Bitcoin's mining algorithm was never designed to advance science. This is because Satoshi lacked the foresight to realize that if Bitcoin got big (which it did), then maybe the mining should be put to good use. Or maybe Satoshi simply lacked the time and resources needed to come up with a scientific mining algorithm (because it is hard, so I don't really blame him). Right now, Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies are shitcoins because they have mining algorithms that were never designed to advance science and this is because the cryptocurrency sector is really shitty. They worship Sam Bankman Fried and love being scammed and scamming others because they were not breastfed as babies, but they were shitfed by their dads from the ass. Bitcoin is a shitcoin because everybody in the Bitcoin community acts like shit. The only reason I am making this post right now is to respond to the relentless hate I get for actually standing up for science. You are all a bunch of shitheads.

Bitcoin's mining algorithm, Proof of Work was indeed designed primarily for securing the network and achieving consensus, not for advancing scientific research.  Due to this process, it provides a decentralized and trustless form of digital currency, so there's no correlation with science.

There is not reference to "advance science" in any place on the paper.

Bitcoin is not altcoin and isn't a shitcoin.

Altcoins are mostly not Proof of Work coins and they are mostly not mineable coins but they are either Proof of Stake or mintable tokens. Mining and minting, staking are very different and Bitcoin is a biggest Proof of Work cryptocurrency if you only compare it to Proof of Work altcoins.

It's meaningless to compare Proof of Work Bitcoin with Proof of Stake or Mintable tokens/ altcoins.

You’ve earned some merits from your past post that were of value to the forum, that shows your mental health was great before now. Sorry, although I don’t know what happened after then, but I wish you quick recovery.

An algorithm that "wastes" energy and provides no value is necessary and unavoidable.

Suppose the results from mining had value and miners could access that value. There would be an increase in revenue that would make mining more affordable and attract more mining capacity. The result would be an increase in the difficulty equivalent to the additional value accessed by miners.

In the end, the waste would not change and any value extracted from mining would have a cost equal to its value, and so there would be no net benefit.

Here's a simple example.

Suppose the block reward is 10 bitcoins and the cost of mining a block approaches 10 bitcoins, the value of the block reward (that's how the economics of mining works). In this case, energy worth 10 bitcoins is wasted.

Now, suppose that the results from mining a block produces some kind of scientific value that the miner could sell for 1 bitcoin. Due to economic incentives, miners would then increase their capacity until the cost of mining approaches 11 bitcoins because the extra 1 bitcoin of revenue allows them to break even at that cost. Now, energy worth 10 bitcoins is still wasted and the scientific value costs miners 1 bitcoin.

My belief is that the only way a mining algorithm that produces something of value could reduce waste would be to produce a public good. However, it is not clear that public goods actually exist.

Bitcoin is good or bad, it has been evaluated by the world community, and what is happening shows that people are bullish about bitcoin. If OP thinks bitcoin is trash or useless then he should create something better than bitcoin before wanting to criticize or belittle it. If we want to criticize someone, belittle something, we best need evidence or we have to be better than them. If we don't have those things, we are useless people and useless people have no right to criticize anyone.

I don't know if OP has created anything that benefits the world, but I know bitcoin is bringing a lot of benefits to many people in the world.

I find this post really funny. Saying that Bitcoin is the ultimate shitcoin is quite a big accusation and one has to be careful with something like that because it could just be another FUD at a time when we don't need such a thing. Now, for anyone that dislike Bitcoin am suggesting you go somewhere else away from the cryptocurrency industry. This is not a perfect industry but Bitcoin has already proven itself for so many years and will be a strong influence into the future.

Well, I think Bitcoin mining mechanism that have not change for years will definitely be due to one or more reason which I think the developers have not find the perfect mining algorithm that will secure the bitcoins transparency and security standard. And op, I think speaking rashly about bitcoins in this forum will not help matters instead it will spike reaction. Many person have thought about same issue and you and I know it very well that bitcoins developers are still working tirelessly to see how they can improve mining algorithm.

If bitcoins has maintain a good name and a high level of security standard with no incident of any bridging since it's creation, we must appreciate this great effort and look forward a better system.

I don't mind the Bitcoin mining algorithm to be used for science purposes. If you have a serious proposal just try to spread your message across the miners and developers and try to convince them. Such proposal might get accepted, if we have consensus. Insulting the entire community doesn't help.
If you want crypto mining to be used for science, then why don't you create your own "science coin", where the mining algorithm will be used for scientific purposes?

Okay, I understand your frustration. Satoshi didnt want to progress science. Decentralised value transfer was the goal. Could science have been involved? Perhaps. However, labelling all cryptocurrencies 'shitcoins' may be unfair.

Consider that not all algorithms or procedures benefit society by advancing science. Consider your phone. It doesnt advance research, but it sure simplifies your life, right?

That said, I do see your frustration with the community. However, some of the people you've met may have had bad days or have different viewpoints. Does that make the community or technology "shit"? I doubt it.

Bitcoin is a great innovation in the financial system. Bitcoin was created as an electronic payment network that allows anyone to use it in transparent transactions.
If according to a professor bitcoin is not a great scientific discovery, then the answer from a student who is still studying in a room taught by the best graduate teachers in their respective fields, is the discovery of paper money that you and I use every day as a means of payment is an invention? great and historic?

According to you, Bitcoin is a shitcoin or another type that is bad in your eyes, it's better not to use it and let me and the people who recognize it as a great discovery who don't have Ph.D. use it all the time.

There are people in our society who can't accept reality. I am not shocked to see this kind of title from the OP. If Bitcoin is a shitcoin due to having a mining algorithm then it is going to be the biggest bubble the modern era is going to see. I can see OP has a lack of knowledge about bitcoin technology and I suggest he explore this forum to gain more knowledge about bitcoin so that we can discuss your observations about bitcoin again.

criticizing someone should be done with concrete actions, for example launching your own token which has good features compared to what satoshi offers. if it's just empty comments like this, what's the difference between him and the crazy people raving on the street?

It becomes more exciting when someone challenges the Bitcoin either challenged by any other platform that comes with their own utility token or coin or challenged by people like you. I do not know what to say, because I am a student and you are a Ph.D. holder which means you have more knowledge and experience.

But according to my knowledge, BTC is not made for advanced sciences, instead, it was made for a decentralized p2p payment system. I personally have not read the whole Whitepaper yet, and some things are blurry for now.

But as far as I know, BTC is not only made for the sciences or advanced sciences. If you think the BTC blockchain has no use case in the advanced sciences then I won't mind it, and I will not talk badly about it, because it is not a rocket made to land on the Moon, it is a car. How can you expect from a car to land on the moon?

Maybe when some new updates or modifications in the network come and you implement wings and rocket to the car then you might take the work of landing from it. But till then leave the BTC out of it. And if you have a better solution or anything to propose then you should come with that first.
