Besides it is their business and in business there is no friendship in it.
However, I too my loan was cleared and I noticed it this afternoon when I was seeing some jubilation stuffs in my social media page, firstly I didn't believe it untill I checked my airtime balance, I also read am article that's says after sometimes MTN will readjust everything the way it was.

Na people wey use their lines borrow airtime and data from MTN and you know say whenever you try to check your account balance, dem go show you [(-) the amount wey you dey owe]. So today, when people dey check their airtime balances, those outstanding debts no dey show again, na hin people come dey happy say MTN don clear their debts. But the thing wey dey be say, na network glitch according to the message wey MTN release for their social media platforms.

Thanks for dis update about how you reason say di matter be on why mtn clear dem customers recharge dept. Di OP no tell us di kind loan or give us details about how dem take clear di loan, whether na recharge card loan, bank loan or mtn agents just enter dem area de meet everybody de ask dem who dem de indepted to, and clear di dept. Abeg e de very important to at least try to de give more details about events wey we wan take start topic, so people go get idea of wetin dem de talk about to know how dem wan take chuk mouth for di matter.

What MTN did is good because their sometimes when you recharge and MTN will  deduct you what is not good, and I don't think their service in nigeria is paying any tax, they are tax free because we nigeria need their network, why if we are the one that own MTN mask in South Africa it would have stop working because South Africa will ask us to pay a tax we can not be able to pay and when we pay the tax we will not make profit.

So what I'm saying in nutshell is that MTN supposed to reduce their charges in their network even in data and in normal calls I don't think that they deserve to be charging Nigerian the way they charged us,  do you know that global network is better than MTN network in terms of minimising charges both in calls, they paid those things theirs something they noticed maybe their is no trafficking in their network and they want to win their customers back by clearing their debt

I would say that what MTN did during this period when Nigerians are facing economic hardship is indeed a good one, even though they have sucked the nation so much with their exorbitant charges on Data and calls, still they have a means of gaining this back, ever since yesterday some that don't use MTN line will try to go get one as a result of this debt forgiveness, I think on other hand, it also a marketing or business strategy for them to further gain the hearts of people that are not yet MTN subscribers.

Normally, naija pple and free things na 5&6. So many stories behind the whole thing sha buh network glitch or not abi na sponsorship, Dem been incur extra debt. E dey sad because the debt wey Dem pay back was about 1Trillion and under 7hrs, dem incur an extra 600billion additional debt.
   Well whatsoever the cause may be sha, congratulations to those wey borrow again and sorry to those wey been dey patient and wait till later but couldn't borrow. Make mtn try resolve their glitch issues and also install proactive measures to prevent cyber attacks on their systems because that also can be a cause of the sudden debt payment. It's done already, prevention against idiots repetition should be implemented.

MTN said its a glitch, lol. Its very possible their database was hacked either by an internal person or an external person with link to an inside man. They may have incurred considerable loses, even more than we noticed, this clearing of debts in the database might just be a coverup by the hacker and a distraction to them, it didn't happen for everybody though. I'm pretty sure there's much more to the said "glitch". If they're able to properly recover the database and get accurate figures reflecting in user balances, I'll really applaud their programmers cos this shows they have good work ethics and do regular database backups. I'm watching with fingers crossed on how the whole thing would pull through.

This is very funny I swear, infact, I dey roll for floor with laughter like this, reason being say, I dey owe this mtn people 1800 naira plus small change wey dey on top, e don dey go like one month wey I dey owe them this money and I no won pay, i switch begin use my airtel for browsing and calls, on the 11th wey I hear say they Don wipe people dept, I con check my balance con see say my dept no again, I happy but I know say mtn no dey give person free gift, this na network wey I don dey use since 2007 or so, i know say mtn no fit do this kind thing.

The dept way we dey owe MTN done come back to us,, e no choke me because as that stuff happen, I go browse about am to know what's up.  So I con see am say nah manfuction from their system, so I just chill to know what's up but now my dept done come back to me.

I have resolved not to borrow money from MTN ever again. Regardless of who I want to call, I will wait to buy a recharge card before making any calls. I was taken aback to learn that the debt had been cleared, but I knew it was likely the result of a bug or other circumstance. I owed about 1700 at the time and was unable to make any calls until I paid the amount owed. A lot of people were happy and even added to their debt, everyone was happy but the happiness was not for long because I heard they have returned the dept back the best does that are owing should start paying gradually to reduce the amount i was just to sure that mtn will not want to let that amount go.

And they've even returned everyone's money owed, so it's obvious they have no choice but to pay their debt. Does that make them happy about the whole thing, or has happiness been reduced to having to pay? The balances have accurately reflected on my Sim and I believe in most people's account balances. This is a demonstration of proper work ethics by MTN programmers.
