Title: Why Governments Ban Cryptocurrency {Bitcoin}
Post by: Miles2006 on October 07, 2023, 02:22:34 PM
Former European central bank President (https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-is-not-real-says-former-european-central-bank-chief) once said bitcoin is not real, he also said he is against bitcoin, so many people saying there own opinion towards bitcoin. But have you ever thought why?, from my own point of view
  • Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are banned in most countries, China, Russia and many more. Because the government is afraid of bitcoin
  • knowing that bitcoin is a decentralize currency, the government cannot control and monitor your funds.
  • As bitcoin continues to grow most people continue to adopt bitcoin as there currency, the increase population of bitcoin has become global, business owners, traders, now use bitcoin so the government is scared of loosing there value of money. The more people use bitcoin in saving there money the more the government loose control of there currency.
  • they see bitcoin and other cryptocurrency as not trustworthy, as the value changes.

Conclusion:
Countries ban bitcoin for different reasons, some, the government (president) didn't even know anything about crypto but the financial advisers gave the wrong information or they advise the government wrongly on cryptocurrency.
If the financial advisers gave the right information on cryptocurrency many countries would have adopted bitcoin in their countries. Some of them were trying to prevent their citizens from internet fraudstars and scammers probably because of the previous experienced in the country.

Why is cryptocurrency illegal in some countries? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5468428.0)
Government vs Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5465653.0)
Bitcoin can be banned or stopped by governments (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5432870.0)
If you were the government, how would you fight against bitcoin? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5423863.0)

Above are few threads that discussed much about the governments, their plans, and why they want bitcoin to be banned. Rather than discussing again on the similar topic it is good to discuss in the opposite way, what benefits bitcoin can bring to a country when adopted as legal tender as we don't have countries other than El Salvador.

Just as you have mentioned or said rather, the countries that banned bitcoin did so for several reasons, but for me, what I have always believed is that, the government will always hate what they cant conquer, and try to destroy that which they do not understand that seem like a threat to them and their centralized financial system.

But its still very unfortunate that they ban bitcoin simply out of lack of understanding, bitcoin to me is the most friendly currency in the entire world, it does not discriminate, and neither does it have a selection of where it will work and where it wont, Bitcoin is ready to cooperate and work hand in hand with fiat to provide for the people, the kind of financial system they need, if only the government will come down from their high hills and understand that the solution to the fiat problem they have been tryin to solve for years now is Bitcoin.

All they have to do is, allow those who want to transact in bitcoin to do so peaceful, as they also allow those who choose fiat to also do so peaceful, they can not force every one of us to go the fiat way with them when we have a better alternative like Bitcoin around.

Even though China is ban Bitcoin, but Sanghai e.g. one of city in China is recognize Bitcoin now [1], so the citizen can come to visit this country if they want to buy Bitcoin.

Russia isn't ban Bitcoin, they only forbid banks are associated with Bitcoin [2], so it's not a problem if you trade via P2P without link to bank.

It's not real because they can't physically hold Bitcoin like they can hold coins or banknotes that are printed in large quantities every year by the state. Opposition to Bitcoin is because he cannot get a share like the share that is obtained from the amount of currency owned by the state.

The ban and opposition to Bitcoin by countries and other organizations is nothing new that has shocked the Bitcoin-loving community, despite the various reasons given by countries or governments that oppose Bitcoin. Bitcoin continues to circulate amidst the strong opposition carried out by them because Bitcoin will not die because of their ban on clowns.

For obvious reason, cryptocurrency is the opposite of how government wants to fiat, it's a matter of how they can control it which is they can't over crypto. For those countries who accepts bitcoin (crypto-friendly) are those government who understand y really well and used it for their advantage.

If there is a country that has banned Bitcoin, it's simply because they haven't researched the good that Bitcoin can do in their country. Because they always think that they have nothing to gain from it, but the truth is that they can gain a lot from Bitcoin.

That's why the other countries that previously banned Bitcoin also withdrew it, right, like El Salvador, Russia and others. Why? because they realized in the end that it would be a great contribution to their country and even to their constituents and also establishment businesses to be honest.

This is wrong, basically in most countries decisions and regulatory laws are made by the government and not the president, but regardless even countries with a president will get the same result because the government and the president love centralization and control and hate decentralization.

Bitcoin has unique characteristics that make all governments ban it, such as decentralization and privacy. This makes citizens’ financial transactions far from the eyes and hands of the government, so it is rare to find a government that accepts Bitcoin.

The only exception is perhaps El Salvador because of the major economic problems that the country suffers from and the lack of a national currency in the first place, which prompted the open-minded president to adopt Bitcoin.

From your topic, a little correction to be made is that governments go against other cryptocurrencies and are getting to recognize bitcoin as the only digital currency that is valid and acceptable, dome governments are already making this known to the public, which also means that they have realized that bitcoin is not the problem but a number of altcoins in which a large number of them were shitcoins, part of the reasons we are having scam in cryptocurrency, bitcoin is not the problem and they are getting this straight already unlike before when it was all been made hard on bitcoiners.

Why would you allow a technology that gives governments less control and more freedom to people? The governments that are banning Crypto currencies like Bitcoin are control freaks and they monitor and control their citizens.

Bitcoin gives people financial freedom.... Example : Citizens can donate to Wikileaks and sites like this are used to hold governments and large corporations accountable to it's citizens. (Governments hate that, because they cannot block those payments)  ;)

Simple.

They want to defend their fiat currencies and in future their CBDCs.
They try to reduce access of their citizens to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as much as possible because they see those currencies as threats for their fiat and CBDCs.

Actually bitcoin is not very private, because everyone can see transactions on the blockchain as well as wallet addresses.

Responding to OP

There are several main reasons why Bitcoin is not legalized in that country, namely because if Bitcoin is legalized as a means of payment or transaction, the value of that country's currency could be disrupted. If Bitcoin is legalized as a means of payment, many export and import sectors will use Bitcoin and the country's currency will decrease in value because its performance decreases. A currency gets stronger if it continues to be used/circulated to revive the economy. If this does not happen then the currency will not move and demand for the currency will also decrease resulting in excess supply while there is no demand.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are banned in most countries, China, Russia and many more. Because the government is afraid of bitcoin
You are right but to some extent only, because those who have accepted btc or not banned it yet, they also can not control the BTC because BTC is also decentralized for them. All they are doing is getting benefit from the new technology and earning money. For example. BTC is banned in our country why?.
Quote
Pakistan's Minister of State for Finance and Revenue has reportedly said crypto cannot be legalized in the nation due to conditions set by the global money laundering watchdog for staying off of its list of countries under increased monitoring.
source (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/05/24/fatf-did-not-require-pakistan-to-ban-crypto-to-stay-off-its-grey-list/%3foutputType=amp)
While this issue is also faced by those countries who have accepted or not banned BTC yet. Instead of banning BTC they try to find ways that could avoid or stop the bad use of decentralization factor of btc-->Money laundering

To be honest, this is the shitiest accuse I have heard. Well what we can do. Nothing.

Governments can find out who is using btc and can tax them and earn money from the crypto (btc) users. So we should not say that every btc users can not be observed by governments. The thing is those who have banned btc, they don't want to spend time in another sector of investigating such cases involved in btc so at the simplest scenario they banned it. [/list]

No government will give up without a fight against the decentralization. They will always want control, that's what government do otherwise its chaos. But still BTC survives because people know that it a hedge against the inflation and authorities has no dominion over BTC.

Government claiming they are just protecting their citizen from scams is fair. No denying there are lots of crypto scam as well. But BTC will be preferred by the people for its for the people and not owned by authorities.

So far, they are all losing, and if things keep going like this, governments around the world will have to become friendly with Bitcoin sooner or later, with the way things are looking right now, I think for the first time in history, Bitcoin will defeat them all, and bring them closer too.

They have no choice for real, if you can't beat you join them, this is what will happen in the end, if not why is ETF now a thing? Exactly, Bitcoin is the solution to the problem of many countries, they lack wisdom that's why they are still banning it, the few smart ones are going after Bitcoin as their rescuer now, so I am not surprised.

So there you have it, the ban is happening because the government lacks the wisdom and only focuses on power, they are looking at the disadvantage and that's decentralization, they fail to look at the advantage side of Bitcoin, but it's only a matter of time.

Governments or Countries does not hate Bitcoin, in fact they are very open with it, but it gets problematic to fully adopt this cryptocurrency because it gives so much financial freedom to its user that defeats the purpose of the government. Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general does not have a governing body, its government is its people so it get less interest from the government and they don't want it to just throw them away and be taken over.

All they have to do is, allow those who want to transact in bitcoin to do so peaceful, as they also allow those who choose fiat to also do so peaceful, they can not force every one of us to go the fiat way with them when we have a better alternative like Bitcoin around.
The principle is basic, cryptocurrencies are nothing without fiat, that's the very problem with it, government making the fiat currency and being injected to cryptocurrencies is more of bypassing the banking institutions they have build in a century.

The governments want more control over people. Bitcoin takes this ability and gives it back to people. When people use bitcoin, they are semi anonymous as long as they don’t use any centralized exchanges. Privacy is the enemy of the governments. It is a basic human right but the govs don’t see it that way. They want to know everything about you. What you watch, what you buy, what you eat… Bitcoin is driving them crazy. For this reason, the govs don’t like bitcoin one bit. Right now some govs don’t ban it because they think they can control it but we know that it is impossible. Sooner or later though bitcoin will have fight these assholes. Hopefully later.

1. Bitcoin isn't banned in "most" countries like you think. China and Russia isn't the "whole" world.

2. They are already doing it through different laws and by forcing crypto financial services to do KYC on their customers.

3. Not true. Most people are still using fiat currency. Even those "business" that accept bitcoin, later ends up converting their coin to fiat currency. They need to pay the bills too after all.

4. Not trustworthy because the value changes? Are the price of precious metals stable? Nope. And the government trusts them too.

Few governments that placed a ban on using crypto currencies is because they don't know how crypto currencies work. They don't have proper framework. People might be able to abuse this and launder money at will and ease.

Can you tell me why someone hate something? The answer is that thing is harmful for them and can cause them trouble. That's a single human hatred the governments are not controlled by a single person but a group of people with same mindset. The governments main motive is to have complete control over the citizens and something like Bitcoin won't allow them to control the citizens in way they wanted to. That's why the governments are trying to add competitor to Bitcoin in the form of CBDCs.

The CBDCs are digital like Bitcoin but they are 100% centralized and governments can control those. No-one can control Bitcoin because it's decentralized and is supported by a huge community of miners and nodes. The public controls Bitcoin the governments doesn't, not even the creator of Bitcoin has control over it. If the governments can't control Bitcoin then in similar way they can't control the ones who use Bitcoin, but surely they can't hide their negative intentions and that's why they are banning Bitcoin.

I'm not against governments but that a reality which we will have to accept. The Bitcoin is really a huge threat to governments and they try to do everything to suppress its growth. The launching of CBDCs is the first step that they took against Bitcoin and surely in future they will make more plans to stop the growth of Bitcoin. But, I highly believe that they will not be successful because Bitcoin is supported by the humans of the whole world not from a single particular region.

Government are not afraid of Bitcoin, the main reason other countries are banning cryptocurrency because they don't have control over the cyrptocurrency system and the government does not want to let decentralized project to take over their financial system.  Aside from that, many scam companies make use of crypto to scam their investors and the government saw it and wanted to prevent it from happening by banning cryptocurrency

Bitcoin blockchain is transparent, if you happen to accidentally link your identity to a certain address, then your cryptocurrency holdings  can easily monitored and the government are making way to control peoples fund and that is through the report of the exchanges to the government.

You are right, the financial advisors of the countries that have banned it are not that aware of the cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. They just are following the books and rules they have studies and not getting out of there comfort zones to yes out new things. In simple words they are playing it safe and don't want to get involve in some extra activities because they are just passing there time in there government jobs.

It's the open freelancers who I think have to work for such things, against such bans. In our country Waqar Zaka is the main player against the ban on crypto but he was threatened by those who are against the crypto. But still he is standing for all of the crypto community.

In short, governments of developing countries do not want to test new technologies because they know at the end they have to spend money and have to hire professionals for the implementation of the system. That's why they are banning crypto. In my opinion they should at least get some education first about crypto then make such decisions.

Well, Personally, I don't admire him as most of my community members do, as what I had experienced with him showed me a completely different personality, selfish, man of words not of action, and blah blah. For those people whom are you indicating I can assure are very well aware of this technology and for a long period of time they have been using the crypto market for their money laundering purposes.

In short, governments of developing countries do not want to test new technologies because they know in the end they have to spend money and have to hire professionals for the implementation of the system. They are ignoring this market to be undeveloped because they do not want to get trapped in their own net, as they are beneficiaries of this medium when they set up proper legalization there will be questions about their previous records, as it's not NAB, or FBR where they can change the whole investigation reports, its blockchain with proper analysis they can be tracked out how much they've laundered in last few years, Shity people. Simply they want it undeveloped and use this medium as long as they can because there i no rule of law. After a few years public will forget and they will get a clean chit from those idiots who think they are the smartest minds alive in the world.

If it's about the financial advisers then that means that they've got some own agenda that they want to happen so they advise poorly and wrongly to the leaders, presidents, and prime ministers. But IMHO, let the finance department decide all of that and then with the help of their own SECs. The problem with some SECs, they don't really like it so the function they have is being followed and they think that they're doing the right thing of not allowing it. And for some governments, it is that there's really no way that they will like it because they don't understand it.

The main reason governments hate bitcoin is because it sets them back in terms of financial traceability. You can't regulate a Bitcoin transaction, just as you can't regulate a transaction with cash (which was long hated). If a person wants to make an anonymous transaction in the Internet, they'd absolutely want to avoid everything the government controls of, so there you go; bitcoin is the effective solution to that problem.

Aside from that, many scam companies make use of crypto to scam their investors and the government saw it and wanted to prevent it from happening by banning cryptocurrency
Many scammers also make use of cryptography, computers, the Internet etc., but you don't ban those. So, cryptocurrency is clearly not the fault here. It's the scammers.

The Bitcoin had successfully completed the decade of survive in the investment. After the celebratory get into the cryptocurrency, the vast population get into the investment of cryptocurrency. So the country with less economy fear of the their economy will be covered by the cryptocurrency. If the trader uses the cryptocurrency and not involve in the stock trading,it will reduce the people paying taxes for the stock investment.Because most of the stock investors had their money in the cryptocurrency and they won't pay taxes to the government for the cryptocurrency investment.

Anyway, although in the country I live in Bitcoin isn't much given attention to by government, meaning there are no laws that cater to it, it is common knowledge and belief that the reason as to why governments ban crypto or bitcoin is due to how they are not able to control it. It is as simple as that. Something outside of their control is seen as a bad thing for them.

Governments, Is not always that way acted thinking of " protect" its citizens.

China is already accepting BTC as it is, though not in a large scale or as a legal tender, but for payments and transaction and even mining purposes.
Government bans BTC or cryptocurrency because of many exchanges and coins that has failed or crashed and along with it goes all the investors funds. The government wants citizens to be careful and it is to also reduce the instance of money laundering which can be undetected in the decentralized network easily.

Another is to control the citizens by keeping them reliant on the government jobs or office jobs for survival instead of an individual having the financial freedom to overlook the importance of government.
El Salvador and some countries use BTC and it is a legal tender. Other countries not doing so are observing the doings of the countries doing so and in time will cue in when it has gained a reasonable amount of adoption worldwide.

The government will never allow Bitcoin to rule above their currency. Otherwise, they will lose control of the financial ecosystem. That's the main reason why the government doesn't want to adapt Bitcoin. It's true that even a lot of countries don't know Bitcoin very well. But those who are well aware of Bitcoin are worried about the decentralised power of Bitcoin. But I think Bitcoin should be usable for everyone. Because even the government wants to ban it officially, but they can't prevent people from using it.

its decentralised nature is i believe the major reason why a lot of governments are not on this market. as they have no control of what's going on, what they can do is just regulate of its existence in the market.
and since the govt has no upper hand on this market, they can't totally ban the usage of this currency even if they want to.

The governments usually operate in 1 and 0. They have to take a stance for or against something and to them bitcoin doesn't carry enough weight to be worth their time.

-To an average politician bitcoin is difficult, takes time to master
-Bitcoin doesn't have enough supporters to fight for their votes at least in many poor countries. In the US or the EU the situation is different, but in some Arab countries the number of people interested in crypto is negligible.
-Bitcoin can be easily labeled as a money laundering tool and currency used by hackers, scammers and drug dealers, so it's easy to find arguments to support your stance against it. To support it you have to know something about it and that gets us back to the first point.

Bitcoin is an important digital currency, it aides in traders and investors gaining and printing cool profits since its existence, though cryptocurrency is for the smart individuals.

The use of cryptocurrency is for everyone, but smart individuals profit from it.

Government are in power and won't be reluctant and allow cryptocurrency exceeds the current value of the country's legal tender. Not all countries would welcome the idea of making bitcoin a legal tender because of fear of running the economy into liquidation, because citizens will focused on cryptocurrency and abandoning the currency which will simply record heavy decrease in value.

Not only the citizens transitioning to Bitcoin but if the government makes Bitcoin their main currency, the government will lose control over its economic activities since Bitcoin whales can manipulate their economy due to having a huge amount of Bitcoin in their stash.  Whales can easily crash the market thus creating a negative impact on a country's economic affairs.

Bitcoin offers many benefits when adopted by a country. Bitcoin do not have to topple the Fiat in a country when used together with a country's currency it strengthens it. If bitcoin is adopted in more countries other than El Salvador those countries would experience an increase in the wealth of its citizens. Another benefit is that such a country would become even more technological advanced in terms of payment systems and even cyber security. And if it is a country where there is a high rate of crime we might see that with the adoption of Bitcoin where most citizens of the country have bitcoins they might be a drop in crime rate because of course the way it will be equally distributed across the citizenry.

Governments which ban Bitcoin have a common characteristic among themselves, despite presenting different reasons for the ban: they have overcontrolling tendencies and don't take the individuality of citizens as a postive trait for the rise and development of the country.

These governments want to shape the society on the path they think it's ideal in theory. Anyone who goes against it must be punished and cancelled. So decentralized tools which empower citizens in an autonomous way are completely censored, especially Bitcoin which brings a decentralized concept into finances.

Overcentralized governments want to know everything people are doing in real time, and Bitcoin makes this harder for them, although not completely impossibilitates.

I think there are more reasons why they are just banning bitcoins and want to disconnect themselves in any way shape or form regarding cryptocurrency. due to the fact that some people are still ignorant of it, their people might become prone to many Ponzi scheme scammers that are on the loose who used bitcoins as their props to fool people. it's important that they have some basic knowledge first and some preventive measures on how to protect themselves from such scammers and hackers as well, in order to save themselves from false investment platforms and other scenarios that lead them to lose all their savings. that's why some governments take countermeasures in order to protect their citizen but as soon as their people are aware of all of this they lift the ban and stay neutral about it.

You make a valid point, and indeed, the perception of Bitcoin by governments often tends to be binary. Heres my take on it. For governments, especially in regions with low Bitcoin awareness, they often resort to the familiar. Its always easier to reject what one doesnt understand. And as you rightly said, for many politicians, understanding Bitcoin is time-consuming, and the lack of widespread support doesnt help either.

However, isnt the very nature of innovation to challenge established norms and systems? And with that challenge, often comes resistance. Its easy for them to label Bitcoin as a tool for illicit activities, but isnt every technological advancement vulnerable to misuse? Computers, the internet - all had their fair share of skepticism. Yet, here we are.

The real issue here, might be the fear of change. Governments fear the unknown, and Bitcoin, for many of them, is still an enigma. Educating them, then, becomes the community's shared responsibility

Yep, most governments are just afraid of their people or the protection of the consumers. As we all know, a lot of tragedies are already happening in the cryptocurrency market where millions/billions have already been lost due to scam/hacking incidents or illicit activities.

Actually bitcoin is not very private, because everyone can see transactions on the blockchain as well as wallet addresses.
Does your wallet address or the wallet itself shows your name or anything that can show your identity to someone? No, it doesn't, and that is the reason why Bitcoin is said to be pseudonymous which means that one can see your transactions or the balance but they can't know who is actually behind that wallet and that is enough privacy in my opinion. No one will ever know that a certain wallet is yours unless you have given your address to someone yourself and told them that it's your wallet address.

This is also one of the reasons why governments are mostly against Bitcoin because it promotes privacy and decentralization, and the authorities will barely be able to identify the owner of a certain wallet or a transaction unless they find a way to regulate all the transactions using some sort of KYC or something.

With only a public address, nobody can identify who owns that address if you don't let others know you are the owner.

If you use a throw away account to post that address and if you don't let any possible trace to your identity from that account, you are anonymous owner of that Bitcoin public address.

Like Satoshi Nakamoto's identity is still unknown after many years and we only know about public addresses posted by Satoshi Nakamoto. The public address can not help you to be anonymous if you have other bad practices with your coins and addresses.

I have heard arguments from some government officials that for them to enforce economic policies it is important for them to control the the financial system. The want to know how much is circulating in the economy. But this not true because huge funds are still smuggled into the country everyday and they cannot control its circulation. People should be allowed to make their financial choices.

Aside from that, many scam companies make use of crypto to scam their investors and the government saw it and wanted to prevent it from happening by banning cryptocurrency
Many scammers also make use of cryptography, computers, the Internet etc., but you don't ban those. So, cryptocurrencarly not the fault here. It's the scammers.

The assumption that the government is banning or restricting cryptocurrencies because they could be used for criminal activities is a cover-up of the main intentions of these authorities. After all with the recent development of new technology tools the government has been able to track and recover stolen or scammed cryptocurrencies They are just scared of losing control of the financial transactions of some people. They should focus on the problems and stop pursuing shadows.

I also hope that the reason the country bans bitcoin is purely because of the reasons you say. There is no other meaning.

But imo, This is mainly because the government cannot regulate and track it. The government wants to be able to investigate your bank activities if necessary, freeze assets, obtain taxes, etc. Since it was distributed, Bitcoin exists in many different locations at the same time. This makes it very difficult for one regulatory agency to impose its will across national borders. This also means that the government or other third parties technically cannot raid an office and shut anything down.

Apart from that, what makes them afraid of bitcoin, because bitcoin is a combination of finance, technology and utility along with an intellectual community and a socially open community. This leaves ancient ways of life behind and opens up many possibilities for a future as a global humanity without government interference.

  • Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are banned in most countries, China, Russia and many more.
I think it is impossible to ban bitcoin and cryptocurrency because they are decentralized, which is impossible to ban. Yes, we can call it a ban, not a restriction. The countries that have banned bitcoin do not mean a categorical ban; they mean restrictions. And in my opinion, Bitcoin can only be brought to the limit of restriction because it is a decentralized network, and it is impossible to fully control and ban it. As you said, Russia, China, etc. have banned Bitcoin. So they have not imposed a full ban but have restricted it. 10.1% of the whole population of Russia is still engaged in Bitcoin, but according to you, Russia has banned Bitcoin.

So what I mean is that Bitcoin is a decentralized pity under blockchain technology; no one can ban it, and those who have Bitcoin assets can share them with each other without third-party assets under a peer-to-peer network. Therefore, there is no fatwa of ban on it, but only to say that measures of restriction have been taken to prevent it.

Quote
Because the government is afraid of bitcoin
Obviously, there is no doubt that the government is afraid of Bitcoin because it is afraid of the two major problems facing the government due to Bitcoin. The first is that Bitcoin will end the government's fiat currency, which they do not want, and the second is that Bitcoin is used for money laundering, although the justification for money laundering is based on zero tolerance. This is not strong evidence of money laundering for not recognizing Bitcoin. Moreover, decentralized (Bitcoin) is thousands of times better than this government's actual currency.

So it means that it is the lame excuse of those who are not ready to adopt Bitcoin. But we cannot do anything because we are subordinate to them; the will of those who want to do it is the ruler. We can only advise him on Bitcoin adoption and nothing else. But there will definitely come a time when the government will recognize Bitcoin.

It's true that many governments worldwide have expressed concerns about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The former European Central Bank President's skepticism and various other opinions reflect the complex relationship between governments and decentralized digital currencies.

Governments often ban or heavily regulate cryptocurrencies for several reasons. One key factor is the decentralized nature of Bitcoin. As a decentralized currency, it operates outside traditional financial systems, which makes it challenging for governments to control and monitor funds. This can raise concerns about financial security and tax evasion.

Additionally, as Bitcoin's adoption grows, it poses a potential challenge to governments' ability to maintain control over their national currencies. People worldwide are increasingly turning to Bitcoin as a form of currency and store of value, which can diminish the government's influence over monetary policy.

While it's true that cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin can be volatile, leading to concerns about their trustworthiness, they also offer several advantages. One of these advantages includes lower transaction costs. For instance, Coinremitter, a crypto payment gateway, offers a competitive 0.23% processing fee, making it a cost-effective solution for businesses and individuals.

Crypto payment gateways like https://coinremitter.com/?utm_source=rep&utm_medium=bitcointalks enable businesses to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment, expanding their customer base and financial options. This innovative approach to payments can benefit both businesses and consumers while allowing governments to adapt to the changing financial landscape.

In conclusion, the debate around Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is multifaceted, with concerns about government control, trustworthiness, and volatility playing a role. It's essential to strike a balance between fostering innovation and addressing these concerns, and crypto payment gateways like Coinremitter are part of that evolving landscape, offering competitive fees and facilitating the broader adoption of cryptocurrencies.

It is normal that when there is a change there will be pros and cons, and of course this can actually be addressed well. Every development certainly has positive and negative values, so that there is no development that immediately achieves perfection, the same is the case with bitcoin, where there are several considerations that make it unacceptable, and of course this will be answered with time which requires technological changes, because conventional ones is no longer relevant

In simple words, the government wants to have control over the currency and they will not be willing to give a free hand to the public when they use bitcoins as a medium of exchange. The governments can print fiat money, so they are always in control and they are always rich because they get money out of thin air.

This is not possible when it comes to Bitcoin as no government or financial institute can print Bitcoin. Bitcoin supply is limited and that is one of the reasons why financial institutions oppose bitcoins as they need a flexible currency that they can print without keeping gold or anything in backup/reserve.

Governments can print fiat currencies, can mint their CBDCs and they want their citizens to use those fiat currencies, CBDCs as much as possible. Because with those currencies, they already have centralized systems to follow flows and can help their taxation governance better.

They don't want Bitcoin to become more popular, more easily to be accepted in their nations because they do know it's big threat for their currencies (fiat and CBDC).

Governments don't care about supply of Bitcoin but they are fearful that Bitcoin with its designs and use cases can get more people who change from cash, fiat currency, CBDC to use Bitcoin. It will make their bank systems weaker and result in more challenges for their taxation.

Govts and Bitcoin. This is a typical fight between old and new, centralized and dispersed power. Governments have always set conditions, regulations, and taken their share of the pie. Bitcoin threatens this status quo by creating an unmanageable, untrackable system beyond their reach.

Its deeper than that. Bitcoin's intellectual and socially open community is a major social change. These communities want authority to be distributed democratically. This topic has been discussed quite a lot and we here already know what the answer is because the government is afraid of Bitcoin. Bitcoin has various features that could disrupt the adoption of fiat for the wider community. They are concerned that more people will adopt Bitcoin and that makes Bitcoin the best alternative to banking that provides affordable, equitable and decentralized financial services for society. Therefore, they inhibit the adoption of Bitcoin and as far as possible do not allow their people to use it as a means of payment to replace the role of fiat and banking.

There are many reason of banning bitcoin, the first reason governments are afraid of bitcoin’s importance, if bitcoin is legal the people start buying bitcoins in their country and ultimately the devaluation of their own currency starts. The other reason is smuggling government of different countries thinks people do smuggling through payments in bitcoin.

The government likes control.  When they cannot regulate or control it, they ban it. The decentralized nature of some cryptocurrencies like bitcoin has prevented the government from tracking the activities of the people. If the government allows the usage of Bitcoin,  government revenue will be affected because it will be difficult for the government to ascertain the percentage of tax to be imposed on the citizens. And we know that citizens will prefer to go for an option that will save costs. The value of fiat too will reduce.  This they know, hence the decision to ban bitcoin.

The government also want to be in control in terms of welfare and safety of its citizens.  We have heard of cases where people are kidnapped and a ransom is demanded before the victims can be released or cases of fraudulent practices. Most of this culprits were tracked down from the bank transactions they did. It will be difficult for a culprit doing business with crypto to be tracked and punished accordingly.
The list goes on and on. Cryptocurrency is a threat to the government.

You can said bitcoin is been banned in some of the countries you listed but people living in those countries are making use of bitcoin, so if people living in same country where government announced that bitcoin has be ban is still using bitcoin what can you think about that?

That is to say that government of that particular nation deprived people their choice of monetary transactions and other kind of living, so therefore government of those nations just restricted the banks from bitcoin, because bitcoin  cannot be ban by a particular nation because bitcoin is not centralized currency, it's when bitcoin is centralized when a particular government can have access to sealed a centralized environment where bitcoin been transact.

But it a decentralized currency in which it's obvious that you can't ban bitcoin but you can regulate it and also restrict bitcoin in your country through the country world ban..I could remember vividly when bitcoin was not been restricted in my country, exchange of bitcoin do take place directly from the bank because as of that time bitcoin is been trade directly in my country central bank, but right now we are making use of p2p since it has been restricted.

I don't think everyone needs government approval to use bitcoin as a means of payment, but of course it can't be done openly. As long as transactions can be carried out anonymously between two users using bitcoin, then you can always use bitcoin as a means of payment even if your government does not legalize bitcoin as a means of payment.

The government is certainly afraid of the impact of bitcoin adoption on the superiority of its centralized financial system, which is understandable. Many people would abandon the centralized financial system if the government had adopted bitcoin as legal tender, especially for everyone who understands bitcoin and its innovations.

I don't believe governments are dumb, they know exactly what they're doing. The government knows more about stuff than you. Most of us believe they don't understand Bitcoin but I don't agree with that. They know that Bitcoin stands against their core power: control.
It's very easy to control people if you control their financial lives.
The government wants to be in control of everything.

If Bitcoin was a coin made and controlled by the government they'll be accepted as legal tender by now. This is evident in the fact that they created their own CBDC. If they were totally against crypto there would be no need to create their own digital coin.

They say Bitcoin increases internet fraud and scams, these are all the excuses they use to justify their actions. Why didn't they ban the internet, why didn't ban phones and computers?

Not all in general for the governments. But that's one reason why they don't want to legalize it at least for those that don't really like it.
But there are countries and its governments agrees to just let it pass and let their citizens don't have any trouble in using and investing on it.

We do really know that it wont really be that something that could be fully controlled by the government and everything that opposes governments preference would really be that something that their main concern and needs to be deal out. This is why they would really be focusing on touching up crypto space via with those centralized applications on which they would really be able to touch up themselves in speaking to this.

There might be some places on this world which recognized Bitcoins existence but most of them would really be totally going against with it which its not really that shocking.
Good thing that despite of those restrictions and even banning, the community stood strong and do really be able to see that there's really that a huge support

I have a comment associated with the title ; I think that using the word “Ban” is not appropriate, terminologically or linguistically, because no one can do that theoretically or practically. Bitcoin has decentralized characteristics that do not allow any central authority to make a decision about it. It is not an application stored on a server or a company that can be disagreed with or asked to stop its activities in a certain area. Governments are well aware of this, and therefore they can impose sanctions on anyone proven to use Bitcoin for exchanges, but they cannot completely prevent him from using it, and it also makes it difficult for them to monitor him if he uses his own wallet.

Bitcoin's decentralized nature doesn't prevent it from evading bans. A government can force people not to use bitcoin and they can discourage people by implementing criminal charges against its users. Despite these some people will use it but most of them will turn away from it. No one wants to go to jail by any means. The government doesn't need to be 100% successful to force their people not to use bitcoin to be successful. If most of the people stop using it out of fear of imprisonment that will be enough for them.

The government can do whatever they want to do, especially with businesses, whether they approve it or not, as long as they benefit from it. Of course, they will prioritize their personal interests over the benefit of the government.

And any government will not really agree if they have no benefit to gain from it. Especially since they own it. But this kind of behavior by the government is normal, so many countries have banned Bitcoin, and eventually they also revoked it because they realized that it has benefits for their country.

If this is the reason, government should have banned fiat currency because there are more events where people got scammed in this form of currency.  I don't think it is about protecting their people.  I believe it is about the control and the implication it will cause to their economy  and profit.

I believe the government is more knowledgeable than the average Joe when it comes to Bitcoin knowledge but they can't just simply approve it to co-exist with their national currency because of certain grounds.  The high volatility and the unable to control the source of the cryptocurrency.  We all know that the government hates anything they can't control and often tag them illegal.

Also, the point that most of these officials up until now are not really educated to this market, hence, their hesitation to include this in their financial plans.
So I guess, learning this market will give them more insights and be more open mind as this market will continue whether they will participate or not.

There are several reasons why government would want to ban bitcoin or already banned bitcoin and these reasons differ from country to country and maybe I will have to speak for my country and one of the major reasons why the government has decided not to identify with bitcoin is because of the risk of its citizens getting scammed by those online hoodlums who always get people scammed through bitcoin and this singular act of scam has already painted so much wrong image of bitcoin already and the government has already warned all banks and the cbn from getting involved in any cryptocurrency transaction.
And another reason is the fact that bitcoin is decentralized and if accepted, will be very difficult for the government to country or have dominance or its citizens hence they’re doing really hard to fight and I think they already have wrong advisers around them .

I don't see that we differ in opinion much. These legislations that prevent use actually exist, but what is missing is how it will be possible to track these activities if they are not linked to central platforms or in a direct relationship with any commercial activities, for example. People will be afraid of going to prison or paying for their sins, and some will give up on the whole matter and some will look for alternative plans. Without connecting to any central service, whether company or platform, there is nothing to be afraid of.

Control is one thing that the government wants from us. They can't control Bitcoin and no way they can access its utmost core.

This is why some countries are outright banning and outlawing BTC and cryptocurrencies. Like they're declaring them as illegal and any citizen who is involved may get punished for doing so. But this won't stop them from keep doing BTC transactions even on the underground like using VPNs, etc.

But some countries like El Salvador are accepting it as open arms and is already making BTC as legal tender.

There are also countries like the Philippines where they are crypto-friendly but on a grayish area where the Central Bank is just acknowledging and regulating BTC and other cryptocurrencies.

Your concern about governments banning bitcoin to protect citizens from scams is real. The criminal element has tarnished bitcoin's image in the eyes of many governments and their citizenry. Please be honest. Scammers will take any opportunity to profit, but should they obstruct technical advancement? I doubt it.

Bitcoin's decentralization does strip governments of some authority, but isnt that its essence? Bitcoin was created to empower individuals without intermediaries. Some governments may see this as a threat to their power. One needs to wonder if governments are actually serving their citizens' best interests or merely resistive to change and afraid of losing control.

Some governments have given reasons to protect their citizens from scams and they decided to ban bitcoin, but is that the real reason or just an excuse? Because have they really stopped all the scams involving fiat currencies? Even without bitcoin, scams still happen every day and why haven't they solved it yet?

They banned it because it was uncontrollable and they feared their power would be shaken if bitcoin became popular and widely used, there is no second reason for them to ban it. It's all just an excuse because bitcoin is too perfect to find weaknesses. Bitcoin creates decentralization and promotes privacy, and that goes against the government's policy toward its citizens.

There's only one reason to consider banning Bitcoin, and that's if a government doesn't like it. Because if they do appreciate Bitcoin, they'll find a way to regulate it. It's really a choice between the two – either ban it or regulate it.

While some countries have chosen to ban Bitcoin, it's essential not to worry too much. Many countries have opted to regulate it, and that's a reason to be optimistic about Bitcoin's future. Governments that currently ban Bitcoin may change their stance in the future, especially when they see the widespread adoption and the potential for tax revenue. After all, Bitcoin knows no boundaries. When properly regulated, it can lead to economic improvement in a country.

We're in the digital age, and even in economically challenged countries, people can find online job opportunities and get paid in Bitcoin. This can be a solution to address unemployment and underemployment issues. Countries willing to outsource jobs can save on costs, and at the same time, they can benefit the poorer countries where the cost of living is lower.

Governments should consider these opportunities, rather than simply banning Bitcoin because they don't like it. Banning it would mean depriving people of a chance to improve their financial well-being and contribute to overall economic growth.

Countries ban bitcoin for different reasons, some, the government (president) didn't even know anything about crypto but the financial advisers gave the wrong information or they advise the government wrongly on cryptocurrency.

You already answered yourself. First, some country's government doesn't even know how it works and why it's good for people. Even if they know, they want their people to use bitcoin because they will miss a huge commission. If their people use alternative methods like banks and other financial services, the government will get a commission from each and very transaction while bitcoin does not provide any commissions to the government. The government won't be able to control people's money. They won't be able to use your money whenever they want. Bank does business with their customer's money. It's like frying a fish with it's oil.

I agree with you on what you said that governments don't want their citizens to use bitcoin instead of banks or fiat. But I disagree with you and the OP in saying that the government knows nothing about bitcoin. Maybe the president and politicians won't know about bitcoin because they have thousands of things to worry about but they have not just one but thousands of consultants and experts in every field working for them. It would be naive to assume they would introduce bans or regulations without knowing anything about bitcoin. I bet the government understands bitcoin better than you and I, let alone the fact that they don't understand how bitcoin works. If they were more stupid than us, they wouldn't be able to lead us.

The main reason why government are against Bitcoins is the decentralised nature of the coin. Due to the decentralised nature of the coin, no governing body or other individual can know, how many Bitcoins a user is holding. As government cannot control the coin, hence they cannot impose tax on it. Now in such situations, many government gets offended and they ban the cryptos in their respective nations. Some government have neither made Bitcoins legal nor made it illegal.

There are many reasons why a country bans Bitcoin, and most countries don't want to bring these reasons to the public. Some governments think that if Bitcoin is allowed in their country, they will not be able to control their country's economy, while some countries' governments think that if Bitcoin is allowed in their country, people will deposit their money through Bitcoin instead of keeping money in banks, which will result in their country's money going out , while some countries may ban bitcoins in the country considering their country's education rate. For example you mentioned China and Russia here, I know you all have very good economic condition of China and Russia, why they are not allowing Bitcoin in their country despite having good economic condition, there may be some reason behind it. Maybe they don't want another currency to rule their country.
Different countries generally play different roles in banning Bitcoin.

Exactly these features of Bitcoin cannot be accepted immediately by a government, so even when the impossible is not possible for them, that is why Satoshi Nakamoto is so talented, and he thought of doing it for people who don't just have financial problems, but also for other entrepreneurs who will be open to it.

Because the government cannot manage Bitcoin, they created another alternative to control other digital currencies, thus the government created restrictions on other cryptocurrencies that they can control in some way.

But they never revealed that reason to the public and also gave hundreds of other silly reasons.

But government resistance to bitcoin is also gradually failing because they cannot stop people from using it and its adoption is gradually happening faster than in previous years.

Governments do not want to receive any type of benefits to the people who reside in their countries because they are the only ones who want to keep the benefit of having a lot of bitcoin, and in fact they cannot do so, because they have more resources than the people, they can regulate Because prohibiting there will come a time when they will not be able to resist all that pressure, the eprsoans will seek to have a better vision and will look for countries where they are not prohibited from having bitcoin, because bitcoin is a way to get out of the FIAT money system where they want to do something like that to everyone. like slaves, where they give you little to do a lot.

Every country has its own lame excuses for not adopting Bitcoin. Someone is making false claims due to its volital nature that Bitcoin is harmful due to its decentralized nature. Bitcoin cannot be monitored to see how many and who are still engaged Bitcoin users. This means that every country has presented its own lame excuses for banning or restricting Bitcoin. I will tell you about my country that the government of our country has put restrictions on Bitcoin because they say that it is a money laundering asset, and it is a straight-forward way for money laundering used in an easy way. But this claim is based on such a weak argument that anyone can raise objections to it.

Now, new software has been introduced for this money laundering, AML, through which they can check transaction details and also account details based on assets to prevent money laundering, but now they are not obeying. In the same way, every country has its own excuses regarding Bitcoin, but the fact that the reason for the ban or restrictions on this Bitcoin, in my opinion, is only the fait currency, which gives these government officials money in the centre of the fait (banks). Making decisions against and banning Bitcoin

I'm not sure even if their economics department knew the concept of bitcoin properly, they would just use and legalize it. Bitcoin is a decentralized currency and cannot be manipulated or interfered with. For countries this is a problem because they cannot organize and do something if the price of goods rises, there is too little money, and there is too much money in the market.

Regulating the economy and monetary policy is not something simple, in many cases the state sometimes needs to intervene so that money, goods and people's needs are balanced, if something is unbalanced it will have market consequences. So there are many things that need to be thought about and considered before a country dares to take a policy of legalizing bitcoin for payments.

I don't know about other countries. But I know about my country. The government doesn't know anything good about Bitcoin. They have experts in every field, and those experts use Bitcoin secretly. LOL. They think Bitcoin users are criminals. Only criminals use Bitcoin to pay for their crimes. Some ministers have good knowledge of Bitcoin. For example, the Bangladeshi IT minister knows about Bitcoin, and he always supports it. But others do not agree with him because others don't understand how it works and why it's good. Some government Anal-yst say Bitcoin will open the door to money laundering. They sounds like money laundering is not happening without Bitcoin.

This is something not everyone understands, and many people think that regulating the economy is very simple, and that is why many people always complain about the government. It wouldn't be a problem if bitcoin were only legal as a commodity and strictly regulated, but if it became a currency, destroying a country's economy wouldn't be so difficult. The economy needs to be closely monitored and regulated and to do that, the government needs a tool to do that and that is fiat, which they can intervene in at any time to balance economy. There are actually a lot of things to consider and handle before accepting bitcoin as currency, which is not easy for the government.

A type of Bitcoin gambling, that's what I often hear.
When I was in the crypto space there were many negative responses given to bitcoin or crypto in my place.
Even Bitcoin was seen as a toy currency that was no more valuable than Fiat money.

But that assumption has now started to lead to an interest in crypto and Bitcoin, and how such digital coins can make a lot of money.

But after huge transaction in daily day, my government have good viewed with bitcoin and get bigger opportunity to earn more taxes with huge bitcoin transaction in daily day. Governments in our country are now fully aware of how big the transactions are in crypto and are trying to provide proper regulation.
It is also because they want to benefit from the transactions made by imposing trade tax rules for crypto.

But at least there is recognition of cryptocurrencies and the government is facilitating for crypto users.
We should only use it as a commodity asset and should not be used as a means of payment other than rupiah.

A government that has an open mind will not completely ban technology that will have a big impact in the future.
This should be utilized and used as a stepping stone to gain more benefits and support the progress of a country.

Governments of many countries have declared Bitcoin illegal and completely stopped all financial transactions and bank transactions on it. There are also many countries that are newly declaring Bitcoin as a legalized currency. Countries that have outlawed Bitcoin are mainly afraid of decentralized Bitcoin because decentralized currency cannot be controlled by governments and banks. Since Bitcoin is a decentralized currency, the government cannot control it. Moreover, banks do not want to accept Bitcoin transactions because Bitcoin does not depend on any third party. Moreover, the government is completely opposed to Bitcoin due to a fear of such a decline in the popularity of banks.

They do not dare to admit that they have failed to control bitcoin, so they find every reason to hide that failure.

In addition, the governments ban crypto specifically bitcoin because they don’t see it as a real currency, but a tool for committing fraud and scams for criminal people. Their minds are closed to that certain way of thinking no matter how crypto analysts will educate them. And because of that, almost all the governments are against to the innovation brought by bitcoin.

However, we all know that even if the government bans bitcoin, people will still find ways to access bitcoin. The fact that bitcoin remains a decentralized currency, then regardless if the government will legalized or ban bitcoin, still they can never control or traced all our bitcoin transactions.

Oh, you're totally right! It's a bit frustrating how the government views crypto. But people are resourceful. No matter what the officials say, people always find a way to get what they want. In our country, the government's stance on crypto, particularly Bitcoin, is quite skeptical. They see it as a tool for fraud and illegal activities however, the unique thing about Bitcoin is its decentralized nature. Unlike traditional currencies, it's not controlled by any government or financial institution and people can still engage in Bitcoin transactions even if the government tries to go against it.

I don't think that's their reason and they know what the real reason is, so even when crypto experts explain, they ignore it. If you are them, try to think: did crime come first or did bitcoin come first? And before bitcoin was born, what did criminals use for their crimes?
I don't think governments are stupid enough to not know those basics.

However, we all know that even if the government bans bitcoin, people will still find ways to access bitcoin. This is exactly why governments dislike and ban bitcoin, because they cannot control and monitor us if we use bitcoin. But you're right, even if they issue a ban, it won't stop people from using bitcoin and its growth.

For the future have good viewed with bitcoin in my country, first have bad mindset and right now bitcoin huge profitable with taxes income for government and they can earn much income when huge transaction in our local decentralize exchange.
Many governments, including Indonesia, change their minds quickly about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies when they realise they could bring in a lot of tax money. Initially, they avoid it, label it as gambling, and spread bad stories about it. Although, when they see a chance to make money, they change their tune, right? Allow us to now talk about how people act. With government views swaying the people, they get stuck in a mental tug-of-war. People are first told it's bad, but then it's suddenly seen as the next best thing because the government is making money off of it. What happened to consistency?

But now that the Indonesian government has demonised Bitcoin, they see how profitable it is and start taxing every transaction, whether the buyer or seller makes money or loses money. In what way does that treat the people fairly? It's good that they're looking to the future of banking, but the change seems like a wasted chance. For people to be able to handle this new financial world, they need to be given clear information and maybe even rewards.

You won't be able to convince them with this kind of explanation. Bangladeshi ministers use these things as an excuse. No matter what, what was born first. They think criminal activity will increase if they legalize Bitcoin here. Yes, they are stupid enough to give these excuses. They think Bitcoiners are criminals and only use Bitcoin to pay for their crimes.

Another reason is that the government always wants to control your money. They want tax from your every transaction. If they legalize Bitcoin and you start paying using Bitcoin, they won't know these things. They won't be able to control you.

Do you serve your government or work in government agencies? How can you know that they know nothing about bitcoin? We know where bitcoin comes from and they will also easily know bitcoin from the sources where we learn about it, knowledge about bitcoin is everywhere and it is not too difficult to find it. Furthermore, if they know nothing about it, how can they know it is harmful or widely used by criminals? That proves that your government also knows very well about bitcoin, but because they do not want to accept an asset, a currency that is not created and controlled by them. So they will give every reason to ban it.

Of course, the government needs to consider many things if it wants to implement Bitcoin as a payment currency because there will be many possible consequences. Until now I still like it if my country's government legalizes bitcoin as an asset and prohibits us from using bitcoin as a payment currency except for trading in the bitcoin/crypto market

The main problem that the country may consider is that the value of bitcoin is very volatile so it has a high risk if used as a payment currency. Imagine if I am a wood trader then I sell my wood for 1btc, I save 1btc for shopping next month but it turns out the price of bitcoin has fallen 30% so I can't buy any more wood because my capital has lost value by 30%

What he meant you can't just understand Bitcoin on the surface only without critical thinking and deep learning.

If you think Bitcoin is harmful or widely used by criminals, what's the difference with banks which can be used for money laundering? (https://sanctionscanner.com/blog/the-five-biggest-money-laundering-scandals-317), why not ban fiat and shutdown banks?

If someone really understand about Bitcoin, you wouldn't think it's a dirty money, illegal money or related with bad activity.

Governments ban Bitcoin due to concerns about its impact on the financial system, potential for illegal activities, loss of tax revenue, and volatility. However, enforcing such bans is often difficult and can have unintended consequences. As Bitcoin continues to gain popularity and support from individuals and businesses, it remains to be seen how governments will navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by this emerging digital currency.

This topic might be redundant but reasons may vary depending on countries implementing strict regulations to cryptocurrency specifically Bitcoin. We all know that there will always be pro's and con's regarding this issue but it is still up to us on how we are going to deal with cryptocurrencies even though things go against the tides.

Bitcoin is arguably the best form of money because it's decentralized and not controlled by any centralized authority. This is the reason it is branded illegal because it's a threat to fiat. The government is constantly sponsoring propaganda against bitcoin, feeding people all sorts of lies hoping that it would cripple it grow but bitcoin keeps soaring higher. We've heard lies like bitcoin is the currency used by bad actors, but the US dollars is still the most laundered currency in the world. As if that's not enough, the government are now coming up their own CBDCs, but the truth is they cannot stop bitcoin.

I think that's not the only reason, but it's also a factor why some countries wouldn't acknowledged Bitcoin since criminals could use it in any illegal activities such as transferring money, of course government can't access the information since Bitcoin is decentralized. We all know that government is smart, as they have the capability to adapt and learn such thing like crypto, imagine they are running for a long time, so a simple technology that even an average person could understand wouldn't they interpret?

This issue of government banning crypto (Bitcoin) really depends on the country, especially countries that are relying on their own currency, cause it could be consider as threat that might affect the economy. Plus they couldn't control it as well which they can't put taxation for them to benefit.

Former European central bank President (https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-is-not-real-says-former-european-central-bank-chief) once said bitcoin is not real, he also said he is against bitcoin, so many people saying there own opinion towards bitcoin.
I know not everyone will believe in bitcoin but this is exactly what I expect from such people and if i was in in his i will also be against bitcoin something that will make my company become irrelevant. They are pained about the creation of bitcoin and because of its features which are against the regulations of the government, they are worried that one day it may become more relevant to people than their fiat so they are trying to do everything in their power just to condemn bitcoin.

  • Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are banned in most countries, China, Russia and many more. Because the government is afraid of bitcoin
Exactly, Bitcoin’s features makes it more suitable for people than their currency and also has so many advantages over fiat that’s why they are afraid of it. Bitcoin is so powerful that it can render fiat currencies useless that’s why most countries doesn’t want to legalize the use of bitcoin. The Government already knows alot about bitcoin so they are doing all they can not to make any mistakes to let bitcoin takeover.

  • knowing that bitcoin is a decentralize currency, the government cannot control and monitor your funds.
This is the major reason why the government is scared of bitcoin, people have suffered so much in the hands of the government they come up new regulations every now and then which is always in their favor neglecting the effects it will have on the people. People lack freedom over their own hard earned money and they even monitor the way people spend their money which in my opinion is bad.

Kudos to Satoshi for thinking of a way to solve this issue people face regarding their own money. Decentralization have done it all with bitcoin we now have total control of our money

If the financial advisers gave the right information on cryptocurrency many countries would have adopted bitcoin in their countries. Some of them were trying to prevent their citizens from internet fraudstars and scammers probably because of the previous experienced in the country.
I don’t think that’s their first thought, they are only their own personal gains and if you say preventing people from scam is their reason for going against bitcoin then i would disagree with you because scam have been in existence long before bitcoin bitcoin was invented. Read here (https://www.irisidentityprotection.com/blog/the-evolution-of scams#:~:text=The%20earliest%20recorded%20case%20of,once%20they%20delivered%20their%20cargo.) when the first case of scam was recorded so why don’t they focus on preventing fiat scams that have been in existence for long.

Well to be very honest why would any government not ban cryptocurrency? They all are aware that cryptocurrency can’t be regulated and will be helped to fund shady organisations across the oceans. Although the government themselves might be using the same currency for their own shady transactions.

  • It is a bubble that will burst soon
  • It is a Ponzi scheme
  • It is a scam
  • It cannot be a currency because only government issues a currency
And many more things. I do not actually blame them because bitcoin was completely new and strange, but if people still hold same believe about bitcoin today, I will say that they are wrong and somewhat gullible.

So far, they are all losing, and if things keep going like this, governments around the world will have to become friendly with Bitcoin sooner or later, with the way things are looking right now, I think for the first time in history, Bitcoin will defeat them all, and bring them closer too.

I believe most government are already doing that but it’s hard for them to come out to the open and publicly embrace it, I don’t see much of a direct attack from many government now are days what I have been seeing is government and it’s regulatory authority attacking altcoins and large crypto firms like big exchanges this is as a result of them figuring the market manipulation that those exchange are doing and the kind of fee they are taking which the government are just after their tax and other licenses fee payable.

Looking at things now even the high energy they claim bitcoin was consuming and was causing a damage to climate has also been less of a topic now are days as it’s make use of more less energy and has no negative effect to any climate, with time we will see many government publicly adding bitcoin as part of the general accepted currency for local payment.

They don't attack bitcoin and they attack altcoins and centralized exchanges because there is no point in attacking bitcoin because there is no one in charge, bitcoin is decentralized. Meanwhile, altcoins and CEX are centralized by leaders and operators so litigation and sanctions will be easier.

As for the issue of bitcoin consuming a lot of energy and polluting the environment, that is just an excuse for them to smear bitcoin. But eventually they realized that no matter what they said about bitcoin, people wouldn't stop using it, so they kept quiet and silently accepted bitcoin. I also believe that in the near future all governments will accept bitcoin, bitcoin will be popular all over the world.

Bangladesh's government's hasty actions in areas they dont understand are painfully obvious. Crypto, which is decentralized, terrifies these authorities because it may escape financial rules. Money laundering worries are real, but why not tighten laws instead of banning it? Through stringent regulations and oversight, several nations regulate cryptocurrency for financial security and prosperity.

Bangladesh is suppressing financial innovation and driving its citizens into perilous seas by banning crypto. With a restriction, people become more clandestine, resulting to the unlawful transactions the government fears. Sinister cycle. Instead of embracing cryptocurrency's potential and educating its citizens, the government is stifling innovation. Unfortunately, fear and ignorance cause family and social divisions and economic disadvantages.

It's good that only the simple ones studied; they understood the simple context or concept of Bitcoin. For me, it is true that bitcoin is not a physical currency, but whale investors have given it a value in which it is not real money but can be exchanged for real money. It's just common sense; if it's really fake, I hope it's not included in the stock market or forex trading because it's all fiat currencies. Think about that: is it right or not?

Every government has probably their own reason why they ban bitcoin, but one thing is certain is that they can’t totally control bitcoin and all its transactions, due to its highly decentralized nature. The reason why some countries chose to regulate it instead of banning hoping that it could be centralized in the future.

However, the good thing about bitcoin is that no matter how the government dislike its existence, or even if they decide to ban it for good, people will still be able to continue operating bitcoin and continue its accumulation. The fact that it remains decentralized up to this moment, then people can still enjoy the freedom that they want to obtain out from a very controlling government. Financial freedom will always be possible as long as bitcoin stay out of the shades of the government.

The very main reason why I believe some countries have negative approach towards bitcoin is that this market is decentralized.
So the government has no hold or no control on this currency and that they don't want to deal with such uncertain market.
Also, the point that most of these officials up until now are not really educated to this market, hence, their hesitation to include this in their financial plans.
So I guess, learning this market will give them more insights and be more open mind as this market will continue whether they will participate or not.
Well, as long as bitcoin is decentralized, they can never manipulate or take full control on its market. That is the main reason I believe that they don't develop or encourage themselves to understand bitcoin well. They assume that bitcoin is a tool for criminals and something like bitcoin has no place in the government or in the lives of the people.

But in reality, the opposite actually happens. Even if they continuously put restrictions on using bitcoin or some countries have banned it, it seems bitcoin is not even triggered but has even flourished and becomes the choice of the people more than fiat currency. And if promotion will continue to spread worldwide, I guess by that time the government will definitely lose its hope to navigate or manipulate bitcoin based on its own personal interest.

It is not that they don't understand Bitcoin and its technology, it is that Bitcoin is not aligned to the government's vision of having authoritative control over everything.  Since the government cannot control the Bitcoin network, they try to restrict or regulate it according to what is written on the law.

It's good that only the simple ones studied; they understood the simple context or concept of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is included on the exchanges because there is a demand and some governments agree and or tolerate it to be included on these exchanges.  About Bitcoin being money, it has been long debated but there is no doubt, after all these years, Bitcoin has established that it has real value.

If you are talking about local exchanges, including Bitcoin in local exchanges is at the discretion of the exchange owner, the government only provides regulations on how it is used and the government applies taxes on trades that occur.

and Bitcoin as a currency maybe some people have different opinions.
If it is said to be a currency it will be used as a legal transaction tool, but some government regulations such as the government in my country do not allow Bitcoin to be used as a payment currency, only as a commodity or for trading.

Bitcoin does have real value, providing benefits from trading activities carried out.
But to become a currency, a means of payment is still quite difficult because it is hindered by regulations that are not in line.

Just as you have mentioned or said rather, the countries that banned bitcoin did so for several reasons, but for me, what I have always believed is that, the government will always hate what they cant conquer, and try to destroy that which they do not understand that seem like a threat to them and their centralized financial system.
What makes the government powerful is the control they have over the citizens and the country; the most visible one being economic power. Whenever that control is threatened, the government always try to resist.  Bitcoin is known to limit this controls by eliminating several means through which the government exerts this control forces such as the banks and other third parties. We should not expect the government not to react because they will.

One thing that is certain is that you cannot ban what you cannot control,  there will always be a way people trade in Bitcoin. Ban will only slow the spread but cannot stop people from trading in Bitcoin.

For obvious reason, cryptocurrency is the opposite of how government wants to fiat, it's a matter of how they can control it which is they can't over crypto. For those countries who accepts bitcoin (crypto-friendly) are those government who understand y really well and used it for their advantage.

You're absolutely right! Governments often oppose things that don't align with their interests. Bitcoin challenges the traditional banking system, which can be seen as a threat. Instead of embracing its potential benefits, some governments choose to ban it. However, Bitcoin has the potential to positively impact economies. For instance, it can create opportunities for self-employment, reducing unemployment rates and boosting a country's economy. It's a shame that greed and ignorance sometimes cloud the judgment of governments.

The truth is that cryptocurrencies are still in their infancy and its impossible to predict how they will evolve overtime. The greater the dominance of Bitcoin, the more fearful the market is and the lesser the Bitcoin dominance, the greater the crypto market becomes. It cannot be regulated, it is used by criminal, and it can help citizens circumvent capital controls; is amongst the greatest challenges facing government about Bitcoin. Twelve years ago after its inception, the world is still deciding what Bitcoin does as well as how it should be classified cos there have been lots of complications.

If it's only because they will lose financial gains if they approve Bitcoin, then there are ways to make money even with legalizing Bitcoin. Indian Government approved Bitcoin transactions as a legal and implemented tax on their financial gains. Many governments can also do this if they want to make money from Bitcoiner's profit. The Romanian government approved Bitcoin transactions as legal as well, and they also implied tax on financial gains. But when controlling your money, there is no point in supporting Bitcoin or any other crypto.

As I said before, this is exactly why governments don't want to accept bitcoin so they won't be stupid enough to accept bitcoin and accept losing control.

We both agree here.

I really struggle to see how the declaration from the former European central bank president can be taken seriously since there is a clear conflict of interests in this case, it's like asking someone who sells petrol or coal what the thinks about electrical car, and of course it works also the other way around. Fiat money is a joke, they can just print as much as they want and they have total control over it, with bitcoin they can't do that, so of course many bankers/institutions are against it, but they're too late now.
