Me and a buddy went hard collecting Series 1.

Hoping to see some cool stuff from Series 2, however, the preview cards are a bit underwhelming so far.

Really think that the artwork should have been a big improvement for this series, but the wine bottle and Einstein, as well as the emerald black cloak satoshi? are really lame. Just looks like cheap copy and paste clip art.

The promo pics for Series 1 with the Bitcoin Bull, Satoshi Jones, Elon, etc. are really eye catching. Nothing really comparable in the Series 2 promo pics.

You would think they'd add some of the best artwork for the Series 2 promo pics like they did with the first series.

I'm keeping my hopes up, but will wait and see before I jump into collecting Series 2.

Has this ever been done before? Wouldn't it make more sense to just destroy the cards that didn't make it into the Series 1 packs?

I get why they would want those cards to be distributed, but to me, it's part of the history of Series 1. A production error meant certain cards
never made it into the packs and that should remain as is.

Someone had the idea of inserting the missing S1 meta-rare cards into S2 and call them "retro meta-rares"

That would have been my opinion, but the decision was made.
But anyway, now I'm looking forward to the new series which comes out in 2 days and of which also some sealed packs remain on the shelf.  :D

Had so much fun with series 1 discovering all the cards.   Cant wait for series 2.  Ill order some once they are released.  I agree some of the promo images are a bit underwhelming, but the excitement is going to lay in pulling all the new cards.  Once these are released I will have to avoid reddit and this thread until I get some and open them myself.  Each card pull is exciting before you know what all is available.  Cant wait!

Often times, Panini has special early adopter boxes called first off the line. I wish I had mentioned it earlier.  The FOTL have special cards inserted.   that would double the anticipation

Did the release date get changed to 09/19/2023? Checking the retailer that i  usually buy from and it states the 19th? Maybe its only this retailer?

I can tell a few cold foils. Queen Elizabeth, Elon, and Saylor. I can't tell the last one. It's a bald man. But I can't figure out who.

As for the "lost cards" I agree. They should of destroyed them. Then those cards are even more rare and the history of why is interesting and adds to it. I don't like this plan to insert in S2 at all and have been debating on if I want to go as hard with series 2. I may just sit this one out and buy a few packs here and there.

General question here - is the hype for Series 2 still going? Thought there would be more posting leading up to their release. Maybe it will start going once the card packs start opening

I think there’s more hype than ever. The subreddit is very active now so I assume a lot of people browse there too. Lots of activity on eBay and the prices are impressive on many cards. I’ve seen a lot of base 1a’s and 7’s which surprised me because of how rare they used to be at one point

I’m still enjoying building s1 base sets and holofoil sets, but can’t wait for s2

Does anyone know where I could find a checklist for series 2? I've been looking everywhere on the web without luck. Not even the official website has it. There was a Reddit post with an image of the checklist, but it got deleted for some reason.

Not a fan of series 2 from the ones I've seen so far.  I had some Cardsmiths points so ordered 1 box of series 2 that's out for delivery today.  Come on redemption card... come to daddy!

I've checked out the Series 2 cards and I am disappointed. The quality of the cards and the gamification are improved.

The art is bad. It's as if they came up with ideas for a card, did a little sketch and said... this is good enough... onto the next card.
There are definitely a few cool cards in the series, but overall, it feels rushed and unintelligent in design.

There appears to be less congruence in this series. The tone and feel of the set is just... what is it? The only word I can think of is, lame.

It's unfortunate, as I collected Series 1 with some serious fervor.

dang that's sad to hear, im going to just stick my unopened 12 box case in the safe for a few years then, are they giving away free crypto like they did in series 1 ? if so is there more info on the stats of that, like how much and how many cards/. ty

Check it out for yourself! Imo a ton of great art like series 1.. There are redemption cards still of course, but I’m not sure of the amounts of each

Redemptions are 1 per case, so you would likely have a 1/4 chance of having a redemption. Not sure of the amounts possible, but they say there are whole bitcoin redemptions to be had.

But yeah, check the cards out for yourself. It's just my opinion from what I've seen, and as a fan of the series, I'd rather be honest about it and hopefully Cardsmiths will turn out a banger of Series 3.

There's apparently some big drama on the Reddit discussion about the distribution of the Series 2 cards.

Anyone here opened enough cases/boxes to shed some light?

i had the same thoughts. as example i haven't seen a single Nick Szabo refractor that was pulled.
And that is just the one card that i was following. From my view it looked like all the first batch of series 2 that were shipped didn't had some cards at all. And there was no chances to get them.
I could be wrong, but yet again, as example : card #36. Anyone seen it in gem anywhere? :)

I just hope I have cash ready when the series 1 mr's drop. I need to prepare.

Any word of a diamond redemption this time?

  Sounds like they will do diamonds, but will be much tougher to get. There was a hint it could be sending in a Crystal sparkle set.

Oh wow ok. That's definitely going to be harder. Especially with all the packs not being mixed. Several people are saying their packs are dupes. Some mix up with the sorting I guess. I have only ripped 3 packs. Because Im not that impresses tbh. But I love to rip and will have some fun. Just not going as hard as I did with series 1.  But good to know.

  Nothing for certain. He did say it would be harder to get. they had these sorting issues with 1 too. i had to wait till the last cases before #27 golds came out. Its just what they do with the gemstones. the sparkles, holos and iced foils should be fully out.

Are we still tracking Series 2 here? I just opened up a master case and can post results. Kinda surprised that there's no activity here for Series 2 - more activity on the subreddit

Definitely post your results here. There's a different group dynamic here. Many more collectors that started with Series 1 before the Diamond redemption program. The subreddit is cool for what it is, but more of a shitcoiner mentality there.

Will be interesting to see if they do another Diamond or other redemption program for Series 2. Many of the subreddit people only started collecting after GameStop started selling the cards. They were salty that they missed out on the Diamonds and quite a few claim that the 1/1 Diamond refractors aren't official Series 1 Currency cards and they don't consider them part of the set. I'm sure they will change their tune with a Series 2 redemption program because they actually have a chance to get in on it this time.

Couldn’t agree more. This is series two in a nutshell. It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is. I have been accumulating but not like I did series 1. There are some card designs in series 2 that make tally sticks interesting. 🤨 More of the designs seem to have less and less to do with crypto, with many just having ‘art’ of items that have sold for money, so this somehow qualifies as a currency related card. Using this criteria would qualify literally anything as justification for a Cardsmiths currency card. I was hoping they would incorporate more alt coin art, instead there are more random things used as currency at some point in history or historically significant figures in history, some having some connection to currency, other not.. I get that it is a ‘currency’ card franchise but the primary base of collectors came from the crypto space. This is what made the cards interesting, and the art was captivating, mostly. They did improve the quality and presentation of the cards in many ways but overall, I couldn’t agree more with the statements mentioned in the quote above. To sum it up… Lame

Holiday packs sold out as a pre-sale. I went to buy some last week and they were already gone, all 2023 packs. Holy cow.

 Bro, people are charging $200 a box. Your best bet is to buy individual cards on ebay. You can get a full base set for $40. Holofoils running 10-20$ and just buy the gems you can find. All the holiday cards will be gone in a month or so. They didnt make very many.

Yep. I get it. I have already put together a base set and am picking up the others I like. I do enjoy having unopened packs for my collection as well. I always save unopened packs for any cards I collect. Listing for $200 on eBay is not necessarily the price someone will sell a pack for, especially if I am willing to buy several. There was an offer here for a face value pack as well, so I though I’d ask.
