Title: Ledger Live Update?
Post by: jerry0 on July 15, 2023, 06:02:05 AM
I'm still using the older version of ledger live 2.57.0 and haven't updated it in months.

I heard the latest ledger live update, ledger live 2.62.2 has issues?  Can anyone confirm this?

Any issue with connecting your nano ledger s plus to your laptop while still using the old ledger live 2.57.0 version or you should update first to 2.62.2 and then connect your nano ledger s plus to it?  Or it doesn't matter unless you are planning to do a transaction?

What problems are you talking about, other than Ledger Recovery I don't think there is a problem.

Yes, you can use old versions or even link your wallet to electrum and use it with old versions for as long as possible, but the question is for when? You will reach a point where you really need to update The firmware, and Ledger Live, which may mean that you agree to Ledger Recovery in one way or another.

If you do not trust HW to install all new updates, it is better to buy a new hardware wallet or use AirGaped system.

I doubt any Ledger user here still uses Ledger Live, or even Ledger products. I assume you're well aware of their latest recovery fiasco, so just use Electrum if you still planning on using your hardware wallet or move on to another one. I do recall somebody claiming their Ledger failed to connect with Electrum properly with outdated firmware. While there is a solution I'd second the suggestion to look for other options other than Ledger as of now. CMIIW.

You can also build your own cold wallet setup with Electrum. It takes some time to learn but it is worth compared to risking your funds to some unverifiable firmware update that might expose your seed without concern.
