Whatever you received in your email like you received an airdrop and you can get it when you import the wallet that is sent in your email which is what you used as an example. The only thing that will happen is you will indeed be able to import the wallet or open the wallet but you cannot sell or transfer the token (airdrop) and if you did sent ETH for example to the wallet then the scammer will transfer it to their wallet right away and the next thing you see is there is no balance left. Anyway, that kind of scheme is already known by most people but thanks for sharing for others to know as there might be someone who doesn't know about this scheme.

There are so much risks on joining several airdrops and the benefits to match the risk isn't worth it. Phishing links can be sent in such airdrop emails, airdrops are means scammers uses to entice unsuspecting victims although this is not to say that some airdrops aren't legit, some are legit.

But you can try to limit your risk and get a special email address you only use to join in on airdrops and you make sure to have antivirus, 2FA on your device for additional protection to be secured.

Airdrops are means by which scams  take place. Most airdrops received are basically from hackers who accessed people details as a result of their hack. It is not advisable to use your main email for most online crypto stuffs because you never can tell when they will carry out their acts. Most at times, they send malware with airdrop links for their victims to click and fall prey of their act. Once clicked they infiltrates their victims details and use it to take their assets and funds. Aside that, your social media accounts too can be porous because they would definitely send you link to click there and if care is not taken and unknown to you you click them you can be hacked and your account taken over and used for ill act by scammers. So one would need to be very careful how they click links they see in their message box.

Scam and scam, and newbies should be aware of the risk involved in connecting their wallets to such platform to receive airdrop rewards and at most times this also have security threats on the airdrop hunter overall security of the device, for instance, I never will use the any device that is connected to my email or other securities to new sites that I do not trust, so I stay away from anything that concern Airdrop most Astros e that require me to connect the wallet to receive them, many of them have stolen hunter money when they make the mistake of connecting their main wallet to register for the airdrops.

Many newbies will think they have finally found a source for optional income and they will calculate how much it will amount to base on the promise of the airdrop but at the end it may not drop. Airdrop amounts to nothing, if you calculate what you receive then you know you are not being wise by going through the stress of signing up, giving your data and email. It is funny some require KYC with selfie so you just know when you are required of selfie KYC, it is pure scam. Advise is don't click on unsolicited link sent to your email and another advise is not to link your wallet, you might lose the coins their in.

In the early days of altcoin projects it is through airdrops that they spread the news of the coin. Once many people get a few token they tend to focus on that project and this way some could even invest into it. This way the community of the project increases. This was the aim of airdrops during the early days of cryptocurrency but right now this airdrops are strategies by scanners to get into once wallet. Immediately an airdrop demands purchasing gas fee then it is likely a scam. Another is the linking of once wallet directly to the site of the project doing the airdrop.

Well, many of these newbies are thinking that they shouldn't miss any airdrop because it's a free money for them. Unknowingly, they're targeted by these scammers/hackers waiting for them to bite the bait. It's not actually mail but an e-mail. Because mails are paper based and these scammers are sending these scam details through our emails.

Gmail is a street where a lot of fake scam airdrop mail can be found.
Take note that gmail is an email service and it's not only them that provides it. Technically, every email service is prone to these attackers as it's easy as 1-2-3 to send email randomly to anyone as long as you know the email addresses of the receivers regardless of what service or provider they are using.

Much better ignore all emails receive if its coming from unknown sources since to many scammers use this to make people think that they can earn a fortune with them by participating on any activities they offer. Also for additional security don't use your main email since scammers is using that to do their scamming scheme and pass it up to other scammers so beware about spreading your emails since for sure you receive a lot of shady offers coming from unknown group of people. Altcoin airdrops is famous and we shouldn't let those scammers stole our wallets as well as important accounts.

I agree, I had received a lot of mail about airdrops, and many of them even stated the same project in different email addresses.  All I do is just ignore them, I don't even dare to open them since I know the fact that airdrops like these are just bait to phish our wallet information.

We must be very vigilant to this kind of phishing/scamming strategy so we better not get too greedy and blinded by the rewards since most airdrop if legit costs too little to compromise our wallet information.

Yes, there are many ways that scammers use to trick their victims. The easiest way is to send a mass email offering the promise of free profits, then they will ask for a certain amount of funds to be transferred or worse, they will send a phishing web address. I am quite careful in reading emails, if it provides an offer with big profits and is not logical then I will ignore it.

I think the era of altcoins is over, although there are some airdrops that provide tokens for free and have high prices such as uniswap and sui, but they are very rare. I don't want to expect much from the airdrop

Even if airdrop does not ask for private key, mnemonic seed, airdrop serves nothing than expose people with new projects that mostly are scam projects. By exposing people through airdrops, those projects can attract investor capital to their scam projects. If you don't lose money by wallet hacks, you later will lose money by buying and holding their scam tokens.

@OP you're a hypocrite, if you said airdrop is scam, bounty is also scam if the funds isn't escrowed and not paid with top 50 coins.

You were joined 🚧 [BOUNTY] Pepemo | Meme, AI, Fun! Break the Matrix PepeMo! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5459165.msg62602559#msg62602559) where this shitcoin is only worth $0.00000000003641 (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/pepemo/), this is definitely scam.

This is my counter advice: @OP, you should be aware and avoid to join any bounty because it's scam.

Ignoring all notifications that come via email or private messages via Telegram and other social media is better than being tempted by big prizes offered by scammers. Always avoid connecting a personal wallet to their platform to receive airdrop rewards as it can threaten all your assets. Instead of being tempted by offers of big prizes offered by scammers, you have to be realistic by prioritizing the safety of your assets from hacking because you want to make money easily.

The entrance through email messages, where even some of the messages also end up in the spam box, is the easiest way for fraudsters to carry out their actions and the victims are definitely beginners who are still not very smart in the crypto space. And it cannot be denied that this is still happening today so we need to provide a better understanding for beginners in terms of entrusting airdrops or messages about airdrops that come in via their email messages.

I will not blame airdrops completely for this kind of event because of the many airdrops there are definitely still genuine ones like those made by well-known exchanges now. But because there are now more and more airdrop makers and most of them were deliberately created by irresponsible developers. So we airdrop lovers really need to be careful about this because fraudsters will never stop making traps for everyone through anything, including through airdrops.

Many newbies think that some of these airdrops are legit, but after giving much of their time to it, they later find out that they are fake and not legit. The worst part of it is that they waste their money buying data to claim those airdrops and time wasted too.
Lolz, some, after calculating the amount they will receive, might end up telling other people who don't know about it to join and even putting their money there just to claim those airdrops. I have seen some airdrops where, after everything, nothing profitable comes out of it, so we should be vigilant of those false airdrops.

If you find money on the ground, this does not mean that you will find it daily at a pace that enables you to pay all your obligations. This is the same behavior that encourages people to airdrop, as there is a small possibility that one of several hundred of them will make a profit. However, this small gain makes people rush to it as long as it is written "Free" on them, but they do not feel that this free price comes with a price, either by trying to steal them, stealing their data, or wasting their time on worthless tokens.

Ignore every free Airdrop that comes to you, as you will lose a thousand dollars every few years, and use this time to learn something useful that will give you a continuous and guaranteed gain instead of dreams that may not came

Airdrops have become the playground for scammers so as much as possible, we should be aware of it and avoid participating in any suspicious airdrop as that will only steal our funds without us knowing. And while our Gmail has become an avenue for fake airdrops that keep coming, then we should learn to educate ourselves not to fall on their traps. Otherwise, these fake airdrops will continue to scam innocent and greedy people.

Lack of information and greed is the main reason why many people become victims of scam. If you don't want to be a victim of these scams just focus on only Bitcoin. There is also a need to ignore all those airdrop ads that always come with offers to make one rich overnight. Sometimes these scammers partner with some celebrities to promote these scam projects. It is now popular to see some celebrated actors, sportsmen or even comedians endorsing this project. Engaging in proper research about a project and controlling the drive to get rich quickly should be encouraged.

I believe only in famous exchange airdrop like Binance new registration/Trade and speculation airdrop for big projects like Arbitrum/Optimism/Zksync/Layerzero/Starknet.

Mail are the old way to scam people where they send malware/phising sites or fake wallet app to access your fund. Airdrop are now mostly used for hacking wallet and they used advance technology to completely washed out your wallet when you connect one time your wallet for claiming airdrop. This year most  of newbie fund stolen by this way. recently Ethereum CEO twitter hacked and before this other projects discord and twitter hacked and scammer just posted phising site and airdrop greed cause million lost for these newbies.

Many pro users will think that no one will be decieved now after saveral cases but situation is totally different. yesterday my friend send me screenshot that I won btc and ask for just 10$ , from where I should sent btc. when I saw screenshot, It was totally scam but as a newbie ny friend was not aware of it. we should teach newbie whenever we feel hackers are being strong.

Past are the days when you could earn some money giving away minimum to no personal details. One of my first activities with cryptos was taking part in the airdrop of Decred, several years ago. I think that we were around 3,000 people registered, and we were airdropped more than 1,000$ in exchange. Of course, I was a newbie and sold too early (price went nuts in the 2017 ATH and regretted my impatience) but, compared to "modern" airdrops (to call them in some way), it still was a great deal.

Now we can say that if it seems too good to be true, it is almost certainly a scam. Edit: if not backed by giant service providers like Gladitorcomeback just mentioned.

Airdrops coming to Mail only are not scams. Almost all airdrops are now scams. And airdropping can't be any kind of skill so it's stupid to waste time on them. People who are new to crypto are very happy to get few dollars like $1-$5 which addicts them to waste their valuable time doing things like airdrops. This is the biggest mistake beginners make. Of course, beginners should use that time away from tasks such as airdrops to hone their skills.

If I get an email that I don't recognize coming to my email address, I will immediately delete it and won't even look at what's in it. I often get emails like that but don't respond because I heard from my friends about scam emails. And that makes me more careful.

If they promote the airdrop on social media, we have to be more careful because it is in a public place where we don't know whether it is real or fake. And if you have doubts about the airdrop program, let alone asking you to do KYC, it's better just to leave it. Doing KYC with a $5 reward is simply not worth it. There are still many airdrop programs that you can get.

Whatever it is, you have to be more careful because the current popularity of crypto makes scammers more creative. We may never have a program turn out to be a scam.

Many airdrops today are scams, because for scammers this is a good place to carry out their actions. That's why we have to be careful when we receive an email notification and suddenly coins enter our wallet. Because many fraudsters carry out their actions by sharing links that have writing similar to successful airdrops such as Arbitum, sui etc. They deliberately use names that are similar to the original so that victims are easily caught in their depraved actions, and indeed this is a common practice in phishing fraud schemes. The reason is, users who are not careful will easily get trapped in this mode. Moreover metmask, and actually I'm a bit afraid of the vulnerability, someone can empty your wallet by connecting it to a phishing 'exchange' they send you, and they can control it to approve your transactions.

It's a shame that things like this often happen to beginners. They must understand that when they accept a smart contract trade, they are giving the contract permission to interact with their wallet. even though they do not interact with smart contracts. The contract interacts with their wallet. If you don't think you buy it, don't ever touch it. The best thing you can do is leave the tokens or move to a new wallet.

Any airdrop that you didn't put interest in participating in them by looking for them and registering should be considered a scam, I'm talking all those airdrops that we received as email invitation without knowing where they got our email from. Those projects buy emails for marketing purposes and this experience of receiving unwanted airdrops invitation emails should let us know that our information can't be trusted with centralized platforms because they collect our personal data and sell them to third parties for marketing purposes. When you receive those airdrops invitation, just block the senders and move it to spam so you don't receive emails from that sender again or you don't see them when they're sent.

@OP you're a hypocrite, if you said airdrop is scam, bounty is also scam if the funds isn't escrowed and not paid with top 50 coins.

He isn't a hypocrite, he wasn't lying when he said some airdrop are scams, you're only misunderstanding him as he didn't say all airdrop are scams. When he said some airdrop are scams, that's the hard truth especially airdrops that we received invitation in the way the OP is describing. We shouldn't trust anything that we didn't initiate interest in, because there are alot of scammers looking for the slightly mistakes we'll make to steal our coins. Some airdrop are paying but not every airdrops. Some Bounties are also playing but not all. We have scams in everything and we have them in airdrop and bounties. The airdrop that are paying don't need to invite you to participate in their airdrop through email, the hype of the airdrop will advertise itself.

Before these kind of airdrops are quite legit like around 2017 to 2019. There are really just wallet add and email like form style airdrops where devs giving tokens and had valuable prices. But now its change aside from doing a lot of task in the end the reward is not worth it cause some shift to nft prizes or tokens that arent being distributed. It seems the worth it drops are into spending like retroairdrop and interactions to protocols.

I don't know where they got the airdrop info, but I saw on social media and several Telegram groups continuing to share airdrops. indeed, not all are successful, and more will not produce anything. There are even some airdrops that require capital.
especially if there is a successful airdrop with participants getting quite a lot of money. after that, there will be several new similar airdrops. it's clear their goal is just to seize the moment.

Airdrop has always been  a strategy scammers use in getting people because of the free offer of getting money at the end. Airdrops these days are mostly scams,  people just need to be very careful with the airdrop they are engaged with. Mails received related to wallet is a scam, non custodial wallet doesn't have anything to do with sending a mail into a email. Newbies needs to be vigilant always and to try their best not to fall into the tricky ways of scamners. In every non custodial wallet their is security guide for every user, but most people sees it as stress to spend time to go through it. Getting information about security helps to overcome the tricks of scamners.

You did well by bringing this up again; this is a well-known strategy used by fraudsters to always entice their victims. By bringing this up again, newbies will be made aware of how readily scammers convince individuals to fall into their trap. It is a fraud and not legitimate if you are required to connect your wallet before you can get your reward.

I've seen projects that have defrauded a lot of individuals simply by connecting their wallets, they infiltrate their wallets and steal all of their other savings. Not your keys, not your coins, as the phrase goes, especially when utilising a closed source wallet.

Whenever I hear about airdrops, the first thing that comes to mind is scams. Scammers are always using airdrops to get people’s attention. Everyone is always desperate when they know they can get free money. Some of them don’t even care about this risk that might be involved in the action they are about to take. Since they know they are going to be making free money, they will just jump into it, which at the end they will end up regretting and it will be late already.

Most of the airdrops are scams, it will be difficult to get free money in cryptocurrency currently. If you are looking for free money, you are likely to lose the money that you have in your wallet. I don’t even think the airdrops that will really pay will be promoted on social media. The ones that are promoted on social media are just looking for people, which they will scam.

Not just newbies but the entire forum and one thing I've always held in mind about airdrops is that they're scam and I've always learned to only feed from what  I worked for and thats why I don't fancy or even trip for airdrops because I know that out of 100 aridrops, 99 percent of it are already scams and very serious time wasting projects and I wouldn't want to waste my time and energy on.

I was a fan of airdrops at sime points and I did all of those airdrops simply because I wanted to follow a thread of bitcoin holders and I never profited a cent but rather kept wasting my money buying BNB.
Airdrops aren't  worth it and I wouldn't advice anyone getting  into it.

Most of these airdrops are scams so newbies should avoid these airdrops. Scammers especially promote fake airdrops on social media. Gmail is a street where a lot of fake scam airdrop mail can be found.
Before now I think some these airdrop were actually paying and was fun to participate in but as time grew alot of fake and scam projects have been developed overtime and many of these projects are now meant for the purpose of scamming people off their little money as so many people are with the previous idea that's some airdrop actually paid some folks not knowing that's the number constant in life @change has had it effect on the whole airdrop system.

This is not new anymore as airdrops lately have been more on scams. Gone are the days where airdrops are giving us reliable and consistent profits. So don't be deceived by the promising offers made by these airdrops providers. They are not for us to profits, but for them to satisfy their pockets.

Exactly. Those golden days are over for airdrops so we can't expect to stay profitable at the moment like we're used to before. Maybe if you can find reputable airdrops today then you will be in profits but looking at the current trend, it's rare to find legit airdrops these days. What we have are these scam airdrops that are here to lure every participant that are hunger with instant profits.

Yeah, many scammers did a scam by using the name of Airdrop through social media but email is their common trait. No doubt there are some authentic and reliable sources of airdrops but you can't ignore the scam ones. Scammer mostly targets the new ones who are not so knowledgeable about the scams and when they know they got scammed. So I recommend to newbies to follow your instructions that will be beneficial for them.

Gone are the days when airdrop projects were something with a good experience, right now scammers has hijacked the means away that we can't differentiate from the genuine airdrop providers and scammers  scamming people of their funds in their wallets. That's why anyone chasing airdrops still shouldn't I repeat shouldn't connect his personal wallet to any airdrops requesting for such linking as condition to benefit from it. If you must chase airdrops create a completely different empty wallet's for it and also  a new email not connected to your  accounts in that way you're safe if you kind of fall to an airdrop scam. Don't joke with this tips.

I would try to explain this. You receive a mail to participate in an airdrop with the hope of being rewarded with some token for the work done. However, the scammer gets hold of your address and sends a fake token and in the process of transferring the token to another wallet you compromise your wallet and lost your funds. More also, you might be asked to connect your wallet to a particular fake site in order to claim your reward and you end up losing your funds.

Newbies should not be carried away by freebies and airdrops, some of them are fake and are created to launch an attack. They should disregard unsolicited PMs and mails, be mindful of the links they click and know the sites they grant access to their wallets.

Newbies do not know the kind of coin they will promote, some times them promoting a scam project some of the newbie doesn't know as I said, tye people I blame most for all this airdrops is the people that know that it's irrelevant project and finally they still project same project, to notice fake coin is something I know that we have to research and make sure that we have known the budget and plans of the project

You are correct about everything you said, especially the air drop and the wallet address; these days, scams also target senior forum members because some of them are also ungrateful, and when someone is not satisfied with what they have, they will encounter a lot of unexpected challenges. Although airdrops are among the best ways for many people to make money today, they are not as popular as they once were because the majority of fraudsters now employ them.

Scammers can do anything to ensure they get your details, but I advise anyone who is interested in cryptocurrency to never pray to get involved in their hands because the scammers will scam all of your future savings. Newbies shouldn't be greedy by allowing them to be scammed on social media because most of these scammers always what will make you feel greedy and get into your wallet.

A lot of these kinds of emails are circulating around the internet and each of them has a different approach to their victims they already made some automotive replies in order to further confuse and eventually fool their victims. in order to prevent yourself from falling into such scams, it is good to just directly delete the message whenever you receive it, or if there are lots of them you receive every day, you should consider changing your email because I believe your current email is already been sold out in the black market and it will continue to be scrap and sold all around to scammers just to sent you those malicious emails.

Yeah, you are right, mahn. I fell pray with those guys before, and they hacked my wallet. There's also this experience I had with airdrops too when I started my crypto journey. After the airdrop was concluded, a fake coin was deposited to my provided address, and I was  asked to swap the coin for some USDT or another fiat that is trading on some unknown DEX. As soon as you connect your wallet, your wallet can now be accessed by those hackers. There are more fake airdrops now than ever before, but I think some projects still do airdrops because it's also helpful to promote their projects.

The most common mistake beginners make is that they tend to promote something blindly without being able to do thorough research. Of course it's not worth the time and what they get, but at least they need to do thorough research to prevent free work.

My worst experience as a beginner was, the altcoin project I was promoting didn't really pay value for my time. I only have myself to blame for my inability to do research, but I learned a lot from the experience. That's what beginners have to do so that they can successfully value their time on the forum.

Even if we remind them for so many times, it's hard to know if many of them will follow that. They're also curious with those links and that's why we have no idea how many are going to easily click those unsolicited links that they don't know the contents of it.
They could seriously malware or fill up forms that are going to ask for their log in details and as well as the private keys of their wallets. The targets are they and that's why whoever send those type of links are going easy on them because they know that many might fall for that.

I agree that the airdrops offered through gmail probably scams. Unless you follow the sites or the platform that offer the airdrops, it is better to ignore the airdrops offers on gmail. It is not a new issue, we already got hundreds of airdrops offers on gmail since few years ago. But newbies may be not aware about this. So, it is true that we must let them know.

Most of these airdrops are scams so newbies should avoid these airdrops. Scammers especially promote fake airdrops on social media.
I don't how the percentage of real airdrops and scam airdrops. But I know that most airdrops are worthless, they pay us for cents (too small money). FYI, I never joined again airdrops due to so many times the failure in working airdrops. I concluded it jus wasting time.

Scams are almost everywhere, it is really hard to trust someone online, especially strangers. These scammers will never stop finding ways just to see someone fall into their trap. A reason why we should not just be aware of their evil doings but also, know how to avoid them and determine if that is a scam or not. Most of their trick is to offer free money, big bonuses, and rewards while encouraging you to invest more. They are actually nice to you at first but later on, intentions are revealed when you already fall into their traps.
