Title: Which old coin do you prefer? Litecoin or Dogecoin?
Post by: Abiky on October 16, 2023, 11:34:42 AM
Among the good-old coins listed on the market today, which one do you prefer the most? Litecoin or Dogecoin? The former is often used for serious cross-border payments at a fraction of the cost, while the latter is used more for micropayments/tipping. Despite these differences, it's no secret that DOGE is faster and cheaper to use than LTC itself (Dogecoin's block time is lower than Litecoin's, while market prices are cheaper). I'd choose both as they're tried-and-tested blockchain networks with decentralization and security/reliability in mind.

What would be your pick? And why did you choose that coin in the first place? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

I prefer Dogecoin rather than Litecoin, even though Dogecoin is a meme coin, but I have often used Dogecoin to make transactions and in my opinion transactions using Dogecoin are very fast and of course the gas fees are also very cheap, so if one day cryptocurrency will become a currency that legal, so I'm sure there will be many people or companies using Dogecoin for transactions, because transactions using Dogecoin are very fast and cheap.

Personally I didnt use any of these two yet but Ive traded them before on exchange. I am fond of using bitcoin and other altcoins instead of old coins so I didnt know the feeling of using it. But some of my friends are using dogecoin as its very fast and got small fees. Not sure if comparable to L1 if its still much cheaper though.

I will go with the litecoin. The dogecoin is just a meme coin. it will popular the awareness about the crypto in the community. but the litecoin has real utility rather than the dogecoin. When it comes to decentralization, litecoin is more decentralize than the dogecoin

I thought I was the only one, literally, who noticed the fast transaction speed of Dogecoin. The first time I used it a few years again, I was shocked because the transfer I made confirmed even before I could flip the site to check it. Not even BSC transactions come any close to its speed and ease of confirmation. As for Litecoin, I first knew of it when it was $4 but for one thing or the other I haven't keyed into buying and keeping more than a handful of it. Just a few weeks ago I tried again and bought a few days to its halving but the outcome has been regretful as the coin slumped after that event. It has continued on a steep since then.

I will choose Dogecoin any day above Litecoin or any other alts when it comes to payment option.

They are the coins that were still here before Ethereum made its entrance into the Crypto world they are two coins that were considered to be Bitcoin's rival but that was then they had their own community and were still considered to have a place in the market, I like both of them where Bitcoin is you can also find these two coins, in exchange and on casinos and on market place, they have built their niche in the community.

Right now Dogecoin has an edge because the meme coins are trending now and because they got backed by the richest man on Earth Elon MusK, maybe Litecoin will be put in the spotlight but if the meme trends are over Litecoin will have an edge against Dogecoin
But these two coins are worth keeping in your portfolio.

My first preference will be doge coin. Having a great utility is one of the most important thing of any coin or project. Even though litecoin is more aggressive in that part from doge coin, later one is having huge community and kind a backed up by Elon Musk along with nonpayment utility. It also offers less gas fee for its transactions which is also one of the important factor.
From investment perspective, doge coin is way better than litecoin if we look at the growth patterns.

no thanks for both, doge already pump really hard, and ltc always like that from begining its like to long for gain some percentage
either way for safety return ltc seems ok at current price. and yes doge maybe get some love again from elon. but i wouldnt bet to move like before

I will be honest, when it comes to investing in these meme coin i would always avoid coin like doge thats basically just meme coin that has reached its peak, but when it comes to investing and i'm limited to only 2 options mentioned above, then its no brainer that i would choose doge for the simple fact that it got more fluctuation therefore could easily make profit from it than the other.
I can't really see much massive rise potential when it comes to litecoin and i personally didn't think it will have yet another massive bullrun either.
the technology is obsolete with this coin, smart contract based blockchain are better, meanwhile doge coin price was driven mainly by hypes not the technology.

Both coins are used only for gambling. Casinos have widely integrated the two coins because they have fast transaction speeds and low fees.

There are also those with the intention of investing in both coins no problem except doge which is called gambling because it does not know when it will go up unless it only relies on the hype of Elon Musk, so far that's what I use for gambling - because with both coins the withdrawals and deposits are very small.

I prefer Litecoin. I mean, DOGE is great and all, but it's a memecoin, and it's time has passed. But I'm not investing in LTC, I'm using it for cheap transactions. I'm sure DOGE is not much worse, but I'm used to LTC.

Personally I like both LTC and DOGE coins. Considering some aspect between LTC and DOGE coin I would give LTC more importance because LTC has higher transaction fees but it pumps better in futures which helps traders to get huge profits. On the upside, the transaction fee of DOGE coin is comparatively very low and very fast, according to this aspect, DOGE coin is very good. Although doge coin has good ranking and it will give good traders less profit for meme coin. This is why I think people will use DOGE coin more than LTC.

Just as you, I'll choose both.

Litecoin is the silver Bitcoin and up to now is still one of the top coins. It has a solid foundation and community that even Lee is no longer around this coin, it's still moving on.

I think projects that have been built and has got a solid community will stay regardless of what type of coin they are. And Litecoin is just one of those few that are still up til' now.

Dogecoin is good and it has started the craze for meme coins but talking about fees and speed, no doubt it's one that belongs to the gang.

I personally won’t choose either but for the sake of the topic, I’d say Litecoin has an advantage. Ofcourse Doge has larger demand nowadays because of the hype created by meme tokens. But to put it aside, Litecoin has been in this industry for years which for me, adds credibility from investing into it. Dogecoin is indeed more profitable but I just cannot gauge its volatility which is most of the time controlled by whales and FOMOs, more than established coins in this industry. Choosing between the two relies on the purpose. If it is with more profit then Doge, but if it is some sort of market sustainability then I think Litecoin would be a good choice as well. Again, have no investment on these two.

Of course Litecoin. Dogecoin has completely lost its credibility and utilitarian properties. This is largely thanks to Ilon Musk. DOGE used to be a convenient tool for transferring value between exchanges, but now it's not exactly profitable. The cost of transactions can be as high as 50 cents. Litecoin allows transfers for a few cents and the speed of transaction confirmation is extremely fast. DOGE has now become synonymous with manipulation.

Looks like DogeCoin has had a huge impact in the last few years and it is because Elon Musk always promoted it throughout these years, But with the constant update, Litecoin is still there and worth investing but not really recommendable because you can always choose Bitcoins for the high chance of success in your investment. Nevertheless, this is not an easy investment because both are tricky and you need to get the right timing when to sell your Doge or LTC because their price just suddenly decreases most of the time, especially Doge.

I used to use them moving money between exchanges when there wasn't any other good coins that exchanges had adopted. First i used litecoin as i didn't trust doge. But after seeing the speed, cost and liquidity of it, it came a no-brainer to choose that. I would convert to it to something else anyway. It was just for transfers.

These days, if i still would have to choose, it would be doge unless it would get slow and expensive at some point. But i doubt it would get used that much.

I would choose Litecoin if the transaction amount is huge as I cannot risk transaction of huge amount at the mercy of an meme coin which can pump to 10x or dump to zero at anytime, I have used Litecoin in the past when they were not many lightening speed transaction options available and I know Doge is cheaper and faster than LTC but as I said if it's higher amount I would go with LTC and if it's smaller transaction I will go ahead with Doge.

Indeed, this is what I would do if I had the desire to choose one of these tokens. The Litcoin project is an old and famous project and has great potential, and even its token transactions take place very quickly and with reasonable fees. In the first place, LTC is not considered a meme coin like DOGE, which is manipulated from time to time and is not highly volatile like it.

It is possible that if someone prefers to choose DOGE to complete a transaction and pay some small fees, he will be surprised after some time that the amount of the completed transaction has decreased significantly and exceeded the amount of fees that he wanted to save in this token. LTC may have slightly more expensive fees, but from my point of view, It is a safe token, and I can put a large amount in it to carry out any transactions and invest it with peace of mind, unlike DOGE or any other meme coins.

Sunday!

Litecoin.  At least it was designed to serve some sort of purpose.  Dogecoin is and was just around as a joke.  But on a fundamental side there is an endless block reward of 10,000 coins every minute...forever.  there is no way that demand can outpace supply that is endless.  The price of doge will eventually just keep falling due to the imbalance.

Why these two coins? Honestly, I had a pretty bad experience with both of them. Forget about Doge because I'm not a fan of meme coins. As for Litecoin, I was very interested and trusted this old coin. So in the previous bearish era, I bought some LT and hoped that the price would jump high like other old altcoins. But in reality, it was really different. In fact, they are also not very developed, just like that. Of course their progress will continue to be shifted by various new projects or coins that have the same use case and are much better. I don't know, I doubt whether this coin will actually rise again or not in the next bullish era. What is certain is, if I want to increase the accumulation of these two coins, whether LTC or Doge, I choose not to. I chose another coin that was much more promising for me.

this is the truth, these old rusty coins are rusty for reason, because they never performed well, never release update and innovation neither, making it quite literally just some old coin with no hope of having massive bullrun anymore.
same thing with doge coin the difference is that doge actually already had reached its peak, the massive bullrun for doge was already over.
if i were to choose i'd also prefer to not choose either of the two, mainly because there are better coin that are newly released out there, which definitely have better future and prospect.

If I should choose between litecoin and Dogecoin I will choose a litecoin because a litecoin have potential and volatility than dogecoin, even litecoin has survived many bearish likewise doge, but in the market and top ten list of altcoins after ethereum I think litecoin should be another to be listed because of its volatility.

The network of litecoin they have a few charges in transaction, their transaction fee is much better to be compared to the one of ethereum and even the one of bitcoin.. I could remember vividly when I was in Betnomi long time ago, the website of Betnomi is the place where we received payment and when you withdraw your funds in bitcoin you will pay high transaction fee that will take up to six to seven dollars then, but when you withdraw with litecoin you pay lesser charges

So since that time I still prefer litecoin charging fee more than any other coins of altcoins and the volatility of litecoin is still encouraging, it doesn't diminish in value like other coins, its not that the technology of dogecoin is not good, but we are looking at features in both of them, so it's not comparable with litecoin because litecoin is of higher potential than dogecoin from my perspective and point of view.

We can't say that to happen since doge have unexpected run and litecoin can still be consider as good coin to have since it decently remain strong coin which still have a lot of value. I would rather have both Doge and Lite coin rather than choosing to acquire those newly launch coin since for me reputation really matters then can't easily trust those new for long term hodl. Market still promising and we cannot say that Bull run for Doge or Lite coin is already over since there's still to many happening that can change the whole market landscape.

We also need to consider that this coins will be brought up if bitcoin bull run will exist so its good to acquire this coin for now then see how far it will pump when said event will happen. But if I'm going to choose between this two coin I would choose Doge coin for now.

If there's one person who takes Dogecoin seriously, that would be Elon Musk. After all, he's the one who brought the "meme" coins hype. Foolish investors make their decisions based on Elon Musk's opinion. They will end up getting "rekt" in the long run. As the original creators stated, Dogecoin is only a "joke". It's more like a "fun experiment" that "doesn't break the bank". With ever-rising inflation, DOGE will become worthless in the future. It's not a matter of "IF" but rather "WHEN".

For serious day-to-day transactions, Litecoin would be the way to go. It's close to Bitcoin in terms of decentralization, economic model, and censorship-resistance. With added privacy features (Mimblewimble) and LN integration, LTC will become bigger and stronger than ever. Maybe LTC will reach a new ATH within the not-so-distant future? :D

Yes that's right, the bull run starts and after a few days LTC will pump a lot more I think but if you look at LTC's transaction fee or transaction time you will definitely see DOGE is lower and cheaper than LTC. But for profit, the current price of LTC is $62 which is about 84% down from the 2021 bull run price. Yes, it will hit $450 in the next bull run. But I would say DOGE coin should be on any investor's choice list. Why will it also get a good price in bull run.

As the op said Litecoin Dogecoin which of the two is better I find it much easier to use Dogecoin than Litecoin.  Especially when working on Dogecoin, this gas is very low and Dogecoin works very fast. I think if Dogecoin was as popular as Bitcoin maybe one day everyone would be interested in using Dogecoin.

DOGE, and I will DOGE until the very end of my life - like the named "DOGECOIN Millionaire" is. :D

Kidding aside, I don't know the exact reason, but I prefer DOGE more than LTC. Maybe because of the transaction speed? Maybe because of it's popularity? Maybe because of the fact that it's fees are lower than that of LTC. Overall, I don't see any reason why I'd choose Litecoin over DOGE. Wait, I already have a reason. It's because Elon Musk will add it into his platform X, and might be used for tipping those people. Well, that's the main use case of DOGE from the start so... yeah. :D. As for Litecoin, there are no significant news regarding the project anymore, but that doesn't mean that the project is dead already.

Overall, both of them will pump during the bull run, so I guess holding both of them, then sell during the bull run isn't a bad idea, eh? :)

Why choose one if you can have both coins? 😝 Dogecoin is cheap and fast Litecoin is decentralized and is much more expensive than Doge, so it really depends on your personal preferences. I personally like Doge but if I had by any chance extra money to buy, then I would love to buy both.

I disagree, doge is not something that I would even remotely consider investing into and I do not think that it would make sense if we wanted to invest into that. I believe that we should try to avoid it as much as you can and should not be really doing anything that would not make sense for anyone.

I get that it may not look awesome for the time being, but I believe that if we give it enough time then we are going to end up with a lot more profit with LTC on the long run. One of them only goes up due to hype and gets super high for a short period of time and if you make profit then you do if not then you miss your chance, the other is not like that at all and goes up long term consistently every single bull run.

1. **Active Community**: Dogecoin has a very active and passionate community. This often leads to a lot of online activity and support for Dogecoin, which can be attractive to people who enjoy being part of a lively and engaged community.

Most of this community is just waiting for a new mention from Ilon Musk.

2. **Fun and Friendly Image**: Unlike many other cryptocurrencies which have a more serious and business-like image, Dogecoin was created as a fun and friendly alternative. The Shiba Inu dog meme as its logo has helped it to stand out and attract people who are drawn to its light-hearted approach.

It used to be before Musk ruined the image of this coin and associated DOGE with yet another manipulation.

3. **Accessibility**: Dogecoin is often fairly cheap to buy compared to other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. This makes it more accessible to people who want to get involved in cryptocurrency but don't have a lot of money to invest.

What a difference, bitcoin and DOGE can be bought anywhere for $100 and it will be an equally affordable purchase despite bitcoin costing many times more.

4. **Potential for Growth**: While Dogecoin started as a joke, it has shown significant growth and has been embraced by a number of high-profile individuals and companies. This has led some people to believe that it has the potential for significant future growth.

Without Ilon Musk, the growth potential of this coin is quite weak.

5. **Tipping and Small Transactions**: Dogecoin has been used as a form of tipping content creators on the internet. Its low value per coin makes it ideal for these small transactions.

On exchanges, it is already a highly unprofitable coin for transactions.

Thank you. :)
I think I'll pick DOGE considering it's way more popular than Litecoin and has way more room for development and it's likely backed by Elon (and I agree with what Xalolex said above). It's just a choice and I choose what could make a profit even more and that's DOGE. I have used DOGE more in the past compare to Litecoin and for me the ease of use will surely vary to every individuals, no doubt even if there's a poll it will be an easy win for DOGE.

Why choose one if you can have both coins? 😝 Dogecoin is cheap and fast Litecoin is decentralized and is much more expensive than Doge, so it really depends on your personal preferences. I personally like Doge but if I had by any chance extra money to buy, then I would love to buy both.

Bingo both is the correct answer.

If you believe in BTC which has the largest amount of power and infrastructure in the world. You need to believe in scrypt mining ⛏️ which has the second largest amount of gear and infrastructure in the world.

Since you can merge mine both ltc+doge with an antminer L7 rational sane people prefer both coins.

I mine ltc and doge every day day after day.

We hate Dogecoin because of its manipulative price but this also gives profit to the investors. The Dogecoin community is getting big while we hate Elon Musk, more people have come to invest in Dogecoin which keeps this project popular despite it was meme coin.

But talking about Litecoin seems to be out of the trend and popularity these days but yes, still a good investment. However, with the current situation and the expected bull season, I'd prefer to invest in Dogecoin over Litecoin as I'd see that Doge seems to give more pumps.

Both are convincing - but I think Doge has become less promising after the Elon Musk hype. The decentralization of these two ancient altcoin is one of my considerations if I intend to include them in my portfolio in the future - but I still haven't gotten a good interest in those two altcoin because they are more focused on bitcoin.

I'm all for diversification - but I wouldn't do it with too many altcoins. Doge was definitely one of the ones I was watching the most since 2020 - but I let go of that great opportunity simply because I was more confident and felt safe with bitcoin.

I prefer dogecoin to litecoin.  Dogecoin have much higher utility than litecoin and utility is the most important thing in any coin or project.  I think most people invest in dogecoin more than litecoin.  Litecoin doesn't have much growth potential, and dogecoin have growth potential.  Among other meme tokens there is certainly a greater demand for dogecoin. We also heard some time ago that Elon Musk bought shares of Dogecoin.  Also, many investors are speculating that Doge will give very good profits in bull markets.

For starters, Litecoin has the "Mimblewimble" privacy feature and LN integration. You don't see that coming with Dogecoin. I think most people prefer Dogecoin on top of Litecoin because of its inexpensiveness. It's no secret that Dogecoin market prices are a hell of a lot cheaper than Litecoin. The latter has a limited supply, whereas Dogecoin's supply inflnitely expands over time. This makes the "meme" coin more suitable as a currency than a store of value.

Dogecoin's inflation rate should be able to keep market prices low for the forseeable future. How cool is that? Sometimes I wish Dogecoin would go back to being worth less than a cent (USD). Just like in the early days. Maybe it will happen after the hype fades away? :)

I'd go with Litecoin. I have more experience with using it compared to Dogecoin and I've rarely touched meme coins before. It doesn't help that as you've said, it's supply expans infinitely. I also don't really like how the market went up all of a sudden beforehand all because of Elon and his shenanigans, probably the number one reason why I stayed away from it like a plague. Seeing as the case has died down though I might check it out at some point later.

I think both DOGE and Litecoin has the same utility and that is they are being used for payment purposes because they are fast and their fees are only cheap. When it comes to growth patterns, maybe DOGE pumped a lot but that only happened rarely and we aren't even sure if history will repeat again for it while Litecoin is only slow but steady.

For me I wouldn't mind going for both of them when it comes to payment purposes or when I play gambling because I can sometimes win using the free DOGE and Litecoin that I get. And then some crypto wallets that I use can only support either one of them. But in terms of investment, I will definitely go with Litecoin.

The dogecoin is the meme coin,So the Litecoin is the better option to my point. But it’s essential to keep your investment after your own analysis will be the better option.Every trader should ready to learn the trading by the practical experience. Many people opinion was Litecoin is the next Ethereum. The current market movement of the dogecoin is low compared to the litecoin. The transaction fee also Lowe in the Litecoin compared to the dogecoin.

Always preferring dogecoin other all coins as it has great potential to grow in future. Dogecoin drops from .7$ and it will go to 1$ in a longer run but you have to wait for may be 1 year or 2 year.

Won't be Dogecoin anymore because I think the hype that relies mostly on it has been over. Litecoin hasn't been at its peak again for a very long time and maybe it's now the sleeping giant as they say.

Always preferring dogecoin other all coins as it has great potential to grow in future. Dogecoin drops from .7$ and it will go to 1$ in a longer run but you have to wait for may be 1 year or 2 year.
It's a milestone if ever Dogecoin reaches back to its former ATH which is $0.7 and then will break from that price to go ahead to $1. Those that have millions of it in supply will definitely become millionaires but will it happen again? We don't know, maybe or it won't. Considering the supply of it and the market cap, there should really be a lot in the entire crypto market by that time. Although I am sure this market will grow mainly for Bitcoin and other top altcoins but with such supplies for Dogecoin, maybe it will be hard to no avail.

I used to be sympathetic to both on the early years of crypto universe and even accumulated some LTC and DOGE from faucets, which were quite generous and easy to claim from. I enjoyed the fact we could acquire more units of those altcoins when compared to BTC. After all, it didn't mean much, as proportionally to dollar price, rewards were all equal, but it had a psychological effect, anyway.

However, if I had to pick one of them nowadays, I think I would go for LTC, as I don't like the fact Elon Musk "kidnapped" DOGE for his personal manipulative schemes inside crypto industry. From a friendly coin to a heavily manipulated coin by a whale. That is never good for average investors who are trying to thrive on this universe by themselves to be manipulated and driven maliciously by whales and speculators.

Also, after Elon Musk entered the game, we had tons of tokens being launched under the flag of "memecoins", and that was horrible... Of course it wasn't DOGE's fault, but indirectly it's linked as well, unfortunatelly.

Honestly, none of those.
If we think about old coins, why don't we take other old coins which might have a more significant upside potential than these two? Litecoin seems to have failed in the last bullish season. Meanwhile, last season's Doge skyrocketed, making this meme coin very hyped at that time. But in the end, will they repeat the same history in the bullish season next season? I'm not really sure about that. So if I were to choose old coins, I would definitely prefer Ethereum and maybe also XRP or BNB.

That's certainly true, mate. Dogecoin's success is concentrated in Elon Musk himself. Almost everyone follows the man's advise when investing into DOGE. Talk about "decentralization". On the other hand, Litecoin creator Charlie Lee decided to step down from the project to make it more decentralized. There's no one to follow, other than the community itself.

We could say Litecoin's price is driven by utility instead of hype (speculation). The cryptocurrency (LTC) is often used to test new features before they're integrated into the main Bitcoin blockchain. With a limited supply of only 84m units, Litecoin has a high chance of becoming "Silver to Bitcoin's Gold" in the future. It's very undervalued to say the least. Hopefully, people will notice its true benefits resulting in a massive pump in market prices. Who knows how far will LTC go? ;D

Nice choices! Both Solana and Doge are great coins for transactions and investments. Doge has lower fees compared to Litecoin, but because of Doge's price volatility, some people might prefer Litecoin for more stable transactions. When it comes to investments, Doge appeals to meme lovers, while Litecoin is favored by low-risk investors. Personally, I've chosen to invest in both. Gotta diversify, right?

If I had to pick between these two, my favorite would be litecoin. There are lot of advantages of using this coin like the transactions are very fast and fees is also low. It has proved to be a genuine project for longer time. On the other hand , dogecoin is based on hype created by Elon and others. So , I am a conservative guy and thus I will go with litecoin.

The two aren't good choice of selection. One is old freight people are halving to revive it's price since after it's first all time high while the second is been pump by Elon influence. Even when he just sneeze and mention the name, the bag holders will use that as advantage to pump the price for their own advantage.

Litecoin is deflated a car that need bitcoin infleuce to ride. They just completed it's halving about a month a go but it seems the coin hasn't been itself because lots of people that bought before the halving sold few days before the halving and immediately after the halving, that means there is no strong believe in the project. If the halving is really significant, they should be up by now and not below whereit is been traded before the halving. It can go up when bitcoin halving approached, your best choice is now.

Dogecoin, the master of memes of all. The propaganda coin that need hype to grow. I'm not sure what is going to be the new wave of his growth but the whales behind this coin always find something to push the price. You can buy this and join the speculative environment of Tesla, they always believe doge and Telsa will have a great relationship in the future. ;D

Dogecoin is quite familiar among altcoins but since it was a meme coin, many don't see it as a great choice, especially for long-term investment. But considering these two options, I see that more people will vote for Dogecoin over Litecoin. This is how Elon Musk influenced the minds of the people who thought that he would drive Dogecoin too high just like what he did before.

Litecoin. In a biased opinion though. ;D
I don't like meme coins. Never had I bought Dogecoins or used it but that's only my personal choice. Litecoin on the other hand, I use it most of the time in gambling platforms as I feel like I am also using Bitcoin with it. I don't keep too much as my assets are already set to something more reliable and reputable but in usage, Litecoin is mostly the cryptocurrency that I used when I gamble.
I think I also got used to it and don't want to change that. Also, I find my luck on this coin, and changing it might bring me bad luck the next time I gamble.
I know some gamblers would prefer meme coins because they can feel like they are betting a lot due to their low value but the scary part is when it is dumped and we are stuck at being unable to cash it out.

Apart from Dogecoin being a memecoin, it has controversies surrounding its circulating supply and then the use case is something to worry about. It was said to be a carricature, and that can not in anyway stand as a sufficient enough reason why one will prefer it even though it has garnered more ROI than LTC. On a comparison scale, Litecoin is way better and most preferred to Dogecoin and improvements are actually seen on the technicality of Litecoin as its Dev is not sleeping on it.

However, for earish seasons like now, Lite Coin is clearly an option for investing, especially as the chart shows bullish signs, even though up to now there is still a price correction

I like both litecoin and dogecoin.  Old and reliable, and most important, decentralized, not a token.

But if I have to pick one among two, I pick Dogecoin.  I think the reason is obvious, no need to explain here.

I don't use altcoins for cross-border payments or tipping or anything, and I just use altcoins for trading which is the reason why I prefer Litecoin over Dogecoin because I believe Dogecoin doesn't have any organic growth, and by organic growth, I mean that it doesn't grow on its own unless it is hyped by an individual like Elon Musk or by its community, and a normal cryptocurrency wouldn't be like that. Altcoins should be able to go up and down sometimes organically.

So, this is the basic reason why I prefer Litecoin over Dogecoin. Otherwise, I know that Dogecoin has a lower block time and transaction fee and its blockchain isn't that bad, but at the end of the day, it's a meme coin and we all know that meme coins mainly depend on community hype for them to gain value.

A bad example is contagious. Many people are absolutely unable to analyze and have no opinion of their own, so it is easier for them to listen to someone and repeat after them. Various opinion leaders take good advantage of this, gathering such an audience around them. DOGE is more speculative, while Litecoin has a strong fundamental and utilitarianism, but in the crypto world utilitarianism is valued much less than the opportunity for speculation, which is why various junk coins are so often growing in value on the crypto market.

If there are two choices then maybe I will learn more about LTC even though it may not be a priority. Doge could still be an option but with what has happened to them where the hype is high and the Pump and Dump is unreasonable before I would rather avoid this.
Not that I don't like it because I used to like this coin but for now I prefer to play it safe rather than having to force a big risk.

I used to like doge before for transfer purposes because it is quite cheap, that's when it was not yet hyped up by Elon.
But when he started mentioning this old meme coin, the price increased and so the fees.
That's when I checked LTC, and they are cheaper now in fees, or maybe it depends on the platform you are using.
But on the note of fees, I believe, both are still good and you can find them in almost trading platforms, so it is quite easy to trade these alts.
But for long-term investments, I won't choose any of these alts. I'll stick with btc for long-term holding.
These alts for me, have uncertain futures as compared to btc. We don't know where their developments will bring them into.

But some of my friends are using dogecoin as its very fast and got small fees. Not sure if comparable to L1 if its still much cheaper though.
I still prefer dogecoin,  because reason being that,  dogecoin have given me a big profits before while the coin was still at it early stage I bought a few of it and left them in a wallet and at that period of the dogecoin craze I made a lot of profits from the coin and ever since then I haven't gone back or try to buy back even though the price of dogecoin plumb down significantly a few weeks after that.

So if I were to choose between the two coins,  I would choose dogecoin still since it has been proven that dogecoin has higher fans and chances of recovery,  compared to litecoin which looks like a copycat of other projects, for me,  dogecoin all the way.

Maybe you are right, but we are talking about technicalities here which one is much convenient and efficient. I cant deny that dogecoin has made a lot of craze last bull run and thats a fact though. Dogecoin is a much contender when it comes to profits since tis founder is super famous but litecoin is also a good and one of the proven coin that has superb tech next to bitcoin and theres a lot of developers prefer that.

I would have bought both if this crazy space lover guy had not come in to shill for one make the entire crypto ecosystem look like a joke. In the light these recent events, I would prefer Litecoin being the silver to bitcoin and buying that. Even then I dont see much price movements in the future that I can ascertain unlike bitcoin and hence would not invest more than a grand.

I sold most of the DOGE when that shilling happened and made a good profit off it. Never looked back at them. I still believe litecoin can have a good future.

Both these coins are really old. I remember while playing at Bitsler, 9 years back, I was introduced about these two coins in their platform. Litecoin was already many traders favourite at that time, but Dogecoin gained popularity only after Elon Musk’s interfere in that. If you ask me, then I would always go with Litecoin. The reason is pretty simple. The marketcap and popularity is more than compared to Dogecoin. Moreover it has gained reputation of its own, hence more people will show more trust on it.

I like litecoin, but can't rule out Doge coin. Both coins are decentralized. Litecoin big coin and Doge coin meme coin. Doge coin can be purchased by small retail investors with a small investment. But Litecoin may not get good profit with small investment. And Doge coin is promoted by elom, it may be possible to start payment at any time. I think both are best.

I've never been on Litecoin although for Doge we can't deny that almost everyone has been there but it's not a wise choice either when choosing on Doge for now :D

Everyone must have experienced Doge because at the end of the day if anyone has been here since a few years ago where Doge was before what it is now almost everyone has been at the point where they have Doge but for now this is definitely not an option.
Even if it's in trading I don't really care because I don't do trading and only focus on investing and for other people I actually wouldn't recommend this and because in the end everything remains the same because Doge right now with the power of several influencers behind including Elon they are a meme coin that only relies on Pump and Dump nothing else especially for Investment this is clearly not recommended because in the end this will only make your money burn, but indeed in the end this is just a suggestion not to impose a will when there are other people who want it to be a trading or investment tool then it is their will to do so.

considering the current state of doge coin which is already elevated its value into humongous value and market capitalization, I would think that the return potential will be the same as litecoin, after all doge right now also need not some measly amount to invest if you truly want to make profit, I don't think doge could ever make 500% increase as easy as before, right now its always just some 20% increase after elon shill really different compared to back then therefore the potential of doge coin rising also reduced I guess.
moreover, the fact that both litecoin and doge coin haven't been rising for sometime should be a concern honestly.
after all if someone is looking for altcoin for the sake of faster return, then I guess they got wrong with investing in these both coins, they have reached their peak and maybe will not have any stunt.

I prefer Litecoin rather than Dogecoin, because Dogecoin was originally created just for meme coin, so that's what makes me not interested to investing in Dogecoin and prefer Litecoin, because I think meme coin is an investment that has a big risk, but if I could choose an old coin that I like to invest in, then I would definitely still choose Ethereum, because Ethereum is a worthy investment for the long term.

It's very unfortunate to see crypto heading into the wrong direction. What was once driven by utility, is now driven by hype/speculation. This situation diminishes innovation, as developers won't care about anything else other than making a quick buck out of investors' own pockets. You can see why Dogecoin's resurgence in popularity brought a wave of worthless "meme" coins into the market. Such coins often have more attention than Litecoin or even Bitcoin itself.

Despite this, I believe there's always a place for Dogecoin due to its inexpensiveness and blazing-fast settlement times. For serious transactions, you can use Litecoin as an alternative to Bitcoin. For micropayments, tipping, or even gambling, Dogecoin is a much better option. If the aforementioned coins stay decentralized, they should be able to last for generations. Just buy, "hodl", and forget about the rest. ;D

We cannot deny that the utility of these altcoins is often ignored because of the tendency of investors to only take advantage of profit opportunities from their price volatility. Of course Litecoin is one worth considering as an alternative to bitcoin - but both altcoin are fine to use for the same purpose.

To be honest, I haven't used these two altcoins as a means of payment so far - in fact I'm not sure this altcoin deserve to be included in my investment portfolio and take 10% of the place there compared to bitcoin. I'm happy to diversify - but my current focus is all about bitcoin.

In my opinion, fiat is to blame for everything, as usual. Cryptocurrency was created as a means of payment and an alternative to conventional money, but what happened is that cryptocurrencies are not used as an alternative to fiat, they are used to exchange it for fiat. The crypto community itself is to blame for the fact that they started to interact with fiat more and more, thus attracting the attention of regulators more and more. Cryptocurrency has a phenomenal idea and concept, but people are not yet able to fully appreciate it.

Between the two i prefer litecoin, even if it is a little slower in transactions i see it as more stable in value on the market dogecoin Is more like a memecoin with unpredictable changes in value

Despite all the previous issues Litecoin once experienced, I will always pick Liecoin over Dogecoin which is a meme coin and according to what I have read meme coin is the playing ground of whales now since they didn't want to lose their Bitcoin bag.

I prefer doge, because Elon Musk pumps it lol
Hahaha at least you said the right word about Dogecoin being played by this
Billionaire , if he wanted to Pump Dogecoin is it easy for those who kept having this to earn but the thing
is when will it be? the net bull run or will never?
Litecoin on the other hand as a former top 3 coins , have now losing its support
because of the past dues ,  but if I am to choose about these 2, of course it is Litecoin that I will choose.

We have the same stand as for us who have seen how Meme coins being manipulated
it is really hard to trust this because chances of being dead in the future is there , while at least litecoin maintained
its higher value comparing to the first one.

The idea that "dogecoin is backed by Elon Musk" is the most wrongful thing that I have ever seen on this forum and that is saying a lot. It's not a coin that is backed by Elon Musk, the idea of "being backed" isn't what you think it is, just tweeted about it a few times years ago is not meaning that he backs it, or even owns it, he may have sold every single one of them at this point.

Litecoin is good because it's a decent project that keeps trying to be better all the time, and it keeps improving its code and features as well, doge coin was used because Elon tweeted about it. Tell me which one sounds like a good reason to buy a coin? I mean if you say you rather buy and hold something until Elon tweets about it, good luck to you.

Many people who arent very knowledgeable about cryptocurrencies think that "Elon Musk supports Dogecoin." Not everything that a famous person says or supports is actually valuable. Despite how powerful Elon's tweets are, they dont change the basic ideas behind cryptocurrencies. Tech, teamwork, and usefulness are what its all about, right?

We are now talking about Litecoin, a coin that is always trying to get better and fit new situations. Continuous code changes and feature improvements show that it is committed and dedicated. In sharp contrast, this is how Dogecoin became famous for a short time thanks to a few tweets. using short-term endorsements as a basis for business decisions instead of solid technological advances? Playing that game is risky. Any way someone decides, though, is their own business. As the saying goes, everyone's financial journey is different.

Both good use-cases but we know that when it comes to excitement and enthusiasm I think it is Dogecoin that can win the game...with the usual support of no other than Mr. Elon Musk, of course, who is always on the news. Now, having said that, I would not kick Litecoin down the road as it too got a big potential to soar especially in the coming bullish 2024. So. why not just choose the two...with maybe Dogecoin taking up 60% of the total allocation and then Litecoin getting 40% of the share. I am hoping that holders of both coins will be smiling in 2024 all the way to the bank.

That's certainly true, mate. It has always been about the money. Not about believing in cryptocurrency's underlying tech to change our world for the better (by eliminating the middleman). If people began using crypto as an alternative to Fiat, things would've been different now. Banks would no longer be relevant, as the majority will switch to the decentralized economy. Unfortunately, this is only be a pipe dream. That's because both banks and governments won't allow decentralized cryptocurrencies to take over the world. Otherwise, they will lose power/control over people's financial lives.

Considering that people only care about making money with crypto, we should expect "meme" coins to rise like there's no tomorrow. The rest will go all the way down the drain in an instant (except BTC, ETH, and LTC). I'd say Litecoin is a very undervalued coin, especially when it has a limited supply of only 84m units. It's fast, cheap, and private (with the optional Mimblewimble privacy feature). Best of all, its blockchain network is decentralized and censorship-resistant. LTC is tried-and-tested, unlike many newcomers on the market today. Who knows if it lives alongside BTC for generations? Just my opinion :)

Although I understand your point, I'm going to disagree. Personally, I don't see any usage or a real purpose for Dogecoin; it was created as a meme coin and nothing more. Litecoin, on the other hand, is one of the first altcoins ever created, derived from Bitcoin's source code. How can I ignore something so fundamental and prefer Dogecoin? After all, it's a meme coin, and the only usage it can actually serve is for gambling. I can't seem to think of anything else. I might be wrong, but that's just my opinion. I respect Litecoin for what it is, but unfortunately, I cannot have a similar opinion for a coin that was created just for a meme.
