I also came to know about them recently, as I was reading them for a lot of time but never hesitated to know more about them. But once a member made a post about Factoid then I came to know that we can apply to add and remove some factoids and there are some rules to that. I am mentioning these here for you OP and other people who are not aware of the factoids so that they can get some knowledge about it. :

I have also learned something new today thanks to your thread. These hints are very informative and I will advice some newbies to also take time to view them when it displays. They weren't placed there for no reason, but to serve as a means to inform users about some important things they should know about Bitcoin. Although some of them are no longer correct or updated but you can learn from those that are still up to date.
