Title: How do I import the copied text transaction Post by: Sidney986 on July 17, 2023, 05:00:33 PM I made a transaction on a watch only wallet on Android using electrum v4.4.5.0.
When I tried to export the transaction as a QR code I got the following message. "Warning: Some data (prev txs / "full utxos") was left out of the QR code as it would not fit. This might cause issues if signing offline. As a workaround, try exporting the tx as file or text instead." Now, there is no option on android electrictrum to save as a file. I can copy the text and put it in a txt file but what should I name the extention and will it work if imported as a file. This slows the process right down, so hopefully a fix on the scanner or at the very least an option to save the transaction file to be signed in file format so I can transport to the offline computer. I have submitted a bug report on GitHub. Let's have the transaction copied from the wallet and it's in your clipboard now. Open the wallet, click send, click the paste button (icon). In the next window you will see two buttons. Since my one is a multi signature wallet, it is showing me Share button on the left bottom. I am assuming if I was the (n-1)th signer then it would show send/sign button and finally would allow me to broadcast the transaction. If you are copying/saving a file, I don't think you need an extension for it. The software will do its own job. You can save the copied text onto a txt file or none, the important thing is the contents. And send it to your offline Electrum, open the file "as text" or open using a text editor app and then copy its contents. Is the offline Electrum also Android? If so, you can import it via "Send->Paste", then you can proceed to sign and broadcast the transaction. If Desktop, use "Tools->Load transaction->from text". Thanks I use tails to sign offline. I will past the text to a .txt file and try importing it. When I issued a report on GitHub about the QR scanning error message, I was told "if the data won't fit in a qr code, then it won't fit." So how would I make it fit? Why have the option to scan a QR code that won't fit? Title: Re: How do I import the copied text transaction Post by: ranochigo on July 20, 2023, 02:36:48 AM Thanks I use tails to sign offline. I will past the text to a .txt file and try importing it. If your transaction is too big, then it won't fit in the QR code. Electrum uses a different encoding for the QR code data (IIRC), which compressed your transaction quite significantly. That is a limitation of how much data a QR code can contain and it is not Electrum's call. Most transaction would fit in that QR code unless it is excessively big. When I issued a report on GitHub about the QR scanning error message, I was told "if the data won't fit in a qr code, then it won't fit." So how would I make it fit? Why have the option to scan a QR code that won't fit? This issue, yes?: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/8538 (https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/8538)So how would I make it fit? Why have the option to scan a QR code that won't fit? It's a limitation with the QR Code format electrum uses, transaction with lots of inputs just wont fit on it. The only way to circumvent this is for the recipient (wallet where it'll be imported) to toggle "Download missing data" after importing the txn. But for offline Electrum, it wont be possible; and that's the note or warning message (to use txt) is for. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW? You have a singed transaction saved on a file and now you want to broadcast it using the mobile version of electrum. Am I getting you correctly? If so, open the file using text editor application, copy the transaction to your clipboard. In the mobile application, tap on "Send", then "Paste" and after that "broadcast" button. Note that you can also export the transaction as a QR code and scan it with your mobile. |
