Title: How do you convince your spouse to let you do things they think you can't do? Post by: Zee27 on August 11, 2023, 09:28:06 PM I've been trying to get my boyfriend to get me some renovation equipment as I have intentions to give our bathroom a new look and he's been refusing with the claims that I can't do it and I might eventually get hurt. Lol I appreciate his care and concern, but I get bored when I'm not looking at crypto charts, sewing or doing something important and I thought to get occupied with renovating our bathroom.
He refused and he's not going to do it because he's got no time. Now I'm stuck with the ugliest blue tiled bathroom ever. Guys how do you convince your partners to let you do things you want to do? Post by: BADecker on August 12, 2023, 05:11:17 PM If they beat you (or the kids) when you take it in hand and do it, there are government agencies, private agencies, divorce courts (although I hate the idea of divorce), and several large churches that will help you out... even for free.
If he doesn't like what you did with the bathroom color, he can call in the painters and paint it back. When you paint it back yet again, it might finally get into his thick skull that this is an important thing for you in your life. Such domestic work is full of risk for a single person to do. Maybe, both of you can do something when he's less busy. Post by: Hydrogen on August 14, 2023, 05:07:15 AM Homedepot hosts free workshops with step by step instructionals on DIY home improvement.
https://www.homedepot.com/workshops/ (https://www.homedepot.com/workshops/) Attending one of their events might show you're serious about it. They also rent out equipment to make it easier to avoid buying expensive tools you might only use once. I renovated a bathroom once where step #1 was hours of removing the existing tile floor by battering it with a heavy steel bar with a blade on the end. Its not the easiest or most glamorous work and its not for everyone. If you're serious about it. Look for the hardest and most labor intensive thing that needs doing around the household. Then go do it. Home renovations are more sweat and heavy lifting than intellectual or artistic pursuit. Title: Re: How do you convince your spouse to let you do things they think you can't do? Post by: mich on August 14, 2023, 07:12:24 AM One of the things that my ex girlfriend did not think I could do was mechanic work. And I am not just talking about like changing a tire, changing the motor oil of a car, or the basic stuff.
I am talking about things like changing an axle or changing the brake pads on my vehicle, or flushing out the transmission fluid. And every time she thought I was going to fail I ended up doing a great job because I researched videos on how to do it yourself on YouTube. At first, I said it was like cheating but not really because it's probably what my mechanic would have done if he encountered a problem Title: Re: How do you convince your spouse to let you do things they think you can't do? I tried convincing him to let me and he wouldn't. I'm just gonna ignore the colour of the tiles when I go in the bathroom. I'm here. What you wanna talk about? Haha I hope it's some advice to help my relationship 😄 Title: Re: How do you convince your spouse to let you do things they think you can't do? Yeah right? Since his claims is about my safety. I'll just give him some time. Title: Re: How do you convince your spouse to let you do things they think you can't do? By the way, men who fixes their stuffs themselves are usually hot ☺️ Title: Re: How do you convince your spouse to let you do things they think you can't do? Post by: sesterceshop on August 16, 2023, 07:42:56 AM Tell your boyfriend that you're not going to renovate the bathroom alone. You're going to renovate it with him, and he's going to be your assistant. He can hold the ladder, fetch the tools, and make sure you don't get hurt. It'll be a bonding experience for the two of you, and you'll get a new bathroom out of it.
If he's still not convinced, tell him that you're going to hire a contractor to do the work, and he's going to have to pay for it. That'll usually get him to change his mind.
