigger if an account has been dormant for 1-2 years. Again, it varies per casino.

So just as what the other members have been saying about checking the TOS on how long is the duration they consider dormant and if they're going to void anything within your account. I think it's a good reminder not just for OP but also for everybody that whenever you have funds, tickets, or anything in your gambling accounts, think before you leave or better use and withdraw it.

Because you'll never know that you might forget for several months or even a year that you won't pay a visit and won't do an activity to your account. That's what happened for some cases and you just don't that to happen to you so you won't have any headache when the time comes.

It’s true that winners have a lot of time to claim it. In my country, winners has a up to one year of time to claim the reward I believe this is due to privacy purposes since winners usually want to cool off the news before they claim for their safety.

Have no experience in lottery where the prize needs to be claimed, because the lottery available in my country is like a instant lottery. Lottery where the winners get the prize instantly in their account (online), but if it is offline, winners only need to come to the seller to take the prize without any complicated process. Talking about expiration date for the prize, I think every lottery gambling platform has their own rules so we cant generate an exact answer. The best thing is to ask the lottery platform about to avoid losing the prize. By the way, I dont think there will be lottery winner who will skip/leave the account or leave the prize for that long because most lottery players will always try to get their prize as soon as they notice that they win it.

Such procedures is only available on physical casinos where the tickect holder make purchase in person frombthe lottery store and at some point presenting your valide ID alone may not be the requirement to claim your winning after leaving it for a long time

But then, why should anyone who won such an amount in lottery or a jackpot leace his rewards unclamed for auch a long time without even checking to know what the conditions are.

Even at such a time is not an unlimited time to claim your price, and sometimes, lottery prizes are presented to the winner in a ceremonial way so the lottery company will make the awards as early as possible for the winner.

It is still our responsibility to check on the status of our tickets so we'll never miss the results as some casinos don't reach out to their winners so we must also do some actions to stay updated.
yups and the thing is Every casino has expiration it only depend on how long per casino yet it will expired.and also
why would they not put expiration when this is one of their tool to take back our winning ? this is a legitimate way of denying our claim
when we end uo not coming in the given time.

thats and easy way of betting in lottery mate, as your country have the easiest way to claim winning ,
because here in my country you have to go in the Main office of Government gambling  corporation to provide your ticket and
to show yourself personally .

If we do talk about physical lotteries or something that government been running then of course they would really be giving out that longer duration on when you would really be claiming your price
if you are  the winner on which same as said that they might really be that in other country or far place on which we know that adjustments and transactions need to be dealt but in overall this is why i do love on betting on lotteries which is done lottery for me to avoid the hassle on going into other places if ever you do win.  :)

When it comes to online lotteries then it wont really be that a problem since prizes or jackpots could really be that immediately get if ever you would really be able to hit.
There are really just those people who cant really just that take time on reading up some terms for them to be able to atleast being wary
about those terms for them not to ask out these kind of information.

even if you don't read it, you still have to comply to their rules which sucks but those are the rules, can't do anything about that.

It suck because it is likely to get you on the wrong side (loosing) after being on the brigth side (winning) so it can be confusing for yourself to understand if you are a winner or a looser  ;D
Seriously, there has to be a time limit because in practice the organisations cannot just keep the money waiting for the "winner" to pick up forever. Even Swiss banks will confiscate the accounts if they are not active for 25 years.

When someone is winning in a lottery, It takes time before they claim their prizes especially if the winning amount is the jackpot prize since there's a lot of process to be done before they give the money. The lottery rewards may expire or they only give a duration how long does it takes for the winner to claim or to submit a documents for their prizes. You're right that the lottery ticket has their expiration date at the back of the tickets so better to always check. here in our country, the process of claiming the winning prize, the winner should present valid ID and the winning ticket and also needs to fill out the required forms and the tickets need to be  validated. It takes time for the verification due to some legal process but once verified, Treasury dept will issue a check to the winner's name.

Actually the requirements on claiming reward is very easy. Just provide valid ID and the winning ticket to claim it since they will just issue a check for your prize in your name so that you can withdraw it to a bank. The process is not that complicated if you hold the legit winning ticket.

It’s true that winners have a lot of time to claim it. In my country, winners has a up to one year of time to claim the reward I believe this is due to privacy purposes since winners usually want to cool off the news before they claim for their safety.
But sometimes problem occur , I believe that there are instance that the winner misplace the ticket and just found out after long time so that is the reason for this question , and yes after those long time and you wanna claim it then expiration happens and yes the winner will be the game owner (as in our country the lottery is run by government)

For me this must be given longer time , at least 2-5 years maturity , because that winning amount is fund that taken from the bettor and the game provider has nothing to contribute on that, that is why the winning prize grows each day because of how much they are collecting from those days bets and they will only add part of it and the other is for operation expenses and of course the profit.

       -   Yes, you're right, there are other lottery winners who don't claim their winnings right away. Maybe they're afraid that someone they know might see them. You know what they're thinking—that something bad might happen when they find out that they've won people they know because maybe they might steal the ticket from him. That's what I'm thinking.

Or other winners think carefully about the steps to take before going to the lottery office. Others go there with someone to guide them, such as a lawyer or others who are close to them.

It solely depends on the terms and conditions as stated when the lottery was constituted.

If part of the conditions of the lottery involves forfeiture when certain conditions aren't met then it has to be the consequences and the participant has to acknowledge it.  Aside stating such conditions obviously, it should not expire, except the winner doesn't come up within a stipulated timeframe.

I would even say that the lottery organizers have a vested interest in including this clause in the lottery conditions, because in this way it allows the winners to be “deprived” of their prize. Any lottery organizer has very little desire to share prize money with participants and therefore they are willing to “collect” money from participants, but are reluctant to share this money. For some reason, the participant received a period of issuing the jackpot and now he doesn't receive anything at all. Profit. The shorter the waiting period, the better it is for the organizers. But I assume that this period may vary greatly in different countries due to local laws governing this issue, which doesn't allow the organizers to shorten this period for receiving prize money very much.

The participant is considered to have automatically accepted the conditions of the organizers as soon as he purchases a lottery ticket and has no choice but to accept these conditions. If you don’t agree, you don’t participate in the lottery. That is, in fact, there is no choice at all.

There is nothing that does not expire so when we have lottery rewards, we should be ready to use it or we can end up losing it. All rewards had it terms and conditions backing it so we need to ask or check how long the reward you is going to expire so far. Casino do not allow their reward t last long so if the user could nit use within the time frame, it will suddenly expire so the user can try and long for another with the requirements that gave them. Reward is a way to keep gamers and gamblers to kwo using a casino for as long as possible.

This is very correct, when the people focus on how they can do things better, like with first aid, tickets and everything that represents a benefit for the person, they Cannot fall asleep, the person has to be very active, it is as you say. , you have to Read the Tos well, because that is where everything is, it is very difficult for even a caisno to let things pass like that and not say Anything,  for me it is only paramount so that they can generate a more aspect of development, in every casino the things that are for profits, and to claim certain cases, I have seen that if they have a period for them to expire, and that is something that we cannot go against the rules, it is very true when they say that things are They have to Calm Down once as long as the opportunity allows it, because in the casinos they are very cautious about giving money or giving away money in a contest or in whatever question is asked, although I am in favor of that if a player wins Something, he Should be credited once in your Account without much problem.

This is what Should be done , but it is not like that, When there are Casinos that are really jealous with their prizes, it is necessary for people to claim those prizes, some say that it is worth seeing if they are not robots or something like that, but of The truth is that they are people who have won a special prize and well that is like the final "Captcha" of a casnio, that is why it is as they say, when reading the Tos the person is armored because they know what to do and how to determine if their claim Will it be successful or not, one day something happened to me that I won, I didn't play at the time and that later expired, the truth is I couldn't believe it, but that happened, then I couldn't do anything, things are like that, but I had to learn not to do it anymore, so that helped me tell myself that I have to claim all the prizes that are won at any given time, or Whatever a casino Decides to give based on the Effort that one makes as a player, because but it Expires.

So yes we should be updated on when is the expiry date of claiming the lottery rewards.

I don't even need to have any formal consultation on that... From my experiences over time, it does.. I mean, that's not supposed to be unlimited is it?... Even the winnings on casino Houses are forfeited should you not claim them on time...I think it's basically 7days apart.
So for lottery, it all depends on the casino in question and the people involved innit.. cashiers are always entitled to funds like that atimes.

Okay lets put up some example about some known lotteries like "Powerball".
They do have this kind of rule when it comes to claiming prizes.

Ticket expiration dates typically vary from 90 days to one year form the draw date depending on the selling jurisdiction, per the Mega Millions and Powerball websites. Often, the expiration date is listed on the back of each ticket.

So if we do speak about online lotteries or casinos then the best approach or thing to be done if there's no mentioning about prize expiration then
it would be wise that you should really be asking on the support or team directly so that everything would really be clarified out.

If there is a rule about the time given until it can be claimed by the winners, then claiming it after the said timeframe is denied. In fact, in our country, the rules are written on the back side of the lottery ticket where we can read the rules for claiming the prize and must be followed otherwise, it is forfeited. I think it is necessary to have an idea about the things we do, at least we have an idea of what we gonna do in case of winning the big prize. Because many things happen that some people don't value the ticket, they even put it everywhere and miss it.

It all depends on the terms and conditions attached to that lottery offer, am sure it will not bear a validity of a lifetime stay, you will have a duration of time to take before claiming it while it still valid, if nothing comes up then they may decide om giving another one your slot, just as in gambling, when you bet, you're entitled to claim your winnings as long as you're with the tickets for the game won, i still wonder as well what can keep one delayed without claiming his lifetime opportunity when he won a lottery.

I've never played lottery on online casinos or bought lottery tickets online, tbh. But I assume if you get lucky and you win, the prize will be credit to your online account automatically without having to claim it. Am I right? If yes, then there is no need to worry about expiration dates in first place! However, you should be aware that some casinos have the right to close your account and freeze your money if you remain inactive for a long period. So better check this on the casino's terms of service.

There are few reported cases in my country when lottery didn't have to pay when winner didn't show up in a year. And they actually look for them, tell in the newspapers where the ticket was purchased etc, in order to find the missing winners. Sometimes they just don't show up. Maybe people have forgotten that they bought the ticket, lost the ticket or something happened.

Before everything got digital, there was only a piece of paper to prove you are the winner. Without it it got difficult to prove. Now, here in finland there's a mandatory KYC if you want to gamble anything, and winnigs are paid directly to your account. There's no way to ask physical cash. Some say it's Orwellian, some say it's good for anti money laundering and making it more difficult for criminals to hide their money.

Here in my country , the validity to claim Lotto winning gives us 1 whole year from the draw date .

Quote
How many days is your Lotto ticket valid?
If the winning ticket is lost, Sison said the prize cannot be claimed. The validity of a winning ticket only lasts up to one year, according to Sison.Jun 27, 2023

but the problem is lost tickets are not claimable even if you have taken photo or nay proof of you having lotto ticket before it is lost.

meaning if you place your bet in our territory  then you have 365 days to claim and you asked 6 months ? that is just half of the given time.
not sure about other countries policy but here we have 1 year.

If it is a physical lottery, it has a period of 3 months depending on my country, if you do not claim the prize, those funds will go to the benefit of the towns
Yeah as I've checked the internet each countries has different policy towards their lottery winning claiming some
has 3 months , some are 6 months while others even give them 1 year, which means we must check the rules or ask the teller
first before putting your number combination(this is about physical casino)

But about online casinos? they also have time frame in their TOS but one thing is for sure that each lottery has
expiration either Online casino or physical one because the casino will not let that amount just seat waiting for claimant all their time.

also I was wondering why would a Lotto winner take long time before claiming? this is the biggest winning in
gambling world and as you have betted  surely you understand that faith and will not let the winning wait long to take.

It depends on the platform you use and their Terms and Conditions like some platform have rule of banning or deleting account after a specific time of inactivity.
rules like these can be found on their T&C page or directly just ask in their support chat, and you can also ask that they provide the winning lottery amount after long time or not.
casinos in which i play on gives lottery winnings directly into my account instantly after winning a lottery.

In an online casino, most of their requirements with their lottery live experiences have a designated month-only event, more particularly with Christmas, New Year, Halloween, and valentines Day, have a time frame only like those occasions in terms of physical lottery still depends on their requirements too, base on my country once you win and you didn't claim for a while you can claim it after couple of years once you still have the ticket of course with proper good condition to make a verification if this is legitimate or not. Before participating always try to read the rules and regulations.

Those are those traditional kind of lotteries but we've seen some types on which it could neither be daily, weekly or monthly which those are different variations but if we do speak about those
government lotteries or sweepstakes then they are usually done on daily as far as i know or either few days in a week but of course you would really be needing to buy some physical ticket for you to be able to have those chance on winning the jackpot. Just like on what most people been saying that there would really be some specific rules or terms on which you should really be needing to
read up so that you are aware that on how long they would really be allowing those winning amounts to be stored or before it would be forfeited. We do know that there would be durations
specially on physical lotteries but for online ones then it would really be that credited automatically.

First of all, why would anyone want to leave the lottery reward unredeemed to the point of expiring, this is something that I don't think will likely happen at any time because,  for someone to have won such a reward, he or she will have likely made adequate desperate attempts to be able to grab some lucky win, and that is what pushed them into buying the lottery ticket in the first place, so they may and will never leave their winning rewards unclaimed and if they do and the time expires,  then that is on them and should be ready to bear the cost of the chances of the rewards.

There are other lottery winners who do not know that the ticket they are holding has an expiration date. Here in our country, it was reported that there was a winner of the lottery who, before claiming his winnings, spent several months before claiming the money.

What the winner did was that he didn't let his family know that he won the lottery in their area. Now what happened is that there is one of the winner's friends who also likes to bet on the lottery, and he always knows where he is. Someone won. Now he found out that the winner was his acquaintance, so he looked for him, and when he saw that the ticket was about to expire to get the winning prize, he killed him and stole the ticket.

I am not familiar with lottery where the prize needs to be claimed manually, so I have a question in case someone is unable to claim it due to health issues or other things like you said.
Can the prize be claimed by other person? I mean the one who own the ticket ask someone he/she trust such as friend/familiy member to redeem it or only the winner who can redeem it?
Anyway yes I have to agree that someone may in a situation when he/she cant go anywhere for long period of time especially if it is related to health but if it is because of travelling abroad, I think most winner will prefer to come back as soon as possible if they know that he/she wins a lottery especially if it is a big amount.

I don't think that a person would do that deliberately but there can be situations in life where you will have to leave certain things behind even if you don't want to. Someone who doesn't claim or withdraw their lottery winnings from a platform must have forgotten that they've bought a few tickets in that lottery and they have won the reward from it. If they come to know about their winnings, I'm sure they will somehow manage to take some time out and redeem their reward.

We all know how tiny the chances for us to win a lottery which can also be a reason for someone to have forgotten about buying tickets in a certain lottery because they might have been doing that for quite some time and never won anything so they had the same thing in mind that they can't win based on how low their winning probability was.

In my country, the rules have constantly changed in relation to the period that the winner of the ticket has to withdraw the money they won, but as the companies that organize lotteries are private companies and they have the right to set rules that they want and the people when they buy tickets, they agree with the TOS of these companies, so if 30 days or 90 days pass without the lottery winner appearing to collect the prize, then it is declared that there was no winner and the same prize value continues until for someone else to win the jackpot

Now, in the case of online lotteries, it seems to me that things are more complicated, because there are sites that currently place a limit of up to 6 months in which someone can have an inactive account, after 6 months of inactivity they block the person's account with all funds that are in the account, on other sites they impose a fine after someone has been inactive for 6 months. The problem with this is what they will do in case someone wins the lottery and does not see the email notification that they were the winner and that person remains inactive for more than 6 months. I know it would be difficult for anyone to forget that they bought a lottery ticket

but in the case of online sites, it is very easy for people to forget that they bought lottery tickets, this is because many of the online lottery sites are not very popular and people end up participating in the lottery and forgetting that they participated. Be that as it may, I suggest that people always write down the addresses of the sites they participate in somewhere. So you won't forget the lottery site or any event you participated in.

Due to small odds on winning a lottery then is true that people might forgotten on having those kind of checks from time to time in regarding their tickets whether its a loss or winning one.
Due to that repetition of things like purchasing or buying a ticket then losing on day to day basis then yourself would really be getting used to it and on the time that one of those combinations
do make some good hit then you wont really be making yourself that wary about if there's one that make out some hit. It would really be a total waste if someone hasnt been able to claim
his huge win just because he had forgotten on checking it out whether its a win or not? For a lottery bettor then its unlikely to be having this kind of behavior
on which its impossible that you wont really be making checks on the time that you do buy a ticket.

Ypu aren't going to get one solid answer and for your local lottery I imagine it says it on the ticket or you can Google it.  But for the US I think lottery winnings are good for a year after the date it went off.  I could be wrong but I think that's it.  Same for scratch offs something like a year from when they released those tickets.  Again all searchable online.  If this is a concern I'd go look it up and not depend on an answer from this forum.

I know most local lottery have almost the same rules, winners are urge to claim their winning, some are months abut some at least within a year after the draw, that's the rule related to claiming here in my area for national lottery, but it is recommended to claim it asap. So that 6 months is still good if you win here, in US the national Powerball lottery only have 6 months expiry after the draw.

So if you are buying lottery tickets make sure you read and follow its rules first to understand what will you do if you win.

When it comes to doing things to claim tickets, rewards or something similar, you have to understand something, you always want to do it because it is money that was earned, it is money that was done and you have it there, I am one of those who think Something , if anything was won in a casino, the casino should put it in the account and let sperosn use it whenever he wants/can, not make it expire, because that is something that, as they have said, you can see that there are people who at a given time If they win something, but they are going through a bad moment in their life, a time where things have to be left behind and other things have to be taken care of, let's not know the emergencies or something, it is not the fact that a prize or A money that was Won is not only Correct , because just as money is left Deposited , then if you do not play for 3 or 6 months, that money that is kept there goes into the hands of the casino? That doesn't make sense, well at least I don't see it that way, maybe I see things from another point of view very Differently than how others see it, for that reason I always say that I don't agree with this.

Personally, I wasn't able to claim a prize in a casino for a long time, but why? because in those days I had to go because my wife gave birth to the girl, and to be honest I forgot to claim that prize, and about 2 weeks passed when my Mind calmed down a Little and I was able to come to my senses of what I had to do And it was at that Moment when I went to claim what I had won and it turns out that I lost it, the money was blocked in that casino , and then when I unlocked it, the gift I received expired and I couldn't do anything else, and The truth is, I dare to complain about something like that, so what? So I left it like that, but if there is a particular prize that someone wins in a casino there should not be a date or time for it to expire, that is something they should not put, because if this money in the casino let's assume 1000usd and if not I play in 3 months or 6 , the Casino is not going to return that money to my account or is it? That's just what I mean by this.

At an online casino? usually the value won will be immediately credited to the winner's balance without having to claim it, so you will be able to withdraw the money at any time because the money is already in your account unless the lottery prize is in another form maybe there will be a way to claim it, and actually it would be better for you to read about the lottery rules because the casino will include the rules regarding the lottery that is being held.

If he buys lottery ticket at an online casino then the winning money will always go into the account balance directly and even if he is not active for several months the winning money will still be stored in the account balance without needing to worry about losing it, except for the casino he uses experience bankruptcy or close down, there may be series of problems that will occur in order to get the money.

But if he bought it in land-based casino then the casino manager might consider the prize forfeited, but if the manager at a trusted and popular land-based casino added a large amount of winnings then they would definitely look for him and confirm that the ticket he bought had won the jackpot.
From this it can be concluded that it all depends on where he bought the ticket and the casino will always prioritize customer comfort and trust rather than claiming that the winnings are forfeited.

However when it comes to bonuses, there will always be an expiry time lag in claiming the prize.

Every lottery in every country has a length of time that you can claim your prize based on their terms, here in our country you have one year to claim your prize or the prize will be forfeited, every platform has its own terms when it comes to the expiry of the ticket, so it's better that you check the expiration of the winning ticket before betting so you have something to remember, there were times that ticket holders forget their winning ticket or maybe they hit the jackpot and they are on vacation and they are not aware or even if they are aware they just plan to claim it after their vacation.

Right. Always read the terms and conditions. If you know when to expect the winnings in case you win, at least check it until that day. Usually lottery prizes have expiration dates and if you don't claim your prize within a certain period, you might forfeit your winnings. It's unlikely that the casino would refund your money if you fail to claim your prize within the specified time frame thats why its important to stay informed about the terms and conditions of the lottery you're participating in to ensure you don't miss out on any potential winnings. It s basic

Also be mindful and responsible, if you know that you have a bet, be updated in winning result because there's a lottery draw daily, so there's a lot of possible winners in a daily basis. Upon checking, some lottery gives at least 7 days to claim you're prizes and you're right, unlike in other casino there's a possibility to claim you prize even if you're unable to claim it on time.

When we talk about local lotteries or lotteries that we are participating in real life, it's definitely our responsibility to go and find out the winner after the draw and if we are the winner, we should claim the prize because we are not asked for your personal address or mailing address or anything when buying tickets so that the money can be sent to you, and it's not their responsibility either, they wouldn't take the risk of delivery the money on your doorsteps and would want you to come and claim it with the ticket in your possession.

However, when it's to online lotteries, the scenario would be different since the platform where you participate in a lottery must ask you to create an account first, and in case you win the lottery, the amount should be added to your account, and then they should give you a specific deadline for you to withdraw the funds before they confiscate them.

Here in my country the national lottery winners have up to one year to claim their prize before it gets forfeited. I don't know about online casinos lottery terms but I think prizes will remain on accounts until you cash it out. I think validity will vary depending on countries.

What you mentioned is correct; it's just that there are other lotto winners who don't know that there is an expiration date for claiming the winning jackpot. So the due date reaches them, and when they take the winnings, the ticket is no longer void because the expiration date has passed.

So it is important, as Lotto Bettor, that we know their rules if ever the number of choices you make wins. Second, the ticket should also be kept; it's also important that it not be wrinkled or read so as not to be seen or malfunction when it comes to claiming.
