You can go to the receive tab where you can generate an address and if you want to see a list of your addresses, then you can head to the "Addresses" tab. If that's not showing, go to the menu -> View -> Show addresses.

I'm curious, you said a trader asked you for an address. Are you referring to the exchange platform you're using, or you're dealing with an individual?

Bitcoin addresses begins with 1, 3 or bc1. To save fee, use the bc1 address.

Edit:
Electrum addresses start from bc1 known as segwit addresses.

Are you using the desktop version of electrum or the mobile version?
If you are using the desktop version, do what OmegaStarScream said above.

If you are using the mobile version, tap on "Receive" button and then "Create request". In the new screen, tap on "Address" button under the QR Code. The QR code contains your bitcoin address and you can give it to anyone. To see your address in text format, tap on the QR code.
You can also tap on your wallet name at top left corner of the screen and select "Addresses" to see all your addresses.

Warning:
Make sure that you have downloaded electrum from the official website and you have verified your download.
Double check the address after copy-pasting that. There are clipboard malwares that can replace the copied address with hackers address.
