Title: Why is there so much interest in popular cryptocurrencies?
Post by: Adigvcdh on November 17, 2023, 08:08:01 PM
Why does the cryptocurrency world focus so much on highly capitalized projects, to the detriment of more promising and lesser-known ones?

Perhaps one reason is inertia - to stay with recognized, established projects instead of taking risks with young ideas. However, even with a low profile, projects like Cogitex, for example, can provide openness and transparency in their every action, which is often not enough in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Cogitex represents an innovative approach to artificial intelligence and space exploration, promising to break new ground. The question is how much the community is willing to pay attention to such projects, despite their current status.

What is more important to you in the world of cryptocurrencies - their prominence or their potential to make a real impact on the industry?

Why does the cryptocurrency world focus so much on highly capitalized projects, to the detriment of more promising and lesser-known ones?

Have you ever wanted to buy a product and all you could do is to go for a reputable one that have record of past consistencies and trust, such that have an effective organizational structure and realizable plan, you wouldn't want to see something below standard and have interest in using such, this is just a simple application of the various cryptocurrencies we have, some projects are good some are not, but when we research, we know which to go for.

What is more important to you in the world of cryptocurrencies - their prominence or their potential to make a real impact on the industry?

I will go with their prominence, because they have a good intention of past record activities progress, .not by what they say, but what we can see in them.

Major reasons why the bigger established coins like Bitcoin have dominated and become a major propeller of the market is because they have already built a lot of market repetition reputations and also gained a lot of investor trust to become the long-term assets which have made it markets to be high value to very high and less volatile which make it becoming a long term asset.

On like the smaller projects that have no track record and are based on hypes this can be best taken for shirt terms speculations alone since most times their market depends solely on the market of the other bigger coins,  and that is the reason why sometimes you see that whenever there is Bitcoin bull market other smaller coins also follow the trend.

Just the way people go for a popular none crypto brand. Anything product that became popular is because people agree with the product and give their support and it automatically becomes attractive to more people. If the product was bad it will not be popular and attractive to new investors.
The reason why in crypto long-term players will only recommend popular and trusted projects to new members. Nobody will recommend an unknown project in most cases.

The popular coins are more advisable compare to the new project or unknown project, its either because of hype or the project really deserve the recognition. Investing on a good project are more advisable though since not all popular coin are ok to buy, sometimes its also about your timing that can make you more profitable. Most of the popular cryptocurrency are already in the top list, you just have to choose the best and make profit out of it.

Look, I don't think this is really about capitalization of the project.

It's more about what your project could actually accomplish and whether its sustainable and  do you really believe people are dumb enough to throw cash at something that seems gimmicky like that Cogitex shit? AI and space travel, huh? I bet you want to make robots and ship them off to Mars or something, right? C'mon even a kindergartner could probably come up with a better concept than that!

Stop underestimating people's intelligence!

Why does the cryptocurrency world focus so much on highly capitalized projects, to the detriment of more promising and lesser-known ones?

I guess they are already established in the first place and so people doesn't want to break anything, not that it's been broken. So altcoins in the top 10 could be a good investment for them.

Don't get me wrong here, it's obvious that you are shilling for this project, it might affect them negatively and backfire as investors might see this kind of shilling very negative to be honest. If the project is what you say it is, then investors are going to flock and invest their money. But if this is just a way to shill and then they found out that this project has nothing to offer, no innovative approach, then they won't even put a sat on it, just saying.

What is more important to you in the world of cryptocurrencies - their prominence or their potential to make a real impact on the industry?

Doesn't matter though, again if you think that your project can make an impact because it is unique then it will be known to crypto industry. But if it is just like a copy cat of previous project, definitely we will go with the original one, just saying.

It has to be unique like Bitcoin or Ethereum or any other projects in the altcoin crypto sphere.

Yeah definitely no body will spend money on inrelivant things. The primary motive of every investor is to make profit. No body love to invest where he or she Will loose

Bitcoin has proven against all odds that it's worthy of investment. Judging from market cap, total in supply, scarcity market dominance and 4 years for each halving. So there is always a promising future in bitcoin. So it has all what needs to be invested on. Morover bitcoin has what other altcoin don't have or probably vise versa.

I mean, you already said the reason? Popularity = interest. Interest in the first place stems from the inherent capability of a project to be, well, interesting. It doesn't really matter most of the time how, it just has to be interesting. Popularity then just snowballs into it. The more interest you have, the more popular you are and said popularity, once grown to a big enough amount, just grows and snowballs by itself.

And the market isn't really anything about "impactful" really, it's mostly which projects can stand out the most. Investors then invest, no matter how bad the project is. The important thing is they can make money off of it. It's not like investors are only long-term ones, a lot of others just buy the coin for a day, sell the next. A perfect example is meme coins.

In the world of cryptocurrencies big projects get a lot of attention because they have a lot of money. These projects have much stability which attracts investors and users. But there are some small projects too which starts with low but with the passage of time them become worthy.

People remain stable on well known projects we should think about the transparency that projects like Cogitex have or bring.
When we think about how important cryptocurrencies are we need to find a balance between how well known they are and how they are impacting or can impact. Established projects may be more famous but thing is that how they are performing and which idea they are establishing in cryptocurrency world.By paying attention to promising but less known projects like Cogitex we can  make positive changes in the cryptocurrency world.

Because of risk ratio. Yes they prefer a legit one or more bigger names on crypto if they wanna shelter out big funds like bitcoin and eth and many more. If you are big investors youll dwell with lots of factor and they want to eliminate potential risk to other coins which could be a scam or what. Perhaps some really wanted or enjoy benefitting new projects but its up to someone decision as always.

COGITEX is a project that also has better development plans.  But how can users believe in this project, when if you look at the official Telegram channel it is only occupied by a few people.  Therefore, it is not easy to create a project that is truly in accordance with the wishes of the community.  because we need funds and a solid team to achieve this goal

There are more talked about (it's circle — if you become popular, popularity feeds itself), they have more presence, they can get more known through word of mouth (I tell my friend why he should stick with Bitcoin), if you check coin tracking sites they are first to appear (what you see gets etched in your mind), they have partnerships with other known projects so they get bit of promotion here as well.

Regarding your comparison with lesser known ones, even popular ones of today were lesser known ones in past. It's only fair.

Perhaps one reason is inertia - to stay with recognized, established projects instead of taking risks with young ideas.

It's not inertia c'mon, it's risk appetite. Those who have risk appetite they gamble their funds with lesser known cryptos, others stick with popular ones. Risking with lesser known ones gives huge profits when it works out, otherwise you just lose your funds  :P

because the new coins means long roadmap to cover. theyre risky too and if the new project worked, the investors can still invest anyway. with the popular projects, they can be sure it will have a good price and less time waiting.

in a sense, a project that has use case to make the industry grow will be ideal investment but investors losing money isnt ideal.

new projects launching in the bull market will be good though. sure it will be attract investors with BTC to spare.

Investors are looking for profit in price in a short time instead of gaining value in a long time, so they bet on any currency that pumps significantly, and since cryptocurrencies are ranked in importance according to market capacity, manipulating supply and demand means that you may create billions of market capacity in a short time in the millions. Dollars.
Therefore, you find investors more interested in the offer and its consequences of distributions for burning what the developers own than the developers and the future vision of the project.

Many cryptocurrency users will choose good and safe coins, it is not surprising to me that people will spend their money to invest in good projects. And many people before investing in a project will look at the website, whitepiper, the project team and so on. Only people are careless if they invest in a project that is haphazard.

You won't want to see something below standard! I like that statement and that's more reason we are always told to do research on these coins, check their road map and the type of community they keep.

This reminds me of SOL over and over again. After its massive fall from that FUD down to $8. Sol has a great community that supports it primed with the team, they keep building regardless of the situation. Now look at them trading well like there was never a problem and currently ready to give to its society by airdropping various wallets

The capacity of cryptocurrencies to really affect different businesses is what gives them their genuine worth. Enhancing transparency, promoting financial inclusion, enabling quicker and less expensive cross-border transactions, and offering financial services to the unbanked are some examples of this influence. Supply chain management, healthcare, and other industries might undergo radical changes thanks to technologies like blockchain, which is the foundation of many cryptocurrencies.

we’re dealing with money here i can’t afford to just throw away money in new and promising projects just for it to fail although it will generate huge profit i just can’t do it right now this applies to everything people tend to gravitate towards names that has been fool-proofed and is well-respected

maybe some time in the future i am able to spot a young and promising project that i will able to nurture and watch grow

You got it completely backwards, if there was as much focus on the best coins in the market as you claim we will not have the thousands of coins that we have on the market already, and meme coins and NFTs will get no attention at all, but what we see is the opposite, so there is a lot of people out there that are trying to invest early on all kind of projects trying to make it big and obtain massive profits as a result of investing early in a project with a low market cap.

Successful coins have already gain the curiosity of people all over the world therefore people  often choose them whereas all new crypto has no guarantee that whether they will be profitable in future or not. Bitcoin is one of the most successful coin in crypto world and from so many years it proved that it decrease price is just an opportunity for buyer which ends soon.

famous coins if reduces in price then its holders just wait because they know that soon it will go higher but if new coins goes down then its holders are in worry and doubt that whether they will go up or will remain same always.

People often use bitcoin for longer term because of small volatility as compared to other coins and also people have seen a successful event about bitcoin that have most positive impact on crypto users. Other coins are totally dependent on bitcoin so it cannot be possible that if bitcoin goes down then other coins will remains in a higher value but with decrease in Bitcoin's price the overall market goes down.

If it really has potential then it will grow no matter what, so at that point, people will invest.

Most of the investor aren't dev and most of them don't care about the technology. They are here for profit and they have invested in a project that means they think the service it will provide has customer which can extract profit from it. This will help the project and their token of share as well. Most of the people wants to do it in a well established project and that's why we have seen major alts has larger community than the smaller one because it is less risky than the young one.

Popular cryptos are always in demand. Hence we know that when the demand is high and supply is less or limited, in order to fulfil the demand, the price goes up. Hence people shows more interest in these types of coin. Moreover these popular coins have large marketcap and big trading volume, so it ensures the traders that they won’t make big losses. Hence they buy these coins.

I would breakdown my answer into two parts:

1. Reputation and tested:
Established coins like Bitcoin has been tested on numerous occasions with whales cashing, government calling to ban Bitcoin, Restrictions on usage and trading in selected countries but still Bitcoin is there in the market for over an decade despite facing all these challenges and bear markets and sort of gained the reputation as most trusted coin and it has the power to swing the market as per it's price. If Bitcoin goes down then entire crypto goes down and if Bitcoin pump then the rippling effect is felt across all the altcoins.

2. Project roadmap and white paper matters:
Regardless of its a small project or big but people will be interested into it only if it has promising features and if it's solving the burning issue of current time as well as how their development is progressing. If a project is already involved in real life services and if it shares their work then definitely it will have user base and investment will flow to them as work needs to happen on ground instead of just mentioning in website or whitepaper but this rarely happens a most of the new project fails to convert their roadmap into reality.

I can said two reason like best safety and good profits way in popular cryptocurrency. You may know btc, eth, bnb, ada, arb and many popular altcoins which is biggest project. There has many development where investors can make profits even there’s very long trem project in the crypto market. Once you can analyze there volume, marketcap, investors community.

Why does the cryptocurrency world focus so much on highly capitalized projects, to the detriment of more promising and lesser-known ones?

Because being highly capitalized means the cryptocurrency has the fund to make their roadmap happen.  In terms of market trading, they have the liquidity to ensure that the cryptocurrency won't collpase overnight if someone with huge stash of coins dump to sell.  It is more on the stability of the market.

While projects that looks promising but does not have fund to pursue its roadmap is the same as failed project.

What is more important to you in the world of cryptocurrencies - their prominence or their potential to make a real impact on the industry?

Both are important but way beyond that is the fund to support the realization of the project or goal.

Unless the new project is promoted by a celebrity, there will ba investors going for it. Theres been few but still turnout to be a scam. So just to stay in the safest investment, its best to just be on BTC and popular projects. You can't go wrong with it especially if the investor is up for long term.

The industry's capacity to innovate and absorb innovative technology may be hampered if it relies entirely on the previous performance of existing currencies.

I think there potential to make a real impact on the industry. Crypto currency has created potential inpact on humanity entirely. Starting from when bitcoin was created. Nobody believe in the future of bitcoin when it was created. Not until the price skyrocketed in the late 2016 - 2020. People started seeing the value and started investing on it. Many who baught at early days of bitcoin made alot from it now it has been adopted and ita dominance is about %50 so that is to tell you how it's potential is.

Old and known projects attract more attention than new projects because it was proven and tested already not only on their profit potential but also, on their use case. These projects have already established a reputation but never think it comes too easy and just like the project that you have mentioned -Cogitex, it needs more time to build such reputation and trust. People are smart already and yes, very practical in choosing an investment but the said project continues to show how good it was, it never takes so long to be recognized.

Why does the cryptocurrency world focus so much on highly capitalized projects, to the detriment of more promising and lesser-known ones?
More and more people or parties are interested in cryptocurrency because of course crypto business really provides benefits in several ways. especially when we talk about money, everyone is definitely interested, right? Meanwhile crypto business is considered to be one of the most promising business fields at the moment, both for developers, traders, investors and other parties. So that day by day more and more people are interested in cryptocurrency. And this is also the reason why many scammers are interested in being here because it might be easy for them to get money in crypto from their victims.

Cogitex represents an innovative approach to artificial intelligence and space exploration, promising to break new ground. The question is how much the community is willing to pay attention to such projects, despite their current status.
I'm not quite sure about this platform. because currently there are more and more new platforms that are always offering their various positive brands or various advantages that they say are promising, but not necessarily actually realized. So, whatever that is, we must first understand what Cogitex is and also how it relates to what we want to get. Don't let us believe too much, do a long analysis here before actually using it. Maybe it is good and reputable platform, but  of course we must be more careful of anything.

You already said the answer to your question. It is because they are popular. And being popular can mean that they offer something great. I'm referring to the old projects here, because a new project can also attain a temporary hype. There are still some who has a potential and can sustain their momentum. We can also consider projects like this. Anyway OP, is Cogitex your own project?

I think its only chance to stand out among the crowd is that "Space Exploration" thing. But I know that this won't came into reality if without the support of the people first, because Space Exploration is not a joke. It requires good amount of money. You need to try your best to convince the people more to trust your project. Good Luck !!

One of the reasons why cryptocurrency has become popular is that it has proven its credibility with people. People are benefiting a lot through this and will continue to do so. Its promotion will gradually go to the point where people will know a lot about cryptocurrencies and start investing here.

Its because popular cryptocurrencies establish their own reputation that's why majority of investors have confidence that they will not rug pull by those established project. Unlike those  new ideas where people is not totally sure if there planned technology offered to people will really happen since commonly what happen to them is if they already accumulate millions of dollars in funds thru presale then usually they will not care about the whole thing and think about let their project die naturally by listing it on small exchange.

That's why many can't take the risk investing on new project since scamming is usually happen and its hard for new investor to fall on that traps since they would provably take time to recover since its hard for them to decide if they trust another project or not. So if they are new much recommended to anyone to go first on reputable crypto since it could give them more better results.

I believe because on new projects, even if promising, there is the uncertainty of a possible profit, whereas with a project that has large trading volumes on the exchanges it is easier to trade

You are aware of track records of the highly capitalized project with their experience developers and based on the past history of the price action of those coins they would forever be investors choice for instance Bitcoin, Ethereum etc has a record of repetitive price history i.e for every bearish season irrespective how dip it price dump to that is usually the most appropriate period to buy and accumulate using DCA because there would come a period when it price would pump massive thus this is repetitive done like a cycle thus investors would take profit at the peak price unlike investment in a relatively unknown project whose future outlook is not feasible though there are one or two of those less popular coin that pump occasionally.

Established cryptocurrencies have a reputation that inspires confidence among investors, making them less susceptible to scams where developers abandon projects after raising funds. New cryptocurrencies with a lack of a solid track record face a greater risk of failing or being abandoned by their creators. While new cryptocurrencies can present exciting opportunities, they also carry inherent risks. Investors should carefully evaluate the risks and potential rewards before investing in new cryptocurrency projects.

Established cryptocurrencies have earned their reputation and investor confidence through time, community support, and transparency. New cryptocurrencies, on the other hand, face greater scrutiny and skepticism due to their lack of a proven track record and potential for scams. Investors should approach new projects with caution and conduct thorough research before investing.

I totally agree. OP put it down to inertia, but I think the reputation of a project says it all. If I had to choose btwn a big name like Bitget and a new CEX startup, the choice would obviously be BGB. Their established track record even among top dogs in the industry is enough to put my mind at ease. But with new startups, I'd constantly have to live in fear of getting rugged any moment, even if the team is doxxed or whatever.

Why won't they? Interest to put it simply is associated with demand. And it just so happened that popular coins are ones which generates most profit in comparison with ones being not popular at all which are now called 'dead coin'. Indeed with 'dead coin' you will be able to purchase an amount to be held for a long period of time however given that interests in these type of coins are low, this could be examples of coins we should avoid to atleast lessen your worries as an investor. Investing with less active coins are seems to be digging your own grave to investments. Then with this ideology, a domino effect triggers after a huge dump making it hard for the 'bike' to recover.Popular coins are most of the time early coins in this industry wherein there are already communities of their kind.

What if not and you are investing in this project and lose? At least investing in known altcoins gives them some assurance that it will never turn into a scam project but these new projects even though they have the potential are likely to turn into a scam. That is why, they've preferred to take risks in old altcoins rather than taking risks in these new altcoins, and aside from that, they don't have problems with these old coins which would really matter a lot if you are investing.

I hope your purpose in creating this thread is to exchange opinions, not to promote a particular project.
The crypto community focuses more on projects with capital or projects with large amounts of funding because they are more confident that the future of these projects is brighter than projects with smaller capital. The large amount of funding collected also indicates that the project also has many large investors and this further increases public confidence. This is a fact that is happening now, competition in the crypto world is getting tighter and projects that are unable to compete will be abandoned.

we’re dealing with money here i can’t afford to just throw away money in new and promising projects just for it to fail although it will generate huge profit i just can’t do it right now this applies to everything people tend to gravitate towards names that has been fool-proofed and is well-respected

maybe some time in the future i am able to spot a young and promising project that i will able to nurture and watch grow
You are pretty much correct, that we are looking out to make profit, we should not allow our emotion to control us to make a wrong decision. Crypto currency could be profitable but in other words could also be dangerous when not taken proactive messures. When investing, one should always check out for Crypto currency that has the substance that is Worth purchasing for. Otherwise you get fucked up due to hype of popularity. Morover most popular coin on cmc which are top gainers always end up becoming top lesser. That is to say there is no good thing that come so easy time matters alot in whatever thing we do. Sometimes we judge a project by how long it has exited and it's success so far before adventuring into it. In other for us not to end up buying junks.

I'm also surprised and I often see people willing to buy up to 2 BNB for new tokens, and we see a lot from the campaigns that I'm part of too. even though the project was just launched in the Bounties (Altcoins) thread.

For those who take risks on old coins, I think it's natural because some of them already know the origin, performance and future potential. so it's natural.

Even if there is little doubt that the amount of money behind a project shows in a way the seriousness and the support behind it, at the same time it is not everything, as we have seen many coins over the years which had fantastical backing collapse as what was behind all of that money was not solid enough to guarantee the profits investors expected out of the project, and as soon as this was found out investors decided to abandon the coin and a huge crash becomes inevitable at that point.

For new projects it will be easy to see a lot of user enthusiasm too and perhaps the simple answer is that everyone wants profits. If you ask about the potential, of course it's definitely different. Yes. Trading volume has an effect too and that's something you need to pay attention to like you say.

In every industry investors will want to put there money in products that they're near 100% sure that they'll make profit, so cryptocurrency is no exception. You'll want to go for a crypto coin that guarantees minimal risk, that you're sure that when the right season for harvest comes, you'll be sure of having your ROI. Instead of a crypto coin that you're not sure if it'll survive to see the next day. It all depends on investors goals, whether they're into taking high risks for high profits, then they can gamble on new altcoins, because you'll never really know the ones that'll be profitable and remain relevant for you to get your ROI. With bitcoin and top altcoins, you wouldn't have to worry if they will still be in the market for the next bull run, you go to sleep and wake up happy, because you know that your crypto can not turned to shitcoin.

What is more important to you in the world of cryptocurrencies - their prominence or their potential to make a real impact on the industry?
Because they are highly recognized, highly advertised by large communities. Small caps get their attention too but it divides and distributes among many of them. If one small marketcap coin would get same amount of attention as one high marketcap coin, it wouldn't be low in marketcap value for a long time. Also from what i gather, many newcomers don't really understand what market capitalization is. They just see the list of "top" coins and think they are ranked in some sort of "best altcoin" category. So they pick some of the top 10. And since there are ton of community behind them, there will be enough shillers to convert more "believers".

What's important to me has changed over time. These days it's the team behind the coin or token. I need to have faith that i won't get rugged overnight, so it's easier for me to keep my money in those bags.

In the cryptocurrency world, the focus on highly capitalized projects is often due to their sustainability and wider acceptance. Investors, especially those just starting their journey into cryptocurrencies, may feel more confident in investing in projects with large market capital and widespread publicity, as there are fewer risks involved.
However, as you noted, inertia and preference for established projects can sometimes lead to the loss of lesser-known but promising and innovative ideas. Projects such as Cogitex, which offer innovative approaches and solutions in the field of artificial intelligence and space exploration, can truly make a significant contribution to the industry.

At first... Who do not prefer going for the best and top notch, why would you prefer something lesser, and with more risk associated with it, than something which you can invest into and have a good nice sleep with both eyes closed.
Popular cryptocurrencies are the best to invest if you are afraid of loosing your hard earned money, and if you are capable of managing and bearing the risk involved in this new altcoins with little or no potential then it is left for you to decide. As many would not want to risk it, same with. I had my experience with it and would not want it to reoccur for another time not when things are beginig to head in a good way then loosing my money, no I wouldn't.
You absolutely have to do your own research(DYOR) and know what is best for you before indulging in it

potential is all what it is until it actually makes an impact potential is not guarantee that you will earn profit since we are dealing with money it’s important to note that people would opt to invest in something they think is ‘fool-proof’

thinking about it, if you are going in to a restaurant would you rather just order the menu you know you like or risk wasting your money on something new?

Why does the cryptocurrency world focus so much on highly capitalized projects, to the detriment of more promising and lesser-known ones?

Because it matters a lot to us, investors.
Buy cheap coins or shitcoins then you can see the answer to why people are buying known and reputable projects. In fact, nobody buys a certain product that we're unsure of its results and profit gains. Nobody will invest in a scam project knowing that they will just lose their money. Since we have the option of buying top coins in the market, why not? It doesn't matter if the price is high but what is important is that we are expecting a profit to get from investing these coins, not losses.

In the short term, "proven and tested".

But how about the pump-and-dump coins/tokens, usually they are new and will create hype for anyone.
I saw a lot of people willing to take a risk on meme coins or even in a shitcoin that will create hype upon launching.

People must understand how to manage risk on investing in the short term, those coins that already gained a reputation.  though the progress and potential of gaining profit don't have a time frame but at least there's a guarantee that it will not become a shitcoins in the future.

For the fact that many of the popular crypto projects are being in the market for long and they can not easy crash like that just like many new projects we have seen that has no good management team that could work hard enough to send the project to the moon.
So many factors we need to be considering when we are investing in cryptocurrency and we should not only look out for old project but also new projects that would give us a maximum profit and increase our taste for similar projects.

I think the main reason for so much interest in popular cryptocurrencies is the search for maximum return on investment. For example, among the popular currencies Bitcoin and Ethereum have increased in value over the years and people are investing more in these coins. Many investors are attracted to alt coins, including Bitcoin, because of their potential for high returns. Alt coins like Ethereum, Solana, and BNB are among the most popular currencies after Bitcoin and remain in the list of favorites and market stability. Overall, the combination of high demand, limited supply, strong marketcap, trading volume, community support, development team and widespread adoption of these coins makes popular cryptos a sought-after investment and a valuable asset in the digital economy.

Longevity, trust, amount of profit you can make, reputation etc is the main key point for a project to become successful. When people are choosing something in the crypto market, they always look for those. You cannot trust something that has popped up yesterday and has no record or history of any kind. You can never decide or be sure what the future holds for this kind of project. People will most likely lean towards those who have been in the industry for a long time. Even if the profit margin is low, if the longevity is there, they can make sure that the profit will be more in the long run.

No risk no gain. It is true but there aren't many people who will be willing to take that risk. Even if the project is underdog, it takes time to become one. Show me proof and history that it has the potential to grow in the future and maybe, maybe then I will consider choosing it. But the probability will still stay low.

Relying only on old project is worst thinking. All projects which are know old tokens was new projects at the start and people start investing from the beginning and now their profit is very high as compared to those who thinking that investing today will give them any profit. Why not despite relying on old project just do well research on nee projects and check their partnerships , backups, tokenomics and roadmap. The new listed project Ace,Arb,OP and Myria could bring more profit as the new crypto trend demanding such kind of project to be active in crypto space. We should always look for opportunity.

The difference is in terms of stability. Most popular capitalized projects already have a solid foundation and backing by many players in the crypto industry. Some even have other projects built using their blockchain. It's not difficult to see why most investors would rather put their money in popular crypto coins than the newer altcoins. During the bear market when the prices of these capitalized coins go down, the investors are always confident that when the bull run comes back, the price will go back up and possibly attain a new all time high. Same cannot be said for new coins as the risks are many and most of them do not get back up when the prices are up after a bear market.

The reason why there is so much interest in popular cryptocurrencies is because they have been tested and trusted and you know they won't rug you, most of these new tokens you don't know them, especially their developers because most of them are anonymous, so the risk of them scamming you is huge, but a project that has delivered part of its roadmap, you know the technical capacity of the team and if they will deliver or not

even the governments today are interested in BTC but along with it is also the USDT. these two belong together if you are up to accumulating BTC. and the maxis are also going only for BTC. but if you compare it to the altcoins where you can own billions of them, you can make more money out of those memecoins than just sticking to only BTC.

it's risky but it's worth it if you invested the first. SHIB for example if you have invested in it from its lowest price in mid-2023, you could have multiplied 2x already. i think it was less risky since Shib is popular too. the ones not popular such as above 100 of CMC, you may not want to get involved with.

new coin is always high risk high return, popular coin is always honestly good for investment because if it dumps we almost always know the fact that it will just recover back and thats it.
moreover the trading volume good for people with big money to make some move, so its not very obvious that it disturb the market. moreover they also have volatility thats more or less the same as the newer coin anyway aside from if compared with new coin initial listing which gonna have so high volatility it might go up ten thousand percent or go down ten thousand percent.
so I guess thats why popular coin seem like having so much interest because there are many people with big money are interested in taking advantage of the volatility of these coin.
even with the fact that institutional investors are trying hard to invest some of their assets diversifying into some of the cryptocurrency popular coin its no wonder that these coin are so sought after.
not to mention with the presence of popular way of staking coin for long term like for example is ethereum.

What is more important to you in the world of cryptocurrencies - their prominence or their potential to make a real impact on the industry?
Real impact on the industry is always the most important factor when choosing a cryptocurrency to adopt. Prominence is much more related to a temporary hype or popularity which may end at anytime, while real impact is something which is going to last for longer and hardly ever will be replaced by another crypto. However, it's hard to find real impacting projects in crypto industry. Most of the projects are useless and have as exclusive goal pumps relied on hype, so they can lure greedy investors to invest on them, generating profit for developers.

Very few projects are useful and have a real impact. I guess we wouldn't need more than a dozen of cryptocurrencies if we compare themselves with each other analyzing the unique aspects of each of them. Actually, one of the few usages we have for cryptocurrencies in general is to replace Bitcoin on transactions in times like the one we are facing right now, with BTC fees going to the moon... But in a normal scenario, Bitcoin takes care of most needs crypto enthusiasts have, without any issues.

People wants to buy higher capitalised project because they have the ability to give a gurnateed profit like that of bitcoin which goes better as the time passes. From past most of the people become wealthy with the help of bitcoin therefore they make a stable basepoint due which people are still considering it as a better asset than others.

I think cryptocurrency is known due to the popular coin like Bitcoin and people are preferring it for long term investment but those who are not higher in capabilization are choose for trading with the hope that they will bring good results. Etheruem and bitcoin both are at the top of the list so if someone wants to diversify their portfolio then they should must choose these two also as without these two one can profit but will be less and will contain more risk.

Actually the interest of investors nowadays are deviating from popular cryptocurrency, we have most investors now buying meme coins because they are expecting 10x or 5x increase, they think some of the popular coins are too expensive to buy just like Bitcoin. Yeah indeed they are expensive but that is just a sign that they have good future, Bitcoin is the most trusted cryptocurrency and I expect even more investors to buy fo their own good, above all coin it is the only coin I'm holding, even if the coin is more of long term investment I like it that way.

Established crypto coins guarantees peace of mind, where the investors are not worried whether the coins will see another light of day, because they're sure that no matter how the market trends, whether price pump or dump that they're money remains safe. A cryptocurrency like Bitcoin follows a pertern that's quite predictable, bear run is a time to sow and bull run is a time to reap, if an investor can predict this circle and wait for the right season they'll harvest bountifully. Bitcoin and top altcoins like Ethereum, will surely give their investors profitable ROI.

This can not be said about new projects, they all come with hypes, giving promises of bountiful harvest, but in the end many of them comes short of these promises, so buying them is gambling your funds, and be ready to accept whatever outcome that they bring. There are credible ones, but in the midst of shitcoins, it is not to easy to know a genuine altcoins.

Why does the cryptocurrency world focus so much on highly capitalized projects, to the detriment of more promising and lesser-known ones?

Pretty good promotion my friend at least you have a pretty good marketing strategy :D
But in the end it's like this if we analogize why everyone prefers projects with progress or indeed big ones.
When we are faced with several e-commerce sites where there are large sites such as Amazon or eBay and given the choice where there is a new e-commerce that is not clear beforehand about what they are doing even though the scheme is the same as eBay or Amazon but they just released that don't know where it came from then what will you choose to do shopping? do try new e-commerce with the risk of goods received still unclear whether it is recommended or not or choose a sure thing?
The same goes for investing. We know that currently large-scale projects such as bitcoin or maybe some altcoins such as ETH are loved by many, suddenly a new project appears that is not too clear whether it is good or not because there is no previous track record, so the choice is definitely in bitcoin and ETH for altcoins because even though it is risky, their guarantee is greater than with new projects.
It's not wrong to try new projects that grow just to feel whether it's worth it or not but it's just like gambling where we just put our faith without knowing what will happen afterwards whether it will be profitable or not because we are just like betting there.
To hell with the research done because in the end we know new projects especially for shitcoin will only have the same scheme to pump and dump very quickly.

People wants to buy higher capitalised project because they have the ability to give a gurnateed profit like that of bitcoin which goes better as the time passes. From past most of the people become wealthy with the help of bitcoin therefore they make a stable basepoint due which people are still considering it as a better asset than others.

This is a very valid reason Simply put, of course most people enter the world of crypto space because they are interested in the benefits they might get. Not only for investors but for all parties involved in crypto projects. Whether they are developers and teams, promotion participants, investors, traders, and so on. Because they do it with the main goal, of course they want to make a profit, which of course ends in money, whether just income, passive income, wealth or success. And because of that, we are motivated to understand and contribute directly to it.

They are getting hyped because someone did millions but as you say it's deviating and most likely if they hop onto a new meme project it's either they'll make less or it will get rugged. Little did they know that they can make profit on those liquid proof cryptocurrencies if they are just willing to wait and hold it long term. Even the top 100 coins can make some profit if bull run really is here.

This is not so because there are many popular projects that might not give us the kind of profits we are looking for just like investing in new projects that still have high liquidity and momentum. We need to be looking out for projects that would bring us profits than having the mindset investing in old cryptocurrency projects.

Reputation is one thing that can't be over looked when it come to picking coins to invest with because this will have a lot to do with how profitable you will be in the crypto market, this is one of the reasons most persons will prefer highly capitalized project because they have lesser chances of collapsing anytime soon ,tho some other may appear promising but because they are yet to get that recognition and capitalization which would have been the confidence upon which some persons would want to invest in Bitcoin.

Personally what's more important to me when looking out for a coin to invest in, is their prominence over the years because that has a correlation with their capitalization which will guarantee some level of confidence in the potentials embedded in such project.

The answer is trust. If you were offered to invest in a company that is already known to many people and a company that is still building its business but they promise extraordinary potential, which one would you choose? You are right in saying that people should also pay attention to small projects but the problem is can you guarantee that they will not cheat you? That's why when talking about investment, ordinary people will be more interested in large projects and as for small projects, there may be some people who are experts and understand the crypto sector and then invest there.

To me it isn’t about their popularity. I do not invest in something I do now know or do not like how it operates. I’d rather sit with something that i believe will make an impact than blindly investing in something based on people’s belief. Newbies are mostly the ones who jump on projects because of how popular or how much they’ve heard the name, but even at that, they may sometimes be lucky because good projects also have big names. For me when I hear a name I don’t know and everyone is talking about it, I dig in to know what it is about and not just joining the train because everyone is in it.

Trusting these projects, is certainly not my plan, don't forget that even the most trustable projects end up failing every holders of the coin, for instance what happen to Luna, many investors lost their funds and couldn't breath well in the system. Bitcoins comes first in the list of cryptocurrency enlisted in the system, there's no other better way than receiving significant profits in the system. Crypto investors will always swing to the projects that's trending and forming the top bull candles this season. We have acknowledged how these things worked and I must say, we just have to be more careful when selecting projects, rather we should dwell on key projects and ensure to secure good winnings in the system.

I quick correction Mr Belarge, the most trusted project isn't an altcoin, and can never be an altcoin so long as Bitcoin stands. Bitcoin is the most trusted project in the crypto network, believe it or not, that's the fact. Altcoin are bound to dreaded because, no matter how many trust they've been able to get, I don't consider them worthy of my trust. And that is the more reason why I don't do altcoins. Any altcoin could crash at any given time and the crypto network would still go on, but if anything should happen to Bitcoin, more than half of the crypto investors will quit. Trend these days are what matters to investors now, but that same trend could get them into serious loss.

After reading through the content of this post, I kind of wonder if this is an advertisement or a normal post that seeks people's attention to know more.
I don't know if it sounds rude, but I will like to ask if you're part of the Cogitex project or if you're being paid to bring people's attention to the project because it's obvious that it's an advertisement.

BTW, let's say people like to be sure of what they are dealing with rather than just jump into a new project. More like, if you want to buy a product of any kind and you know one that has been working and has never had many issues, would you go for a new one that you're not sure of, or would you just buy the one everyone knows? The same is applicable here with cryptocurrencies. People will always rather buy Bitcoin or any other already-standing crypto than gamble with new ones that might be too shitty.

Very nice comparison. You don't want to get into the newer ones that you have proven yet than the ones that many have proven to be effective and nice. Aside from that comparison, the newer projects have lesser interest and let it known by its own developer introduce to its own communities and let it grow its way to the top. There are new projects that are typically cash cow of trades and investors and developers as well but didn't do good in the long run.

For me is the real use case of the project. The real impact of it. A project that solves a real problem.
Because in the long term, it will win. Just like Bitcoin and Ethereum versus every new altcoins out there that is greedy and people only buying them without use cases.

Is this post something like a lowkey promotion of the project you have mentioned? But to answer your question, many people are interested with the known projects as they are already established unlike new projects, it's really hard to filter out good to bad project or even if the project is good, there's no support, funding, etc. and it still will not be successful. So, people have more interest to top cryptocurrency, it's like you are investing your money and you are going to choose.

The established one where you can earn and you know that it will not go out anytime soon or the new project that has a good purpose too but not market cap, no community yet, etc. of course as an investor that would be risky for you, and in the end, you'll choose the top coin.

Most of the time conservative trader choose to be safe instead of taking the big risk, though not all have that same concepts some still love to take a gamble and hope that new projects will give them decent beneifts when it starts to pump up, it still going to depend from how you manage your DYOR and how prepare you are taking that risk when placing your hard earned money.

Either way, crypto investment accompanied by risk, even how solid the project are, if the timing is not right you can still ends up losing your investment, better to established good knowledge first before investing.

This is the basic concept behind the success of popular crypto coins, people can easily trust bitcoin but if they wants to invest in old coins then they will hesitate to put money or not. People saw the success of bitcoin so now they can trust it blindly but it does not make a sense that without knowing about it you will be a successful person.

Most of the new projects are just for money nothing else so it cannot give you profit but longer term investment in Bitcoin can make you proud for your decision. Reading about project manager can be a helpful source to decide what to do and also remember that if project manager is unknown and also the coin is new to you then instead of putting your money into risk give a check to the token and then choose to buy or not.

we’re dealing with money here i can’t afford to just throw away money in new and promising projects
You are actually correct about that. Someone can not justbuse because of a hype in a coin and invest in what will make you loose your hard earn fund.

maybe some time in the future i am able to spot a young and promising project that i will able to nurture and watch grow
That is what most people do. They always look for a new project and watch it closely on how its gradually growing before investing otherwise you will just but bunch of rugpull.

Bitcoin has trust and its growth has also helped the birth of many new altcoins. Not all altcoins are bad, some may simply not be able to compete even when they are traded on exchanges and then they disappear. there are even many more of them that are not listed on the exchange, only made for distribution but not traded.
but you also have to look at some of the potential altcoins that are currently surviving in the market. they maintain their projects and they build a larger market community. If you want to invest, avoid new projects, even though some new projects have also succeeded in surprising the market. but not everything will be as good as the momentum.

this is not just applicable in the crypto world alone, it's not always easy for an unpopular thing to be considered over a well known one no matter how great the idea of the new one might be.

People love and invest in bitcoin, Ethereum and other popular cryptocurrency firstly because of their popularity and their years of existence and no matter the greatness of the approach of another cryptocurrency that is just new to the market, what people can possibly do is to consider them a send alternative be its going to be very difficult to consider taking them over the popular ones.

This is not so because there are many popular projects that might not give us the kind of profits we are looking for just like investing in new projects that still have high liquidity and momentum. We need to be looking out for projects that would bring us profits than having the mindset investing in old cryptocurrency projects.

Old projects which are beneficial one can give profit to only those individuals who are able to wait longer because in a day or month a person cannot get profit for what they are looking. I will always prefer to buy old and successful coins but we also cannot denied that new coins are profitable because we have seen many altcoins like that of BONK, ADA and XRP which are more profitable but are not older one.

Every altcoins cannot make a good reputation always and if we are leaving old coins with the intention of choosing new one without searching about it is not a better decision therefore without interest one also has to think that all altcoins are not alike so don't blindly act but invest after a thorough research.

People are always interested in popular crypto currency for so many reasons, just imagine a system that has existed for a long period of time, with trust and transparency, will rather go for something that you don't know or the one you know the answer is well known to us, I think their are people like me in this industry that doesn't by the the idea of new project or an unknown cryptocurrency, let's not forget that the dealings involves money and no one is ready to lose his money to any form of scam, so I believe everyone wants to give their best to a scam free system.

large capital projects can be detrimental to more promising projects? Basically projects with large capital are more promising than projects with small capital. A project with large capital means it has many investors and usually projects with large capital also receive investment from large or well-known investors. and this is what attracts people's attention and makes people interested in being part of the project.
