Title: What features are now expected from cryptocurrencies?
Post by: MundoCoin on August 22, 2023, 08:48:15 AM
There are a lot of cryptocurrencies on the market right now, from those that focus on privacy to those that focus on development.
What other features or technologies are out there that people are hoping to get?

Nothing.

If someone want a decentralized coin, pseudonymous, high security and will never turn become a scam coin, they can choose Bitcoin.

If someone want a privacy oriented coin and completely anonymous, they can choose Monero.

If someone want a centralized coin and there's a chance the project turn become scam, they can choose any coins including the coin you created e.g. MundoCoin.

I agree with @Apocollapse above.
There's really not much that can be done since many projects are already created. Actually, they just keep on recycling all those projects that were made during the ICO hype.
As long as something can prove his reputation, will not end up as a scam coin, and is backed by an item that can be prove worthy then I guess it's a good-to-go feature.
We don't need those coins that create too much hype by just using the name of another coin or a popular person like a billionaire. They will all just end up either dust, a scam, or a rug pull project.

Feeless (minimal fee) and quick transactions would be a good selling points for cryptocurrency of the future. NANO, BANANO are some decent examples but we specially need them as utility tokens for dapps and dex. No one would mind paying a minimal fee like a cent when the transaction are fast but our current options have an ever changing fees and the congestion increases when there's a market trend.
So, I believe a ETH competitor with a fixed minimal fee and quick transactions is what we all expect.

Obviously, Bitcoin has set a standard that will be very difficult for any promising project out there will beat.
Most of the features we would have needed we got them in Bitcoin, Then when you mention privacy coins and coins that have speedy transactions and low fees coins such as LTC, xlm, and xrp are available. The bottom line is that we have had more than enough coins existing today, Instead of bringing more coins, improvement should be done on already existing ones or projects.

Anonymity! Transactions are tied to a random sequence of characters and not to the owners identity, including personal or company data. The popularity of some virtual currencies indicates the scale of demand and supply. It is practically impossible to link contracts with people or companies.

Not a lot.

It seems that we've got almost everything on it. Like from having those projects that deals with renewable energy, to accounting, to anything as in.

Nothing.
We're on the same page, that's why OP if you think that there's more to it then we think that there's really no need for new ones.

The most basic function of all cryptocurrencies is speculation. Everything else is secondary. The main task of an altcoin developer is to convince you to buy his coins, and he will convince you in various ways. Someone emphasizes privacy, someone emphasizes development, someone emphasizes scalability, etc. For the most part, the bulk of investors do not need all these features and developments, with rare exceptions. 99% of altcoin investors are interested in how fast an altcoin will grow so that they can sell it profitably.

I think that a future blockchain should definitely be scalable, decentralised, sustainable, user-friendly and transparent. There are more factors, but these are the important ones for me.

Nowadays, all the focus is on decentralization or I can say most of the focus on decentralization, but some of the cryptocurrencies are focusing on the blockchain technology, that they should make new features in blockchain technology which is hard to do.

Honestly if it's something that already exists chances are that coin isn't needed and will show with buy volume and market cap.  I think what's needed is fresh new ideas that actually solve some sort of problem, last thing we need is more clone coins or tokens that do exactly what some other coin already does.

It's perfectly fine for you to continue to hold on to your old ideas, times are changing and people's needs are increasing.
Technology is also getting newer.
If you jump to the conclusion that it's a scam just because I'm trying to understand the needs of the market, then your advice and statements are meaningless to anyone else.

I just do market research, collect available suggestions and incorporate them into my own projects.
You don't have to reply if you don't think it's necessary, there's no need for attacks and false accusations.
Thanks!

It seems like that market analyzation tool is still having a good prospect for the future. I knew there are some like nansen and arkham. The only problem if these tools were not free especially nansen.
I need to pay a lot of money to subscribe it. It will be good if i will able to use a similar platform that is offering free service.

I will not put blockchain as my primary concern as we have so many feeless blockchain. I would prefer to focus into the something that will be beneficial not only for investors but for traders too.
It will be so good to have a similar platform like nansen but it's free. We don't have a lot of blockchain analyzation platform like that.

It can still offer opportunity.

There are nothing feature or technologies are people hoping from investing in altcoin or bitcoin except with focus profitable only, not important when any altcoin or bitcoin have real feature or technologies adopted at the future because investor goals how to earn profit as much possible with their cryptocurrencies investment. Right now there are not any altcoin or bitcoin with real production and investors not get feature after investing in cryptocurrencies except profit only, as needed by investor how faster price up from altcoin or bitcoin investment than hope or expected with feature or technologies will adopt by cryptocurrency in the future.

Not in my mind when investing in cryptocurrency expected any feature or technology hoping, my goal when investing in bitcoin or altcoin how possible to earn profit only.

If you disagree with my opinion, it's mean you're already know the answer and you want to create your own altcoin, then why do you need to ask?

The fact is there are active contributors in Bitcoin's development until now, the project isn't abandoned and continue to give a solution about the scalability issue. If you say your project will fix scalability issue, you're wrong. Your project is still new and either no or tiny volume, unlike Bitcoin.

It's like, I ask people if the market needs new flavours of pizza and you guys say that there are enough pizza flavours on the market and that you're creating new flavours just to rip people off.

More liquidized and more decentralized like bitcoins because this is the only way to overcome other competitors nowadays especially those who are starting to make their own crypto projects. the market has gone too far now and they should have come up with new valid things that are not only imaginations in their roadmaps which most likely are not true. What we need today are cryptocurrencies that cannot budge whatever the SEC does to them and they cannot do something about it except it is illegal internationally but as I said, if they can make another like bitcoins and have some advanced features and kinds of stuff and also being decentralized, it would be better.

Some features that I find intriguing:
  • Proof of Stake without blockchain
  • Offline transactions
  • Decentralized high-frequency trading
  • Two-way communication between distributed ledgers
Actually you can see all open research questions in Blacknet: https://gitlab.com/blacknet-ninja/blacknet/-/issues/?label_name%5B%5D=research (https://gitlab.com/blacknet-ninja/blacknet/-/issues/?label_name%5B%5D=research)

A deeper basis is required for cryptocurrencies than simply copying Bitcoin's decentralization. Search the area! There are numerous initiatives on the market with roadmaps full of flimsy assurances. Their lack of vision causes them to fail.

The SEC and other foreign organizations will continue to oppose cryptocurrencies, so what you're recommending seems more like a disobedience tactic than a calculated approach. These projects should provide original and practical solutions to current issues rather than merely creating a "Bitcoin 2.0." Its not about eluding authorities but rather about building a system that is so strong and unquestionably superior that authorities will have no choice but to submit to it.

A bit of a contradiction here, maybe about the argument from the OP, but I think more than anyone else, how problems in life will be using crypto, not creating things to solve problems. that problem. And this relationship will work back and forth, we will see early hype about features that are supposed to solve the problem but actually are nothing, the rest is still here is btc we have over time.

Honestly decentralization is the only thing I would look at for the new ones. If a project tells you to give them some money so they could keep working on it and make it something better, then I am not going to invest into it. Why would I want to give someone money so that they could build their ideal coin or token?

I could do that myself, it is not the point. They should build it, even if funded, but should build it at the start and then leave it alone. They could still get paid if they want to, for like marketing and all, or just for the work they put in already, but they should leave the coin alone after it's released. If a project could change anything at all, then I am out, that's not decentralized and I am out.

To be honest? I'm not really sure if there are people who are looking for features or technologies,

(a) ever heard of the term "investors"? it means that they are investing their money and looking for profits, regardless of the technology
(b) individuals who are here for just the pump and dump coins and join the bandwagon of meme coins such as shiba and doge or pepe, just a quick turn around of profits

This is just my thoughts, I might be wrong though.

Many coins already have "focus on development", but they are either unable to provide as what they are promising isn't yet solvable. So they provide low quality versions of their promises, but they are all smoke and mirrors and have been build top of fundamentally wrong design so they are not solving the problem they should.

Permissionless L1 that has top notch Privacy smart contracts, but at the same time tokens issued on it are regulatory friendly so that it includes the option of issuing securities. So, basically decentralized privacy combined with auditability. Solve that and you'll get my interest.

Quite rightly there are already a lot of cryptocurrencies in the market, and most of them either just copy the features of other coins or they promise features that they really cannot offer. I don't think we need anymore new coins, they more often than not turn out to be useless coins without any actual utility or even scam coins at the worst. Having said that, if people need a coin with an actual utility, they'd have to use Bitcoin or a few other altcoins that have utility, as for speculation, they can pick the coins they think would pump and give them ROI, but no more new coins with fake promises!

maybe Cryptocurrencies were expected to maintain a high level of security through cryptographic techniques and decentralized networks, reducing the risk of fraud, hacking, and central points of failure. and also Many earlier cryptocurrencies faced challenges in terms of transaction speed and scalability. Newer cryptocurrencies were expected to address these issues to enable faster and more efficient transactions, especially during periods of high network activity.
