Title: [ANN] KARLSEN (KLS) - GPU PoW - Kaspa Fork with kHeavyHash ASIC Resistance
Post by: karlsennetwork on November 23, 2023, 03:33:15 PM
KARLSEN NETWORK

What is the Karlsen Network?

Karlsen is based on the Kaspa blockchain introducing a GPU-centric solution to the dominance of ASIC mining farms, aiming to empower small-scale miners and enhance decentralization.

With Kaspa, our approach is one of friendly cohabitation. We operate under the same protocol, enjoy similar advantages, and face unidentified issues. Any significant improvements in the primary codebase will be shared back.

The Karlsen Network team believes in decentralization and we will ensure long-term GPU-friendly mining.

We initially started with kHeavyHash and blake3 modifications, resulting in the creation of KarlsenHashv1. However, recognizing that kHeavyHash and blake3 are not future-proof in terms of ASIC resistance, we have launched testnet-1 with FishHash. This marks the world's first implementation of FishHash with Golang in a 1bps blockchain.

Current Kaspa ASICs are not compatible with Karlsen, and we will enforce this resistance in the roadmap with the upcoming FishHash/KarlsenHashv2 algorithm hard fork.

Coin Specifications
- Name: Karlsen Network
- Coin Ticker: KLS
- Type: Layer 1 BlockDAG
- Algorithm: KarlsenHashV2
- Max Supply: 4.961.000.000 KLS

Economic Model:

The monetary policy of Karlsen closely resembles the Kaspa model, yet it incorporates a more gradual deflation rate to better suit the scale of small GPU miners.

It has two phases:

Pre-deflationary phase: During a six-month period, each block yields a reward of 50KLS. The intended block creation rate is one block per second, although this rate varied during the mainnet's first weeks.
Deflationary phase: The block reward undergoes a halving process annually, but this reduction is gradual rather than abrupt. Each month, the reward decreases by a factor of (1/1.4)^(1/12). This calculation is based on an initial block reward of 44 KLS.

Successful Hard Fork and Introduction of KarlsenHashV2 Algorithm

We are thrilled to announce that Karlsen Network has successfully completed a major hardfork, marking the introduction of our revolutionary KarlsenHashV2 algorithm. After 9 months of dedicated work—coding, testing, and thorough validation ⚗—this upgrade represents a monumental leap towards greater decentralization and network inclusivity. 👷‍♂️

KarlsenHashV2 was specifically designed to empower small GPU miners, making mining on our network more profitable for everyone, not just large players. This transition ensures a more distributed and resilient network, while reinforcing our commitment to decentralization. The algorithm is based on the FishHash 🐟 algorithm by Lolliedieb, the developer behind [Lolminer](https://github.com/Lolliedieb/lolMiner-releases/releases), which has proven to be extremely GPU-efficient.

We are especially grateful to IronFish Blockchain developers and Lolliedieb for their incredible work on this algorithm, which laid the foundation for KarlsenHashV2. 🧰

We are extremely proud of this achievement, as it is the first time a Kaspa-based BlockDAG has completed such a successful transition. This upgrade was a mandatory step for the exciting developments we have in store for Karlsen Network.

Now that this major milestone is behind us, our team is fully focused on expanding the Karlsen Network ecosystem. This includes integration with new exchanges and the Cosmos ecosystem, providing even more opportunities for growth and innovation. 🚀

You have to verify your discord account using the "/verify" command in the #welcome channel. This will give you the Member role. It's just anti-spam protection like in most discord servers...

I don't know who you are to make such accusations but I'm just not very active in here... Most of the time I'm not even logged in when checking the posts here.

I have been using the wallet and node for days now and my computer is fine. If you are too paranoid of malware, just use a VM.

Kind Regards

Think it's gorbaniov devs with another 1 here. Second sign of scam is that it says no premine on yesterdays post, but network has been live since Nov 16,2023,12:12 AM GMT+2. Lie = scam.

Update: Lol, they even bothered to remove range dates from explorer and status page in order to hide the premine that dates 16 Nov - https://twitter.com/karlsennetwork

Recommend marking this project as a scam attempt.

We have no link with gor team.
the project is open source, compilable, runable and asic resistant from day 1. Which make a big difference.

The team is working hard on a clean explorer, clean desktop wallet, better miner, it will be released soon.
Forking kaspa and kaspa tools is not easy - we are trying to do it as clean as possible, respectfully of the original devs work, and it takes time.

chain is public, do not hesitate to shoot your explorer and share with the community.

You may be right... which is why the wallet is set up on my scam VM :)

Right now they would only steal my hash. Which would be annoying, but not as bad as if they stole everything else.

It all depends on the devs' programming skill to keep up with kas team. If kas continue to rise, a competent fork can be very rewarding, I begin to mine this today with my old gpu.

That's true, 1 issue, when will someone actually do a proper fork and not greedy to f it up day 1. For this project I ain't mining something that has a full week of solo pre-mine.

They are allowed, but doing 1 week of pre-mine by mining it and then inviting others to join the project is not a "FAIR LAUNCH".

In order for you to become Kaspa, first of all, an announcement, then a decent wallet, starting from 0 and a pool or two with an agreement.

Having studied the features of Karlsen (KLS), I believe that this coin does not have a serious future. Even if KLS is listed on some exchanges, it’s unlikely that this coin will take off. There is a lot of competition in the cryptocurrency market, promotion requires a lot of money, which the developers do not have, judging by their website and information about the project available on the Internet.

Idk man, pools are picking it up, hashrate is making a killing, first kaspa clone steering away from asics. Sure, speculative at this point, but even kaspa isn't user/time tried and tested like BTC. It definitely fills a niche. Going to be fun to see a first listing.

it will probably take time as well. KAS didn't just mature in a short period but this will likely fall as a scam when the development fails.  nothing is listed for free these days though so this is gonna be a struggle for dev with no support.

can't see a rich list but it says mined 2.38 %. supply is too much to make it. can't say there's a 50% chance that this going to succeed. ye wanna see the price after first exchange to list.

low reward, low total supply makes it high priced, maybe
In the future, I may have to exchange 2 kas for 1 kas copy, really?
What a miracle =))

Watch out here when you downloading the wallet

Hello community

Looks very suspicious all , and a lot things going when you start the wallet.

Code:
Detects the deletion of the "Zone.Identifier" ADS by an uncommon process.
Attackers can leverage this in order to bypass security restrictions that make use of the ADS such as Microsoft Office apps.

You are offering a wallet for Karlsen/Pyrin and at the same time you write literally the same thing as the scammer, word for word, who offered a Trojan under the guise of a wallet for Karlsen/Pyrin too.
If you find bug or errors - please leave feedback
His links have been deleted and cannot be compared with yours. But what an amazing coincidence, isn't it! It's just a coincidence, isn't it? Or..

It seems that this coin is not ASIC-resistant as they claim. Some users on their discord have been reporting that FPGA bitstreams are already done and mining.

Did you expect anything less?
FPGA are relatively simple to reprogram and since this is a 'modified' kheavyhash I'm sure it was easy to change a few bits to get it to hash this algo.

Gotta remember. Crypto is NOT fair. It will always be a game for the rich (who have the best gear).

Sorry, but I am not an expert for coding nor for mining.

And, I do not understand if for all these years (until recently) Monero could manage to remain ASIC-resistant, how some other coins can't also be?

I would be very thankful if someone could send me some link where I could find explanations how to check whether some coin is really ASIC-resistant or not.

They can happen if they want, why not, while the algo continues and the market is filled with asics according to this algo, a fork and those asics will instantly become garbage.

But those who issue coins first say CPU, then GPU, then FPGA and continue with ASIC by making agreements with companies. This is marketing.

For example, what would happen to kheavyhash asics if the algo changed to Kaspa right now????? Those who propose the garbage project do not change, there is definitely an agreement between them. Otherwise, it is easy for project developers to throw away ASICs, only FPGAs can keep up with the new situation. Currently, the KLS network is GPU supported, no, there are FPGAs that work on the network, but it is not public, just who told me this, oh those birds, those birds dddddddd

a scam project.
they pre-mined 150M KLS, mining algorithm cannot resist FPGA, cheating Mexc listing. Raise money from the community and don't use it to promote mexc.
When someone mentions that the K10 FPGA can exploit KLS they will delete everything and kick that person out of discord.

Hardfork Announcement: Transition to KarlsenHashV2 on Mainnet on 13.09.2024, at approximately 13:37 UTC ⛓

We are excited to announce the upcoming hardfork on the Karlsen Network Mainnet, introducing the world’s first FishHash implementation in Rust and Go with a 1bps DAG. This hardfork will transition our network from KarlsenHashV1 to KarlsenHashV2, incorporating the new FishHashPlus 🐟➕algorithm. After extensive development and testing, we are now prepared to implement this significant upgrade.

Hardfork Details:
- Block Height: The hardfork is scheduled to occur at block height 26962009 on the DAAScore, which is estimated to be reached on September 13, 2024, at approximately 13:37 UTC.

- New Hashing Algorithm: KarlsenHashV2 will utilize FishHashPlus, a highly secure algorithm inspired by Lolliedieb's FishHash whitepaper. This new algorithm is designed to be fully ASIC-resistant and move out FPGA hardware, fostering a more decentralized and equitable mining environment.

Node Update Requirement:

To ensure a smooth transition and continued participation in the network, all node operators must update their software to support KarlsenHashV2. We strongly recommend switching to the Rust node implementation for the following reasons: Performance, Scalability, Security.

<https://github.com/karlsen-network/rusty-karlsen/releases/tag/v2.0.0 (https://github.com/karlsen-network/rusty-karlsen/releases/tag/v2.0.0)>

How to Update:

For detailed instructions on how to update your node and start mining with KarlsenHashV2, please visit our official documentation here: https://github.com/karlsen-network/docs/blob/main/Getting%20Started/Rust%20Full%20Node%20Installation.md (https://github.com/karlsen-network/docs/blob/main/Getting%20Started/Rust%20Full%20Node%20Installation.md)

Exchanges and Pool Operators:

To ensure a smooth transition across the ecosystem, we will be informing all exchanges and mining pool operators in advance of the hardfork date.

Thank you for your ongoing support and participation in our decentralized community.

Hardfork Announcement: Critical bug fix release after testnet rehearsal with the community

We've recently realized that our previous method for difficulty adjustment isn't sufficient when a hardfork occurs, especially if the hashrate drops significantly. This situation necessitates rebuilding all releases, making it a mandatory update. Although this remains a single hardfork since we are still before the HF DAA score of `26962009`.

Please update your nodes in Mainnet to the following version:

- Rust Full Node: <https://github.com/karlsen-network/rusty-karlsen/releases/tag/v2.1.0 (https://github.com/karlsen-network/rusty-karlsen/releases/tag/v2.1.0)>
- Golang Full Node: <https://github.com/karlsen-network/karlsend/releases/tag/v2.2.0 (https://github.com/karlsen-network/karlsend/releases/tag/v2.2.0)>

It is important to do this before the HF DAA score `26962009` is reached on 13.09.2024, at approximately 13:37 UTC.
